Donate to get Eschelon and Synergy a Note 2. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi, I would like to set up a collection for Eschelon so he could start developing roms for the note 2. If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

I sent him a message today. He hasn't replied yet, but he has mentioned his work is keeping him busy. He did say if he was given one he would work on it.

Sent from a Note 2 which is in bad need of root n rom.

Man not to be a party pooper, but no one should be donating for promised work, especially when a device is as of yet publicly rooted.

I'm not sure if you ever dealt with synergy roms, but the guy does fantastic work. I also understand your reservations, but given the XDA community nothing is impossible.

Try actually reading next time. Someone asked Eschelon if he was getting a Note 2. He responded with "no" but non-nonchalantly stated he'd be happy to dev if he ever got his hands on one, but he didn't anticipate it. That's it. He didn't make any false promises or even solicit this thread (I doubt if he even knows it exists).
And another thing: Why do you and your buddy Adrynalyne (who always seems to be sparring with some other dev team on a daily basis) always go after the Synergy guys? There's also a Beans donation thread here in the Note 2 section. Did you make a similar comment in that thread too? And Beans actually encouraged a donation thread, Eschelon didn't.
And yet here you are. Hypocrite.
Just because you've contributed to this community in the past does not give you authority to troll threads of devs you don't like while simultaneously giving others a pass.

Excuse me? You are totally off base and utterly clueless on all of this.
I've never made a negative comment against synergy nor Eschelon, I don't even know who synergy nor Eschelon are. I am not a rom dev, nor rom user. I don't follow the rom scene dramas. My comments were for the person that started the thread, and still stand. It was not a troll thread.
Adryanline is just another developer, we have had many words before. We have not, and doubtfully ever would team up on anything. I do hold him in great respect because if his honesty and abilities.
I'm a hypocrite for what, I called out three threads for the same issue. I have never supported donation before work done. So you not know what the definition of hypocrite is?
Hell I've bought other devs phones with donations from my work.
People like you burning bridges are why some promising devices don't get support from many very capable developers.
I'm going to bring up the donation before producing a product issue in the ERD forum. Thanks for providing the push to do so

You don't even know me, so don't arrogate to yourself this self-insisted authority to tell me what I know and what I don't. I've seen you on this very forum go directly after Virus and Ziggy in the past (Synergy guys), and now here you are again, and yet you completely ignored the Beans bounty thread. I'm not clueless at all, I've been watching you - a very public person in the Android world - for some time now. Your past actions speak louder than your current words.

But you advising people to NOT get a device into a dev's hands helps promising devices get more dev support?
Out of respect for the rules of this forum this is all I will say on the matter in this public setting. Say whatever else you want as I do not wish to continue this and end up violating XDA's terms. I'm out.

All I can say is wow. My only reason for creating this was for a great developer to get a chance to work on the note 2. If I had realized it would cause this much animosity I would have never started this thread.
I apologize, and I'll do what I can on my own to get him the note 2 . I have no idea how he finds time between his work and his family life to devote time to develope, but the selfish me is glad he does. I just want to reward him for his hard work and dedication.
It may take me a month or 2 , but I'll get that phone in his hands.

Seriously, you are lost and comments about bean don't even make sense, hr was the first I commented join regards to this.
I dont know Virus nor of his work, but Ziggy I and I had words, nothing to do with anything but his policy on ignoring the GPL. I do believe his work wasn't even allowed here for a while because of that.
How the heck am I suppose to track what groups a random Dev is working with at any given time.

We appreciate all donations to xda-developers.com, it keeps our forum online and well maintained. As a user you're allowed to ask for donations in your signature as a thank you for your hard work. First rom in the works!

Even tho I don't have the device and there is not a recovery yet, I am already working hard on a rom for all of you Fascinate people :] Just check back on this post every so often for the release. I will probably release it when Koush releases his recovery for the Fascinate. Pretty much what this is going to do is de-bloat your phone, fully deodex it and other little things here and there. If you want more roms like this for the Fascinate please donate and buy me one here.
Check back here for updates :]
Very cool! Were your other roms froyo?
I have no problem donating to you. I'm just waiting for a recovery to come along first.

So this rom wont have froyo?

