Hey guys, I just bought an HTC ONE X+ last week with a contract from AT&T. I came from a One S on T-Mobile. So here's my problem, I would use my One S all day with WiFi and data on for about half the day and the screen turned on low and I'd still have 50% battery by 8 pm. That was after starting the day at 7 AM. I've tried to do the same with this X+ but leaving power save on and data and WiFi off nearly 20 out of 24 hour, just eats through my battery. I want to be able to USD my phone and I don't want a battery case. I was thinking of returning it for a regular One X with the dual core snapdragon as is in the One S. Would my battery longevity be similar in the One X? Would rooting and using set cpu to lower the cpu clock cause the one X+ to get better battery life?

Hmmm would a V4 engine consume less gasoline than a V8 engine, I do believe so but might need a rocket scientist here for that one .

The reviews on battery life are so mixed. The AT&T version One X still has NFC and the POGO pins so besides a 1.6 MP camera and a (hot running) quad core Nvidia that sucks battery life im not missing out. Actually V4's arent's very common, most are I4's on cars, you will see V4's on motorcycles. Just wanted to clarify... I have no experience with a One X and was just asking for opinions before I can return it to see if I really should do it.
Lol what are you talking about battery life is great 4-5 hours of screen on time

Then what the hell?
I must be doing something wrong or I'm just used to having more.
Look at my graph, that's barely using the phone at all all day. As soon as I turn on WiFi, my battery just jumps off a cliff... I have Google now, sync, and location disabled and I disabled all the possible apps I could think of that would drain batter.

Poor mobile signal causes significant battery drain.

I really don't know where these Battery Cry Babies crawl out of? They must think as soon as they charge the device one time out of the box, have everything turned on and enable such as NFC (who even uses this, really?), wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc. that they will still have great battery life on this or any quad core device? Here's a thought, only enable gps when you use it, only enable wifi, when you use it, only enable bluetooth when you are going to use it, etc. By simply doing this, have battery save mode enabled (really no reason to ever have it off unless maybe playing a tegra 3 hungry game), you will see actually great battery life from this device. Also fully charge it from 100%-0% at least 3 times to get the full effect, same applies after flashing a new rom and make sure you don't have some bunk 3rd party battery hungry app running as there's tons out there if you're not careful!

You're totally right because I forgot to mention how I had everything running all at once all day.... Oh yeah I did say I turned everything off and only used WiFi when I needed it and same goes for data. Is it so hard to answer whether the One X will outperform the One X+ on battery or are you just the official pretentious all-knowing bastard troll of HTC phones? I use a timer to charge my phone 3 hours before I wake up so it's always at 100% when I start the day.

I had all of a sudden a huge battery drain; first I couldn't figure out what was going on. I disabled all AT&T apps especially the AT&T locker app and now I am back to great battery life.
Huge drain occur only when cpu are set to full clock. Gotta feed that beast

Now I have the regular att one x and usually I use it pretty heavily and I'm at 60% around 8 pm taking off at 7am...it all depends on the user...but like others said your battery is being calibrated and once you flash a new Rom your battery will have to take a few days to see more trust worthy battery..alsoyour dalvic cache is rebuilding itself the first little while so I can assure you after a little while you'll see improvements in battery life ...on my one x I got significantly better battery life after putting a couple roms on their and choosing the CPU/voltages how I want....and if your heavy user and complaining just think if you and someone else have the same car and your just flooring yours everywhere you'll get worse gas mileage..
I just got a new AT&T One X+, and noticed that some of the AT&T bloatware was using battery.
I let Play Store update some of the bloatware and then under Settings->Apps, I disabled
AT&T Code Scanner
AT&T Family Map
AT&T Locker
AT&T Messenges
AT&T Navigator
AT&T ReadyToGo
I can't remember which one(s) were using most power, but disabling them all means that you never accidentally run them and don't see then on the Apps screeens.
HTC Checkin service also seems to use a lot of power, but not much I can do to stop that.
But for now, I just plan to use the phone as I want to, but make sure I can plug it into power if it gets low on juice.

