Hello all, I have switched from htc touch pro to this slll. I am a 50 year old proff firefighter and know nothing about these phones. Before my son left for airforce he got me a cable that plugged into bottom of htc and had three rca males coming out. With this I could plug phone into entertainment system in conv van and use bigger screen for tv, gps etc.. I mainly watch this slingbox thing and telenav for driving. This cable obviously does not fit in bottom of Slll. I have bought a couple of cables via advice and none were right. So I throw myself on the mercy of younger smarter people than me. I now own an adaper that plugs into phone and I can connect it to my flat screen in livingroom. thats cool. I bought an adapter that has 3.5mm male end I think with three rca males on other end but this does not go in bottom of Slll. I have read here that the picture does not go out phone jack just bottom so I see where my friend got confused with this adapter. The one for my htc had a rectangular end with one side cut in an angle, my son said its a "mhl" tip or something. I am not worried about it not lloking hd or whatever, just want to use my 10" monitor up front which has that 3.5mm hole next to phone jack or hook it to flipdown in back which has rca inputs. Thanks for your time in advance and check your smoke detectors as soon as you can stay safe this holliday.
Here you go
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Gal...XSOU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354410090&sr=8-1
This is an MHL to HDMI cable
That means that one end will plug into the phone (the bit that goes into phone is called a 'micro USB') and the other end will have a slot where you can put an HD cable in
i.e. something like this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasic...?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1354410199&sr=1-10
This should subsequently plug into the monitor
However, it sounds like you have a fairly old TV so it won't have an HDMI port
Soooooooo
You wil need something like this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/HDMI-Audio-...3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1354410254&sr=1-3
Then you'll be dandy
Let me know if you need any more help
If I Helped, Hit Thanks. It's Not Much, But It Means A Lot To Me

Hi all,
As per subject...
Anyone know if such as cable is available?
I was planning on getting the new 3-1 Adaptor for the TYTN to make use of the 3.5mm jack and charging feature in my car.
The thing is, the cable for this adaptor is very short and cannot be hidden easily when in the car. So, I was thinking of using an extension cable of some sort, so the adaptor could be more easily hidden elsewhere under the centre console.
Many thanks.
USB Stupidity
Hi,
Affraid i didn't find anything either, and wanted to do the same thing.
I resorted to buying the cable from expansis and "Adapting it my self"
The project was fairly simple, and if your happy with a soldering iron and a multimeter you should be fine.
I now have a small connector on my dash that will disapears under the dashboard to a breakout box. All i basicly did was chop off the box that has the two female connectors in it, extend the wire with an old cut up parralel printer cable (multicore and was lying arround) and then terminated in a project box from maplins.
This has two headphone sockets, (audio out stero, and mic in) as well as a USB socket to charge the phone. (the plan was to have the USB socket be usable for data... but that bit went a bit wrong...
Still from the testing i have done, i now have tomtom and WindowsMedia mp3 play back comming through my car stero, and my VarioII reports to be charging. Havn't had a chance to test it on a long drive yet, i think i might still need a beefier 12Volt to USB adapter.
If anyone want more info on what i did, i'd be glad to help.
here are some pics, sorry v bad Q....
I don't seem to see any pics?...
Ooops...
here you go
Seems good to me- as long as it all works ok then its a good job.
Always been interesting in making my own adapters/cables but have never tried. Perhaps I should give it a go!

Any news on that extension cable yet; is it available?
i brought one of these and successfully lengthened it with an old peice of printer cable (only multi core cable i had to hand)
i then used an off the shelf diy project box to hide the junction in.
worked very well, but i have since changed to a bluetooth car kit.
the soldering was a little small and working out which wire was which was a bit of a pain, but all in all only took an hour or so to sort out. probably worth it.
(AFAIK my dad is still using the one i adapted.)
sorry to put old post on top !! but own a dimaond and just buy a touch HD !
i a m looking for this kind of cable !!
If someone have info !!
where to buy for exemple ?
thanks in advance !!
how about extending the power cable? seems like that would be easier.

