My note 2 for Verizon is made in Korea but
I saw my freind's Sprint Note 2 was made in China.
So where your Note 2 are from?
Make in Korea

I don't actually have my phone yet but from what I understand Made in Korea = good. Granted when I heard that it was discussing the S3 and the bad version was made in Vietnam, not China, so who knows.
I'd still want mine made in Korea. The motherland!

Titanium Grey made in Korea.
Is there actually a real difference in phones depending on where they were made?
As long as the suppliers are the same I can't see there being any difference. I I have one from China and my first was from Korea. The phone didn't recognize the pen being taken out on the first one. See no issues with this one.

I think people are implying things made in China are of lower quality than that of Korea. But I agree with you that there shouldn't be any difference. I mean, all Apple products are made in China and Apple hardware is quality stuff.
I had two Galaxy Nexus that were made in China and both phones had malfunctioning radios.
I'm happy to say my Note 2 is made in Korea.

You guys do realize that even if your phone has final assembly in a specific country, that doesn't mean all the different little bitty components that make up the whole product are from the same place, right? Even "made in Japan" products have subcomponents sourced from China and other asian countries.
Where the product is made doesn't account for much other than feeding the false security or pride one gets when they read the "made in" label. It's all up to the QC process that's in place.

I get what you're trying to say and it's 50% true but you cannot deny that the creation of product can differ from one person to another making the same thing. Hell just take a photo of a person and ask two different people to draw it, of course "quality" can change depending on who makes it.
Not saying the Chinese are any less capable of making this phone, I just believe in the fact that Samsung is Korean, they research and develop their components in Korea, why not take comfort in knowing your product was made where it originated? Nothing wrong in it.

ICS in June? I'll believe it when I see it. I like my Note but it pisses me off when I purchase a cutting edge phone in February, and here we are in June and still no update, while others are receiving their updates.
I give Apple credit there for being better at updates. Much better. No wonder the values of Android devices do not hold up. 3 months old, already outdated, and available for a lot less than what I paid for it.
Ok..I have vented. Again, I like the Note I have, but the thought of going back to Apple is starting to appeal to me again. I pulled out my old iPhone 4 and fired it up, and started the Etrade App I use every day, and on the iPhone it had a voice command feature which is not on the android app. Whats with that anyway? I thought my Note was ahead of my old IP4, and it appears the app developers still cater to Apple.

Yes if Google made one big mistake, it was not learning from Apple's success. Apple owns its phones and demands control over patches and updates. We are being stymied by ATT not by Samsung. Because of the ATT experience on the Android devices we end up waiting forever for an update. My next phone will be a Google phone rather than a branded phone from ATT, so that I can get around this silly delay. Although it will have to compare well with the Note before they can pry this phone away from me.
I wish the phones in the US were more like the European phone as far as distribution goes, the phones there don't tend to have cell provider branding from what I understand and tend to work across more networks. I wouldn't mind paying more phone a phone every couple of years if our service plans were cheaper and the phones were updated more frequently with new software.
I'm not sure how advertising for the G2 is in the rest of the world, but I just flew into Jakarta yesterday and they had about 4 tall, thin billboards advertising LG and the G2! Much further down the road was a single Samsung billboard for the Note 3. I'd have to say that the impact wasn't as strong, maybe from non-repetition?
Beyond that, I have heard some great deals such as getting a $100 voucher and free Bluetooth headset. The bonus is that it seems to be cheaper than what prices I have seen for the US.

Wow you're trotting Asia now eh? haha. Oh btw, Indonesians prefers Blackberrys and iPhones. Samsung is the minor.
Here in Singapore, everybody wnats the best. Lol. You can see the queues here upon launch of a new new device. Lol.
I get my G2 when they first launch in Jakarta, not the pre order. They offering cashback from voucher advertised in newspaper for IDR 500.000. Free bluetooth HBS 730, shopping voucher IDR 1.000.000, Line,s Doll and free data for 6 month. If paid with credit card from famous local bank for 12month installament, you get free 1 month.
Pricelist IDR 6.799.000, I pay 5.799.000 + bonuses.
Today they still doing marketing roadshow, give same bonuses but no cashback.
Sorry info using IDR currency, you can convert it in to yours.
Btw, they launched on 28 sep 2013.
And now have after sale marketing promotuin, G2 owner can give the testimonial to their website and will get G2 Flip Case, power bank, USB OTG and shopping voucher.
So..Wish me luck.

Hot damn look at all the stuff they bundle in Jakarta! I got mine from America and they didn't throw in nothing and I had to fight like hell to get them to price match Costco. In fact, I had to fight them to even get them to sell it to me because they said they had none in stock when their computer said they had 5 but there were none in the case. Even though I told them I stopped in the day before launch and the clerk showed them to me... They insisted there was a mistake and they had none so I left until the afternoon and they miraculously had them when I returned.
I get invited to live in Sweden, Australia and Canada by friends all the time and it's about time I took them up on that. This country needs an enema.