So far thats my experience, if i load up a game that uses that Tegra 3 to its full extent then goodbye battery.. I did go disable all the ATT apps however
But heck, if i watch Youtube videos and such i dont have much of a problem, My first day i managed about 15h with almost 3h on the screen... I gotta say unlike my GNex, this phone is picky on what you're doing in regards to battery usage, Probubly because unlike the One X+ the GNex's screen was the worst offender in regards to battery life....and unlike the GNex I dont have to go running when i hit 20% because 20% on my GNex meant "I'm going to drop dead in 5...4...3..2...1"
BTW stupid question, Where I live I know theres a very good HSPA+ tower (like full signal all the time, -75dbm) but my One X+ likes to stay on the LTE tower which has a dinky 1-2 bar signal strength to it(Not sure on the dbm on it, Havnt checked), Even though im using Wi-Fi at home, wouldnt it still be bad for battery life as the cell tower has a weaker signal?
I'd not mind a battery case, Had one on my iPhone 4 and my GNex, But I cant seem to find one, Do the Mugen ones for the One X work on the Plus as well?

I would also prefer to use HSPA over LTE to save battery, but after some googling I realized that AT&T does not want us to have this option. There are some cumbersome phone codes you can enter to hop onto HSPA and not LTE, but no practical solutions yet

That stinks of annoying marketing over practicality... At the very least when one isnt using a ton of data at the moment they should have the phone "throttle" the connection down to the strongest connection available, even if its EDGE...and if you're on a Wi-Fi network it should connect to the tower with the strongest signal, not the best data connection
At my house I get HSPA+ with full bars running at 7.5mbps, LTE runs at 5-6mbps and 1-2 bars
Ok granted, when i leave the house yes, i get pretty good LTE speeds up to 20-23mbps, and thats where i care about LTE working since at home i can just use my Wi-Fi network, what im more annoyed with at home is the fact that in the background im connected to a tower with 2 bars of strength which im pretty sure is killing my battery life because its STILL pushing Cell stuff to it (IE, my calls/texts) in fact while I havnt really been able to test this much a few of the times when i go downstairs (Thus losing the poor LTE tower and hopping over to the very good HSPA tower) i notice my battery drain seems to get a lot lower... But as i said i cant test that a lot

I've had pretty good battery life on my HOX+ so far, but, I've only owned the thing for a week. I think a lot of it depends on how you use the phone and also how much you prioritize battery life over convenience.
For example, I've got Google Now turned off along with all the AT&T apps removed entirely. In addition mobile data is usually turned off unless I actually need to use it and so on. So things might not be as convenient for me, but, battery life is pretty good. Although, when gaming it does go down quickly as expected.
The other night I took my phone off the charger around 2am when I went to sleep and when I woke up at 10:30am it was at 98%.
I recall someone mentioning that they lost 1% of battery life very 10 minutes when Google Now was running. So I just started it on my phone and then disabled it. Although, I believe it is 'off' by default.
I almost never install programs that run constantly in the background. Especially if it is one that will restarts after being terminated even though it isn't necessary. I've read you aren't supposed to terminate running processes, but, I just hate having some games 'billing service' running in the background all day because I played it 8 hours ago. I am pretty selective with when and how I end processes as it just wastes battery life to 'free memory' and then have all those same processes start running again.
Unfortunately this post probably doesn't add too much useful information, but, I need 10 posts so just bear with me, lol.
Heres my count for today...
Basically, a bit of youtube, a bit of music playing (around an hour i think) some web browsing, a little cut the rope (around 20ish mins?) played in Google Earth a bit (One app that never ran well.. until now!) Really and honestly i am not complaining one bit...
My cell signal in the background sucks, Thats probubly not helping matters (I know I can get a much better more solid connection if it was the HSPA+ tower but theres no way for me to disable the LTE apparently ) So basically I'm just annoyed that i feel the battery life could be extended if i could force it to connect to the tower with the strongest signal instead of the one with the LTE signal im not using at home because i have 40mbps FiOS....

