usb drivers needed - Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500

my galaxy 5 is currently stuck in a bootloop...i can enter download mode through the hardware key combination, but unfortunately the device driver is somehow missing. i have uninstalled and reinstalled samsung usb drivers several times, including kies (ugh, can't believe those words just came out of my mouth). does anyone have any suggestions or perhaps a sure-fire driver? thanks in advance.

How about restarting your pc after installing kies.

[Q] usb device not recognized. help!

When I plug my phone into my computer, it is no longer recognized by windows. It used to... now it doesnt...
I have googled this
I have checked the forums
I have NOT found a solution that works
I have tried booting my phone while it's plugged in.
I have tried reinstalling kies.
The phone comes up as "uknown device" in the usb section of device manager, when i specify the 64bit drivers(I'm running win7 pro 64) it says drivers are up to date! and then proceeds not to work.
I have also tried setting my phone into usb debugging mode.
I have tried all my computers usb ports.
If anyone knows how to help me I'd really appreciate it.... and if I've blindly missed something feel free to call me a moron so long as you successfully help me

I have noticed that some ROM's will enable debugging, I personally run a MAC. But you may want to check those settings to see if its enabled/disabled. But if your charging on it you should be good. Have you tried to odin back to stock and seeing if that helps?
Other thing: do you have the samsung drivers installed on your PC? even if you don't you should still see the external storage just not the internal.

What rom are you using? If you are running one of the test CM7 builds you have to download the Google drivers from the Android SDK.
Does your phone show up when you mount it as external memory? Did you install the drivers and kies as an administrator?
exact same scenario!
I am having the exact same issues as the OP! Except that i have the unbranded gt-i9000. My galaxy s is completely stock, no custom firmware or launchers. Heck, after the last factory reset, not even any apps!
I have tried every suggestion on every search i could do. I have 4 computers with xp sp3, win7 sp1, ubuntu 10.04.1, and mac os x 10.5.8. Nothing is working on any of them. I've even tried different usb cables, just to rule that out.
Could it be a samsung hardware issue?

[SOLVED][Q] Samsung Mobile Composite Device - Device Cannot Start (Code 10)

I've searched but am unable to locate the answer to my issue.
I recently upgraded to a new computer. The old one was a 2GHz dual-core running Win 7 Home 64-bit. The new one is a 3GHz, i5 running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. For the life of me, I cannot get the USB driver to start.
On the SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device properties I get "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
I have downloaded, installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Samsung drivers from multiple sources, including the drivers from Samsung's site.
I've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Kies multiple times.
I've moved the cable to different ports on the PC.
I've clicked debugging on/off
I've selected MTP instead of Mass Storage.
I've rebooted the PC and phone multiple times after these installations.
Nothing seems to help. I continually get the same error.
Anyone have a suggestion before I take this phone and throw it against the wall?
When I run into that issue, it usually turns out to be a busted USB cable.
Either switch the cable or inspect the port on your phone to see If all the pins are aligned

Try uninstalling KIES and install KIES Mini to try and get the proper drivers installed.
If that doesn't work it may be an issue with the custom ROM and/or Kernel. I'd suggest flashing over to something else to see if that fixes the issue.
SOLVED!

Well done BROKKANIC! It must have been the AOKP ROM I was using. I updated to the latest update and now the composite device is working. With my Captivate, Artix and SGSII, I've flashed ROMs hundreds of times and this is the first time I've ever run in to this problem.
Thanks for the suggestion!

[Q] Can't install S3 drivers

So, trying to install the driver exe file from Samsung's website and it won't work. Keeps saying that it failed to install drivers. And, if I have the phone as USB Debugging enabled, it'll pop up with 2 out of 4 that says it failed to install.
My roommate was able to install the .exe file on his Windows 8 beta laptop (I'm running Windows 7 64-bit) without a problem. And, the phone installed fine on his laptop as well. For me, no.
If USB Debugging is not enabled, then yeah, the phone is fine. But, since I want to root this thing, it won't accept the drivers. And, nowhere on Google, searching or Samsung's website provides me any answers whatsoever.
I've done:
Going through regedit and deleting all things Samsung related
Deleted every Samsung folder on my hard drive
Rebooted the computer
Uninstalled the drivers
Reinstalled multiple times
Downloading and installing Kies (did not install any drivers, still failed)
I've done everything I can possibly think of. Couldn't find any answers on here, either. And, doesn't help that the search function is broken.
So, anyone have any idea on how to fix this? And, please do not say "Reinstall Windows" because that's just ridiculous and I shouldn't have to do that for a simple phone driver install. I had my Epic 4G before and that all went smoothly.
Go do something in control panel and uninstall the samsung drivers that you already have on your comp
Then try installing
But I reccomend reinstalling windows

I had the same issue with mine on xp. Uninstalled my et4g drivers and installed the gs3 drivers. After a restart, the pc finally recognized my phone as a mass storage.