Hey guys, i am hoping i missed something really stupid.
But i just bought a few accessories for my TP2.
I bought an extra charger, and an extra USB connection for my Cradle, and an official HTC car charger
All marked as being for the TP2
But they have a standard Mini-USB connection on them, not the wierd little cut off corner connection that is on the underside of my TP2
wht the hell have i forgotten?
is there an adapter i need to buy or summin?
I am thoroughly confused
Thanks for any help

No they will work fine, for Data and Power transfer normasl mini-usb cables work fine, you only need the EXT-USB connector (the cut off one) for video and sound transfer (headphones etc.)
Excellent,
Thankyou very much
It' s kind of strange, isn't it. But all mini usb connectors will fit.
hey everyone. ive been playing with webtop and i noticed that if my hdmi cord comes out of the phone. even the slightest bit. the screen cuts out and i have to press it back it. like. this is such a slight amount a small bump could trigger it. is anyone else having this issue? (also. i cant figure out if its the cable or the phone... )
That's odd for sure. My cable holds very firmly in place. My phone even slid off my tv stand one day and hung by the cable and everything still functioned. I would think its the casing on the Atrix might not be right or the cable might not be reaching all the way in ie cable was manufactured too short on the plug end. If you have a friend with an Atrix try out their cable if not call moto they might send a replacement but that idk never heard of anyone calling about that.
But thats just my 2 cents
Sent from my Atrix
Has anyone else experienced bad audio distortion while using the car dock? I noticed that when I unplug the charging cord it sounds fine...
I have not experienced this, maybe a bad ground on your charging port?
sent straight from my brain....
is there any way to correct that?
add another ground. I would try another car adaptor first though or your set up in another car. That will help narrow it down to the car or the set up.
Another thing to note is it might be dirty power. The way i hooked up the radio in the saab i have a constant humm (raised ground floor) due to a small fan that always runs on the same circuit i pulled either accessory power or the switched light feed. Hence why I am saying to try it in another car.

Are you using the USB charger that came with the dock?
At first I just used my own USB charger I all ready had in the car and got audio distortion ...
I switch to the one Motorola included with the car dock and audio was clear as a bell
Have any of you guys found the neck to be a bit short for windshield mounting? I was thinking of getting this one to replace an old bracketron bracket I have but I doing know if the neck is long enough to see and manipulate the screen properly.
I am going to try a ground loop isolator to see if that makes a difference!
I'm having an issue with the car dock and audio when a song first starts off. When the audio starts I hear a popping sound. It does it when I first open the stock music player or anytime a new song starts with Slacker radio. It also does it when I first open tune in radio or when it restarts music after losing a connection (buffering). It seems to only do it when I plug into the adaptor which attaches to the mini USB plug. If I plug it directly into the phone through the headphone jack, it plays fine without any popping sound. Is this a common problem, or do I have a bum car dock? If some others can try their docks out, this would be great so I know if it is a common issue or not. It seems to be more pronounced at high volumes.
I'm not having any distortion but mine won't charge. I thought that it might be the cord but it will charge my wife's EVO, so I then took the cord into the house and used a wall plug and tried to see if it would charge that way. No luck.
It seems to charge using everything else but that cord even though that same cord WILL charge other phones????
I'm going to return it and get a different one but was wondering if anyone has had this issue at all?
Just weird...
Update...
If I use another USB it will charge and all but not go into dock mode. I still don't understand why it would charge other phone models but not the MoPho itself...
Yeah if you unplug the usb cord from the dock it def. wont charge the MoPho. My girl tried to charge her droid 2 on it too and it wont work. I assume it was designed that way.. motorola.. go figure

It's not charging it either way, whether its plugged into the dock or just having the cable plugged directly into the MoPho but it will charge the wife's 3VO plugging the cord directly into hers.

