On my 16 gb galaxy s3 I get 11.5 gb space but still ok
I have many photos on phone (extsdcard)
BUT IT EATS 4GB SPACE FOR THE THUMBNILS
so I only have 7 gb galaxy s3 I hope many people would be having this problem
so the thing I want is can I store thumbnails on extsdcard

My advice is too leave everything that is on the internal memory as default where they are.
They are there for a reason.

Why not? In the camera settings you can choose where to store your pictures. Mine are always stored on Extsdcard. Everytime I flash a new ROM (and I flash a lot beleive me) I use Revolution HD super-wipe so it clears my internal cards completely. By putting them on my Extsdcard I never lose them(still you should make backup all the time just in case).

hi guys. can somebody please help me with my issue?
it happens like this, the phone just freezes for a moment and then it moves to the "S" boot screen. when the unlock screen appears and i try to unlock it,it freezes again and then boots. my solution is taking the battery out. yeah,it works for a while(usb and sd card are mounting and usual stuff loading)
,but the widgets arent loading...
and then again, 2 minutes after rebooting, the loop starts again!
here are some possible issues i read about:
A:sd card causing bootlooping,
B:application app2sd pro causing problems.
i really dont know anything about rooting,or kies,or odin (if im correct)
and i dont want to reset my phone.
running stock rom 4.0.3 (with TW) and 325 installed apps.
350mb free storage on phone,2.56 gb of memory on internal sd and external is 339mb. there are about 46 500 files on sd cards in total
please....
HELP!
From recovery menu, wipe your phone and try to open it.
NOTE: This will reset your phone to factory settings.
I guess any method we try to help you with will lose your 300+ apps :O
thanks anyways... my phone just rebooted again
maybe ill try rooting some day when im less scared
hi again. figured it out it was my 4.5 year old sd card that was unreadable...
but i moved it to my old desire and it worked fine.
now its time to hunt for a 16gb sd card
Wait, apps2sd? I used to use that with my Hero, why on earth are you using it now?
I suspect that is the majority of your problem.

why? does the app have some kind of bug?
Newer Android versions (2.2+) have option moving apps to card natively.
So what, apps like adobe flash dont move to sd without app2sd
IF YOU LIKE MY WORK, THANK ME BY THE BUTTON BELOW
Because apps like this aren't designed to sit in sdcard.

The stock settings app does the same, and it dont move apps to your Sd card but to the internal sd.

So lately I've noticed that my SD card is apparently full, like I'll get warning messages when downloading apps and stuff that the storage space is insufficient. But I know the overall storage space and I haven't used anywhere near that much. And I tried removing two files I didn't need through USB storage, and the space still didn't go up! I'm using cyanogenmod 9 on the Samsung galaxy exhibit 2 4G.

Its your internal storage not your SD card.

OK, but on app 2 SD it shows around 600 mb internal memory that is still usable. But when I go into what's on the SD card in that same app, it shows 0 free space which is also false. I know that the regular sdcard is the internal memory and ex-sd card or emmc is external. But still I dont have anything in there taking up that much space, app2sd shows that. And I've already dug around in root explorer and I couldn't find any massive data doing this.

Here, this is what app2sd is showing me.
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda premium
OK so I think the problem is that since cyanogenmod doesn't use the regular external SD card folder, and uses the emmc folder instead, that's causing this.

I am trying to inastall an app (The Amazing Spiderman) and my phone keeps saying I don't have enough free space.
The problem is that my phone seems to be including my Ext SD card in my USB storage.
My USB storage is 11.49gb in total. In the Misc section it says that i'm using 12.47gb! (this is my external SD) and then is says I have 5.93 available at the bottom.
Somewhere my phone is getting very confused between my USB storage and my ext SD card.
Can somebady please help?
You need about 2GB of space for the game to install !
Here's a screenshot of my memory usage. So weird!

Hello everyone i noticed after jellybean that none of the apps are no longer saved on the extsd, question is, is this caused by the apps because they still arent able to save themselves on the sd card because they were mean for ics or has the app2sd feature been removed on jellybean? I know theres a way around it but its still different thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Well what little I know is that apps2sd never supported galaxy s3, it is not jelly bean but Samsung made it like that. The other way is directory bind or you can install a zip file to interchange your storage.
Sent from my GT-I9300
It was like that on ICS too Samsung changed it on their new products

It appears that sadly the galaxy s3 i9300 is a lot less powerfull than say a galaxy s i9000. Your not allowed to have multiple large games or any other applications stored on the external memory card. You don't appear to be able to store applications and data on external sd card. Seems like a massive step backwards for Google or Samsung. Who knows who? I have a 64GB external sd card.and at least it appears I can st least store photos and music.
Am I wrong? We have such a powerful system we just can't run many large games before running out of core memory.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Well i guess thats that then i was happy with my 16gb from my s2 apparently i have to go 64 and do the app to sd mod, hopefully were not headed to the apple way of things with us having to buy larger memory versions of what we have hehe, but still this phone is awesome and i love it!!! one more question, if any of you have tried the app2sd mod (not the directory bind) do i copy over all my stuff to the sd card or i wipe everything then transfer my tibackup files to the sd card then restore everything or will there be an option that i can now transfer my apps to the sd card?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
its not galaxy s3 but jelly bean 4.x
The app2sd problem is not that of galaxy s3...its that of jelly bean 4.1 and above...it seams google got angry and jellous with all the mobile firms givings sd card slot while its nexus 4 doesnt...so it made the sd uselss! I'm writing this from my Sony xperia z which has jelly bean 4.1.1 and i too cannot use my sd card to store apps or games! Shame on u google!

Hi all
I own an SGS 1 so I'm on CM10.1 with Semaphore kernel which is supporting live oc (and I've managed to live oc it up to 128% working stable), so it's a month now I've purchased a used sgs2 and wanted to get it higher as my older sgs1, having in mind it's dual core and using 1gb ram I think it's going to be lot faster than my sgs1
So I saw there are plenty of options for roms based on cm10.1 and even cm10.1 itself as on sgs1!
But although I've searched quite a lot, haven't found easily a kernel supporting live oc!! Isn't there such an option for sgs2?
Also whats' the limit of OC/LIVE OC in rough words of course (I know that it depends on each certain device) and what are your average scores in Antutu?? Are they really around 12000?
EDIT: Since I've been start searching for two days now on issues other people deal with I've found lot of threads and posts commenting about the internal storage that it's divided in 2 parts.....2gb for the whole rom-apps + almost 12 gb for the user!!
Now is this true?!?!
I'm using the sgs1 8gb internal card as a whole....isn't it the same here on SGS 2?
So if I install let's say Asphalt 7 which screams for almost 1.5gb, data goes straight to 2gb "system" partition?? Or maybe "data" folder is on the 12gb partition?
Can't this be used as a whole?
Thank you all
C'ya
I believe I ve placed my question in the right place...but no answer from anyone???!!!

Search in original Android Development section for kernels that supports oc.
And the maximum oc is 1.6 ghz but the stable is 1.4.ghz but the oc will drain the battery even faster.
And you don't need to oc this phone his 1 gb ram and 1.2 ghz will not give you any lag on any hd apps.

Those 2 partitions that are divided our internal storage is system and sd card.
In the system are going all apps that you'll gonna install and in the sd card will going all data from those apps.
Hope I clear you out

Photos and video recordings are going straight to sd card(not the 2gb partition) hopefully??

the Videos an Photos will never go to system or app partition... unless you have a cam app that's support root access..