So i want to port to verizon and get a 4g phone to lock in my unlimited data, but the horror stories of bad battery life are scaring me!
realistically, can you get through one day of moderate use without charging?
I just got mine, and am trying to train the battery and prune services to get maximum run time.
My first day with it, I ran Pandora in the car, plus Google Nav, plus LTE web browsing, etc. I got 4.5 hours full charge to shutdown.
I am still cycling the battery, and I used Juice Defender free for a few days. Now I am playing with Green Power Free, which I use on my froYo tablet. I can get around 8 hours off charger, now, on the OEM battery.
I want to keep the slim(-ish) profile, so i don't want the extended battery with back. But, I will probably experiment with the fleabay batteries and see what I can get.
Battery is a huge suck factor with the TBolt. But, no worse than the Evo 4G that I also ran for a month. And, for me, the speeds and coverage are better with LTE than wiMax.
I have a feeling that I will be shuffling the phone from charger at home to charger in car to charger at office. I hope that the USB port doesn't break....
I get around 14 hours a charge with light-moderate usage. If I don't use my phone at all it'll last a couple days. If I'm streaming lots of music, browsing the web, and making calls I get 6 hours at most.
It doesn't bother me because I am always somewhere I can charge if need be.
The battery life on the Thunderbolt does leave a little to be desired. That being said, if you want the fastest download and upload speeds than this is your phone. By rooting, you can use different kernels and profiles that CAN extend the battery but that is only a band-aid. I just posted this in another thread two seconds ago but ill post it here as well.

my post has nothing to with this thread, but dude..........you signature....HILARIOUS!!!!!!
I get 4-6 hours per battery on my thunderbolt. Screw trying to ooze every bit of battery life out of it. That's not why I bought it. 4g and bluetooth are always on and I use location services and push emails. Twitter and rss feeds autoupdate.
I bought this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Y6E5Z2
and it works great to charge all batteries. The extra batteries work pretty good, but the phone gets a little confused so I don't go below about 15-20% because sometimes it just shuts down. I think that is the battery software not being able to read the different batteries. The charger can charge one battery before my phone dies so I just switch as needed.
hmm, not exactly what i was hoping to hear. honestly i don't need a 4g phone now, but i want to grandfather in unlimited 4g before verizon takes that option away.
how good can the battery life get if you undervolt, turn off 4g when you're not web browsing, and buy the biggest battery that isn't obnoxiously large? how does the thunderbolt compare to the revolution or charge?

I usually get 5 hrs or so in a 4G area. A whole day roughly 10 hrs in a 3G area.
I just got my thunderbolt a few days ago and I've been stuck spending time next to a charger all the time so far but its worth the speeds!

Battery blows and something is draining the crap out of it even when sleeping. I'm gonna start analyzing with system panel soon to find the problem.
On a rom that has a toggle or using the lte on off app, you can toggle down to cdma/evdo unless you need to do something data intensive. Leaving lte on all the time isn't nessesary. Using aosp and stock battery, I easily make it through the day. I have the extended one though if I feel like it. Too heavy imo. Plus I look retarded when only I have the huge battery around 10 friends with super thin iphone 4's.