Are you in a Honda by chance? Honda's are infamous for this... anything that's connected to both a 12V output and an audio line in is going to have feedback unless you do some hacking. This is based on experience with 4 vehicles and probably a dozen car chargers, 5-6 phones, mp3 adapators, ipods, 2-3 car decks, etc. over the years (and confirmed by others). The only luck I've had mitigating it was to use a ground loop isolator (at least, I think that's what I used - writing from memory) on the car stereo power feed itself. I tried a ground noise filter on the audio line once and that helped very little.
You'll have the same problem if you try an FM modulator, but not if you use bluetooth audio, so that's what I do now.
Not having any problems with sound or charge but Nav went wonky today.
Edit: Kia Rio 2009
I have had the car dock for about 3 weeks - in Mercedes - it is working fine, charging OK sound OK, I have it set up so the bottom of the base rests on the dash - works well.
So they can work -
Any one have suggestions for a protective case that will work with car dock? I want my phone to slide into car dock and table top dock without having to take case off.
i'd love an answer to this too!

I updated in the other main Seidio cases thread ... with some minor tweaking the Surface case definitely fits the car dock (can't confirm the other dock yet until I pick one up this week).
I have an Otterbox Commuter that works fine with a small modification. Remove the small plastic bridge over the ports and it fits the dock nicely.
It tools some doing, but I finally got this working perfectly and figured it might help someone out.
I have a 7" DVD/NAV screen built into the dash of my truck. I have always been able to display my Slingbox, Netflix, ripped DVD movies etc from my phone to that screen using HDMI out from the phone to an HDMI SCALER as my truck stereo doesn't have HDMI in and this gives composite connections.
This worked great with my DroidX and Droid Charge, but my new Rezound does not have dedicated HDMI OUT (boo) so I needed an MHL>HDMI ADAPTOR.
the first adaptor I got from htcpedia (htc M490) was defective. When I plugged it into the phone (and the USB power cord) it showed the HD out in the task bar, but nothing showed on the screen and in 30 seconds the adaptor quit completely.
At that point, I ordered the HTC AC M500 12 pin adaptor and that works super. It has both HDMI out and analog audio. I plug the HDMI cord into the scaler for video and a headphone cord hooked into the aux in on my killer truck stereo for sound. The sound is better that way than coming through HDMI.
This setup works AMAZING. I can run anything except the NFL APP to the 7" screen with killer sound.
Don't knock the new port too much, the functionality is awesome.
Here is a link to what all it can do.
I'm not knocking it at all, at first I was because it seemed no matter what I tried I couldn't get it to work.
I had a brand new AC M490 MHL adaptor (the one other posters where recommending), with a brand new very high quality HDMI cable and could not get it to work at all which was extremely frustrating. This was annoying especially in light of the fact that my previous three phones worked perfectly in this setup (although the DroidX did not do HDMI mirroring which was really annoying at times)
Now, with the AC M500 MHL adaptor (which seems more compatible in every way) it works better than any previous setup I had and does it all with just one-plug at the phone end.
The 500 uses the exact same plugs for both the phone and the USB power cable as the original Rezound AC charging cable instead of the looser fitting mini USB like the DroidX. Either will work I guess, but one is a loose sloppy fit and the other is a nice snug fit like the OM charging cable.
The 500 also has both an HDMI out and an analog audio out as opposed to the 490 which only gives you the HDMI. I have found this to be an advantage soundwise. I noticed this with both my DroidX and later with my Droid Charge.
I noticed that running both the video and sound through the HDMI cable from the phone produces a noticeably weaker sound than running just the video through HDMI and then the audio out from the headphone jack (or the analog audio out on the adaptor in this case) This gives a much fuller sound with more bass etc. For some reason (I'm not sure why really)
This worked in all my previous setups and continues to hold true with the Rezound.

Interesting, actually cheaper on Amazon than on ebay!
HTC MHL AC M500 12 pin adapter
I recently got interested in this and bought one from Rakuten, but the audio doesn't work. I tried headset, earbuds, powered speakers. Is the audio port just a 3.5" plug? Maybe I got a bad one. Video works OK though.
I'm also curious that mine says, "9VDC 1.6A" on the back, but our phone chargers are 5V. Sure wouldn't want to burn up my phone. Anybody else's say 9V on the back of it? It doesn't say input or output or max input or anything, just that voltage designation.
