my phone was getting slow last week and suddenly yesterday it wasn't responding at all, when i tried restarting it..it stop at the Galaxy S3 i9300 screen
i tried to flash stock jellybean this morning that's when everything went to hell
i think the first error that it wasn't able to write NAND (it may be related that the phone wasn't charged probably,i know that now).. anyway on my several retires i think i might have checked the repartition option accidentally cause now all i'm getting "There is no PIT partition." error
after more searching someone said GT-I9300_mx_20120220 is the pit for galaxy S3 16G..so i tried it, Odin freezes at get mapping
what else can i do?i don't have a warranty so i want to try to fix it myself
PS. i noticed when i put the phone on the charger now ..that the battery picture with the circle above it not responding or moving at all..also the red led is not on!!!

Ather reading up a lot of years on xda, and able to fix a lot of things (Thanks!) i finally screwed up
Got a Galaxy S2/gt-i9100 from friend and it got stuck in a bootloop (no special cause, just got into it after a dead battery/reboot), (no recovery, just download mode)
Main problem was with flashing new/custom/stock bootloaders/firmwire/kernels Odin just wouldnt let me finish, and mostly got stuck at Nand write fail. (is this indication that internal memory is screwed, no flashing would work at all, or did i had an option?)
So i took the step to thick the repartition (Firmwire from sammmobile and pit file from droidevelopers) and hoped for the best.. after about 5 minutes i was pretty sure it got stuck again and disconnected tried to reboot and was going to try again..
now a black screen and not responding to anything -_-'
And i would like to know if a USB Jig could get it back into download mode or is the last resort to find a JTAG guy around? (can i verify if memory is really dead somehow?) Or any other options out there?
Unplugging during an Odin flash? That's nasty. 99.9% sure that'll be a new motherboard/jtag sorry. Last chance is to click my signature & look at the part for 'no download mode'... I pretty much guarantee it won't work though :/

Hi all
On Thursday evening, my cellphone was drained flat as usual by the evening.
When I got home, I put it on charge. After a few minutes I tried turning it on, it got stuck at the Samsung splash screen,
wouldn't boot any further. After trying a few times, removing the battery, etc, I ended up just leaving it off but on charge
the whole night. The battery was fully charged the next morning(so it's not a battery issue). I had the same issues that
morning.
I spent the whole day on Friday, trying to fix this cellphone of mine. I tried tons of fixes I found on this forum(although
a lot of them use programs/files uploaded to a file service that has been closed down[really annoying]). Posting here
is definitely my last resort, I can't think of anything else to try...
I have tried flashing the firmware
I tried to get Kies to do a firmware update and initilisation
I tried various fixes and went through many, many forum posts.
Last thing I tried is to flash the .PIT and flash what I thought was the original firmware I eventually got hold of from sammobile
I tried the last step twice and am busy downloading another version.
What happened with this, is it'll boot, I see the android with his stomach open and something happening inside, it then reboots
and does exactly the same thing as it had previously done, gets stuck on the Samsung splash.
Could someone maybe step me through how to flash it again? I think I need to basically start from scratch, new PIT and all.
I have the GT-i9300(International) 32Gb - I bought it in South Africa
Thanks very much for any help in advance

Sounds like partition corruption when the battery went flat. If flashing a full rom or the rescue firmware (see general thread), followed by a factory reset, didn't help then you'll probably need a new motherboard.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to fix a friend's sgs3. He says his device ran out of battery while upgrading (over the air I think), and since then the device only shows black and white stripes on the screen when "on" (doesn't even show the boot samsung effect, let alone getting into the OS) . I have the device, and have tried to get it into download mode using the regular procedure, and failed everytime except once, when i really got in, but then ODIN said that I needed a PIT file, and by the time I found one the device was already stuck and I couldn't get it into download mode again ever since.
When in zebra mode, ODIN does communicate with the device, but fails everytime I try to do something (flashing a PDA file with PIT, without it, or even when I try the NAND erase, about which I read stuff on the web and it seemed like my case required it).
I'm doing all this just because my friend wants to avoid getting the phone to the phone lab (costy).
BTW he has no warranty.
The device is a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 32GB.
My gratitudes for any response.
Edit: The problem with odin is that he always says "There's no pit parition", which is driving me crazy, because I tried every PIT I could find on the web and it just didn't work - odin keeps on being stuck on "Setup connection". (I can now get into download mode easily)
Im using 3.10, the latest odin I could find.
Try reading the dead boot restore thread in general forum, it sounds like your emmc is fried.
I can't find it, can I have a link?
I got an S3 here from my neighbour, who comes to me when having tech problems,
He claims that it restarted suddently and hung up on the samsung logo. As it froze he took out the battery and aince then it odoesent boot to the system.
When we turn it on, we see something like pixel issues or something. But its software related, which i can tell by entering download mode and there not even one pixel showed up. Everythings fine in download mode, exept that i csnt flash anything. Tried single roms, pit file and 3 piced roms: error on pit file every damn time. Dont know what to do. Plz guys help.
Ps: i dont think its sudden death, cause i wouldnt be able to enter downloadmode then, am i right?
Emmc chip is damaged, new motherboard or phone.
Hello androiders,
Recently my friend drowned his S6 and told me that he needs a spare phone. He has one, but it's messed up he said. So as a good friend I took that phone home and it appears to be Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 international model for baltic countries. The phone was always kept factory set and never rooted or tweaked in any other way. I am also a really early begginner in this android business, so I am not completely sure what I did.
At first I thought, well, no problem I'm just gonna connect it to Kies and do an emergency recovery. But no, Kies downloads the files all right, but hangs on 0% when installing, also the phone doesn't show any progress bar in download mode. So I abandoned the Kies idea.
Then I said ok, let's try Odin. Got the ROM from Sammobile, checked the tutorials and tried flashing. It went okay for about 80% and then said "FAIL!". After browsing through the abbyss of Google I found that you have to extract the missing.img file and reformat it o .tar, then flash it again. Did that and it semi worked, it started booting! BUT nothing lasts forever, the phone started showing error messages in red and it looks like the phone cannot read the data flashed into it.
So, people, I am asking for your help. I think I need to delete every single crumb of information from the phone and write everything manually in it. Or don't I?
