Does anyone know who/where to request a Root Toolkit or instructions for the DNA on a Mac?
Shouldn't the adb instructions be exactly the same? We're not running any Windows-only files that I know of.

But most toolkits are programmed using AutoIT or VB under windows shell, so they wont work for Mac, even though the mac scripting would be almost identical. We just need someone to dump the scripts into a GUI for Mac.
Infact, i think ill look into it. Its actually a lot easier than people think. Ill post it here first.
Thanks

My Thunderbolt has the 605.7 firmware on it; what would be the best method to root it? By using the batch file or doing it one command at a time with ADB?
Rooting with ADB by following jcase's thread to the letter, is the safest and best way to root, bar none.
Adb is the best way to go and next time before you post in the developers section. PLEASE READ THE RULES AND POST IN Q/A. Its really not that hard.

Thanks for being helpful, much appreciated. Going to take care of this when I get home from work this afternoon.
I agree. I followed a 9 step guide on YouTube and it worked perfect. Amazing guide. Can't mess up.
I had the directions on here open, and watched the Youtube video on it. Everything went flawlessly.

I agree. Do a little research before you post questions. This forum is full of useful information!
ADB or quick root. I did ADB using a MAC. No need to install drivers and such so it worked out.
I am brand new so I apologize for just jumping in here. My problem is I have tried many root methods and have yet to get root or close to it.
Thunderbolt
My firmware is 1.03.0000
radio is 1.15.00.0128w3
any help would be much appreciated!!
If you use the method in jcase's thread, you simply copy+paste commands into the adb window

Sounds like you used the 3 click method. If that's how you want to do it I think you need to start at step 2.
You should do it through adb though since it sounds like you're a rooting rookie. It'll help in the long run.

JCase's method is a sticky in the development section btw.

Many thanks!
Thank you guys who posted! And a big thanks to those who developed all the materials for the root process.
I had apparently not done something right the first few times !! " CHECK MD5 SUMS!! for those of you who overlooked this every step it is important!! I now have root and as soon as I am set up proper on here I will be donating! Everyone should! These guys work hard to make it easier on the rest of us. Again many thanks!
Scenario: HTC Flyer US Wifi only. Attempting to get s-off using revolutionary. I've setup ADB on my mac and my device is identified, so I can see the serial number. my HBoot version is 1.10.0000
This is the message I receive when trying to run the binary file downloaded from the revolutionary site.

I'm guessing this is a simple fix. Thanks for your help guys.

revolutionary is windows or Linux only, and this thread desn't belong in this forum.
Why doesn't it belong here globatron? It's a tool used for android development, right?

Unfortunately that didn't work. I believe all the permissions are correct. Could it be an error from the android sdk install perhaps?

Most likely you have a file that is corrupted or invalid. Are you sure you downloaded file for right platform?
Sorry, that's what I could think of. I tried Windows version and works great.

This is a guide to help people fix fastboot not being recognized with the new windows 8 consumer preview, which happened to me and i found the easy fix. After installing the preview,
1 connect htc evo 3d, let phone connect and install its own drivers, then under device manager, find htc-update drivers- download and install adb drivers http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2tunwdxr3q2q8ec
2. Next go into sdk manager and install all updates that are current, make sure you dont let computer go into idle and if files arent downloading correctly, simply redo the update till everything updates properly, might take a few times because windows 8 isnt optimized yet for file transfer, who knows, etc
3. FASTBOOT IS NO LONGER UNDER TOOLS, BECAUSE ITS UNDER PLATFORM TOOLS. the update puts fastboot from tools to platform tools, so to get adb/fastboot to recognize you have to shift/commandprompt where platform tools are for it to recognize adb/fastboot and let you issue commands
There you have it..... maybe i should go into developing, i just got lucky with this, i hope this helps one person out.... rocking the new htc one s rom, htc evo 3d until the next 3d, keep the developing coming
awesome
I've been looking for something like this, thanks so much luthien!
sure, anytime......hope it helps more people

What the Hell. Dude my guides work. This one however is the one that should be removed. This guide is a joke obviously you have no idea what your doing. When you say in your guide to download all the packages are you aware what's that for ??? Its for full on development. You don't need any of that for fastboot or adb. Unless your planning on developing all that will do is occupy space on your hard drive and a lot of it. Also you could have just pointed the user to newer/latest sdk that will put the tools in platform. No need to download the old sdk just to update to the newer one with a whole lot of installs the average user will never need. Your guide should definitely be removed because its highly incorrect.

You could have done your research before posting a guide and you would have known this. As far as being helpful your choice to post "not searching for a similar guide that may or may not work" how was that helpful??? Are you not reading your post ??? When xda member "ssojyeti" posted a link to my thread asking you to read before you post you chose to reply with a non helpful comment towards my guide. When you could have posted something helpful or useful. If the more knowledge, guides, etc the better then why not post something postive about my guide?? Instead you chose not to henceforth my reply. Also your guide is incorrect and instead of doing your research to know what it is your posting you half do it, throw it up as a guide and say its to help the community. Why not just take your time read a little and post a guide were you know what it is your posting about that way when you posted your guide the community would have had the benefit of the time, effort, and research you put into it to provide the best guide you could. That would help the community more wouldn't you agree?? You post a guide on how to get fastboot working and the way your guide is telling the user has nothing really to do with fastboot at all. So you sir could have been more helpful by taking your time to do the research, posting postive feed back about fellow xda members guides, and reading before you post.

Nothing aginst your post but what's the point.??? Did ya ever read me post anything saying my guide was the end all be all ?? Read the guide in fact I say the complete opposite. My guide can be done in 20min and done correctly. If that's to long for you or if its to complicated for you by all means don't use it. Also when you say this guide has room for future development I really have no idea what it is your referring to.

I used dd on my linux box to write the cwm image to my device and then flashed the rooted system.img without tripping the flash counter. I believe that DA G (our kernel guru) mentioned where to write the recovery (mmcblk___). I unfortunately can't look atm, but the info is buried somewhere in our great dev section

Couldn't you use WINE and run the windows applications or try using a virtual desktop?
Orrrrrr just use splashtop to get your windows on your phone
"Since God created man, and man created the Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Note are like a gift from God, Randal!"
To use Heimdall just download and install it then watch some videos on youtube of people showing how to root other Samsung devices with Heimdall. The process is the same just use files made for rooting the Note.
EDIT: Apparently the Galaxy Note is not compatible with Heimdall. I have searched for the past couple hours and can confirm Heimdall isn't compatible with the Note. It may be in the future but for now I guess ODIN and Windows is your only option for rooting. If I were you I would install windows in VirtualBox and use odin to flash a rooted kernel.
This problem is frustrating, and I hope that I can find *and share a recipe with commands and all* to answer the original question.
