[Q] Difference b/w Sii i9100 vs SII SHW-M250K - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought a samsung galaxy sII and i found it is a korean version (SHW-m250k). and I want to know what is the difference between i9100 and my phone? Which one is better or the two are same? Please help...

Basically its the same..But there are differences in hardware and firmwares. Just keep in mind that you cant flash i9100 roms to your m250k. There are separate sections for Korean versions in the forum. Carefully read them if you are going to root your phone.

All of South Korean variants have a T-DMB tuner in place of FM radio tuner. They also have Samsung's Korean input system for feature phones as well as Dubeolsik layout in their virtual keyboard.
The SK Telecom SHW-M250S variant uses SK-MMS system instead of OMA-MMS system for MMS. Additional features for SK Telecom users are installed by default.
This SHW-M250K variant uses KT's Wi-Fi CM[clarification needed] instead of Android's Wi-Fi CM to connect Wi-Fi. Additional features for KT users are installed by default.
Because of mobile networks LG U+ have, the LG U+'s Galaxy S II (SHW-M250L) uses EV-DO Rev.B (KPCS 1.8 GHz) instead of WCDMA and HSPA. It is slightly thicker (9.4 mm) than SK Telecom and KT variants (8.89 mm). Additional features for LG U+ users are installed by default.
while the Basic hardware like CPU and GPU are the same with both I9100 and the M250K, its the firmware thats been different here

thanks

No NFC for UK?

So theres no NFC for the uk version?
And apparently present in the Korean version when released?
Anyone know about versions in other regions?
Yeah, our korea Galaxy S2 will be released today or tomorrow. (It's KST - GMT +09 time)
Perfectly Korean version include NFC function.
But, korean version S2 too many localised to Korea
(like non-standard mms spec, smaller frequencies support than EU version, many bloat ware...ETC)
detail symptom is refer that my link.

Thanks.
It was apparently to keep the device as thin as possible. Some GS2's outside of the UK, the US and east asia will also be running on Tegra 2 and SLCD.

It's a 1.2 GHz Exynos now, not 1 GHz.
Is there any info for NFC for any other region?
I'd love to play with an exynos... but I much rather having one that has NFC considering I have the atrix... so the performance on exynos over tegra isnt that important but I'd love to experiment with nfc...
Also is the mms + sms difference in the korean version hardware or software?
As it has an unlocked bootloader, if its just software then I wont worry too much XD

MMS spec is perfectly different.
Most of GSM carrier use OMA-MMS. but korea SKTelecom use theris own SK-MMS spec. Framework layer and application layer are PERFECTLY different.
If only application problem, you will replace another sms application (like handcent) but, framework problem is critical issue. If you fixed this problem, you will modify GS2 SMS/MMS framework. may be impossible.
And our Korea galaxy S1 can't buff from XDA. because not global model its korea localised model.
I think GS2 may be same..
So I recommend that buy your region's i9100 model or wait a SG2 later model.(like SG3?!)
So it will be unlikely that the korean version's software can be replaced with the international version then?
Sigh... Thats unfortunate then

[Q] I900 vs I9100T frequencies - changeable

I suspect someone has asked this before, but I can't see an answer...
Here in Israel, the S2 is marketed as two versions - the I9100 and the I9100T. From what people have been saying, it seems the former supports the 900/1900/2100 bands while the latter supports the 850/1900/2100 bands (there's also a difference in the SAR). However, all the specs I've seen for the device indicate it's supposed to be a quad-band device.
Is the difference in available frequencies something hardwired into the particular model? Or can I change it by changing the firmware?
Thx
I have an i9100t in australia which is 850mhz network telstra, however the 3g data has some problems on a 900mhz network. This phone maybe different even though the specification says dual 850/900hz be careful. I do not have a solution yet. Hopefully this can be fixed by firmware mod.

[Q] Is the Samsung Galaxy S II penta band 3G 850 900 1700 1900 2100 frequencies

Hi all
Thanks in advance for any help please provide links if possible. So I've finally stopped waiting for Nokia and then Nokia/Microsoft to get their act together and jumped on the android wagon. It seems android has everything I'm looking for (sync to outlook, office document viewing editing, etc not Garmin yet though).
Anyway I've been doing research on the Samsung galaxy s2 and found some discussion on the 3G modem/antenna being penta band. Is this true? If so can I get links, also how do you enable all the bands? Or can you enable those bands that pertain to the firmware and have to keep the other bands on the phone so if you need them you can flash.
Side question I played with a korean S2 and saw that it has NFC on the apps (out of the box). I'm pretty sure this is true but I'm having some doubts as the FAQ and some other forum member claim that no current S2 has this feature.
Thanks
It's quad band 3G. 850/900/1900/2100. It does not do 1700.
From Samsung.com:
Quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Quad band UMTS 850/900/1900/2100

As for NFC, the I9100 does not have it. I'm not sure if any of the other Asian models (different model numbers too) have it or not.
I heard that the modem intel x626 gold is penta band (unconfirmed) that is in the galaxy s2. Also the tmobile version is coming out which has 1700mhz this might lead me to believe that it is penta band in hardware and only needs software.
Only the korean version of the s2 has NFC.
No other version has it as cell phone providers are thinking of releasing it attached to the sim card as soon as the technology has stabilized and is widely available in a number of countries.
here is some information about in this blog.

the sd card sounds like a good idea as a aftermarket part but I thought I saw the SGS2 with NFC on ebay as the I9101. what would happen if I had to add extra memory to the phone?

I emailed Brian Klug that did the review of the SGS2 on Anandtech.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4686/samsung-galaxy-s-2-international-review-the-best-redefined/
It is one of the most in depth that I have seen but here is what he says about the SGS2 being penta band.
"XG-626 is compatible with more bands, however the limiting factor always is whether the device manufacturer has provided the power amps for those other bands, and in this case there aren't more."

GS2 Korean M250K model

Hey guys,
I have searched throughout the forums but have not been able to find a solid answer. I just got a Korean variant of the SG2, model M250K. I reside in Canada and am on the Fido network which is the same as Rogers. Wondering if this is a software or hardware issue. I am on the stock Korean firmware. The phone is working except I cannot acquire 3G data. Is there anything I can do to let it acquire 3g speeds here, Fido uses the 850 frequency. As far as I have read the korean firmware does not use that frequency hence I am getting edge connections. Are all of the Samsung Galaxy S2 phones built the same ie, GSM phones all have the same abilities. Would flashing to another firmware allow me to connect to the 850 frequency. Basivcally is this a software issue or hardware issue. Thanks guys.

Korean or International Developer help much appreciated plz

Hi I have a question regarding the Korean Version of the Galaxy SHV-E210S or K comparing to the Upcoming GT-I9305
Both will have the same specs (QUAD EXYNOS + LTE + 2GB RAM) only difference is the model numbers, now I was wondering how will the ROM support flashing be. Will the roms and kernels be interchangeable?
What about with the the above 2 phones with >>> GT-I9300... how interchangeable are they?.
As the Korean version will soon be released internationally in certain countries only carrying a different model number I just want to know before purchasing one or the other.
THank you