Yeah my other roms were froyo. This wont be froyo yet, I am just going to play around with the system folder for the first 2 releases. Then comes the fun :]
Pretty much a second post of your other "please give me money"... Great that you want to develop a ROM but I am sure I'm not the only one to think you are really just fishing for some money (unlike a lot of other ROM developers who do GREAT work without even asking for a dime)
Isn't the whole "pay me now for work later" something we all learned at a young age never worked out well?
Matt, if you want to do something useful, besides shuffle some icons around and rename system files, come help work out the kernel / source compilation issue(s). Once that's done we'll still have to develop the recovery.
There's no point even discussing custom roms without a custom recovery.
Until then, this is like paying full price for a pre-order for a device that hasn't even been announced.
IMO, this thread should be locked at this point.

Have you even seen his past work? Obviously you haven't, because if you had, you would know Matt is sure to do some great work. It's pretty hard to develop a ROM for a phone he doesn't have though, hence, he's asking for donations.
If you don't have the means to donate that's not a problem - no one is expecting you to of course, but don't give a developer **** because he wants to make this phone better.

I did not mean for this and the other thread to turn into a flame war. I just know that in the android community, a lot of users have been burned by donating to "devs" (chefs) and then the "dev" bails.
The work he has done on the Droid 2 does seem to be good for that phone, and thats what that phone needs. The fascinate though, is a different beast. More power to him if he wants to help. But begging for people to help him buy a phone before we even have a means to install his roms leaves a cheap taste in my mouth.
I want to thank any dev that has interest in developing / cooking up roms for the phone, as people will enjoy their phone more. I just ask that said devs wait for people to finish developing a simple and safe way to install the rom. I released a rom for the fascinate last week that had most of the bloatware removed, but the only way to flash it is by odin, not a preferred / safe way to flash the rom.
Just hold your horses. we will have a recovery soon, and like i said in the other thread, then you can do what you want with your money. But i assure you, we will have a lot in store for the users once that hurdle is passed.
Umm... get donations from the d1 and d2 work that you've already done, buy a Fascinate, create ROMs for that, and THEN (if it's a halfway decent job) people will donate without you even needing to ask them. Why ask people to pay for something that you haven't even done yet but then reassure them it'll happen because of your other work? If what you did with the d1/2 is good then shouldn't you be able to get donations from that? I'm not accusing you of trying to scam people I'm just telling you what seems to make the most sense.
I agree with everyone else why not use the donations from your other devices to get the Fascinate then when you make a rom that is as amazing as you say people will donate and you will come out on top. Yes I have seen your work as I have had several droids and my wife has a droid2. Have you seen Cyanogen's work? Or how about the other cooks? Why should we buy you a phone and not them? I have donated to lots of cooks but never before a product was available and not even a promise of first beta tests or anything, no deadline? Come on, man! Like the other member said would you pay mercedes (we have all seen there work ) money to build a factory on the promise that when it is done being built they will give you a car that may or may not be to your liking. I have to say your other roms werent my taste but they were very good. Having said that I am looking forward to donating once roms are available, nothing personal I have nothing against your screen name which is really all I see it just has to do with my own preference.
On another note I remember when this actually resembled an open source community (i.e. the linux community) I googled your name and every single forum there is something with you asking for donations, I understand you have to call them donations because of the license but lets face it you are selling products. Thats not really what opensource is about.
Sorry for the rant everyone, no hard feelings

Are you serious? I only started asking for donations like a week or two ago and I have been developing roms for a few months.
I'm just excited we're close to seeing some dev work. I wholeheartedly believe in donation as a support system for development. I do not however donate to theory.
I will be throwing some paypal love once I see some good dev work on here.

Matt, Don't take this the wrong way. I do think you're a good and honest developer based on comments i've read on the ROM you've done on Droid. I've been around this forum for a long time and have given my hard earned cash to many worthy developers and others. Donations typically are to support a website, finance a developer for his time, and/or buy hardware needed, etc... This forum has changed a bit in the last decade and some here may not understand how this all works. We do this as either an investment or a reward. Reputation is everything though. And that is why some here are hammering you.
Since you're new to us, if you don't mind, introduce yourself, tell us your skillsets, tell us what you bring to the table? Alot of us are tech heads and would appreciate that.
This website changed once Android became popular. The WinMo community was smaller and calmer. Android has blown everything up.

eh, i remember a lot of drama going on in the CDMA forums all the time. We had chefs that would rip off of other chefs and claim it as their own just to get more donations / money for their "work"
I have never asked for donations, as the work i do is to better my own phone so why not help everyone else? I just started posting a link to make a donation to world vision in my new posts, because if people are willing to donate, why not have them donate to a great cause?

