I am having a Samsung Galaxy txt for a couple of years now. It is working great. But i am planning to put a costume ROM on it because i don't want all these pre-loaded apps on it (takes allot of useful phone memory space). Is there any well known ROM for this phone? And if there is, how can i put it on the device? or is their just a way of moving these apps to the SD card?

First download the rom by searching through the forum then turn on the usb debugging on your phone> usb connection on MSC mode & copy paste it to the sd card. Then go to CWM recovery wipe & format system, data ,cache & flash the rom.

OK first you might want to give complete directions. Those only work if already rooted on a custom recovery.
Do the research for your device. I don't e end think it has unlocked bootloaders so it may not be an option to begin with

Hi Folks,
I've a problem and I hope some of you guys can help me. I tried to install the latest nightly build of CyanogenMod on my SGS2 and unfortunally, my phone won't boot anymore.
I've got several backups from my phone I made using CWM Backup on my Harddrive but I am just able to copy them to my external SD card. However, CWM only finds backups on the internal SD card.
My question now is: How can I make CWM to look for backups on the external card or else: Is it possible to move to backups to the internal card (Keep in mind: I'm unable to boot).
I didn't find related issues on the board, so any help is appreciated!
Regards,
Manuel
i dont have the answer to your question but i'll share my similar experience of trying to flash cm rom. After unsuccesfully flashing cm rom (device wont boot anymore) i've downloaded a stock rom on my pc and flash it thru odin (entering downloading mode HOME + VOL- + POWER ).Once the device came back to life i just go on and continued experiencing
Hi Guys,
I'm sorry, I really did not want to bother you. However, I solved the problem by myself. The hint that helped me out can be found on androidforums.com.
I did not know that you are able to connect your pc to your phone (as a mass storage device) from CWM Recovery itself (see linked post). After copying the backup to my internal storage via USB, I was able to restore it using CWM Recovery.
Nevertheless, thanks for all the other useful tipps on this forum, I'm so glad to have my phone back! Amazing...
Greets,
Manuel
PS: I'm not yet allowed to post links here, but the post mentioned can be found on androidforums.com under "> Android Phones > Samsung Galaxy S2 > Galaxy S2 - All Things Root > Semi Bricked Help!" Post #9: "Boot into recovery, connect to the PC via USB, go to "mounts and storage" and select "mount USB storage"." After that your device is recognized by your os as a mass storage device.
Boot into CWM, Mount & Storage, Mount USBStorage, plug phone into PC, copy files to internal SD, unplug, flash, voila.
edit: seems im too late x)
Late or not, thanks a lot, mate! ;-)
You see, I'm happy...
BTW: Can I edit the title to prepend a [SOLVEDĀ“]?
now that you are back on the road i can reccomand you a CyMode rom tested by me and is the fastest and simplest rom ,worth trying without warrying :

what do you mean ?
Hi,
I have a similar problem but mine isn't solved - not realising the SGS2 has internal SD storage I've stupidly managed to do a nandroid backup and then format the internal SD. Have tried to mount the storage as mentioned above but the PC doesn't see the internal SD.
Help!!
George
I had problems with my galaxy S, which was running on official 2.3.6
I decided to wipe everything clean and install a custom rom
But during the process, I've come across a weird weird problem
I started to get UIDs system error and was asking me to wipe data partition to use the phone
so I tried to wipe all the partitions
I have tried wiping int sd card via phone -> didn't work
I have tried wiping via cwm -> didn't work
I have tried wiping & re-partition via odin + reinstall -> didn't work
I have physically deleted contents from int sd while connected via USB -> didn't work
I have formatted the removable disk (int sd) while connected via USB -> didn't work
what I mean by didn't work is, the next time I reboot, I find that all the contents in my phone comes back alive...
I don't know what I can do to fix this problem
I can install new mods fine, but due to the fact that old system files and apps are present together, which didn't get wiped, and causes clashes and my phone won't work as it starts up... I really don't know how I can fix this problem and wipe my phone clean to "resurrect" it..
please help me if you know solution to this problem
This really sounds weired.....
You should download sd maid for root users (search for the paid version)
There you have many options for finding odd data on your sdcard and internal phone storage
you can delete files
sd maid makes you find some dead apps wich make your problems
give me a feedback if it works..or not
stay well

hey thanks for the suggestion, but at the moment, I can't use the phone at all because all my basics apps and system apps clashes on boot up, no matter what I flash on to my phone, hence basically it won't start up.. so I can't use any apps infact the phone itself
Only thing I can do is via CWM recovery mode, or via odin
If you know how to deal with this problem via that way, it will be great~

