[Q] LaytVeyit v5 Google Talk???? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have installed LaytVeyit De-Blur v5 Pre-Release on my phone, is an awesome rom, very smoot and i love it, but.... i need some help.
PROBLEM:
- I want to install Google Talk (Talk.apk) in it. Because this rom does not have it.
WHAT I HAVE ALREADY TRIED: (AND FAILED)
- Searching for GTalk and LaytVeyit in the same sentence around or LaytVeyit and Gapps with no results.
- CLicking the apk to install it.
- Copying manually the talk .so to /system/lib and the apk to /system/app and setting the following permissions: rw- r-- r--
OTHER STUFF THAT MIGHT BE IMPORTANT
- CWM is installed
- Rom is giving no other problems whatsoever
- Google Play is working as expected
Is it possible to install GTalk on this ROM and if it is... HOW???
Sorry if my english is not up to acceptable standards...
Whether you can help me or not thank you anyway....

Stil have the problem....
Anyone? i don't want to replace this rom

Try Gingerbread GAPPS
You can take a backup from recovery and try installing GAPPS for GingerBread from rootzwiki

Solution
Thanks to kapilchawla because even if that is not exactly the solution is at least 70% of it.
The truth is that flashing or pushing the Gtalk app by itself by any of the means mentioned above and even by others i tried later wont be effective. The app will force close.
In order to make it work you should flash the whole GB gapps pack, unfortunately you will have to wipe everything before doing that, in order to avoid some weird behavior afterwards.
So here is the solution step by step if you want LeytVeyit with Gtalk
1- Install LeytVeyit from this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791167
2- Flash gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790681
3- The market will dissapear. DONT INSTALL IT OR FLASH IT, it is already there just invisible.
4- Set your google account through the GTalk app. Market app will return as soon as you do that.
5- This Gtalk does not have video chat or audio chat, lets fix that: Download the improved gtalk app from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793 (NOW IT WILL WORK!!!!)
6- Follow the instructions there EXCEPT FOR ONE. DO NOT COPY THE SO FILE ON THE /system/lib folder. It will work without it.
Hope this is helpful to somebody and many thanks to every post that was a pice of this puzzle.

rom build issue : user apps disappearing on reboot

i am currently building a rom for the samsung captivate built off 2.3.5.
The base im using is stock - deodexed/ ziped / minorly changed
this base flashes and works just fine!
what i am doing to it:
remove bloat.
- at&t apps,
- protips.apk
- remove broken swype
- remove stock email (not gmail)
- removed stock launcher
change to hacked camera.apk
remove bootsound
remove shutdown sound
change bootanimation
added user apps in data/apps
added widget picker in system/app
changed default wallpaper in framework_res.apk
changed install script
changed CSC
custom twwallpaperchooser
everything works fine through the install.
but durring the "setup" on first boot " phone setup wizard " will force close right at the step where you setup your google sign in.
BUT THATS NOT THE PROBLEM, (just the first sign of it)
the real problem is any apps installed after flashing do not show up in data/apps
any apps installed through the flash are there, but any installed after ARENT.
and no they arent on the SD card.
the apps will slowly disappear after installing one by one.
when i reboot THEY ALL DISAPPEAR!!!
it seems that the apps install to cache or memory.
as the memory gets cleared or you reboot, they get wiped away!
i have tried various things to fix this
i have rebuilt my rom MANY times.
with and without my framework res changed file
with and without my custom install script
with and without removing stock launcher
with and without changed CSC files.
with and without twwallpaperchooser
if i flash the base i was working from again, all is good.
this only seems to be an issue when i flash data/apps from the zip file. however i have used a script from a rom that successfully flashed data/apps before without this issue, so i do not think it is a permission problem....
im stuck and lost.
more specific, rewritten description i emailed to a few friends
holy hell i bet youve been busy...
me too, i finally have my rom built. for KH2 KJ1 and KJ2 !!
have it down to an easy process now. install script working!
but im having one final issue and cant find any useful info on it anywhere and its very specific
**I know KJ1 and KJ2 install any app to the SD if possible by default. any app on SD will not be affected by this issue ***until it is moved to phone
if I build my rom to install apps to data/app (through cwm flash )- any app that gets installed after (through market or sideload) will slowly disappear after some use or immediately after reboot. they also will not show up in data/app or system/app when installed ** once again not including apps on SD. and if apps on SD are moved to data/app they do not end up there. they disappear.
this leads me to beleive that they are installing to cache or memory, as the memory gets cleared or the phone reboots. they are gone!
if i build my rom without user /data/apps (and without that part of the script).
everything is fine. any app installed after shows up in data/app and is still there after reboot.
i have also used unmodified scripts with and without the package_extract ("data", "/data")
that have been known to work with the original rom they were taken from. without the issue i am seeing.
so i do not think it is a script / permission issue not allowing the system to write new data to that location. but i could be wrong.
my rom is ready for release once i can get this last part figured out. otherwise ill have to release with no user apps... any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks again!

