I recently recieved a Double Power M975 9" tablet as a gift. I have been unable to find any information regarding rooting this tablet.
I am not a total n00b, but rooting is not my forte. I can follow instructions and make logical connections well enough to do a root, but I am honestly at a loss for how to root this thing.
I don't know what all information is required for someone smarter than I to figure it out and relay the steps, but here's the basic info of the Tablet.
Double Power M975 (aka DOPO)
Android Version 4.04
Kernel 3.08+ (also says [email protected] #99, dunno if that's important)
Build Number A9 v01b
Internal Storage is 0.98Gb, with NAND Flash of 5.27Gb, and I have a 32Gb Micro SD card in it.
9" Screen
If anyone knows how to root this thing, or if you need more info, please let me know below.
Thanks in advance.

I'm actually surprised there isn't more info or already a guide for this specific tablet, as it's available at Walmart and online, it's cheap and is the best option in its price range for size and the fact that is has Google Play pre installed. It's not a powerhouse, to be sure, but it has been around long enough that I thought someone would know how to root it already. I just wish I knew enough about rooting Android to figure it out myself.

I'm still not having any luck finding any info on rooting this specific device, or even generic root for 4.04.

Was in the same boat as you, so did some poking around the past few days. Just managed to root my Double Power M-975.
First problem was getting ADB drivers installed for the tablet. I found baudi's pdf that did it for me (attached below). Followed that, until the actual rooting at the end. To root, I used SferaDev's Root Rk29 Toolkit (also attached).
Hope this works for you too!

DUDE!!! Thank you so much! It totally worked!
For anyone who reads this, know that the linked .pdf is out of date. The majority of it is still valid, however the adb_usb.ini file does not exist. You will have to manually create it in the listed location (make sure to remove the .txt extension and make it an .ini) and the sdk manager file does not exist. You can access the sdk manager through eclipse.exe in the Eclipse folder.

You must have downloaded the ADT Bundle. I did too the first time.
On the Android SDK website if you click "Download for other platforms" then under "SDK tools only" select the zip file for windows you will get the package referred to in the pdf.
I also had to go into device manager and manually update the driver via the method described in the pdf.
The more you know...
Okay so how come I'm the only one not having any luck with this? I'm new to the whole rooting thing BTW...

Hi, I know u posted a while back. I tried this on my M975, but my PC doesn't install the driver; it says incorrect line on INI file . Would u be willing to post your INI so I can see if we got the same format? Also, could u please explain how u used the root kit to actually root? Thnx.
Hey all.
I have a DOPO EM63 7" tab, and I'd like to share how I rooted it. I figure most of the DOPO devices will be the same.
1.) Install JDK, Android SDK (the zip file {choose download for other platforms}) and do everything else in steps 1-12 from the pdf in this thread.
2.) Go here (xda link) and do steps 2-11
3.) Laugh about how easy it was.
If anyone can't look at the pdf and other thread, I can post full steps.
It works. Out of every method I've tried, this one worked.
I have to add, some steps are outdated (ie. Step 7 from the link: just click "Root" on the pc screen)
And yes, the program is in Chinese - but it is easily understood (everything you need is in English)
Also, I don't know if the Moborobo program is necessary (seeing as we have drivers already) but it doesn't hurt to use it anyway.

That's awesome! I actually cracked mine (a single tear rolls down my cheek) but a relative gave me hers, which is an identical model (tear dries up instantly), so I'll try this as soon as I can. Will let you all know what happens.
I'll check my build, too.
Thanks for the info!
EDIT: Please make that your signature ("Oh happy day!"). That would make me very happy.

Mine is a froyo 2.2.1 device (ViewSonice VB730), I tried z4root, instant root, DPRoot, and many many many rooting apk but it is not working, some of them are FC or some of them are stucking in "attempting to apply root"
I tried to use SuperOneClick but since I can't find a suitable driver for it, so when I use "adb devices", the list is empty.
I also checked out about some article about how to manually root a devices with PC, seems I have to copy the necessary file first to /data then run the exploit. Since I dont have the driver, I tried to do it with Terminal Emulator and tried to grand access right of /data but failed.
cd /data/
$ ls
ls: can't open '.' : Permission denied
$ chmod 777/data
chmod: /data. Operation not permitted
What should I do
Still no one answer this..
Sorry, I cant help you. Just interested in the right answers.
Not sure but if you can find a copy of Z4Root it might work on Froyo

There are so many people out there talking about rooting their devices everywhere, maybe you can try some. Next time I will copy for you.