@xyltha - Agreed. I think the US is too saturated for them to market like some companies do here. I have not heard of Samsung doing this, but they are the number one choice here for Android, so LG is trying to get a foothold. When I lived in CA, I always purchased second-hand phones just so that I could get a deal.

I never said they were. If you re-read my post, I said cell phone manufacturers, not android phone manufacturers. My point was they are 3rd overall out of all cell phone manufacturers. My second point was their small amount of market share doesn't come close to samsung even after adding in dumb phones and windows phones. In the grand scheme of things, while they may be 3rd overall or 2nd behind Samsung for androids, they still have a long way to go to really become a true competitor.
I'm glad that marketing is still going strong. My last phone, the LG Nitro, never had any commercials or any sort of advertising. The dev community reflected that. I'm glad to see this device getting a good amount of dev support.

Amazing, they still only have the note 2 out? Sometimes I really, really wonder if people even try. Here's the most powerful phone out right now and you don't even displace the note 2 that's on display?
Are they just trying to clear out note 2 stock?
Took me a little while to find one. (They lie)
Bought it off contract. The sales rep said they didn't have any more Note 3 in stock. I asked the manager, and they magically found one.
The sales guy the entire time was being an asshole, because they don't collect commission on off contract sales.
Did you ask them? I asked and I received. They had a note 2 on display also.

not to defend them, but there are a lot of Verizon Stores that look like the official stores, but are only "authorized retailers." These places tend to not have the latest phones. I've been in two separate legitimate VZ stores since launch.... both of them had the N3 on display.
That is interesting. I visited two different Verizon corporate stores (not resellers) before launch, and they both assured me there would be plenty of Note 3s available for purchase on October 10. I didn't preorder because I figured I'd have no problem getting one on release day (which was correct). Did you try other stores?

I wouldn't say they don't care about android at all. They paid a ton of money for the Droid license, so Verizon probably wants salespeople to push those over other android phones. But iphone doesn't need to be pushed. Most iphone buyers walk into stores knowing that is what they will get. It's the sheep mentality.

Same thing happened to me, I was told by the local corp store that they had plenty of both colors in stock but when I said I was paying full retail they lied and said they had sold out. So I went home, waited an hour and called them and was told they had plenty in stock. I explained that I was just in the store and they were out, and then was told they just got a shipment. So I go back to the store and a different clerk tells me they have them in stock, but when she finds out I am paying full retail she then says she cannot sell me a phone because all of their Note 3s are "allocated ". Store manager was an ass. I then went to bestbuy about 30 minutes away but they were sold out, then I saw another verizon corp store so I tried it and had no problem. In fact they even offered me a 6gb upgrade plan with a free watch for the same price, if I would give up unlimited data.
Very upset that my local verizon store lied to me and then became very rude about not selling me a phone at full retail.

What a bunch of douchebags. I am surprised that store sells anything to anyone.
I discovered long ago that making a friend at a phone store can change your whole experience. If I were you, I would do some social engineering at the store farther away, and never go back to the local store. I would also file a complaint, either by calling Verizon or via their web site. And mention employee names if you remember them. It may not change anything, but then again it might. Some of those employees may have a complaint file, and yours may be the final straw. At the very least, you will have a little satisfaction of having done *something*.

Well that's just not true at all. And generally Verizon screws the indirect channel of stores and makes new phones (note 3) very unprofitable. I work for a Verizon retailer. The store never makes a large amount of money on the high end phones. There is a slim margin for profit on the high end devices. We have live displays of every high end phone and we typically get them on launch day. The only exception is with iphones where we get them a week or so after launch. There are several different types of Verizon retailers you can go to. Some are authorized sellers, some are premium retailers etc... What sucks is it really does vary location to location.

Whether it's from fast-charging, using cheap cables and chargers, or both, batteries don't like heat. Since my Note 7 was getting pretty warm with fast charge, I turned it off in settings since I don't really need it most of the time anyway. Note 7 no longer gets warm while charging.
If the issue is only with poor quality third-party cables or chargers and not the Note itself, why would Samsung hold up the deliveries?
All they would have to do is issue stern warnings about using only approved Samsung parts.
I'm not having any heat or charging issues with my Verizon Note 7.