one search i came across mentioned something about possibly not being converted to rfs, but I have flashed to stock with re-partitioning ( rfs for sure ) and the rom and kernel i am building does not support it so that shouldn't be an issue.
from what other rom builders have told me this is an issue with gingerbread roms.
have apps copied to SD card and ask users to install manually.
Dude just found this post....sorry i was busy with KJ2
glad you got a tempory fix
ya you gave me the fix in the PM! LOL

For users having difficulty installing ResurrectionV1.1_official_remix_ics_4.0.3_XXLP

This is a more detailed edited version of how to install the Resurrection ROM by westcrip...
as have seen too many users that seem to be skipping parts or confused of the installation.
This is also for users like myself, who just started on this site and can't post on Development side to find their answers.
BACKUP your apps of course...but DO NOT backup system data.Repeat!! DO NOT BACKUP SYSTEM DATA. Restoring system data can give you some problems because if you don't know what you're doing, can accidentally replace something from the fixes that screws things up!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PART-1
Rom Installation (you MUST follow these steps! )
**Go to recovery mode( Vol UP + Power+ Home and hold until the Samsung Galaxy screen comes on)
1- Wipe data / Factory reset then (can Wipe cache partition or go straight to)
Install ResurrectionV1.1_official_remix_ics_4.0.3_XXLPE_FULL-WiPE.zip
*if you did not Wipe cache, can go straight to install from cache...
but if you Wiped cache then you go to install from external SD card and install 1.0_CWM.zip (this will be touch version)...
then choose - install zip from sdcard. - choose zip from sdcard. Scroll down to Download folder and select ResurrectionV1.1_official_remix_ics_4.0.3_XXLPE_FULL-WiPE.zip.
Please wait a moment.
2-Install gapps_for_remix_v1.1.zip
3-Install gapps_fixer.zip then go back and go to Advanced.
4-Wipe dalvik cache (required)
and Fix permissions and go back to
5-Reboot system
(at this stage it may take a while for first bootup, because we have wiped cache. It needs to rebuild it, so don`t panic.
It may take a while *average around 3-5min before getting to Installing applications screen)
At this stage, boot to system and configure the phone (change language settings, etc).
When finished, again reboot into recovery and follow PART-2
PART-2 (required)
This part it's mandatory here are contained the language, theme, AOSP apps and the T9 dialer if you want it...
or use default. ONLY install one of these:
*note: you're in regular CWM using up and down volue + power button to enter.
If you want the touch - reinstall it like before.
1.- Install the SMSfixupdate-afterboot+T9 Dialler.zip
or
SMSfixupdate-afterboot+default remix dialler.zip
go back
2.- Reboot into system
After finishing the boot it's highly probably that you receive a force close from android phone.
It's normal and it's the only FC that you should get.
Enjoy!
**There is a RAM Manager Fix (When you open the Task Manager app, there's a section called RAM and a button to Clear Memory.
The fix enables that button again... for those not working).
Here is a mirror link for this and other files: RAM Manager Fix and others
PART-3 (optional)
*This can apply to many other files you want to flash.
If you want to install Siyah kernel:
Place Siyah-v3.0rc4-CWM.zip (or whichever version you're using) in the root of internal SDcard memory ("download" folder) and go to recovery mode (Vol Up + Power + Home).
Go to Install zip from SDCard... and select it.
Yes and install... Fix permissions... Reboot.
**battery issues with Siyah?
go to recovery
wipe dalvik
go to "kernel specific options" to reset them or other performance tweaks.
reset kernal
fix permission
reboot
**No more video player?
Get the VideoPlayer.apk file (*have to do a search for it now until I find another working link to it)
and copy it to system/app using something like Root Explorer
Reboot
Hope this helps. I'll edit this when I have time (usually busy with other projects).
*Version 1.2 is out now Check it here.
Good job