I heard about this method before, but the main problem is I can't find the suitable driver for the device so I am not able to perform any action related to the adb.. can you tell me which one you have choosen which one for your Creative ZiiO 7"? Thanks a lot!
few days a pump
I'm going to say I have the same problem with the VB730. I wish to root this thing but can't seem to make it work (in spite of hours and hours of work). Programs I've tried:
Z4 Root
Universal Androot
Instant Root
SuperOneClick
I've also attempted to do it by hand. No dice. I have installed File Expert which allows me to see all the files including the system files, however, I cannot write to these files nor change them without at least temporary root access.
After looking around though, I think the problem seems to be the same as the Creative ZiiO tablet in that there is no driver available for the USB debugging and even once you get those files, the Android system files aren't in normal places so you'd have to figure out a workaround for it.
I tried following the guide here and I believe this would work but for the problem of the USB driver. I wrote to ViewSonic asking for a solution to get my USB Debugging to work but they have no idea what to do it seems. Or they just don't care enough to figure it out.
I tried using the PID, VID and MI for the ZiiO as per the guide (despite it being for a different vendor and product) which got the driver to install and recognize the VB730 as an Android device (when first installed, it came up with a bad parameter but I restarted the device, reinstalled the driver and the problem disappeared) but I am unsure where to make and put the adb_usb.ini file as there isn't a ".android" file located on the VB730 (there IS a ".android_secure" folder on the write-able portion though). So, when checking for devices through ADB I get a readout that says no devices are connected.
Anyone have any ideas on what else I (we) could try? Thanks both for the help already given and any still to come!

Nope! That's the version I tried. Not going to work.
I'm a complete noob and I've searched the forums and can't find an answer to my questions. (I'm sure there's some answer in Japanese on a Japanese forum somewhere, but my Japanese is not up to that level.)
I have a Toshiba Regza IS04 from AU (in Japan).
Running Android 2.2.2
Baseband Version 5014.1907.39
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9-rel [email protected] #1
Build Number FFK300
I have been researching rooting on and off for months since I first got the phone and have decided I would like to root it. My reasons for rooting:
1. I want to get rid of all the apps that were pre-installed that I don't use.
2. I would like to have the latest version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. (I doubt that another authorized upgrade from au is ever going to happen, since the 2.1 to 2.2 upgrade.)
It seems from reading forums that there are special builds of an OS depending on the phone?
My questions:
1. What is the best way to backup my phone before rooting?
2. What would be the best rooting method for my phone (SuperOneClick?)?
3. How can I (or even can I) upgrade my Android to 4.0?
Thanks for any help!!
Sam
To answer my own question, in case any one else wants to know:
Okay... it looks like I cannot post external links... until I post 8 times, which I don't really predict doing... so I'm going to try just removing the http at the beginning and see if it will go.
Superoneclick v2.2 does NOT work with this phone. It gets through "Rooting device... Step #7" but cannot remount.
Unrevoked does not work.
Z4root also does not work.
But I found a Japanese site with directions that did work! YES!!
hibari.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/smartphone/1320415141/
Somewhere in the page was the following information and link:
■auto_rootkit_is04_v0.5+suhax
hotfile.com/dl/134084004/f59084e/auto_rootkit_is04_v0.5suhax.zip.html
I downloaded the zip file and extracted it. I clicked on adb.exe first and then clicked on the auto_rootkit_is04 batch file. I just hit enter after each step. (It's in Japanese, but all it says is each step it is doing and then to hit any key.)
The first time I ran it, it did not work. The second time, I turned my phone off and on again before trying anything, and bingo: I had root!
Some of the Japanese threads were saying something about the problem with superoneclick was that the is04 took too long to mount and so there was an error. At least, I think that's what it said. My Japanese is okay, but not always good enough for this type of stuff.
I hope this can help someone else.
Thank you so much for this response!
I have the same phone, and I've been wanting to root it for a long time. There were so many pre-installed applications that are just hogging room, especially since I can't read Japanese well enough (yet).
-T
I hope it works for you too!
I spent probably the equivalent of 2-3 days searching over the last few weeks, but couldn't find anything that I was comfortable with trying.
This morning, I finally got the nerve up to try superoneclick and was really disappointed when it wouldn't work. Then I started trying all kinds of methods, and about 8 hours later finally came across the method that worked!
It's probably the only thing frustrating sometimes about having a Japanese phone: lack of English support!
Now I'm just hoping I don't break it! I'm backing up all the apps with Titanium backup before I start deleting them one by one. I would hate to delete something that is crucial to the system and not be able to restore it. I'm also looking into other ways to backup the system.
One word of warning. Your au one market will not work unless you do one more step. It's mentioned in English in the readme file. I didn't bother because I never download from it anyway. (Although, I probably should just so I'll keep getting updates on some of the J apps that I do have.)

