try samsungdive.com n raise an FIR with police..
Had you set up the tracking with the Samsung app? or maybe with Avast! anitivirus?
If you've not set up any tracking I'm not sure what you can do :crying:
Always first thing.....
1.....alert provider
2......file a report with police
3.....if you haven't enabled tracker that about all you can do unfortunately.
If you had a stock Samsung ROM, you'd have Samsungdive. With that it is possible to locate your phone ANYWHERE in the world, and you could have found it by now.
However, some poop-heads find Samsung Dive and the Samsung Framework are unecessary and remove them from their custom ROMs.
Samsung Dive is one of the most valuable additions to the stock ROMs and one of the TOP 5 reasons I keep my phones with stock ROMs, although rooted.
Another choice is to use apps like "Where's my Droid" (US$ 5), and similar apps, and although they aren't as efficient as Samsung Dive, they can help you locate your phone.
You can try a remote install of plan b - be persistent, it sometimes takes many attempts to get it on your phone.

Samsung Dive is worthless, if someone wants to keep the phone. A 30 seconds Google search shows how to perform a factory reset that erases all SamsungDive configuration. A thief has just to press three keys when booting the phone. It works even when the phone is protected by PIN or something else.

Try samsungdive.
Guys...almost a month has passed....I tried samsung dive but still no success....Although in my google account I see my stolen s3 is stil showing up as one of devices ...I filed fir a month ago...still no feedback by cops...feeling quite sad...
If your phone is using Google location services you can try logging into Google latitude from a pc/other device and looking at the location history.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Sorry but if your device has not surfaced within a month, it's very possible that it either does not work anymore (broken, lost and left in rain, ...) or that the thief/finder actually bothered to factory-reset the device (as someone else said... like 5 seconds of work)
As sorry as I am to say it, but I believe you can give up hoping to get it ever back.
This happened to me as well. Unfortunately I was never able to find the phone. Another thing that can be done is try to block IMEI number. However not all carriers want to do this as I lernt. I also send the email to Samsung and ask the if they could add the number to internetional black list but I am not sure they did it. Sorry about your loss. I know how it feels.
Guys just suggest me a new device.Sad as it feels I need u r opinions.
M not gonna buy s3 again bcoz I will feel the pain of losing it.
I am against htc bcoz of battery , lg is crappy and motorola/sony don't worked so far for me
before coming to love android with my gs3.
Though suggestions are welcome.
I like to do heavy usage, browsing, gaming ,developing etc on my android.
Sony xperia z or zl or htc m7

Thanks for the post, But right now we don't even have a fully working AOSP rom, and this only works on an AOSP rom!! Wish it worked on sense, does it work? have you tried it on 3.6?
the voice search does not work in the app
typed searches are just fine however

No CM9 on the Amaze??? Thought someone said they did it over here... huh
Sent from my HTC One S running CM9
seriously I just bought my phone in november!!! I feel like my phone is like 3 years old already. I though google said they weren't going to go crazy coming out with major updates so fast. After my amaze I'm going back to a google flagship phone and staying with it!! As much as I have come to grow and love sense, I think I'll be able to get many of sense features with third party apps and many roms that will be developed for google flagship phones! I love my amaze, but I hate HTC and all other cell phone manufacturers, It took them 6 months to give us ICS, samsung wasn't that great about the update either. I think there's also a clause that forces cell phone manufacturers to provide updates to phones up to 18 months. I read that recently somewhere! so hopefully we'll see some version of jellybean on our amaze, it's not that big of a leap from ICS, but does have some very good features that I really would like to have.
We're close to getting Pure ICS AOSP or AOKP on our phones, I don't think jellybean update will be much harder. I think going from GB to ICS was a major overhaul thus taking companies, Cyanogenmod, and many devlopers months to perfect ICS. Jelly bean is not the case. It more like going from Froyo to GB.
Let's cross our fingers. I already want to throw my phone out away, and It's only been like 8 months since I got it!! This is just ridiculous.
Nope, running nightmare sense. Having the same issues as just about everybody else. I think Sportsstar has a aokp(wip). Can't be sure.

On Energy ROM, and just installed this following the instructions in the original thread. Works great.
So I'm on stock ICS and I can't even find this in the market? What's the point of having a google phone if we can't use google software? I don't get it.
Because it is a feature of Android JellyBean modified to be used on our Ice Cream Sandwich phones...