Tho make sure you spend a bit of time regularly checking the thread (depending on how much action the thread gets, obviously). Once you make threads like these people invariably ask questions & it's best if the person who detailed the method answers most of them.
Thank you sir.
I will give as much time as I can on this, when questions come up... and I'll be sure to keep up with bugs going on on original thread... though they will be updating this ROM soon to 4.0.4.
When that happens, guess will have to update this lol.
(oh no, what have I gotten myself into )
Language problem
Hello!
Thanks for the thread, really useful for noobs needing help to fix some problems.
I am a noob... and I have a problem.
Everything is working fine, battery is ok, no fc... but language seems to be messed up, I get my language (spanish) in almost all settings and menus, but dialer is invariably in english. Some contacts dialogs show this behaviour too.
Thank you very much in advance!
Thanx a lot, really useful...cant wait for 1.2
SMSafter-reboot is the only fix i needed to fix my dialer fcs issue, after a dalvik cache clean and permission fixing. That was the only way, if some1 has same issue.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Hi Miguel. The ROM is mostly for English and some language settings are off here and there. Mine too shows Chinese characters in some parts. I think this has to do with where the phone is originally from.
Version 1.2 will be out soon (based on 4.0.4) and should have more bugs fixed. I will see if there's anything can be done to help you with Spanish settings.
*glad it's helpful for you guys.
Thanks for a good simple guide.... it is getting pretty difficult to find answers with so many posts in the main thread.
Will you be making a similar step by step guide for ver 1.2 that should be out soon?
If it is needed I will. Will have to wait for it to come out and see if instructions changed. The process will be easier (after what westcrip said), not needing to add gapps fix, etc now I think.
Anyways, if I think needs more detail for newer users, I'll add a new thread for it and post a link here to it too.
Which dialler
I'm a true noob and I'm rooted with CWM installed and I'm giving serious consideration to this rom. My only question at this point is what are the differences btw the 2 diallers and do most folks prefer one over the other?
Hi tlmacson. It's a very good fast and smooth rom with good support. 1 dialer gives you T9 abilities... which means when you start dialing some number, it shows you contact(s) that much those numbers.
But there are some bugs in it not working for some, so recommended to install the default one and add some other app that does the same, or install T9 on after the default.
PS
If you want to give this ROM a try... the new 1.2 version will be out any moment which should have easier installation with hopefully less bugs ^^
I have been using it for a few weeks now. It has run really smooth, the only bugs are very small and do not effect the use of it daily.
I had a few problems with the dialler, so I installed exDialler. I actually prefer it, it has t9 searching and can be skinned to look like ics dialler.
I will definatly give ver 1.2 of the rom a try too.
Yes, that's the 3rd party app people like for T9 use: exDialer
It also allows you to give it black theme.
HELP!
Cyber i'm wondering if you did test the 1.2 PRO resurrection I want to upgrade to it but i don't know if it is a FULL WIPE or not because westscript didn't mention it also there are no GAPPS and FIXER within the thread can you please confirm for me this?
I think that I may just do that since I'm not having any real issues with the leaked "stock" XXLPQ. I appreciate your advice and dialer explanation.
nHorus - For v1.2 it works better if you do a full wipe Do a full wipe(factory reset+cache+dalvik cache), though you can try without it.. and just do the factory reset. Then install ROM and Siyah kernel and reboot to do initial setup. Then comeback to recovery mode and install navigation button fix and app themes, reboot.
Test
Thank you cyberboob.
I will try 1.2 and see how it goes, anyway I will install exDialer to fix my languages "problems" (it is not a dealbreaker but is disturbing seeing some dalogues in other language).
According to 1.2 changelog this version is promising.

