Hello!
Having a problem with i9300 device.(4.3 rom)
The phone starts up. Can use device for approx. 2 minutes, then freezes, screen goes blank and phone restarts automatically.
Recovery mode does not hang but is kind of slow and does not always reply to pushing volume up/down.
Have tried setting usb debugging on to flash but no use,if phone freezes so fast.
Also tried several times recovery mode-wiping and restoring to factory, but it doesn´t help. Phone still freezes after 1-2 minutes.
May You please offer a solution I could try?
Thanks!
rom?
original rom. phone has never been modded, used only latest update by samsung.I can write exact rom version in the evening.
Boot into download mode and see it happens there. If not then flash the latest stock firmware for your country with odin, factory reset in recovery before first boot.
If the phone freezes or reboots while in download mode then you have a hardware fault.

I will try that in evening and will let You know how it worked out. :good:
Tried latest firmware with odin. Download mode works fine and goes all the way to the end. but after finishing and first boot, setting up android language etc. for the first time, it hangs about 1 minute again.
hardware faulty then?
Yes, it sounds like it -something is breaking down after a little use.
if some part of hardware is faulty, is there maybe some kind of diagnostic tool that I can run without booting android fully up? then I could get to know what kind of system part is problematic. If I'd find out problematic part, maybe there would be a change to modify android rom, so the problematic part of system would be turned off always?
just an idea
I doubt it, even Samsung don't bother with component diagnostic -they just replace the motherboard.
My wife had a similar problem with her phone. I downloaded Dummy File Generator from the Play Store n ran the application. Been more than 6 months now with no lag.

I have a Dell Streak which is on O2 (UK). Sometimes it will boot up and randomly turn off, and other times it reaches the O2 logo and then reboots. The battery works fine in another Dell Streak, so it's definitely a handset problem.
I tried updating the software (still on version 1, says version 2 is available), but it takes me to Dell's site and then tries to load Google's terms and has "%locale%" in the middle of the URL, which suggests to me the device doesn't know its own locale. I tried replacing %locale% with 'GB' and sure enough it loaded the page.
I have tried holding both volume buttons and powering it on, selected Factory Reset, which then shows the temporary white screen and tries to reboot, but then I just get a blank screen constantly.
Is the next step trying a reflash via USB? If so, is there any way I can flash it to O2 UK to retain the warranty?

We have no way of telling you if it's under warranty withouth knowing when you bought it and what you have done to it.
But you need to flash the baseband files for your region then download the correct updated package for the baseband files you flashed, flash the ROM package and you should be good to go if you don't have a hardware problem. If you don't understand any of that, then you still have hours of reading to do
The only joy I've had is installing the O2 recovery image that was first released. That allowed the phone to boot up again, which hasn't happened in the past few days.
Then, halfway through downloading the official update, it rebooted.
I get the feeling the only way I'll get this working is if the phone stays on long enough to install the update, which is proving to be difficult.
Still having issues!
Every time I try to install Update.pkg, the LEDs flash for a few seconds, then the phone cuts out.
I've read that this means the baseband doesn't match -- but I've installed the O2 recovery.img?
Any ideas where I might be going wrong?