And, I'm not reinstalling Windows all over again just for this phone, as I also said. But, it doesn't matter, I already got it rooted through the roommate's laptop.
EDIT: I managed to get it to work. My other half had similar problems with device drivers so just had to have me remove the phone from USB, uninstall driver and then plug the phone back in. And, it actually worked.

Hardware ID missing

After flashing my phone a few times with different roms my pc running windows 7 64x gave me an error message when my phone was connected saying hardware I'd missing windows could not detect the device plugged in sometimes it works other times it doesnt. Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
I'm having the same problem, and none of the solutions mentioned works for me.
The problem only occurs when the phone is connected to my machine running Windows 7 64-bit. It doesn't happen on another computer running 32-bit Windows 7.
I assume the problems lies with the 64-bit drivers.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try.
To do that would I just uninstall Kies, reboot, and then reinstall Kies using Windows XP Compatibility mode?
Sounds like its completely nothing to do with Samsung/Kies. The problem lies within Windows update I believe.

I had already tried that before I posted here - several times in fact. It was the "compatibility mode" you mentioned that I was interested in trying. How do I do that? Is that just a matter of reinstalling Kies in Windows XP compatibility mode?
Yes. Install it in compatibility mode for Vista but Xp.
I know you have tried my steps before but just follow it. Replace install kies with install kies in compatibility mode

Just to update this, I followed the procedure you suggested and reinstalled Kies in Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) Compatibility Mode. After rebooting the same problem happened again.
I then uninstalled Kies and repeated everything again, this time installing and running in Windows XP (Service Pack 3) Compatibility Mode.
That seemed better at first, but now I'm getting the "Hardware Id Missing" balloon come up again and Kies cannot see the phone.
Thanks for your help, but I'm still looking for a solution to this problem if anybody has one.

I had the same problem I think it's the 64 bit system and samsung's new update of drivers something that help me was
1. When you plug in your device on your phone screen it has a usb symbol at the top pull down the notification bar
2. Press Connected as media device (mtp)
3. Change from media device (mpt) to camera (ptp)
4 . It should work now

Odin not recognizing my S2 in download mode

Hi all, I understand this issue has been posted many times but I may have a different issue than most. Both of my s2 phones cant be seen by Odin in debugging mode but recognized when booted up.
1. I have checked and both Samsung USB and ADB drivers are installed fine and seen in devices and printers within windows 7. (tried different flavours of the driver too)
2. Debugging mode is on before going into download mode
3. I have tried 2 known working cables as I used them previously to update.
4. Tried 3 different versions of Odin
5. Tried 4 different USB ports
One is on stock android ICS and the other on the wrong version of ICS I9100P instead of I9100. I did this in error when first playing with ROMs.
I haven't tried it on another machine although that may be an option later next week. I am guessing it has to be the PC but at a loss as to what could be causing it.
Any help would be appreciated since I have been playing around with this for 4 hours and getting no where.
thanks in advance
Chris
Well Chris, it's time for you to download Kies.
And close the antivirus just in case.
Laptops are good for this kind of thing too.

But make sure that Samsung drivers is installed. uninstall the kies and disable your anti-virus.

I tried rebooting and disabling the antivirus but it made no difference. Never tried it without kies installed, although I opened up task manager and killed all related processes to do with kies. I suppose its something to try tonight!
I checked to see if kies would see the devices and the GT-I9100 Stock ROM connected fine but the fact that I have a foreign rom on the other one causes issue.
Its an odd one
uninstall all the adb or samsung drivers including kies restart and then just only install kies

Its worth a try mate, I will give it a go tonight.
I have been going over it in my head. It has to be the adb driver as it works in kies, gets recognised by odin when turned on and affects multiple devices. What really puzzles me is that when in download mode the driver loads fine and the phone is showing in devices and printers. The only thing not seeing it is odin.
Try 3 odin versions at least.
Another usb port/cable.
Another pc/laptop.

Yeah, in the end I just put the os image and kernel on an sd card then ran them direct. That way I didn't need to use Odin or a pc at all!
