i am located in iowa, and sprint had advised to me the 4g should be available in SOME AREAS . "this was back with my old htc evo 4g" so i tried everywhere and there was only one spot it was located, next to our jail. just plain retarded , who wants to connect to 4g in that area . and i also could only connect every now and then .
Put the phone in air plane mode, wait a minute. Then turn air plane mode off.. Welcome to the EVO LTE

I remember a guy say here there was 4G here near downtown area so I turned on 4G a while back & got no bars on 4G with constant disconnections! I live in midtown & make a mistake & turned on 4G recently & was getting a connection. Sprint must really be working on the 4G because now I get connection all over midtown! The connection is stronger outside…… Here is the speedtest from inside house to outside! Your thoughts……

That's awesome! Now I want 4G.
Non in chattanooga.
None in Toledo, OH.
I think sprint is working on it! There used to be no 4G near me but now I get it all over midtown & the connection outside is EXTREMELY strong & FAST!

Weird.... I thought they stopped expanding their wimax coverage....
Idk, all of a sudden I get strong 4G

arghhh I could so use this a month ago, when I was stuck in a hotel, with very bad WiFi.
I've been waiting for 4g in Memphis ever since I got the original Evo. I'm turning it on now to test but I live out in the Wolfchase area so we'll see.
Damn, nothing at my house but good to know we are finally getting some in town. The Sprint tower by my house gives me great 3g with 2600kbps down and 1300kbps up so I won't need the 4g here but when I'm downtown I will be cranking it out.
Since we are flexing 4G muscle...
I had it over new years and at the hotel on the way back and it was awesome. New years eve I passed out with it on and a new battery in, and when I woke up it had stayed connected the whole time and I still had a full battery. Usually I have to stand outside with my phone facing a certain direction before I can get it, yet my evo 4g was able to connect in places where my 3d doesn't even try to.

Fellow midtowner! I've been able to get as far as the main library before losing 4G when I tried on my Evo 4G last year, but I really don't use it all that much even when it is available.
Just tried it, got 2877kbps/118kbps. It'd probably be faster out in my driveway

You live in midtown too bro? When I had it on earlier today, it went nearly all the way to Christian Brothers University until disconnected! I'm glad I'm finally getting to use it, I tried to go back to 3G & it's impossible bro! I went from almost 3mb+ down/1.5mb+ up down to like 250kb down/90kb up SMH! The 3G in midtown where I am is ridiculous bro, nearly impossible to use until it's late night round 1! WTF

Are you in Memphis? I couldn't understand what you just said
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
theres 4g coverage in La Crosse, WI.
I get about 1-2mbps down and about 1mbps up from my house where I have Low to almost no signal (it drops sometimes). About 100ms ping to any mainland server.
There are however a few settings in the ##DATA# menu for wimax, to decrease the drop threshold, and speed up the reconnection process if it does drop. I forget where the thread went though lol

The network vision towers (probably just went local for the OP) most likely are carrying Wimax until the agreement with Clear expires.
I'm blindly assuming here.

It's amazing how 4G is everywhere in my area now. Here is another test I did up T-Mobile

Congrats on being the 3rd major Tennessee city with wimax. Here in Knoxville wimax is still spotty but fast when with good signal. Nashville seems to have decent coverage, but if we could all have the speed and coverage that Atlanta enjoys, no one would be *****ing about not having LTE.
IM having a hard time connecting to lte. I have the Evo 4g lte and I can not connect. I live in Dallas off of Frankford and marsh. I have the latest update and constantly updating my prl and profile. I turn lte/cdma to cdma only....and vise versa....I reboot my phone. But nothing. This is my first post that I can remember....in sometime if at all....so if it is in the wrong spot IM sorry.....I just don't went to have an lte phone with no lte. Thanks in advanced

There is some other info to compare with in other threads, check those out.
The short answer, in my opinion, is that the coverage maps are wrong (or not _yet_ accurate). I live and work in areas that should have LTE, but I never see my phone switch to it.

I agree with you on this one. I was in Lewisville, just north of 121 on Friday and had LTE but lost it on my drive home somewhere in Frisco. I have not seen it come back since then and the coverage map says I should have it at home and at work but I never see it come on. I think they only have a few towers up at the moment. I saw some techs working on a tower this morning on my way to work and I couldn't see the vehicle, but was hoping it was Sprint!

Is anyone able to get LTE inside buildings? I used to get WIMAX 4G on my OG EVO at my desk at work near 360 in Arlington and cannot get LTE on the new EVO. Maps say it's covered there. I can get it outside my house in Colleyville, but not inside just like WIMAX was. LTE will be useless to me if I cannot get it inside buildings. Frustrating. Thanks for any suggestions.
Lte was not launched in the first deployment at 100 percent due to high demand. Please check out s4gru.com if you have any questions. Theu have the best info.

A buddy of mine that used to work with phones went into my Evo lte via the ## codes and said I had old lte tables and needed to reactivate.the.phone now that the lte is on....because it wasn't activated when lte was on that's why it's not working. I went to a sprint store. Off of Macarthur and 635 in Irving...and told the chick this....she said it's a lie...just that lte isn't working. Should I try to reactivate ...how do I do that

So I'm at the USC game and this pops up on my phone...and my friend right next to me, who is also on Sprint but has the Galaxy, got the 4G signal too! But it was gone within 15 minutes.

Hm, why would they lock it? Well regardless, I'm just doing my part as a loyal field reporter. And if sharing this glorious discovery first with my fellow EVO brothers and sisters is wrong, then I don't wanna be right

Yeah you might want to visit the s4gru forums for lte updates or download the sensorly app to see where 4G LTE has been spotted.

There's the thread by Sorax (hope I spelled it right) along with a running list so that's where they have been wanting people to post the newly discovered signals. Hey I know your excitement when I 1st saw it light up on my phone I creamed.

So I live in the fort worth area and get lte in many places except my house no biggie, I have Verizon fios....my evo 3d gets great wimax signal at home so does my epic touch... Well my wife just got the galaxy note 2 and she gets great lte in our house where evo lte gets none. Does the galaxy note 2 have better internal antennas, both phones get same number of bars for voice but she gets lte and I don't while at home.

its a well known fact the evo is a poor performer in comparison to the sammys and ip5 as far as picking up and holding lte.
That's news to me, I'm going off old flip phone standard I guess Samsung all ways sucked compared to Sanyo.... Then I upgraded to palm treos and then HTC Windows phones...now HTC since hero, evo, evo 3d now lte And all were better than Samsung as far as signal strengths go. I guess they have changed for the better. I haven't owned a Samsung since the blade or what ever it was called came out.

I get lte all around. I live in grapevine, and get it here (not at my house thought) dallas, fort worth, and arlington.... I've noticed that I get way better lte on cm10.1 than sense though....

Turned on my EVO lte a few minutes ago after it dying today and I saw the 4g logo. My first reaction? Run a speed test. The results were... Unsatisfactory to say the least. After about 10 minutes of use I was booted back to 3g, but not before getting some screen caps!
Has anyone else had this happen in the Tacoma area? I know it is listed nowhere on the sprint coverage maps or lte locations so maybe this area is currently in testing and i managed to grab the signal somehow? Either way, exciting news for sprint customers in the SeaTac area!

Just noticed 4G lit up (for the first time ever) for me on my Evo 4G LTE while driving on 509 down by the Port of Tacoma. Speed was about 5.5 down and 1 up.
I'm up in Whidbey and we'll never get anything better than 3g, I still goto 1x sometimes, did a speed test today and almost got to one meg off of a 159 ping...