It's difficult to say whether one makes it through the day with moderate use since everyone's definition of moderate use is different. I'm rooted with das BAMF remix 1.8, stock kernel and settings, and after about 100 txt messages, half hour's worth of calls, 30 min. or so of gaming, and 30 min to hour of web browsing, all over 15 hours, my phone was at 68% at the end of the day. That's moderate usage for me, but most or some might call that light usage though. Oh and LTE on the entire time, but Wifi used for about 4 of those 15 hours.
my battery life is absolutely outstanding on this phone, even with 4g on all the time. maybe i just lucked out with a good phone?
I'm pretty sure the Revolution isn't that great on battery either and it's got 1 debloated ROM and BING! ewwww Granted the ROM out for it removes Bing but still. Also the Charge sucks down battery faster than the TBolt in my experience. If you get the extended battery like mentioned it lasts a pretty long time. I got it and thought I'd return it because of the size but it's really not that bad. It's definitely worth it to have the speeds and the dev support on this device! Plus it's not a Samsung and it doesn't come preloaded with Bing!!!

Battery shouldnt be a problem with moderate use. If your a heavy user just invest in an extra battery or two. or get the extended battery.
What is the deal with this phone? The battery life is not very good at all. I came from a phone that had a 1150 battery and this one has 1600! I am getting almost identical battery life as my old phone. I am running a fully debloated rom at stock clocks with the display turned all the way down and can HARDLY make it through an 8 hour work day. I've narrowed it down to the screen.
I remember reading about amoled when it was first announced and they said it would consume significantly less power than any other display technology. I'm starting to second guess this.
Its either the screen or the dual core processor that's draining this decent sized battery so fast.

I voided my warranty and your mum.
Yes ive also read that the way super amoled plus works, is there is no backlight and individual pixels light up, so its better to have simple wallpapers with mostly black, would probably give you better battery life, as most of the screen will no be using any energy.
All android devices murder their batteries. It's nothing new get over it lol.
This device gets decent battery life considering it's the most powerful option out currently though.
The general masses do not understand how to set these phones up for optimal battery life. There are threads all over XDA on how to do this.
This phone for android is probably the best or near best in its class. I am impressed. Its better than my captivate was. But come on, this type of thread it's getting annoying there's a few already with help and tips on your issue search for them. Maybe you just got high hopes, or maybe it's not the phone it's you. I don't think is the screen alone itself but the dual-core running at 1.2Ghz might eat more battery than your old phone with an smaller battery

You might want to install CPUSpy and BetterBatteryStats (BBS) so you can better diagnose where your battery issues are coming from. 8 hours seems very poor for this device. Use CPUSpy to see how much your device is running in deep sleep - with light usage I usually see around 80% deep sleep. You can use BBS to look for apps causing excessive wakelocks (BBS is available here on xda) to see if a particular app is causing the problem.
Unless you have a hardware problem, I don't think the display is your problem - the display on this device has a smaller percentage hit on battery use than my 3.2" LCD Aria.

Yet you've completely ignored people who have told you to get CPUSpy and BetterBatteryStats to figure out what's keeping your phone awake.
Most likely your phone is not defective, but you've installed an app that's hogging the battery or set up a configuration option that kills it, such as:
Hotmail calendar sync is known to cause massive battery drain due to a Hotmail server side bug
Some Exchange servers are misconfigured and cause major battery drain
Skype is a battery-hogging nightmare. If you absolutely have to use Skype, make sure to take it out with a task killer when you're done with it.
I haven't really pushed my device with screen-on time, however what are your idle battery drain statistics? If you have drain more than 2-3% per hour when the phone is idle (such as overnight), something is very wrong. You should be getting drain on the order of 1% an hour if you leave the phone overnight in moderate signal.

I havent ignored anyone. You assume that because I haven't responded to such comments that I haven't tried them. I frequently use cpuspy to make sure my phone is sleeping and I use bbs as well.
I'll leave the phone off the charger overnight to check it out though.
This still doesn't change the fact that HEAVY useage at 5+ hours of screen on time is absurd.
I am also planning to experiment with airplane mode and using only wifi tomorrow.

Make sure to do the following to get the most accurate data:
Top off to 100% (to the point you get the full-charged notification)
Remove from charger
Reset timers in CPUspy
Put phone down and go to bed

I'm not sure why you say 5 hour screen on time with heavy usage is absurd? Are you thinking that isn't possible with this device?