hi!
I am a newbie here and like you all, I would also like to root my regza phone. Can someone give a working auto_rootkit because the link above is not working. I have searched it as well on the net but still all will lead me to dead hotfile link. Or someone could send me the file instead to my yahoo mail [email protected] tnx in advance
And also i have downloaded this rootkit instead from IS04 and downloaded. After dowloading, I click the adb file and it appears a command screen with commands running so fast. Next i did click the root file and there appeared a command screen with all sorts of command running so fast. My question is, i did not received any confirmation that the rooting process was succesfull. And also i have read to other forums that one thing you will notice that rooting was successfull is that 'superuser" will be automatically installed.
Please help me on this one. To be honest I started exploring this process since i have this phone and there are apps that i wanted to uninstall not unless i root the phone.
Thank you in advance

Hi
I have this phone too. And I try to get root, you can send for me the link of you downloaded and explain for me how you made it.
Other question, I can use this phone to call in brasil?
Thank you.
:good:
My phone just had this phone and I'm trying to update it before rooting. It came with 2.1-update 1 OS version and I'm trying to update the phone to it's latest official 2.2.2.
I've downloaded the necessary 256mb file update but it didn't work. Even tried using the recovery but is still not working.
Based on my research about this phone, There's no way to update without the phone downloading the app from the official website, using the SIM and au logins.
We've lost the sim (UIM) card that came with the phone. So I guess its stuck on its current OS. I'm having trouble installing apks (Gingerbreak and even normal apps) as it always gives me the error "parsing error" or something.
Is there anyone could help?
EDIT:
I have successfully updated the phone from Android 2.1-update1 to Android 2.2.2.
Download all the necessary files here:
http://www.fmworld.net/product/phone/is04/
I have used the method of updating from the least upgrade and up to the latest. I have managed to download 3 separate files for the upgrade, namely:
IS04_RC2_RC3RE_DL.zip
IS04_RC_4.zip
IS04_TO_SP_FYRC_4.zip <- froyo update
I have extracted all the files on the sd card. make sure that the ".enc" file is found on the root of the SD Card and on the "prg" folder.
I have updated it using the recovery mode (power + volume up + camera button).
I am now currently trying to Root the device using Gingerbreak and seems that it's taking too long to root.
Also. I have able to root the 2.1-update OS using z4root.

The first time I ran it, it did not work. The second time, I turned my phone off and on again before trying anything, and bingo: I had root!
.....
.....
I hope this can help someone else.

Thx so much for your posts.
I am so glad to finally find someone with the same phone, the same problem and intentions
I do, however, need more info:
Did you extract the files into any particular folder? You obviously hooked up in de-bug mode, but did you command prompt anything?
I tried your steps but get nothing to 'hit enter' on. I have also tried the other (different version) toolkit.
You can IM me or email or post or come around and root my phone yourself - I will sell you my car, house, wife...
... as you can tell I am a little frustrated ...
lets just IM/email for now
Thx in advance,
Kaz

Greeting,
It was heard that rooting T-01D are similar as F-05D.
I found a website regarding rooting F-05D, but I dont read Japanese, just want to know if anyone have tried the enclosed method to root T-01D?
or could anybody do the translation, since the terms become quite strange after using the online translators
The following link is ref. of rooting F-05D:

Update of 4/4
the following t-01d rooting procedures is provided by Magimaster
Hello.
I am sending this pm regarding the translation for flashing the Fujitsu f-05d sold by Docomo in Japan. I cannot reply in the development section due to my low post count.
My phone is an f-05d. I do not have a t-01d but, according to the original rooting guide for the f-05d, the users are reporting success in rooting the t-01d as well.
I will not really translate for you. Rather, I will explain what I did to root my f-05d.
Here is a rough summary of the steps I followed:
For starters, you need to make sure that adb recognizes your phone when connected to the PC via USB. This means that you need to install the Android SDK and the USB driver for your t-01d by Fujitsu.
I had trouble getting adb to recognize my phone, as Window$ insisted in recognizing it as an USB drive. What I did, among other things, was:
In the phone settings, go to Applications > Development and check USB Debigging and Stay awake.
Install the Google USB Driver package, in the extras section of the Android SDK Manager.
With the phone connected to the PC, go to Window$ device manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers and uninstall (use the delete key from your the keyboard) every mass storage device that appeared when my phone was connected. Disconnect and reconnect the usb cable.
Only until I did this final step was my phone recognized and listed as Android Phone > Android Composite ADB Interface in the device manager. If your device is not recognized, you just cannot continue. Look for help about this, or else you cannot move on with this method of rooting.
Confirm that your phone is recognized as Android Phone > Android Composite ADB Interface in the Window$ device manager. Do not continue until it is.
From the Android SDK manager, install the package android sdk platform-tools.
You need download F05Droot.zip from the original blog page your linked before. I will not link to the file directly, but you should have no problem finding it. Extract the files within into the program directory \Android\android-sdk\platform-tools (this is my path).
You need to download a replacement for the file lsm_disabler.ko that is inside the F05Droot.zip. Get it from here and extract it an replace the one inside the platform-tools directory.
By the way, this platform-tools directory is the one that has the adb executable file. Just a heads up.
You need to download su. I cannot tell you where to get it. I just do not know where I got mine from, but was easy so go for it When you have it, extract it and put it in the platform-tools directory.
Confirm that the platform-tools directory includes these files:
Code:
adb.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
AdbWinUsbApi.dll
su
lsm_disabler.ko
f05dsu.bat
There will be more, but these are the ones needed for this to work.
Now, get ready to root. Connect your phone to the PC.
Go to your phone settings > setting my body > step/activity counter app > pedometer use and confirm it is checked on.
In the platform-tools directory, look for f05dsu.bat and run it. A DOS window will open. This is the funny part. Unless you are doing this from a Japanese version of Window$, or from a Window$ with Japanese locale active, you will see a lot of strange symbols instead of Japanese characters... which would be the same for almost anyone anyway Regardless, you will see a prompt to Press any key to continue . . .. At this point, you do not need to do anything on your phone, other than visually checking that the check mark on the pedometer is set.
On the DOS window press any key, your will see more garbage and another prompt to press any key. This is the important part. See if you can find among all those symbols this pattern: OFF/ON. If you do see it, it means we are on track.
Now that you were able to see the OFF/ON, go to your phone and uncheck the pedometer (OFF) and check it again (ON).
In the DOS window, press any key. Your phone will reboot. The message in the DOS window says that you must wait for the phone to boot up and for Window$ to recognize your usb connection to the phone.
When/if your phone is recognized by Window$, go to the DOS window and press any key.
Again, press any key and your phone will reboot.
The DOS window has a message indicating that you must now install superuser and busybox. When your phone reboots, go to the android market and install from there when you have the time.
You can now close the DOS window because, unless there was any error, you are now rooted, my friend
From the market, install a terminal, or an app that includes a terminal. I use Rom Toolbox because it has a terminal and scripts to mount the /system as rw.
Open whatever terminal you chose and, at the $ prompt type su
If new prompt is #, type soff
You will need to run these commands every time before trying to mount /system as rw.
That is all. I hope you can root your phone.
Just a petition, post this message in the forums, as it may help others who have similar difficulties. It sure could have helped me if someone had done before me.
Have a nice one and please forgive my English.

update 15/4
On 13/4 finally i got my phone rooted
I have to run f05droot.bat instead of f05dsu.bat
After I have run the f05dsu.bat, for the steps, no error popout.
then I open the terminal type su, it reply me "permission denied".
I know it is not successful, after several run, the situation still the same.
after that have checked the contents of f05droot.bat and f05dsu.bat.
They are very similar but the f05droot.bat will push the superuser and busybox into the device at the same time.
(so I added those files in the directory \Android\android-sdk\platform-tools )
Therefore, i tried that and its works finally.
I feel really exciting at that moment.
I hope this post can help they T-01d user to root the phone.
personally I really like this phone ^~^
the su file is also important
Anyone try it? Does it work?
I have got the source code from its web
But I dont know how to use that and lead me to root the machine