The good ol pocket PC days. Trying to make WinMo 5 act like a reasonable touchscreen interface. I remember using the kitchens to experiment and make my own custom ROM's. We all made windows CE registry tweaks to do all kinds of things. Windows was easier to program for. I had many custom programs that i openly shared directly with users (M$ didn't like us sharing). I hope Android users get that this is simply a labor of love for us hobbyists. If i wanted a phone i wouldn't customize much but had a lot of features, i'd stay with the iPhone. I've been playing with APPDeveloper to get my feet wet, and soon will have some custom programs myself once i get off it and transfer to eclipse coding.

Matt..
How much will it take for you to get a phone to use for development? now that we have a recovery available......

Give goodman his rd status back!!!

This morning -Chad Goodman lost his RD Status for reasons truly unknown.
I feel like i must start a thread here to express my concern of this decision.
As previously stated on his thread
"There must be something flawing the very system they use on XDA to choose those worthy enough to become dubbed a "Recognized Developer" because this MAN HERE has been given this status then have it revoked for no apparent reason. According to the administrative staff in this establishment his status was given by a clerical error.... the only error was to ever have waited this long to make Goodman a Recognized Developer this guy works day and night building the most stable/ fast/ innovative/ kernels of any kernel developer I have ever seen.
I do implore you XDA to reconsider your decision and give the man what he rightly deserves."
If you have similar concerns, please share your feedback on this thread!
- EVERYONE'S FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED -
Give it back now! This guy is a kernel wizard. He is more of a dev than some of the people with "dev" status. You think building kernels is easy?
Imo, Chad has surpassed Netarchy as the kernel king. His entire thought processes, and theories behind his designs are outright amazing. And he holds nothing back, he is an open door to all users, explaining everything he is doing, and why. Please, return his dev status.

That file is the build.prop with a different name. All it does is tell the phone that there is a smart_io.crd file, but it doesn't have the right information on it. You could name anything smart_io.crd and you'll get the same results.
No linking to his website. He's been banned from xda and we won't allow linking to websites where devs charge for work freely obtainable on xda.
I don't mean to show any disrespect, nor get involved in politics, but is there a root somewhere for hboot 1.5 that's freely available?

I get that he was banned for stuff but linking to the "think tank forum section" where they are actually working on the s-off process and doing so for free shouldn't be an issue really. no?
Or is it the fact he provides stuff for charge on a completely different and unrelated section of his site that can be done for free?
regardless seems hes messing with the smart_io.zip thing that the devs here rattled around for a long time before we got s-off. So far doesn't look like much more than a bunch of trial going on and somewhat familiar to what it looked like here to start with too.
How does one boot the phone and then be able to get the sd card in? the battery needs to be out for the sd switch?

@ scotsman, so even if he isn't requiring money for THIS project, nor on THAT site, you're going to stifle the news of his work by deleting links to THIS project at THAT site even though the issue is with another project altogether? Seems to me you should be blocking THOSE links that lead to the specific objectionable content, as we members clearly want to share news of THIS project and THAT site. Because there is NO current hboot 1.5 root anywhere free, or otherwise. I'm all for maintaining principles, but there is nothing against your stated principles on THAT site. So please stop blocking THIS news from spreading until there's something objectionable here. Otherwise it's called censorship, not protecting principles. You're blocking links just because they are associated with him and for no other reason.

It is on "that" site...same domain...
You can follow him on Twittter, which has been posted, so it's not difficult for people to find.
As I said, feel free to complain higher up if it bothers you that much.
I do not have a Twitter account and do not intend to open one.
So what other site has the info available?
Mod, I suggest YOU ask the admin what to do, because this seems stupid. We need the info which you are suppressing.
How about Hboot.000012? please don't ignore our GSMers, really need to unlock + soff and start flashing.
In all fairness, the_scotsman is correct. Most of you that aren't familiar with the HTC EVO SHIFT rooting drama, don't know the full story behind why he was banned. It's easy to look at one side of the story then just ignore the rest, but probably not very wise. I'm sure plenty of you have read the information/stories on devnull's website, although perhaps you should trust in the moderator's decisions since there is a lot that happened that you guys don't know about.

