I got an S3 here from my neighbour, who comes to me when having tech problems,
He claims that it restarted suddently and hung up on the samsung logo. As it froze he took out the battery and aince then it odoesent boot to the system.
When we turn it on, we see something like pixel issues or something. But its software related, which i can tell by entering download mode and there not even one pixel showed up. Everythings fine in download mode, exept that i csnt flash anything. Tried single roms, pit file and 3 piced roms: error on pit file every damn time. Dont know what to do. Plz guys help.
Ps: i dont think its sudden death, cause i wouldnt be able to enter downloadmode then, am i right?
Emmc chip is damaged, new motherboard or phone.

my phone was getting slow last week and suddenly yesterday it wasn't responding at all, when i tried restarting it..it stop at the Galaxy S3 i9300 screen
i tried to flash stock jellybean this morning that's when everything went to hell
i think the first error that it wasn't able to write NAND (it may be related that the phone wasn't charged probably,i know that now).. anyway on my several retires i think i might have checked the repartition option accidentally cause now all i'm getting "There is no PIT partition." error
after more searching someone said GT-I9300_mx_20120220 is the pit for galaxy S3 16G..so i tried it, Odin freezes at get mapping
what else can i do?i don't have a warranty so i want to try to fix it myself
PS. i noticed when i put the phone on the charger now ..that the battery picture with the circle above it not responding or moving at all..also the red led is not on!!!

Hello!
Having a problem with i9300 device.(4.3 rom)
The phone starts up. Can use device for approx. 2 minutes, then freezes, screen goes blank and phone restarts automatically.
Recovery mode does not hang but is kind of slow and does not always reply to pushing volume up/down.
Have tried setting usb debugging on to flash but no use,if phone freezes so fast.
Also tried several times recovery mode-wiping and restoring to factory, but it doesn´t help. Phone still freezes after 1-2 minutes.
May You please offer a solution I could try?
Thanks!
rom?
original rom. phone has never been modded, used only latest update by samsung.I can write exact rom version in the evening.
Boot into download mode and see it happens there. If not then flash the latest stock firmware for your country with odin, factory reset in recovery before first boot.
If the phone freezes or reboots while in download mode then you have a hardware fault.

I will try that in evening and will let You know how it worked out. :good:
Tried latest firmware with odin. Download mode works fine and goes all the way to the end. but after finishing and first boot, setting up android language etc. for the first time, it hangs about 1 minute again.
hardware faulty then?
Yes, it sounds like it -something is breaking down after a little use.
if some part of hardware is faulty, is there maybe some kind of diagnostic tool that I can run without booting android fully up? then I could get to know what kind of system part is problematic. If I'd find out problematic part, maybe there would be a change to modify android rom, so the problematic part of system would be turned off always?
just an idea
I doubt it, even Samsung don't bother with component diagnostic -they just replace the motherboard.
My wife had a similar problem with her phone. I downloaded Dummy File Generator from the Play Store n ran the application. Been more than 6 months now with no lag.
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to fix a friend's sgs3. He says his device ran out of battery while upgrading (over the air I think), and since then the device only shows black and white stripes on the screen when "on" (doesn't even show the boot samsung effect, let alone getting into the OS) . I have the device, and have tried to get it into download mode using the regular procedure, and failed everytime except once, when i really got in, but then ODIN said that I needed a PIT file, and by the time I found one the device was already stuck and I couldn't get it into download mode again ever since.
When in zebra mode, ODIN does communicate with the device, but fails everytime I try to do something (flashing a PDA file with PIT, without it, or even when I try the NAND erase, about which I read stuff on the web and it seemed like my case required it).
I'm doing all this just because my friend wants to avoid getting the phone to the phone lab (costy).
BTW he has no warranty.
The device is a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 32GB.
My gratitudes for any response.
Edit: The problem with odin is that he always says "There's no pit parition", which is driving me crazy, because I tried every PIT I could find on the web and it just didn't work - odin keeps on being stuck on "Setup connection". (I can now get into download mode easily)
Im using 3.10, the latest odin I could find.
Try reading the dead boot restore thread in general forum, it sounds like your emmc is fried.
I can't find it, can I have a link?
1. The galaxy hangs during normal work(it had custom ROM but was working fine for years), the display showed messed up image and was unresponsive, had to remove the battery(so it was caused by bug or flash storage error).
2. The galaxy could no longer be booted, it was stuck on Samsung Galaxy S II screen and in bootloop(if the flash storage partitions are bugged, I guess it can't boot the SPL and the device is stuck in the main bootloader, is it located in separate ROM chip or in the storage flash chip?).
3. It couldn't boot to recovery, only to download(odin) mode(again I guess it's part of the bootloader on the separate rom chip).
4. Tried to reflash, had to interrupt the operation because it didn't started at all(no progress on NAND write flash).
5. Tried to repartition with .pid file, again no progress with the operation.
6. After that, the device is completely dead, we tried removing the battery, using the charger and other common stuff but it can't be started anyway.
So can the failed repartition/flash operations bug the ROM bootloader so when you press the power button the CPU can no longer execute any instruction(I guess it's hardwired to some init instructions in the bootloader).
Any information about the internal storage chips or any ideas what to do?
Same problem here
Hi I've got the same problem with my phone since i've updated my cm13 on sgs II phone seemed to be working perfectly but around month later woke up and saw that my phone stuck on samsung logo (Same as your did) what i've done was restart to see is it works or recorvery boot up but nothing seemed to be happening. After some time decided to reinstall OS using odin but phone been comp[letely inresponsible to what i've tried to put on it (always been stuck on Nand write start (tried everything)). I tried to repartition it again but after that same as your phone died without any sensible reason. I "temporary" fixed it by pealing off the motherboard specific conductor. It even boot up but afterr that i runned out of charge died again. I can feel that phone is starting to be warm just like it's working but i still have black screen of death, so is there anybody who might actually help with this thread ?

same thing happened to my galaxy grand 2

Okay so i have a Samsung galaxy s3 GT-19300 Anyhow the phone was working fine perfect condition! Not a single problem But i fell asleep during a reformat for a friend and the phone got stuck on the boot-logo, I was originally able to put CW recovery but once in nothing i did would work, reformats would fail, cache wipes would fail The phone it's self had all the files on it still but non of which could be accessed by any format attempts It was also saying something about not being able to access an SD-card which i ended up trying with or without no luck, Anyhow after trying to tincker with it with odin to try and get some sort of life out of the phone something to write over the corrupted files. Nothing now the phone can boot into download mode, Without any screen-errors at all so i know my screen is perfectly fine. But if i try and boot it normally or with odin something really messed up happens i.imgur.com/lPaRreV.jpg Regardless to that happening the phone now when trying to do anything with odin will say No pit file But if you try and put a pit or do anything with any option on odin the program will say connecting to phone and not continue past that, and also when you try with Kies it will take a long time trying to connection the the phone then will say the phone timed out restart the phone to fix Nothing i do seems to fix this damn phone is it dead? Like i said earlier i can enter download-mode perfectly fine, no screen issues but still same results with odin and kies nothing works, can't put recovery mods on can't do anything
If odin can see it in download mode just flash a stock rom.
If its a btu here is the stuff you need: https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0B4vTiHTBB629ZW5vQndpbjFnblk/edit
If it wont flash the stock rom then its buggered.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