You can still exchange with a new one under 14 days or 30 days. 6 hours with screen on is not absurd on this phone in 12 hours. I have been with screen on with 2:45 hrs and voice with 45 min in 1 day and 8hrs with still 15+ % battery juice left.

IIRC, one of the review or comparison against iPhone4S benchmarked GS2 as 5 to 6 hours of internet browsing which means both screen on and using data. Wi-fi gives it a slightly longer battery life than cell data. Unfortunately, it didn't benchmark video playback time. iPhone4S spec says 8 hours of video. I hope GS2 is close to that. This is play video from local storage, not streaming. So, the data connection battery draw is out of picture. I managed to get 4+ hours of video playback with flight mode on with my old Captivate. Hopefully, GS2 will last longer, e.g. survive a coast to coast flight while still have some juice left for navigation.

He's not lying. I have seen 5 hours of screen on time and still had a little juice left at the end of 16 hour days. And it wasn't a one time deal. Seen it several times, though I usually don't use my phone that heavily. Yesterday I barely used my phone at all and was only down to like 85% after 16 hours.
This phone is far more meeting my battery life expectations. Better than touch pro, touch pro 2, og EVO, EVO 3d, epic touch 4g, and the galaxy nexus I ran for about 2 weeks. At 48% with over 12 hours moderate use.

saying your not on wifi, can you be? using wifi will use a ton less battery then using 3g to send and receive data.
WiFi isn't an option I'm an emt so I'm out and about when working, I can always charge my phone in the ambulance, I'm just jealous of everyone else's battery life, and when I left my phone unplugged at home overnight, on WiFi, the next morning it had lost a good amount of juice despite being on WiFi

Don't worry your not alone. I have all the tweaks. Burned through the battery in 6.5 hours today. I guess I am a heavy user.
Battery life is a little bit better than my OG Evo. I am not too excited about it since swapping battery is no longer an option.

Sorry this question is so off-topic but I'm really interested in being an emt, how stressful is it and do you feel like work takes over your everyday life or do you still keep your sanity by having a good enough amount of time for whatever you want to do?
I work 4 days a week. 48-50 hours a week but 3 days off is good enough for me, and the stress it depends, if you work 911 with fire its for sure stressful at times, you see a lot more, if you work for a private company, not 911, its less stressful you will run less intense calls and its a lot easier than 911, I've done both, private usually pays more, but the 911 is more satisfying and more intense at the same time
Yeah, my first charge I got 28+hrs with 7+ hrs screen on. I was blown away, needless to say. It's gone WAY downhill 2 days later. I must have installed some app that's Fn me up. Need to install better battery stats, I guess.
Still can't get XP to recognize new Evo as storage device.

People still use XP? Try resetting battery stats.
Did you have the OG? I read some where someone had to remove all their old HTC/Evo drivers, then reinstall the new Evo's drivers etc.

Xp is still good besides Microsoft is releasing to many os' and 7 is nice but 8 will probably be a flop..
Definitely not better then Epic Touch.
Mine has been awesome so far. I mowed my lawn yesterday and had the music player going the whole time. So after about 2 1/2 hrs I was only down to 96%. My old EVO would drain to about 70-75% after mowing my lawn. By the end of the day (8:30am-11pm), after fairly moderate use, I was still only down to 45%.
Battery is AWESOME!
I'm very impressed with the battery life.
30 minutes of calling over bluetooth, hours of screentime, streaming music for over an hour over bluetooth, 3G all day.
And at 1am it was still at 40%
I've had the HTC One X+ for a week now and it's a really good phone, however, the battery really lets it down. The battery drain is terrible on my phone. The phone is really good in sleep mode, only losing about 2% in 1 hour, but as soon as it's not in sleep mode, as soon as you start to use the phone, the battery drains like hell. For example, when I'm web surfing or using applications, it loses 1% like every 2 minutes and that's crazy!
I don't know why, power saver is on, switched to 2G instead of 3G, disabled Google Now, auto-sync, basically everything I think would drain the battery. Brightness is on it's minimum. I feel so restricted when using my phone! But I've read other people having really good battery life even with moderate use, so am I doing something wrong? Should I factory reset my phone? Is there something wrong with my phone? Can someone help me?
Thanks!!
Have you disabled all AT&T apps? They drain battery as hell especially ATT locker.

