Hi all,
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I am very much new to android programming. I use Eclipse for development environment. I am using android sdk r21. Whenever i run an application in android emulator through eclipse, the android device restarts, please note that android emulator does not get closed but it restarts. I do not why but after 1 minute it restarts.
I have an AndroidGPSTracking project downloaded from androidhive.info. The author of the project mentions that it is running well for him and other. I have followed every direction mentioned in the website to run the project. When i run the project following console output is generated:
2012-11-28 11:00:42 - AndroidGPSTrackingActivity] New emulator found: emulator-5554
[2012-11-28 11:00:42 - AndroidGPSTrackingActivity] Waiting for HOME ('android.process.acore') to be launched...

After i run the project i use DDMS perspective in eclipse to send latitude and logitude information to android emulator.
Please help me. I am unable to undertand whether the problem lies with emulator, sdk or something else.
I have attached herewith the entire project
Regards

Hi all,
I have an elocity A7 Tablet running 2.2 Dexters ElocityA7 Modv1.2, full root access.
I managed to get usb ADB functionality working correctly after forcing the usb mode to client - i can run shell commands etc...
When I first attempted to launch applications from Eclipse I was getting messages stating /sbin/sh : am: not found. I finally managed to get that corrected by editing the am/pm files and creating the correct references with vi.
So now the applications finally install from Eclipse - HOWEVER - they do not launch when I attempt to run or debug. The Apps do get installed correctly, it just appears it Eclipse can't start the activity.
-USB debugging is enabled
Console output when I attempt to run:
==============================================
Code:
[2011-09-25 19:40:58 - test] Android Launch!
2011-09-25 19:40:58 - test] adb is running normally.
[2011-09-25 19:40:58 - test] Performing com.test.TestActivity activity launch

[2011-09-25 19:40:59 - test] Starting activity com.test.TestActivity on device 028041454220f4d7
At this point nothing further happens - The logcat below just displays the debugger detaches but I don't know exactly why.
LogCat Output when I attempt to run:
==============================================
Code:

Grateful if anyone has any ideas or can point me in a direction to determine what the cause may be? I know eclipse is configured correctly as I can launch and debug on my Sony Arc 2.3.3 - I think this might be related to a setting on the A7 system
I've narrowed it down to being a problem with my 'am' command - it's not actually doing anything. Anyone know the proper setup for the am command?
Currently this is what I have:
/sbin/am
--EMPTY-- I think this is the problem. If i delete this file however the am command is not found. Do i need to point this somewhere?
/system/bin/am
# Script to start "am" on the device, which has a very rudimentary
# shell.
#
#!/system/bin/sh
base=/system
export CLASSPATH=$base/framework/am.jar
exec app_process $base/bin com.android.commands.am.Am "[email protected]"
Wow as if - problem solved.
#!/system/bin/sh
Needs to be the FIRST line in the file.
i install new version of eclipse and Android sdk , but when i run an android project i get this error
Code:
Could not open Selected VM debug port (8700). Make sure you do not have another instance of DDMS or of the eclipse plugin running. If it's being used by something else, choose a new port number in the preferences.
ADB server didn't ACK
* failed to start daemon *
i try to solve the problem by following this , but i still get the same problem:
Code:
-Window -> Preferences -> Android -> DDMS
-Set Base local debugger port to "8601"
- Check the box that says "Use ADBHOST" and the value should be "127.0.0.1"
i am also tryng to reinstall android pluing for ecipse and even the android sdk , but i still get the same problem , any help !
OS : debian6 x64bit
IDE : eclipse juno
thanks in advance !
Hi!! all

Hello everyone I'm new to android and have been trying to run Emscripten on it: I've ported over the necessary dependencies: Node, Python, Fastcomp/Clang via the NDK Toolchain and tested with the Android Emulator (from Android SDK) inside the the Android Terminal Emulator (from jackpal's github) but when I finally attempted to run Emscripten itself as so:
Code:
cd /data/data/jackpal.androidterm/shared_prefs
bin/python2 emscripten-1.22.1/emcc -v
I ran into some rather vague error messages:
Code:
[2] + Stopped (signal) bin/python emscripten-1.22.1/emcc -v
[1] - Segmentation fault bin/python emscripten-1.22.1/emcc -v
Does anyone have any ideas on this? I there a way I can get better debugging info to help find the problem?
I think I figured out the problem. Those error seem to come from python. Particularly python seems to be crashing. Trying the python console doing a simple:
Code:
import shutil
will crash the interpreter. Since discovering this I've found many other things that will crash python in my setup. So I guess it wasn't such a good port after all.
I ran some test in the python interpreter as this is what I go so far:
These modules are fine:
Code:
os, platform, re, pprint, atexit, subprocess, sys, time, string, struct
These modules will crash python:
Code:
optparse, logging, urlparse, SocketServer, cgi shutil, tempfile, shlex
These modules will spit out error messages but not crash python:
Code:
BaseHTTPServer, SimpleHTTPServer, socket,
Don't really, no what is cause this yet.
After trying to build python several different ways and not getting those modules to work I broke down and decided to try out Python4Android. And it works. After following their guide on getting it to work in the shell, I test the modules and they were fine. After that I pushed my builds of fastcomp(llvm/clang) and node.js and the Emscripten python scripts ot Py4A's files location and then tried to run emcc (emscripten's compiler).
The scripts needed a little (very little) tweeking to get them to work but they worked. And now I'm going to try and copy Py4A's files to Android Terminal Emulators' location. If that works to my satisfaction I'll try to get these to work with VimTouch.
My aims:
- Use Android Studio to develop a basic Android application - should be possible
- Use Android Studio to back up my physical phone (Hisense phone running Nougat 7.0) and create an emulated version of it running on my PC - should be possible, is it?
My PC:
- Windows XP 32-bit
- Pentium Dual Core T2330 processor NOT supporting Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x)
- 2 GB RAM
Questions:
- Are the above aims possible to achieve with my PC?
- If yes, what are the recommended Android Studio and Java SE Development Kit versions/settings to use that work for sure?
Story: I have tried to use Android Studio 3.0.1 with various versions of Java SE Development Kit 8 (including 121, 144, and 152) and various settings/hacks constantly running into various bugs/issues, most of which were seemingly resolved by new settings/hacks, yet I ended up with the same error messages after I have tried everything I have found online that nice people suggested on forums.
I am unable to even compile and run a default Android app, I get these error messages:
Gradle build finished with 2 error(s) in 21s 591ms
Error:java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: java.lang.RuntimeException: No server to serve request. Check logs for details.
Error:Execution failed for task ':app:mergeDebugResources'.
> Error: java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: java.lang.RuntimeException: No server to serve request. Check logs for details.
I am unable to run a default-loaded Android Virtual Device, I get this error message:
Emulator: Process finished with exit code -1073741511 (0xC0000139)
I am clueless how to continue. If my aims are possible to achieve, could someone tell me the Android Studio and JDK versions and settings that work 100% under 32-bit Win XP?
Thanks in advance!