thank you. i'll try without the wipes
Sorry.. a full wipe is needed again (or more bugs will be present).
Follow these steps:
Do a full wipe(factory reset+cache+dalvik cache)
Install the Main ROM
Install Siyah-v3.0.1-CWM.zip
Reboot
Do the initial setup of things
Go back to CWM and install navigation button fix
Reboot
Then go back to CWM and install app themes (there are some bugs, but if you want the black themes, then install classic first, then black)
Reboot
Some people have other issues after, but see how this goes.
I would change the DPI settings to 184 or 210 for everything to work fine from market apps.
*Also westcrip will post a new fix update for some new bugs reported by some users.

I know I'm showing my "noobness" but I thought that the kernel was part of the ROM; so how do I install the kernel after the ROM?
Same way you installed the main ROM.. go into recovery mode and select the folder you placed it in (usually internal sd card "download" folder) and flash it "yes". Fix permissions if want and reboot. Same with anything else you need to flash/CWM after/before.

[JB4.1][JB4.2][JB4.3][KK4.4] Minimal Gapps

For Kitkat, the Core gapps by @BaNkS works perfectly, it's as slim as it can be. It's also odexed for those wanting to test ART. So rather than do the same work twice I thought I'll just link to his thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012857
If you are looking for JB minimal gapps, look below.
It seems there is a lot of confusion about which minimal gapps to flash or where to get them, so I decided to make a thread for the ones I have linked to in the main CM10 and CM10.1 threads in the past.
/system/app Contents:
Code:
1. ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk
2. GoogleBackupTransport.apk - [COLOR="Red"]Can be deleted but after a Data wipe and fresh flash you will be unable to restore things that Google backs up to its server like WiFi passwords, wallpapers. Personally I don't use this backup and restore because I don't trust that data with Google anymore.[/COLOR]
3. GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk
4. GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk
5. GoogleFeedback.apk - [COLOR="red"]Can be deleted. Some feedback mechanism when apps crash. I have never used it or even seen it myself, so I delete it before flashing the gapps.
[/COLOR]6. GoogleLoginService.apk
7. GoogleServicesFramework.apk
8. MediaUploader.apk - [COLOR="red"]Can be deleted. This enables sharing pics to Picasa in the stock Gallery. Personally I remove it.[/COLOR]
9. NetworkLocation.apk
10. Phonesky.apk (Play Store 4.4.21)
11. SetupWizard.apk
There are versions for 4.1 and 4.2, and 4.3 ROMs, and they should work on any device.
They don't contain any app that can be downloaded from the Play Store, like Gmail, Hangouts etc. But it contains everything necessary to use all Google services. It is based on the first minimal gapps for CM10 by Quarx. The old talk app is available as addons for each version, but they are not tested by me. If they stop working then let me know here (specifying which version, like 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 etc)
In case anyone wants to use Google TTS voice instead of Pico TTS, look here.
Find them here
Updated with new Play Store 4.1.10. CM10 version works on the latest SlimBean too.

thanks a lot for this tejus!
just a question, I am using now the minimal gapps edited I found on the cm10.1 thread that is the only one with working swype stock keyboard for me, also in your minimal gapps package swype stock keyboard is working oob?
thanks again!

I'll be happy if you can test it and tell me, I'm unable to test at the moment
But if I were to guess I'd say it does work because it contains a lib file related to the keyboard. It was in the original 4.2.2 Gapps, so I had kept it as it is. I think the gapps you found on CM10.1 thread might have been mine...