Under Settings/Sounds/Ring Tone untick the three options as they just have the sensors constantly checking, then under Settings/Power untick Fastboot.
Then get a battery monitor app like GSam Battery Monitor which pinpoints the power drainer. How many apps do you have installed? Dump the ones you hardly ever use.
Also, several charge/discharge cycles are necessary before battery reaches best performance.

I think losing 2% of battery every hour of standby is pretty bad. How many hours of screen time on do you get from a full charge to around 10%?

Won't lie i got the same problem you are facing right now. The battery life is horrible, in fact it only lasts about 3-4 hours gaming if i am lucky. Before 5 minutes i opened a game called "dead trigger" my battery was 94% after 5 minutes of playing guess what? BOOM 89% straight which is extremely bad from my point of view.
You know, you do have screen with a high resolution, and you're using the max of the graphic and other chips while gaming...and that costs power...most likely NFC is active, as is BT, 4G, brightness on 200%, the loudspeaker blearing some music out of the cloud, GPS on, and 15 apps not closed properly, weather syncing every 5 secs, and 700 apps installed from Happy Santa to FakeYourPhone!
I really can't get it that you complain about it. It is a mobile smartphone that can be used to play games. If your priority lies with the latter, have a charger handy with you! Play, enjoy, and stop moaning...Period!

Bad Battery Drain as well
I'm going to tack onto this thread. I got the HTC One X+ about a week 1/2 ago. The phone is amazing. It has everything I want, but I cannot make it through the day once without always consciously thinking about battery drain and how quickly the phone just sucks down the power. The following Battery Monitor graph is when I have JuiceDefender installed so it turns off the data radio whenever the screen is off or I'm connected to WiFi. I was on WiFi from 7:45 this morning all the way to 5:00pm. The drain on this thing is so fast. I didn't watch a single video today nor any games. This is all facebook data, internet data, and just some general playing on the phone. I also turn on the power save feature for Jelly bean so I turned off vibration feedback, brightness is turned down, and CPU saving is turned on.
Do I have a dud phone or is the One X+ really that awful on the battery? I'm strongly considering taking it back but every single other thing about the phone is great but if the battery on every One X+ is that bad I don't know if it's worth it. Please help assuage my fears or give me some advice on what I can do better.
Do you have Google now active?