Disregard this.

Nvm, nemith is being a jerk and taking away my fun.
You are a gentleman and a scholar. So bad ass dude. I'm looking forward to new developments. I shall donate.
Indirect just want to thank you and the other devs for all your hard work sweat, and what Im sure were some absolutely frustrating times. On behalf of all the xda members who actually know how difficult the tasks that gentlemen such as yourself take on with these android devices, we appreciate it, and implore you to please keep it up in spite of the unwarranted criticism from some. The development community has really changed the way we as a buying public interact with our devices, and I truly believe that the work you all do indirectly forces the hand of big business to create bigger and better....THANK YOU!

I'm confused as to what exactly it is you think you've done here?
Stood on the shoulders of giants?
HKVC, Bauwks, Adam, then at the end Nemeth... they carried a discussion for 30 pages figuring out the bypass. Then you post a new thread to bring it to the public? Horrible.
I've never used CM, so maybe i'm wrong, but doesn't it come with installation procedures / instructions? Why would we need your new app here to be able to install it on our Nooks?
Removed foul language

1) I am simply making an app to make it easier on the general public
2) I havent released until I get permission from Bauwks
3) I only was making the thread for now, I just have the app in development still
4) This isn't a "I WANT TO TAKE CREDIT!", this is a I want to help end users have it be easier on themselves. That's it.

Indirect,
Just wanted to say DOUBLE DITTO to Datruth and to ignore the trolls. There's always some hanging around hoping someone will notice them......
I just want to say I have names on my mind and yours Indirect are one of the ones I must say Thanks for your efforts ant time.
I dont see anyone else working on this. Please make this happen... someone. From my understanding the thread was a discussion and an exploit was pointed out. No one took credit from anyone else. Indirect always gives credit where credit is due. The consumers need things that make it easy... easier the better. Thats why I make videos for yall. I cant program for crap, but me making a video on your hack gets you donations. someone else building on your exploit gets you donations. No one is taking credit from anyone else and the point of an open source community is to build off each other.

Hey you Mr. please watch out how you write on this forum, we don't need people with this attitude, Indirect has made great things for us. With people like this is why many forums on XDA has become a hell and devs has quit and move on, so let's not permit that in here, we are here to help others and share our knowledge; next time be kind and polite.

I understand that he is being an extremely low IQ male rooster with social development issues, but dude. Seriously. I know desire is part of the fun, but there are ALWAYS pricks around. There are LITERALLY hundreds if not thousands or people looking and watching and cheering you on every day. Don't let the squeaky wheel get the grease this time.
Also from my slightly conspiracy theory side, how can we be sure that this goober isn't a plant by B&N to try to pies off devs to stop development.....
Whether you continue or not, you are doing something I cannot, and I am extremely grateful for the work you have outing so far. Thanks man.
Posted from my B&N Nook Tablet... rooted of course!
Thank you lavero.burgos you are spot on. If you do have a issue, there are more polite ways to put your thoughts across. On the flip side some of the language in the responses were NOT acceptable, whoever you are! There are many idiots in this world, you need to rise above them. I will be contacting individuals about the matter.
I cant see this thread recovering now.

There are more problems that developers see as more important. This will give them a reason to work on the camera problem now rather than later!

Bounty threads aren't a good idea and this is why,
Devs don't want to be held to something, that's why the devs that know what they're doing won't take bounties. Most times, devs don't know how far they will get when working on a project or the shear quantity of work required. They may hit roadblocks which push projects out for weeks or even months. Sometimes problems may have no discoverable or designable solution at all. This is also the reason dev's don't like to give out ETA's.
Also, most devs have good jobs and don't want/need the money. As an example, Steve Kondik works for Samsung while developing cyanogenmod.
Some also have to kang others works to get the results people want. As a result they don't feel like they deserve the bounty and if they did they would feel obligated to divvy up the bounty to other devs responsible for getting things working. For example, I technically could have taken a bounty for getting working WiMax settings on the Nexus S 4G, but I really only discovered it, Google did the work in baking it in.