I think so too..! also, I downloaded your new gapps minimal package, and compared the content of the app folder with the one I have, it seems exactly the same, except talk that is not present (not a big problem, I always remove it as well )
btw I will try your new package soon and report about they keyboard!
one last thing, but that could be very important! please see this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2300849
it is about the media app always running (download service process). after some research on the internet, it seems this app appears only after installing the gapps.
if that is the case, do you know what app could create this process, and if you find it, could be removed safely from the package?
that affects a lot of people, and if can be removed could be a great thing I guess! also, most important, some people reports less battery consumption when that service is not running! unfortunately it is a system app so it can be not greenified ;(

I'm sure nothing more can be deleted from these gapps without causing problems/disabling certain core features.
MediaUploader.apk is the only one that seems to be related, see here. But deleting this will disable Share via SMS, MMS, Email etc in the stock Gallery app. So not a good idea to delete this. If you personally don't use the stock Gallery then you can try deleting it using a root explorer and see if it fixes your problem.

thanks! I will try as I don't use stock gallery. I hope it will remove sharing options only from stock gallery, and not for other apps (such as quickpic and others).
unfortunately I can not remove it.. when I try to delete the file /system/app/mediauploader.apk it says it can not be deleted (of course I am rooted, root access enabled in the file manager, and already kicked the app from running..)
will try to remove it from the package and reinstall from scratch..!
here is what I found out after a reinstall from scratch
I used your minimal package, but removed from it both phonesky.apk (play store) and mediauploader.apk
so far so good.. everything seems working fine!
I confirm swype keyboard works, but also sharing options are still available in gallery and all other apps! plus, it seems to me I don't see anymore media (downloadservice process) always in running apps, at least so far!
so it seems mediauploader.apk is not really needed actually and can be removed.. I will let you know if some problems will arise later, or I will notice something wrong
only thing is that in the sharing options I don't see anymore picasa, but that's not a problem for me, I don't use it!
as per the play store, I see two good points in removing it from the gapps package: I use app2zip to save all my apps, so now I can backup also play store with app2zip, and it won't conflict with another version of the app in /system
plus, being stored in /data, I can greenify it!! (also play store used to appear often in running processes..)
of course this way I will not be informed about updates, but I prefer to check manually when I wish to do so, instead of having the app often running even when I am not using it
thanks for your help and I hope this will be useful for some other people also
EDIT: media downloadservice is back again so it was not related to mediauploader... what the hell can be that??
it seems to me it appeared after running gmail for the first time.. but I will have to confirm that after some more investigations..

Hmm okay..either way I think everything that can be removed has been removed from these gapps...mediauploader can be deleted by whoever wants to after downloading.
I am wondering whether to also upload (separately) the old Talk apk's for whoever wants it, IMHO hangouts is kind of slow.