I do. I kind of thought it was one of the neater parts of Jelly Bean. Is it a complete battery hog? This is my 1st android phone but I'm a long time Smartphone owner. I'm guessing by your question I should disable it and see how the battery performs.
It is an LTE phone though i'm on wifi 90% of my day. Background apps that run are usually Whatsapp, Facebook, and Linkedin. Right now I'm losing about 2% charge every 10 minutes if I'm using it. I gotta plug the thing in as much as I can just so I can use it. I'm perfectly fine with tweaking the thing, just not sure how much 'tweaking' is needed to get some better performance out of the things.
I'm wondering if Facebook is the problem... Just a thought...
The One X+ isnt that bad in terms of battery life in my experience, I've done 15.5 hours with 2.5 hours screen on time, Not sure what folks are expecting, Thats pretty average for a smartphone... That is with Wi-Fi on, LTE on, Google Now on, Autosync on, the little weather widgety clock thing on.. and pretty much me not doing anything besides closing apps when im done with it, I have Kik messanger and TextPlus on in the background but they arent doing much to my battery life... I dont use the power saver until it toggles at 15% battery life, I have vibration on, and my brightness is fixed at like 33% constantly... I have every ATT app disabled in the app thing.. I also have the "best Wi-Fi performance" thing ticked which says it might use more battery...
Yes, Gaming and watching videos on the thing is going to drain the battery out fast, Just like every smartphone I've ever owned... Its better than my GSM Nexus with the stock battery (Its roughly halfway between the stock battery and the extended one) and better than the S3 I had very briefly (However I will note the S3 couldnt keep a signal at all whereas my One X+ can...) The conversion seems to be that you trade about 2 hours standby time for 30 minutes of screen-on usage in my case
Picture 1 is me using my phone normally in a day.. 15.5 hours is more than enough (I'd say i get closer to 13 or 14 average) with 2.5 hours of screen on time
Picture 2 was me basically doing nothing but watching Youtube and playing games this morning... its really not all that bad, the biggest consumer/ battery hog for me is Mediaserver for some reason, I'm not actually 100% sure why (I know what it is...) or if i could pull even better battery life if there is something actually wrong with it and its draining my battery excessively... But I'm not complaining about it because well.. this was me abusing my phone pretty much
Not arguing that some folks are getting rubbish battery life, Because they are, I'm actually more curious as to whats causing it, There has to be something here and some way to fix it
Follow up to yesterday's battery
Ok in the attachment is my usage today. As you can see it is totally what I would expect from the phone. I got it to that point by disabling Google Now. That kind of stinks however, I can actually use my phone without being nearby an electrical outlet all the time. The other thing that works well is how much cooler it is to the touch under normal use. Normally it was quite hot. I work in a basement(3 bars with LTE) so my guess is Google Now was always trying to utilize location (even if it wasn't immediately obvious) on the screen via the indicator and thus would just kill my battery especially when I would pick it up to use it with the screen. I wish I could use Google Now but perhaps I can slowly bring back some of it's abilities and find a happy medium.
I'd also like to make note that I am still utilizing the power saving features for Jelly Bean along with JuiceDefender.
No offense but I cant read that battery thing you got. I cant see how long you used it or anything, all i can tell is your battery is at 70%...

Sounds more in line with what im getting... Though i have Google Now on... Weird.. Very weird
GSam is a bit nicer and free FYI so you might wanna give it a look
how much playback time should I be getting for 720p mp4 files? My phone drains about 10% every 20 minutes with power save on, auto sync and all wireless radios off and minimum brightness, I am quite disappointed, is this normal drain?
I had to open my big mouth, Now my One X+ has developed a little problem It wont enter Deep Sleep so yeah... now the battery life isnt terribly great
You guys might wanna check that your phone is entering deep sleep and not getting held awake by something, because now im seeing similar drain to you guys...
Very new issue though, Weird... I uninstalled an app I felt might have caused it and ill see if that fixes it, Currently recharging my One X+ to reset the counters and everything...
According to BBM, It appears to be my Wi-Fi keeping the phone awake for some reason... Next step if the uninstallation doesnt fix things will be to disable Wi-Fi and see if that changes anything
Since people only post on negative battery experience while the happy ones are silent, I will break the silence.
I have and use the One X+ (international non-LTE, in central Europe) for one week. Today, I just used it to browse web for several hours (browser was consuming 55% at time of screenshot) and read some pdf (pdf viewer was consuming 17%; I flipped about 200 pages in fast way as it was mildly boring ebook with big fonts so no zooming). There were about 10 minutes of web or youtube video too.
The screenshot shows battery graph at 38% of battery left, after 8 hours since plugged.
I guess (based on the screenshot bars and based on the actual usage) the screen-on time was about 60% (so between 4.5 and 5 hours).
Boo at HTC for removing screen-on time counter.
Google now is off.
Mobile data is off.
WiFi is on.
Power saver mode is off.
Brightness was automatic, usually around 30%.
No extra battery monitor was running (they may affect battery while measuring too).
Stock rom, one OTA update was performed.
Android version 4.1.1
Build 1.17.401.1
I have never managed to fully discharge the battery so its measurements may not be fully calibrated.
no problems here
This phone has great life for me. The only times I've had a problem getting a full day was when I first got it and basically didn't put it down. Since then I usually have 30-50% left at the end of the day. I wonder what some people do to drain the battery so much...