If you have time, can you please post a mini review of the device? I wanted to buy one too and I'm quite excited reading your review!
Thanks and more power!
Here is the mini review
Screen color is perfect except black and accurate. Speed is good in comparing with SGS2. Battery life is similar to SGS2. Form factor is better than SGS2. Camera is outstanding, thanks to the 1.3MP camera. Waterproofing design is what I like. The bad is upgrading is only possible in Japan. Digital TV is useless. Sound level is a bit low.
personally i like this phone very much especially the outlook.
my personal review is the following:
1. same as above the screen is perfect
2. the camera is also excellent
3. while you have a phone call, it change mode automatically depends on the environment
4. if i switch off all the data things, this phone can stand more than one day
(so i wont blame the battery, because I think we use too many network related stuffs)
5. i have to admit that the firmware is not quite stable (fortunately the phone can be upgrade to 4.0 after july)
for the rooting process, it seems like someone has success:
(i think that is temp root)
search "T-01D 軟解, tofu-keitai" in google (that is chinese unfortunately)

I think I brick my T-01D. Don' know why, I do exactly the same what I have been told here... Now It ends up infinite boot loop
Anybody help me please?
Hey there everyone, sadly this guide isn't working for me. Everything in the guide goes smoothly and I do exactly what is listed but after my phone reboots the final time I still have no root access. I run f05droot.bat instead of f05dsu.bat like the user said but to no avail, I even ran f05dsu.bat and still nothing.
Anyone else have trouble? Maybe it is because I am on a certain FW? I am on 2.3.5
Baseband Version C_L1_M23
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #1
and Build number is V43R41C
Just wondering as I really want root to disable all of these RAM-hogging default applications.
Bump? Anyone?
As far as I know, this rooting method cannot be done on FW V43R41C.

Aw Thanks for the notice, of course it's my firmware. Any idea about ICS? It was supposed to come out in July but yeah..

I see, I read about the T-01D (among many others) getting updated from articles like this: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/e.../docomo-update-ics-4-0-18-models-3662812.html
I'm sure the T-01D would perform pretty awesome and maybe pre-installed software would not be as big a deal as it is now. Maybe since your SH-01D is getting updated, T-01D isn't far behind. The only thing I have to see is if I can update out of Japan.
I don't have sh-01d but galaxy tab 10.1 sc-01d instead. My t-01d also upgraded to V43R41C last month during visiting Japan. Upgrade of t-01d may not be possible outside Japan as Software Update cannot be executed without docomo sim and network.

AirDroid is a fast, free app that lets you wirelessly manage & control your Android device from a web browser Over-The-Air. Just for anyone that wants to know.
I don't know if airdroid can copy all of your file to the desktop from your browser. But I don't know how the file system works for the android. So I wouldn't know if it can or is there a good place to read about the android file system? Wait I know I will google that. google is my friend. But I was hoping for a more advance person that could answer on this topic than me.

Rooting Idea USA Tablet
Oh my, what a mess...
This post is in regards to the Idea USA Tablet (Unable to Root)
My specs:
- Idea USA Tablet (Made in China)
- Model Number: MID (Unknown)
- Android Version: 2.3
- Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7
- Build Number: MID-userdebug 2.3 GRH55 (ENG)
Issues:
Whelp, I have tried the basics and I can't get this thing to root for anything. I was able to get it to hook into the PC through USB. There are 2 usb slots on the side of the tablet. I believe one is for HOST and the other usb is for OTG (Charging). Once I figured out the host port, then I had to download the drivers for this poorly made tablet...But, what drivers? You go to the Idea US website and you get no helpful information. So, there are no drivers made specifically for this $100 dollar generic tablet from FRY's. Ok... No big deal... So, I download the default "Android USB Drivers".
Peachy, it worked! Now, I can transfer files back and forth between the card(s). Wonderful, first step down, next step was to root. So, I read up on how to root with Super One Click.
Ok, so now, I set the tablet to "USB Storage" and "Host"...Then I download and run Super One Click.
Ok, I run the "Super One Click v.2.3.3"; by clicking the root button and then all I get is a frozen screen that reads:
Code:
Killing ADB Server.... Kill Server 0.11s
Starting ADB Server.... StartServer 4.09s * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037* *daemon started successfully*
And then it just freezes the program. So, now I'm completely stuck. I mean I learned a great deal, that I can hook up a keyboard, mouse, etc to this thing, but, obviously Super One Click was not designed for these generic tablets. I have read other articles which have suggested that the .inf driver for the default "Android USB Drivers" needs to be edited for your specific tablet model and you must enter the specific CODE# for it to recognize for rooting with Super One Click... But, god forbid, I haven't found any useful information on where that might be. Also, someone suggested to install the Android SDK and edit those files along with the .inf files to make this work. But, that didn't work either. I did everything right. I turned off USB debugging and then I would wait for super one click to come up with waiting for device...but that never happened. I even tried it with USB debugging on... still nothing.
Has anyone created a generic batch program to root these types of devices? What am I doing wrong here?
Since every tablet is different with different boot mangment. Makes it hard to make a generic root kit.. and being a frys computer salesman I try very hard to talk people out of those things unless. They swear they are only us8ing it for facebook