I am in the tweaking days.. I searched many lists of apps/services on the web and trimmed down a lot cm build and also removed a few more things from your package.. I will reinstall from scratch and test if everything will work in a few minutes.. I keep fingers crossed.. will report back soon!
as per the talk app, I have always removed it from the package or later with a root explorer app as I don't use it.. btw I think many people may want it so probably if talk is not available anymore in the market could be good to upload it separately I guess
ok I did many attempts, reinstalls etc (play store really pissed me off.. actually I found out it can not be installed in /data, if you do so it seems to work but then when you try to update an app it FC....!!! so I had to do many attempts and in the end I integrated it again in the package as you did in orgin ) this is some general information I found out that can be useful for people who wants to trim things up:
1. ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk --> I didn't remove it, but if you don't import bookmarks from other PCs you can probably remove it
2. GoogleBackupTransport.apk --> I removed it, it is for google backup service (app, wifi passwords etc) that I never used
3. GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk --> I didn't remove it, but if you don't sync calendars with gcalendar you can probably remove it
4. GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk --> I didn't remove it, but if you don't sync contacts with gmail you can probably remove it
5. GoogleFeedback.apk --> I removed it, and I have no problems so far (it is probably for reporting to google when an app FC, store feedbacks still work even without this)
6. GoogleLoginService.apk --> should not be removed, to login you google account
7. GoogleServicesFramework.apk --> should not be removed, needed for gapps and/or play store
8. MediaUploader.apk --> I removed it, it is just for picasa uploading/sharing option
9. NetworkLocation.apk --> should not be removed, it is for finding your location using mobile network instead of GPS
10. Phonesky.apk (Play Store 4.1.10) --> should not be removed if you want to use play store (if placed in /data problems arise!!)
11. SetupWizard.apk --> should not be removed, first boot wizard
also, as I don't use gtalk at all, I removed libgtalk_jni.so and libgtalk_stabilize.so inside "lib" folder..
my conclusion is that I can just confirm for most cases your package is perfect, so it is probably better to leave it exactly like this, and just in case people have different needs can modify it.. the info I added above should be helpful in this case!
bye!
ps. doing all these attempts I can now understand how long it could have taken for you to find the smallest and most stable configuration for the gapps, so I can just say MANY THANKS TO YOU!! :good:
pps. looking at different lists on the web, and also with some findings I did by myself, I gathered information about almost all the apk's present in the cm builds, if that can be useful for someone I could open a new thread and prepare a list similar to the one above (file name and what the app does, to know if it is safe to remove it or not) .. believe me there are many lists on the web but to find out (almost) all the apps and their purposes you must look at many of them and make a mix!! also some were not present in any list at all and I had to personally find what they do!

Oh it didn't take me long because, like I said in op, it is based on quarx's minimal gapps. He spent time figuring out what to remove, thanks should go to him
I'll add a link to your post in the op.

just for your info, after some more attempts i found out the process: media > DownlodService is related to both gapps and Downloadprovider.apk
if I remove Downloadprovider.apk, that process doesn't appear anymore, but I get gapps FC's (and very probably will not be possible to download anymore things from the browser and/or play store)
so in conclusion it seems to me we have to live with that process running, and that is not possible to really get rid of it safely..
EDIT: also, it seems to me it starts appearing when you run gmail for the first time.. so if you use gmail I guess we must live with that process always running even if you disable automatic sync like I always do
wow did you change your nick? I didn't know it was possible! :silly:

Oh and since you seem to like to disable as many unnecessary apps as possible, you can try and disable 'ApplicationsProvider.apk'. It will only break Google Now searches for apps that are installed on your device AFAIK. I've disabled it on CM10.1 and I don't use GNow, haven't noticed anything amiss.
thanks my dear will remove it immediately and see what happens thanks!
EDIT: I went for removing it and actually i noticed i have already deleted it lol! i will post the list of all the apps i usually remove before flashing a rom soon maybe someone could be interested
EDIT 2: this could become the tuning thread..
.. here is what i remove always from the cm10.1 and minimal gapps package zips:
<<From cm10.1 ROM zip..>>
/system/media/video/*
/system/tts/*
/system/usr/srec/*
/system/fonts/DroidSansFallback.tff
/system/fonts/MTLmr3m.tff
/system/fonts/NanumGothic.tff
in /system/media/audio i only leave alarms, notifications and ringtones i need (six in total) and remove all the others
*for the part above, credits go to @Nbsss, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41074866
below is my contribute..
in /system/app i delete all the following: (with some explanations for each app)
Apollo.apk (music app)
ApplicationsProvider.apk (somewhere I saw that that it "Provides the list of installed apps to Market", but market is working fine here even without that, and I can also correctly see the list of my installed apps)
AudioEffectSettings.apk (relevant settings, I don't use them, if removed settings will FC if you try to open those audio effect settings)
BackupRestoreConfirmation.apk (for synced google settings, I never used it)
BasicDreams.apk (wallpaper)
CellBroadcastReceiver.apk (relevant settings, I don't use them, if removed settings will FC if you try to open those cell broadcast settings)
CMFileManager.apk (I use ES File manager instead)
CMUpdater.apk (I have never used updater, just flash flash new roms when they come out)
DSPManager.apk (I don't use it)
Email2.apk (I only use gmail)
Exchange2.apk(I only use gmail)
Galaxy4.apk (wallpaper)
HoloSpiralWallpaper.apk (wallpaper)
HwaSettings.apk (I always leave HWA on for all apps an never had any problems, so no need for this)
InputDevices.apk (never understood what is this for exactly, but removing it is safe here)
LiveWallpapers.apk (to choose between live wallpapers, I don't use them)
LiveWallpapersPicker.apk (to choose between live wallpapers, I don't use them)
MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk (wallpaper)
NoiseField.apk (wallpaper)
PhaseBeam.apk (wallpaper)
PhotoTable.apk (wallpaper)
PicoTts.apk (no need, maps+audio directions work perfectly fine even without this)
Provision.apk (setup wizard, not used, using the one inside the gapps package instead)
QuickSearchBox.apk (google search box, I don't use it)
Stk.apk (sim toolkit app, I don't use it)
Term.apk (old version of terminal emulator, I always install the latest one from play store instead)
ThemeChooser.apk (I never change themes)
ThemeManager.apk (I never change themes)
VideoEditor.apk (it used to always crash, at least in previous builds, btw I don't use it)
VisualizationWallpapers.apk (wallpaper)
VoiceDialer.apk (I don't use it)
VpnDialogs.apk (I don't need it)
<<From minimal gapps zip..>>
GoogleBackupTransport.apk (for google backup service that I never used)
GoogleFeedback.apk (it is probably for reporting to google when an app FC, store feedbacks still work even without this)
MediaUploader.apk (it is just for picasa uploading/sharing option)
libgtalk_jni.so and libgtalk_stabilize.so inside /lib, as I don't use gtalk/hangouts
.. doing like that i remain with more than 80Mb free in /system
byeeee
Tnx moly82 for your useful list.
I use this script http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827817 made for Galaxy S3 for cleaning my Defy +. Instead ROMCleaner_user.txt file from that page, I use a custom one made for Defy with options proposed by U in previous post. I'll atached the file to this post so anyone can use it.
But according to personal preference can be changed very easy with Notepad++ .
does this work for all phones like my desire s?

[Q] Gallery won't work, need stock apk

Well, my girlfriend updated her Galaxy S3 a couple of days ago, and suddenly the gallery wouldn't work. It just showed up as com.sec.android.gallery3d in the app drawer. I've done everything in my power, even rooted the damn thing, but nothing seems to work.
Amidst my ferocious attack on the problem I seem to have gotten rid of the "faulty" gallery apk and can't find a good one via google that works.
Odd thing is that at first the com.sec.android.gallery3d app was missing from /system/app. When I did a search for "gallery" I found SecGallery2013.apk that was called "com.sec.android.gallery3d" in it's properties. Kind of like a symlink I think.
That original SecGallery2013.apk is now gone with the wind for some reason (my ADHD took over a while). I actually found a com.google.android.gallery3d that works (but not original) and com.sec.android.gallery3d-2be92cef98aab5194d4ae68382324577.apk (took away the number at the end of course) that seems to be the original, but crashes constantly.
I'm at a loss, hence why I did the topic name "need stock apk", as that might fix things.
Though somewhere on the filesystem (I'm still somewhat of a noob as to how android is built) there were once a folder called com.sec.android.gallery3d which is not there anymore. Any attempts at installing the apk has, obviously, also failed.
I've read almost every other possible solution, but all of them seem to be under the impression that I would have the sense to backup every single thing...
Help!
What android, firnware are you running right now?
You can get the gallery app from any STOCK BASED flashable zip (many lite version roms available in this forum). Just open the zip, look under system/app or something similar, take the apk file, put it in system/app of your own phone with rw-r-r permissions, then reboot.
Stock system apps can't be just installed, they must be manually placed in system/app directory.
Try to flash Google Apps from CWM or TWRP (I assume you already flashed CWM or TWRP with Odin)
A brief explanation of Google Apps:
Apps like Play Store, Gallery, Camera, etc... Or the stock proprietary software made by Google are all in this one zip file called GApps, All you need to know is how to flash ZIPs (easy as 1,2,3) and the GApps for your android version.
Other options:
Find another 3rd party Gallery alternative from Google Play (EASIEST)
Flash CyanogenMod or an alternate ROM (Too risky just for getting gallery back)
Just get the images from the device to your computer
Well that's all I got, PM me if you need anything, hit "Thanks" if I helped you