I still don't really get how Google Now really works, esp since it's hacked onto our ICS devices. So do you have the google search bar as a widget on your home screen and the cards show up automatically?

Yeah you can have the widget or press the capacitive search key, those are taken over by Now. All searches go through Now but it is seamless and not a big deal.
They had problems working in the voice search as the JB and ICS voice APIs are different. The work around was a modification to input voice to text using ICS voice engine and inputting it into JB.

I don't quite understand. You don't have to flash, customize, or tinker with your phone at all. How much time you spend doing this is up to you. The phone works fine out of the box which is what you'll get with iPhone. If you want to get rid of bloat, then root it and remove the stuff you don't want.

Solution might be to find a ROM and stay with it, keep in mind flashing and or using custom ROMs are not for everyone, if you enjoy learning and bettering your knowledge and device well then it's the ticket for you, but if you find things are not working for you and you have hard time understanding, then maybe flashing custom ROMs are not your game...
There is nothing wrong with staying Stock and or Stock straight out of the box, as stated some have found that best for them.
Thank You.
Just go with iPhone we done anybody waffling back and forth. Goodbye!

That being said, I have always had issues with Paranoid Android... either on my Note and on my Nexus S. I would suggest the ROM in my signature. I love it. Lots of features, stable and smooth. But in the end, everyone tries many ROMs before settling one one that works best for them. Happy flashing!

I really don't want to get an iPhone again. I got rid of the 4S 64GB factory unlocked. It's like an ipod with some phone functionality, meaning I cant use it for much. I have Tmobile and this particular phone for various reasons and the root is very necessary.
I would prefer someone help. It's obvious something I'm flashing or how I am flashing it is borking the phones. Most likely the latter.
Wipe cache, wipe system, wipe Dalvik before flashing. Or follow the instructions on the ROM page's first few posts.

Drama queen. No one told you that you need to flash ROMs. Get the iPhone and please go "complain" on the iPhone forums. Roms are free and devs are taking their "own" time out of their personal lives to make em. If you can't be thankful, you don't deserve to be here.

No way I'd ever go to an iPhone again. I don't like being told what I am allowed to do with something I bought. Don't get me started on that though. IPhone is what you use until you know better, kinda like people used to use AOL until they learned more about the internet. We have several nice ROMs to pick from

I got the old one on stock rom stock recovery. Its the same, very unresponsive. It takes 5 minutes just to set the language on the att start screens. The other phone is balking at connections with odin, im trying to put in only a bootloader and its got a green bar but the big area says BOOT is not changing color yet, like its at the last step and it stopped. Its odin 1.85 since the newer ones seemed worse.
edit:
I got the old phone going, I think its fixed! I flashed the stock rom via odin thats on the forums. I used stock recovery to clear a couple caches. Then flashed cwm standard, from march or so, I used it to clear everything possible except sd card which was recently formatted as well but it has roms now. I flashed a nice safe collective mesosphere seraphim ics rom and its snappy and responsive. I think there is something wrong with some newer things, I dont know what, but I had no problems before I started with JB. fyi, bricking two phones is not normal for me.
The new phone wont talk to odin so it'll sit for a minute.
Going no where with this, so...

-The only option is sending it to Samsung for repair, but im a little worried with a download counter of 27! Would they be able to see the download count? (I dont think they will as the things totally gone, but I have no idea) I presumed that they use ODIN in the factory, so would pick up the count on that screen, but as the thing wont even go to that screen, will they see it?

No they will just replace board or nand chip so either way they will likely not be checking binary counter.

Airplane mode.
If you want to go deeper than Airplane Mode, you will have to create a customized firmware for it. Here is a link to a thread in the Captivate (SGH-i897) forum about turning the captivate into something like an Ipod Touch. It may give you and idea of what would be involved.

No, but if you have the time, following that thread would be a good way to get into light development. Essentially, all you have to do is take someone's existing firmware distribution, and do some relatively easy modifications. You would have to learn the tools and how to use them. If you can contact the author of that thread, he said he is willing to show someone what modifications to make. It may still apply on our phone.
Problem is that if someone doesn't have an interest, they are not going to do something for someone else. Maybe if you offered a bounty, someone might take it up.