OK, you have flashed the o2 recovery image, so are you sure that you are trying to flash the 319 ROM because that's the latest 02 as far as I can tell
I've flashed various recovery files and today I managed to keep the phone on long enough to realise the phone's build number is 3883 (it's still on 1.6 software).
So I put build 3883's recovery image on the phone and 3883's update.pkg on the memory card.
The phone starts flashing the update pkg and then turns off! I literally cannot flash this phone via memory card.
I've also tried other build versions to see if they'll flash (including the latest), but no joy.
Does this baseband make any difference? It's GAUSB1A110421-EU
The intermittent nature of this device in unreal -- I can only assume it's hardware failure as it went from turning off intermittently, to not booting at all, and now it won't turn on whatsoever, even into fastboot mode.
I officially give up and I'm sending the unit to Dell!
Hi,
Usually, when I have a problem, I usually search for it and try to see if others have found a solution to it, but after hours of searching, I'm nearly at my wit's end.
I've had my Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 for a while now and I flashed it the first day I got it, with alice90's ROM found here.
In the beginning, the custom ROM worked fine, but after a while, my device started periodically crashing and rebooting seemingly randomly, but especially during times of heavy usage. After one of these episodes, my device just wouldn't boot up at all and was stuck at the Samsung loading screen. After searching around for a while, I found out how to enter Recovery Mode and tried to reset it to factory default that way. However, this had no effect on the problem and made it even worse, as the condition is as the same as before, but now I can't even enter Recovery Mode or Download Mode. I think that it is soft bricked, but can't be sure. Every time that I do try to boot it up, it stays stuck on the Samsung screen for a while then tries to restart.
The model is YP-GI1CB/XXA, if it helps.
Can it be restored at all, and if so, how? Thanks in advance for any answers.

I did this and tried to flash it with Odin to revert back to the stock ROM, but since my device can't go into Download Mode, Odin can't do anything. Is there a way to force it to go into Download Mode?

Could you describe a little more what your device is doing, like bootlooping or black screen and how you flashed it(did you put the rom in the pda section). Also you could try a usb jig to get in download mode.
Edit: Sorry I've just readed your first post and now I Know it's bootlooping. Wich way did you try to get into download mode?
If you want to force it in download mode remove battery then put back in and hold power and both volume buttons at the same time

Hello people,
I am wokring on an international verson of Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 of a friend of mine.
His devise freezed at the Galaxy S 3 logo at the beginning and couldn't go any forward.
He took it to a guy that repairs phones and he told him that it's a hardware problame and needs 150 euro to fix it.
So i asked him if he wants me to give a try and see if it's not a hardware problem.
Anyway i will give you as many details as possible to tell me what you think.
As i said before its GT-I9300, no root, unbranded, but i am not sure about the firmware. Most probably it's at 4.3. No SD card.
The phone starts only until the Galaxy S 3 logo and freezes there.
When i press the power button the phone shuts off but then immediately reboots by itself but again freezes at the Galaxy logo.
I do have access to both recovery and download mode so i believed that i could do something but unfortunately so far nothing.
I have tried to do factory reset but during the process it reboots. I wiped succesfully the dalvic cache and the battery stats but i cannot do factory reset.
I also tried through Kies to do emergency recovery but again during the process it tells me that there is an error with the phone and couldn't go forward.
Then i tried with Odin to root the phone. I have found the correct PDA file (i think) and again started the process but i got FAIL.
Then i tried with custom roms. I have put 2-3 custom roms that i had on my pc. I trasfered them on an external SD card and tried to install them through Recovery mode. The process starts ok and allows me select the options of the installation but at the point where it tries to wipe the data it stops and automatically reboots.
I have tried to install the custom rom without full wipe but again it stops and reboots.
I browsed in a lot of sites but i haven't found anything else so far that could save this phone.
So i open to any suggestions you may have.
Is it really hardware issue?
It's strange though because the phone starts up to a point and i have access on both recovery and download mode.
Thank you very much in advance.
it seems hardware problem....
Hi, I've been browsing the forums for people's attempts to fix a problem. At first the phone just turned off and I was unable to turn it on because it was stuck in a boot loop. The rom I had running was an ICS stock rom from hk. During this time i was still able to get into download mode but unable to enter recovery. I have tried many times to get to recovery and then tried to flash with several stock roms too. Upon failing around 10 times I moved on to a custom rom.
This one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/guide-26-12-flash-stock-firmware-rom-t2365701
The Jelly bean one here.
Upon failing from this too and unable to do anything but reset the phone and try again. I managed to turn it off... but now unable to turn it on in any way or get into download mode or recovery.
Is there anything I can try to do to get the phone to be working? What can I do?
Try a jig but understand it's very unlikely to get you into download mode. Service centre or local mobile repair shop for diagnosis (I also doubt it will be JTAG'able).
Edit - Also, search for KingRat's 'jump start' method where you try & boot the phone with just the charger/without the battery.