First of all, Merry Chrismas to everyone...
I am another total noob trying to get through installing a ROM in an old Motorola atrix 4G. I managed to unlock and root the phone successfully. But upon instllation of the ROM, the phone will not load. The phone will only show the logo... I can go back to recovery mode (CWM 4.0) but I find out I have no recovery images... just the two CM zip files I wanted to try...
I assume that my first option would be to try a new ROM, but I cannot access my external SD card and I have no idea how to access the internal one to lead new .zip files on it..
I keep reading in the forums how people instruct others to load new ROMs... but how do I go around that? I can take the external sd card and use my pc to play around with it, but then I cannot see it on CWM. I do not know how to access the phone from my pc and the battery is almost gone so I am stuck to the power outlet via usb..
Is there any wayI can go around this? Many thanks in advance.. .
tldr stuck in probably a boot loop with no recovery options on CWM and no battery... external SD card should be my last resort... wat do?

You can access stoarage in cwm:victory: Just go to cwm > mounts and storage > mount usb storage to pc (or something similar at the bottom of the list) and connect to your pc using a usb. Drag the rom that you want to flash, do a full wipe (if not you will be in a bootloop) and then reboot, all fixed!

Haha ummm, download a ROM to an SD card (buy a cheap small one if you don't have one, to save yourself in situations like this), put it in, install that beast.

What carrier you have doesn't matter... all versions of the G3 has an sdcard slot, which you can use if you have an external sdcard. It supports up to 128GB.
OP, just download a new ROM file on a computer and put it on a microsd. TWRP can install it from that.
SDCARD
when did verizon get a external sdcard?i havent seen any external sdcard vs985
edit:nevermind you are right
hey guys, I did the same as the OP. I tried loading an OS onto an SD card and I cant it to mount in TWRP. what am I doing wrong??

After you've flashed the zip, you don't need to keep that zip on your phone at all anymore. The OS is installed and you're all good. I mean, you should keep it on an external sd, in case something like this happens again - but you don't have to. If you're low on space, delete the original zip, but make a backup in TWRP - that is more handy to have anyway.

Is this the same with any downloads such as roms , addons, modems, hotspot provisions and the like, once they are in TWRP Recovery can I delete them from my phone /sd/ downloads and they remain in TWRP?
They aren't in TWRP recovery, they are installed into your phone, replacing stuff that was already there. The zip archives are just downloaded so TWRP can be used to install (flash) them. Those archives don't run in your phone. You can delete them and re-download them later if you ever need to flash them again (not likely).
Format your SD cards as fat32 - you'll need a tool to do so (just Google it, or look on this forum in the TWRP thread). Alternatively, you can use the "push" command from a computer through ADB to send a file directly to your phone's internal memory. You can Google that up as well. Actually, I did that one for you...

The ROM to my tablet (which is this exact model) is corrupted and will only boot into the recovery mode but I can't find a ROM for it anywhere. Any way I can get the system.tar, boot.img, and recovery.img that this person posted and make a working ROM out of it? Searches have come up pretty dry. I tried contacting him but no response. I already tried clearing out the cache and factory resetting it, it keeps going into recovery mode so I know it's a problem with the ROM.
Is that a no? I could really use some help here since my tablet is basically useless in its current form.

are you on a custom recovery ex twrp/cwm. and does your tab have a external micro sd card slot
if you are, make a backup to your external micro sd.
pull out your sd put it into your computer copy the files you posted from the other guys thread into your external sd in the twrp/backup/####/corressponding folders to the files you posted. put your card back in. go to twrp restore that backup. then wipe cache/delvik cache/ and data then reboot.(do not use the recovery .img he posted)
No custom recovery, this is the standard Android recovery menu Would that change anything or can I still pretty much do it as you described? It has an external micro sd card slot of course.
Anyone who is able to help me? I honestly looked everywhere for a recovery ROM for this thing but the only people I've found who actually have the tablet are also having problems with it. I'm beginning to think RCA is garbage when it comes to tablets. It was going great until that firmware update screwed everything up.