I'm betting that's the cause right there.
All those hardware issues have only been reported on the Exynos variants. North America is safe. ?
Sent from my note 7, my pixel C or my oneplus 3 depending on how I'm feeling!
For the OMG! crowd, here's the original article. Some websites are speculating it could be an Exynos model issue. Korean Samsung products as regular XDA'rs know aren't the same as other regions. The fact that the stop-sale only affects Korea most likely means whatever issue is being investigated (Samsung hasn't said the battery, Reuters is hypothesizing it) is Korean-market specific. If it was a problem affecting all Exynos devices and Samsung only halted sales in Korea that would open up huge liability if someone outside Korea was injured or incurred economic loss after the issue was known.
If the issue is h/w related and requires a design or component change Samsung's screwed. They can't fix a problem serious enough to stop sale for future purchasers without applying an upcoming change to phones already sold. If it is a battery issue caused by crappy third party chargers and/or cables the fix could be as simple as a warning label affixed to the phone and changes to the documentation and manuals. Many a Nexi has been fried by crappy USB-C cables so now more than ever it pays to get charging apparatus that can be trusted.
Here's a great list of what's good and what's crap from someone on Amazon who tested various third-party USB-C cables:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/A25GROL6KJV3QG/ref=cm_cr_dp_pdp
Tech giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) said on Wednesday shipments of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone are being delayed as the firm conducts additional quality control testing for the premium device. The firm also said Galaxy Note 7 shipments to South Korea's top three carriers - SK Telecom Co Ltd (017670.KS), KT Corp (030200.KS) and LG Uplus Corp (032640.KS) - had been halted. "Shipments of the Galaxy Note 7 are being delayed due to additional tests being conducted for product quality," Samsung said in a statement to Reuters.
The firm did not elaborate on what potential problems it was testing for or whether shipments to other countries were being affected. South Korean media reports have said some users have claimed that the battery exploded.
Quality control problems, if confirmed, could deal a major blow to the world's top smartphone maker, which was counting on the Galaxy Note 7 to help maintain sales momentum in the second half when competition is expected to intensify. The phone, which launched in South Korea and other markets on Aug. 19, retails at 988,900 won ($887.23) in South Korea.
Production problems for the curved displays for the Galaxy S6 edge phone resulted in disappointing sales last year, and Samsung risks a repeat this year if it cannot address the Galaxy Note 7 supply problems quickly. Rival Apple Inc (AAPL.O) is expected to unveil its new phones next week.
Hyundai Securities said in a report released on Thursday that the Galaxy Note 7's problems appeared to be related to modules or parts, and that such "malfunctions" should be resolved quickly.
"Such problems can be addressed by replacing parts and modules and changing the design of circuits, so supply problems for the Galaxy Note 7 should ease within a matter of few weeks," the brokerage said, retaining its third-quarter operating profit forecast of 8.5 trillion won.
It was not immediately clear when Galaxy Note 7 shipments to South Korean carriers would resume.
so far all public reports of exploding notes are from Asian models, which have no Samsung logo.
I don't know what purpose the people are using their phones for (the ones who's phones have exploded). If they're using their phones for regular purpose and within the guidelines and then the phones exploded, then it is serious.
There could be many reasons for the explosions and the supposed bootloop/bricking issues. Use of non-compliant cords, charging after testing it out in water, more power supply to the phone than its safety limit, etc.
People testing out the phone in water for no reason seems ridiculous to me. Just because you're wearing a helmet and safety accessories doesn't mean you should purposely get into an accident to test out the gear.

I just want to know how to stress the battery to see if it heats up (obviously not to the point it does explode). I've been charging my N930FD with various non Samsung fast charging adaptors and doesn't even get warm.
When rooting my phone, it got extremely hot during the boot process like most phones do, but I've never felt it get warm after that.

Not in the United States, the phone is still for sale at all five US carriers, and no notice has been sent from either Samsung or the carriers- Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Sprint. My Verizon Note 7, SM-N930V, has no issues, charging or otherwise. Canada is also similarly unaffected. It's looking like a exynos issue, the North American models use the Snapdragon 820.
returning mine to cpw for refund as ive opened it would there be any problems cpw taking it back? also would they ask for gear vr back?

Thank God for that. But now I'm worried for myself and others in North America that got the international version. :crying:

For once, Snapdragon FTW, lol.
I just had my boss hold my phone to see if by some miracle it'll explode, 10 minutes passed and it is still stone-cold. Mine is a N930FD made in Vietnam.

This is really sad.
I feel for those who have pre-ordered the phone and were patiently waiting for their handset to arrive.
I got lucky as CPW delivered my phone on 30th.
But I feel like I may have to return it, if samsung do decide to recall all note 7's.

This kind of contradicts your text from CPW. Samsung's said launches are continuing in other markets. Hopefully its CPW trying to be conservative and holding deliveries so they don't have to swap phones until an all clear is given. I've been using mine for over two weeks and it never even gets warm charging whether fast wireless, 9V cable charge, or 25W cable charge. Even if U.S. phones are recalled I'll keep mine until it blows up as it takes me a full day to rebuild my phone. It's not a Takata air bag where I'm going to be maimed by shrapnel.
Samsung concluded that the faulty batteries are to blame for the explosions. Samsung SDI is the group within Samsung that makes batteries for the Galaxy Note 7. That is, Samsung SDI produces the battery cell, but the battery pack production is outsourced to other firms. Korean ITM Semiconductor produces the battery pack for the Galaxy Note 7’s that are sold in Korea. ITM’s batteries seem to have been the ones that exploded. Meanwhile, most phones sold in China are going to have battery packs from Chinese company Amperex Technology.