[PLEASE HELP] how i can modify a rom ? there're some problems...

hello
i have some problems with a rom based in Cyanogen 7 ( it's no official)
the keyboard is small...
there is in some way to modify it and make it bigger?
another thing is that i would like to pass apks from my pc to my htc wildfire s but there's no way the system android don't detected them
the good things is that I got 2.00 GB of free internal memory and is supposed it was installed directly to the sd , so I would like to improve and not change the rom
to prevent spam i can't put the link to download the rom , so the person who was interesed please send me a message
the rom is from another foro in spanish called htcmania
someone could help me?
thanks a lot !
The Keyboard can be changed by searching for another keyboard.apk for your phone, U can update it with google Play, or Aptoide.
Then the app problem, so you can't copy apks to your phone? and your phone doesn't install apps to sd?
Try the app:
apps2sd
or
connect your phone with your computer, install adb drivers
type in your path to yourAndroid SDK installation at Step 1:
Step 1: cd C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
Step 2: adb devices (it should say there's a device listed when your phone is connected!)
Step 3: adb shell
=> A $ sign should pop up
Step 4 :pm setInstallLocation 2 (or, new syntax : adb shell pm set-install-location 2)
Another $ should pop up

i installed a new keyboard and the adb drivers but the problem with the apps continues i mean i can't copy apks download from my pc to my phone with a modified rom, the phone doesn't detected them.
for example i tried to download and put in my phone some apk who play store deleted for obvious reasons it is droidsheep XD
however i can download and install apks who are in play store , it is strange...
thanks for your reply ^^
Did you turn on unknown sources in Settings>Security settings ? This allows you to install apps which are not from the play store...
If this is not the issue, you should check google settings( the grey cog with a g in it ), google got this feature which blocks apps, there should be a function in these settings which stops checking your apps that you install.

okey , i will check the google settings , anyway i am sick of this rom ... some apps like google play are continually restart
and a few days later I have noticed that the apks who i want to install from the google play (when it's installed ) restart the phone
that rom have some bugs...
thanks for the reply , but i will not continue with this rom , i make another post asking how i can change modified rom to oficial rom in the htc wildfire s , i don't find anything for this phone in google ...
thanks a lot ^^
Allright, well the problem could lie in your gapps, a corupt google play service can cause alot of trouble and Force Closes on your phone, also when you installed yothe mod, did you wipe everything? (Dalvik cache, Data, cache ...) Don't have the phone so can't test anything, might do some research tho
good luck further!

pd: do you know how i can change modified rom to oficial rom in the htc wildfire s ?
thanks for your reply again :fingers-crossed:
Well I don't really understand what you mean, but the thing I understand out of it is that you want to go back to a stock Firmware or Rom?
I'd recommend backing everything up firstly (don't forget all your contacts!) .
Then go into recovery and do a factory reset / or Data, Dalvik cache & cache Wipe... (system should be wiped for modified stuff like battery improvements, added scripts, etc. ...)
& that's it for going back to your stock rom.
If you want to go back to stock firmware you should search what type of phone you have (the nickname , single sim or dual sim , all this) and look for stock firmware (.ftf Files)
To get this flashed on your phone you gotta use a flash tool and a computer.
For further information you should read some tutorials on how to flash firmware.

i was talking about the firmware , but i called it oficial rom sorry xD
in a spanish foro called htcmania the moderator told me: You can only install an equal or higher version .
the rom has a version 2.3.7 and the firmware that i would like to install has a 2.3.5 version
anyway, there was a tutorial who explain how downgrade the version of the rom?
thanks ^^
Well you can downgrade, if it is availble for your phone... Better so some more research regarding your phone and just try it.