I'll give whatever support I can. I don't know the tools real well, but I've played with some of them a little, and I do know some windows programming and some other stuff.
Edit: Did a little looking around. You probably will not hear back from the original poster as he appears to be inactive on xda for most of the last year. Here is his original thread which has basic instructions for removing the phone components on the Captivate. This might work on this phone. I think the second thread was to make the interface more pretty.

I never did listen from him as u said. Hmmn but i did visit this thread and did as he did which was quite very simple to be honest. I deleted the phone and telephony apk and csc file. And all other files which were related to phone activities in one or other way.
And well with that the cell stand by went away...
Now i get yellow phone signals
Anyways their is mo cell standby in battery drain
But all is not well i get kernel wakelocks which are keeping my phone awake and draining battery like hell when in standby or screen off...

How do i get rid of this svnet
Svnet i read this wakelock gets active for 6 secs when the phone is looking searching for signals.
And also do anyone know how to uninstall the modem in my phone thanks
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Uninstall the modem or flash a new one? You can turn air plane mode on if you want to turn off signal and data when you're in a bad coverage area.
Airplane mode not an option...
How to uninstall the modem.....

Just flash the new one over it in cwm. It replaces the one currently there everytime you flash a new one.

i just change my phone, made a bargain on a S2...
so my last phone(galaxy W) was runing the cyanogem mod 9
with i was happy with, but now on the s2 i am ok with the stock rom, but small things are missing...
lock button as shoter buton:
you can use the lock button to take pictures, what is very usefull when you need an elder( dont take badly folks) to take a picture of you. this on the camera app of cyanogen dosent looks like a great thing but you miss when you dont have...
Long press on volume change music:
this one i miss a lot, change music on lock mode not awake the device with a simple long press, bravissimo...
play music is not saving my plylists:
this is an issue more then a miss, every time i turn my phone off the playlists forget the music who is on the external card(in my case all musics)
there is a soft or hardproblem???
can i install those things with some kind of app, apk or zip file?
i am using stock 4.1.2 rooted and no CWM
thx
This topic reminds me that I really need to start travelling thru europe, I wanna come across all those cheap S2 wandering around over there....

BTW, re-read your OP, amaze yourself about what you're saying and what you're asking.
Repeat till you become aware of the awesome device you got in front of you.

Lol, but I believe he is asking for mods and he couldn't just word it right, like volume rocker mod, and for converting the lock button to camera photo shoot button, OP there are mods for volume rocker feature, for photo shoot I don't know but I suppose it's quite possible, you just need to search for mods suitable and made for your version of firmware.
Edit :Most mods are made for deodexed roms though.
Lock button = Power Button
And the Play list loss might be a bug, maybe even related to media scanner issue.

He misses the camera button from his galaxy w, are you kidding me?
Which one is the galaxy w anyway? Does it even have a camera?
And there's this thing called "
Timer", which was created to erradicate old people from the photo snap world.

Gastonw, buddy killing people by making them laugh is still a crime,

http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_w_i8150-4114.php
And I think he means that in his custom rom for that device there were mods like, volume rocker, power button as camera button.. Lolololololololol... He just worded it in a confusing way.
Edit :That eradicate old people comment is literally killing me.

first, i was not complaing about your beloved phone, dont take it personaly but if you think i ofend you , better search for a girlfriend or a doctor if you dont like girls, dude...
second, i was talking about MOD yes, sorry i didnt found the word, since english is not my mother language i found myself on the rigth to make this a honest mistake...
A mod that the lock button, when the camera app is open, becaume a shutter
and a mod where the volume buttons, when the phone locked, be a music back/foward...
is that possible on THE MAGNIFICIENT SII???
BTW: i dont worship phones or gods, i sayed in the first post why i changed.
That's the best come back you came up with?
You're like 15, aren't ya?
Anyway, we know what you meant.

Hey guys....Don't knock the W....it's the phone i had before I moved to the S2.....it may not seem much on paper...but thanks to the W's main dev @arco68, it can run cm9, cm10 and cm10.1....and run them very well....
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Depends on what stock rom you use. In the app section you can fint some mods but are sistem locked (they are different for 4.0.4 , 4.1.2 and their builds lsd, lsn etc.). You need to do a search for your exact rom and version for mod. And try to go for odex because of the stock rom (any mods you install).