I disagree.
I don't game at all. I get about 10-14hrs of battery life with 1-2hrs of screen time with most of that running on LTE and with Power Saver ON. That is OK, but not great at all. I would like to get that type of battery life with 3-4 hours screen time and using Navigation. I think for people that use their phone for work and travel for work, you ideally need 16hrs battery life with 3-4 hours screen time with some GPS/Navigation. Don't think this phone will every get there.
I've finally got my IT to give me WIFI access at work to avoid 3G/LTE and today I'm testing if Juice Defender is better than Power Saver mode, but based on my current drain, I don't sure i'll make it to 16hrs.
In either case, I found the drain while running Navigation to be HUGE (40%+/h) and if Power Saving mode is OFF the phone will overheat as well (55C/130F).
Still I love this phone, but hope I can find a way to squeeze as much battery as possible. When I look over to say the Nexus 4 forum, I'm a bit envious on what those users are achieving on their batteries.

I'm debating switching from the N4 to the HOX+ but the battery is one huge concern. I traded a RAZR HD for a HOX+ and i should have it tomorrow so i can compare the two. I've been averaging between 4 and 5 hours of screen time per day, with my best being 5h 31min. The only thing that I'm thinking will help my case for the OX+ is that i will only use it on hspa+ instead of LTE.

Well, I choose the HOX+ mainly because you can't buy a N4, unless you go to the aftermarket and pay a premium. Also the 16GB is just not enough and LG lost me a customer coming from the LG G2x. Plus in Canada, there's not much benefit buying a phone off-contract. I was off-contract for the past 3yrs and my experience wasn't any better than the the providers that lock you in. That said, I'm guessing you will see better battery on your N4 compared to the HOX+...but hey, I don't either will come close to the RAZR HD for battery life.

I had a RAZR HD for a few days. Wasn't impressed with the battery life to be honest. Maybe the Maxx version is better. And I was one of the lucky limbo level 3'ers from the N4 launch, that was not fun.

Doubt the HOX+ can beat my N4! Kinda sucks cuz they have the same size battery

Maybe I've not been using it for heavy gaming, but in the month I've had the phone, I've not run into any serious battery issues. If this were an issue, I'd probably install JuiceDefender, and configure it as per my schedule so push E-mails are not constantly keeping the radio on, as well as throttling CPU back.
I also have a charger in my car, so if I'm on the road, it gets charged.
my battery life usually gets me through the day until about 7pm with around 3hrs screen on time so i cant complain too much. i listen to music a lot and text heavily
Yeh. I dont thjnk ive seen better battery from any hox+ posted here. Ive seen 5hr screen time but the total run time is 6hrs.

I might have a bad car charger, but when I'm running Navigation, it still drains the battery at 10%/h.
I think I do have higher battery life expectations. I tested with Juice Defender yesterday, and basically it provides around the same benefit as running in Battery Saver mode. Got 2hrs screen time with 14 hrs total run time while mostly connected to WIFI (maybe 2hrs or so connected to HSPA/LTE). Again this is OK...but not great.
Today I am testing with both JD and Power Saver on and will report back. It's the last day of my 14 day return/exchange policy and I'm planning to keep the HOX+. I have a very slight inclination to change to LG Optimus G as I believe it has the potential to get the same battery life as the Nexus 4. But I'm scared as hell about the LG support and the if people think the Dev community is thin here, it's basically a ghost town there. That said, it looks like they have a good build for CM 10.1.
Here is my best battery stat for HOX+, no games mainly whatsapp use with wifi on. Few voice calls and sms.