Rooting Idea USA Tablet
Well, this took me all night to read and learn about how to root this basic tablet from Fry's.
First off, I tried many different things and it just didn't work. Using super one click is definitely out of the question for this particular tablet.
I read all night and thankfully found the forum article on how to solve this issue on xdadevelopers own forum.
As per quoted quotes below:
.....You can use gingerbreak to root this. Run it once and let it reboot, then use supermanager free from market to rename the su symlink from /bin/ to "old" or something, and reboot again.
You should now have root ........ It might take a couple of trys but it works.
You need to download supermanager from the market. Enable root in supermanager settings and click yes when superuser pops up.
Then use the file explorer within supermanager to navigate to the /bin/ directory and you will find a sysmlink called su
You need to rename this su symlink to old - completely take out the name su.
Just to be safe run gingerbreak again and then you can install busybox from market.

Thank you so much Pablo11. The idea is to download the APK for GingerBreak from online onto your IDEA USA tablet directly. The trick here is that the brand name is IDEA "USA", but the real workings behind the "MID" is "ViMicro". You will notice that displayed as you turn on your tablet. So, in order to find real information about your MID device, you have to search articles for vimicro.
Once you run gingerbreak, your tablet will go completely nuts. Nothing will run right. Things will break and it will be a complete mess. It will however, install superuser apk. However, it will not work. You can download the Root Checker from the market and you will notice it is NOT rooted. So...thanks to pablo11, you will want to download supermanager from the google play market. Install it.
Next go into the supermanager settings and click on ROOT. Make sure root is enabled and checked marked in the settings. When you enable root in the settings, it will prompt you with "allow root?" Click on Yes. This will give you the access you need.
But, your not done, once again as per Pablo11, go to the super managers file manager section. Get to the root directory by clicking up, and then find the folder "bin". Look for the file "SU" and rename this to "old".
Now, you will be able install busybox and any thing else thats root.
By the way, restart your tablet again, and I "personally" recommend that you go into your settings> Privacy> Check mark both (Backup my data and Automatic Restore) and then click on Factory data reset. Start the tablet from like it was brand new. Don't worry it will keep the root that you did intact. You will just have to re-register the tablet with your existing gmail that you originally used with that tablet.
Lastly, use the root checker from the market and you will see that it is successfully rooted.
Okay... Now, my next step. To crack open this tablet and put in a bigger SD Card as the 2G SDCARD is way too small, especially if you want to use new roms and install a linux operating system onto it....
@njbsuperman story telling of Pablo11's method worked for me. I have a generic android 2.2 7 in. "MID" white box, picture of the tablet on each side all of that and it worked for me. Had to restart and run ginger break a couple times but I followed the directions and it worked.
Thanks for posting this, got this for my 6 yr old for his b-day and of course I gotta ****in tim allen it and I happened to stumble across your findings and your post you put up 2 days before the unwrap. Thanks...smoke blunts.

I have the CT-702 with Android 4.0.3 and can't get past the USB connecting to the storage devices. I can manipulate the files on the internal and external cards but any attempts to use the unlockroot package (from unlockroot.com which is full of adware) or other packages (z4root, ICS Root Unlocker 1.0) do not detect the device. There is a payware unlockroot package at unlockroot.org. Is this the package that works? Is there a no computer apk like gingerbreak (which fails) available or a procedure to get past the USB business.