Don't loose hope mate...
Try remove battery and insert charger (optional)...
Press voldown+home+power button then let someone (your mother, father, brother, sister, neighbor or friends) insert the battery for you while still pressing those 3 keys...
I hope it will enter to download mode again...and report back please...
Try to use an other battery, my original one is fuked up, it does nothing.
I bought a new one and it works
I tried plugging my charger to the phone and pressing the 3 buttons and then having someone plug the battery in for me, still wouldn't start up. Also tried it with another battery i have on hand, also no luck.
You know what the options are then. Ignore people making ridiculous suggestions which don't work. My aim is to be honest with people, tell them the truth, and have them either get their phones fixed or replaced as quickly as possible in this situation (let's face it, nobody likes to be without a phone), rather than fill them with false hope & waste their time.
I think I fried my mobo while trying to flash it cause it does head up the phone without showing anything. I am going to order parts on ebay. I got this confirmed by someone at a shop near where I live, however they won't replace the mobo for me even if i do find a working one.
=) luckily this isn't my phone but my dad's who works at home and doesn't mind using an OLD OLD flip phone just for calls for the time being.
Side question, even if i replace the mobo and I get it booted but I still get stuck in the boot screen loop and unable to flash to any stock roms what can I do?
If you replace the motherboard you should fix it without further problems. New motherboard = new NAND, no more bootloop - unless you flash again & the flash is bad; you can't mitigate the risk of a bad flash, you can only do all the sensible things like making sure you're using a PC with reliable USB ports, that you're flashing the correct firmware for your device, that you're using an original Samsung USB cable. Basically, if you're careful, the risk with any given flash is very low.
So, fix the hardware problem, flash stock for your country/carrier once you've done that, and go from there.
So i have a galaxy s5, was running Cyanogenmod 12
my phone was freezing and rebooting then eventually it was stuck and would only boot into download mode
so i cut my losses and flashed stock 4.2 and 5.1.1 (files from samMobile matched model number) and the problems persist
cleared cache and factory reset multiple times and booting in safe mode doesn't fix anything
the phone freezes on samsung splash screen usually mid animation, sometimes i get to tmobile screen when it freezes.
sometimes it will boot without any problems and work normally for a few seconds then freeze and shut off into the same loop
i have searched and can't find any advice past (flash stock and your good )
oh and knox counter 0X1 (2) so no warranty for this guy.
What a helpful forums
I would recommend taking out your sim card and memory card before doing a factory reset. Once done let it boot and see what happens. If it works ok aka boots fine let it sit for 10 min. Now power it down and put your sim card in only and boot up again. Wait the 10 mins again to see if anything happens. If all good power off and put the memory card back in and repeat. Also do not sign into your google account while doing this. Do not sync anything. Just do it bare bones. If everything seems to go well, then you can slowly start putting stuff on and syncing things. when you notice it starting to happen undo the last thing you change/added. Hope that helps. And remember to be nice. Sometimes it takes a while to get help. Being rude isnt the answer pal. Good luck and hope you had a good holiday.

after all that, doesnt it sound like a problem with hardware? sure is a lot like when a pc is malfunctioning (due to overclock or damage, etc)
my only ideas are try turning it on in cold weather, plugged into wall power, & an extreme case... maybe modifying a kernel to give a little more voltage to the cpu & gpu... the idea is a bit out there, but again with the pc example, there's a chance for it to do the trick, but also chance to accelerate damage IF it's entirely based on usage (but if it's dying already, there's no going back)
my pc gpu failed in an interesting way a few years ago, i was playing limbo of all things, not a demanding game, capped at 60fps, then the whole system froze randomly, so i restart, start game again, froze again, think i had one more go until artifacts appeared on screen & it froze/bsod'd as soon as the driver loaded, a clear hardware death
Same Problem