@captinmudslide,
I'm in the same boat as you, in fact we must have bought them about the same time. I'm hoping that you are following this thread, and that you found something that works to root this beast. I 've been digging and trying any and everything I can find that works on other android devices. I was hoping that holding the power button and vol+ or vol- would get me somewhere. Vol+ at least gives me the dead robot, but can't do anything with it. Was hoping that if the adb server was running it would connect. Nope.
Anybody monitoring this thread, feel free to offer something that hasn't already been covered previously.
Thanks.

Holy crap, I rooted the device.
If anyone needs this later, here's what I did:
Fist I pulled down SRS Root, Unlock Root, Gingerbreak and the generic Google USB drivers.
I went into the properties of the missing driver CT1006 and checked the hardware ID. I opened android_winusb.inf and added the lines:
;ProScan plt-7035
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_2207&PID_0010
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_2207&PID_0010&REV_0222&MI_01
under the headings of [Google.NTx86] and [Google.NTamd64].
I ran Gingerbreak a few times, per a thread I read, but the app would hang. I tried it 3 times.
Then, I went back to Device Manager and selected "Update Driver" and pointed to the .inf I edited earlier. I detached and reattached the device via USB to my PC and ran SRS Root, which still reported an error. Then I ran Unlock Root and the first time it said my device was already rooted, but I told it to root again. It did and my device rooted. I then looked in my apps and found SuperSU installed and was able to run Sixaxis Controller, which requires root to run, which confirmed root worked.
I don't know which step actually solved the issue, but hopefully if anyone has this issue in the future, they can figure that part out.

How do you calibrate the touchscreen in ics?
the calibration.ini trick does not seem to work
(I can't even find the TSCalibration program anywhere ...)

Do the calibration through CWM. Run the "echo ..." command here after an "adb shell".
no such directory as /sys/devices/platform/tegra_touch on ics

I know. Which is why I suggested doing it using CWM. See post #2, above, again.
I *did* read that - but I have only the faintest conception
of what an adb shell is. I don't particularly want to go to
the trouble of installing the sdk for which I have no need.
That's why I *hoped* the simpler way in the original post
might work.

FYI: I don't think you need to install the entire SDK just to run ADB. The adb executable (and, its libraries) alone should suffice--it does on Linux.

There is a simpler method now. Go through that post again. I've got a zip file there which you can flash using CWM.

that's great. There's a warning about which kernels work but
I assume that the kernel in ics is OK, right?
Edit: sorry, you meant the CWM kernel so that's OK
Edit2: and it works fine - many thanks

coby 1125 ics touch screen calibrate
Could any of you please help. I upgraded the coby from gb to ics using the various techniques listed. I was eventually successful, however, I can't really use it because the touchscreen seems to be backwards, and mirrored. If I'm not mistaken, it seems calibrated for the 8127, where mine is 1127 10" widescreen. the "about" displays it as Model# mid8127, o.s. ver 4.0.3. I can't use any aps to correct since no file manager is present, and it is next to impossible to type through get jar. I couldn't follow the directions on this thread keenly, so please explain step by step. Though I got ics to work, somehow, I'm a rookie, and don't understand tech stuff that much. I have access to ubuntu 12.04, and windows, so I can connect the tablet, which I have done, but I don't understand how to use abd, nor cwmmanger. I tried, but got confused, though I was on windows 7. Please give me the steps in plain terms how I may use ts_calibrate, or any other method to c orrect the touch issue. If there were a way to access the start menu or file responsible and edit that. Such was the case on another tablet of mine the wm mid8650, where a similair issue occured installing uberoid. I had to edit for the 8" screen vs the primary 7"
Thanks!

You should talk to the guys who created the ICS for your tablet. They're the ones who'll be able to help you.

The steps in this thread are specific to a) the Tegra 2 Harmony-based tablets manufactured by Malata (eg. the ViewSonic gTablet) and b) to the stock or stock-derived kernels for those tablets.

I see, missed that. Thanks anyway, but the version is initially from coby germany i presume, but I may have picked mine up from a thread link, and since I've visited many souces, I'm not sure. I could contact coby germany, but not sure how forthcoming they would be. Thanks anyway! I think this needs to be done on sd card some how.
Thank you, rajeevvp!!!! Flashing the zip file through CWM has definitely made touch sensitivity miles better. Working great now!!!
