Screen stays on while talking - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi,
I am wondering if the screen staying on while talking is normal for the Verizon Galaxy Note 2. The screen always turns off on all the other phones I have owned while talking, but that is not happening with the Note 2. Does this happen for you as well? If not, do you think I have a defective phone or is there a way to fix this? Everything else seems normal and fine with the phone, but even if I click the button to turn the phone off while talking, the screen comes back on after a couple of seconds. If this isn't actually a problem and is normal, why would they leave the screen on while talking? It would just burn through the battery quicker. Thanks for your help!
-Dave

Go to your dialer then hit menu and go to call settings and check auto screen off during calls. I had the same problem the other day.

Awesome! That fixed the problem. I didn't even realize you could access those options. Now the phone is perfect. Thanks for your help!

No problem

My solution to sticky slider.

Whenever I try to unlock my streak, half the time I get the sticky slider then can't unlock it (even if I try shutting screen off then turning it back on) for a minute or two. It drove me crazy.
I noticed when I get it though, if I turn the screen off then turn the streak into portait position and turn the screen back on, no sticky slider
Hope this helps you guys.
Just use MenuUnlock from market....works great

screen mode widget doesn't help either. I missed a call today because of the dumb sticky slider problem. What causes it anyway?

You can use Incoming Call Plus BETA. It's a great app, available from the market or XDA-devs.

It might be a screen calubration issue, i just calibrated my screen and will report bsck in a few days
You know, after moving from the iphone to Android I spent so much time playing with the lock screen, mainly because I could I guess. I installed Wigetlocker and had gotten my lock screen to the point where it was a regular work of art.
Then one day it dawned on me that if I wasn't using the lock screen for security (as in, with a code to unlock the phone), that there wasn't really a point in having one.
So, I installed "No Lock" from the Market, and I have never looked back. Now, when I hit the power button, the phone is just on. Works great, and I have experienced ZERO negative effects. The phone has never turned on in my pocket, and the screen lights up just fine when a call comes in. I don't miss my lock screen at all.
Sure, I still have to deal with a slider to answer a call, but that's a heck of a lot less often than every time I want to turn my device on to look at it.
Anyway, just a thought for those who might be tired of dealing with a sticky slider on the lock screen.

Do you know what?....
That was a bloody good call.
It wound me up having to unlock my screen EVERY time to look at it.
I've probably saved about 3 mins a day now or 1000 mins a year!
Im not experiencing this prob...maybe cause I got my dpi/ppi set to 200, just a thought

that would make sense, bigger slider=easier to slide. I'm guessing 160 is stock?

Quick question

Ok so I didn't see (when I searched) for a forum for the new Samsung Stratosphere. Seeing as how it's a Galaxy S phone I figured somebody new the answer. My co-worker just got this phone and every time she goes to make a call using the phone app the screen dims after maybe 2-3 seconds. The only thing that will wake it is either sliding out the manual keyboard or clicking the power button. As you might know, this makes it pretty difficult to use the keypad on the phone, for touch tones.
I've checked call settings and display settings and changed all of them to the most amount of time possible. Am I missing something?
I'd just have her take it back it sounds like a lemon

thats what I was afraid of. Thanks for the quick reply. Any stratosphere users out there? Is it worth keeping or should I recommend her a different one? I'm a power user who comes to XDA to flash my evo over and over. She is older and doesn't need 85% of the things a phone can do.

i9300 Screen Problem (Washed out) every 2-3 days

Hi there,
Has anyone else had this issue, this seems to happen every 2-3 days, when i wake my phone up the screen looks really bright (and washed out) the phone itself works perfectly while the screen is like this, i have tried changing the screen brightness/auto brightness/screen mode etc but it dosnt fix it, the only way is to reboot, at the moment i am on Omega V37 (ELLC) but this has been happening for approx 3 weeks now (on all different omega versions) i have tried a full wipe and load ELLC via PC odin, then install omega again but still this problem occurs, any ideas?

I have had this problem occasionally,I just mess with the brightness settings and it seems to sort itself out, feels like a glitch in the light sensor software that occurs occasionally, not a biggy for me

yeah I've had this also - completely random - I found that just locking and unlocking the phone generally resolves the issue

Thanks for your replies! Good to know im not the only one! I always run manual screen brightness, 100% during the day and about half at night, Weird thing is about 4 of my friends have the same phone and i dont think they have experienced this fault, but then i am the one who flashes alot of different roms etc, would be nice to know what causes this!
I have the same problem.
Sometimes after playing a game the screen gets also a pink shine over the screen.
Only a reboot fix it.

How often is yours doing it? Mine needs a reboot to correct, seems to do it every 2-3 days.
Solution or at least step one in the logic sequence is wipe phone and factory reset and test .
Step two is flash stock rom and test . In both cases with no added apps .

Sorry for the delayed update, I'm on vacation in Mexico . Well, the damn thing cannot be used anymore, the screen works intermitently, I managed to wipe the phone to no avail, so when I get home I`ll try to flash the stock ROM for Argentina and get it to service. BTW this is my second S3 maybe next time I'll get an iPhone. This s*cks!

well, how can you expect us to help? you obviously did something wrong, and it's impossible for us to tell exactly what it was. try doing it all over again.

Congrats, your post count went up by one. You know if you hit report it does the same thing, and with a lot less effort.
@OP I imagine you damaged something when you dissembled the phone, just to be sure make sure the connectors are seated properly and make sure you haven't missed anything, if you are sure of this you may need to try to find exactly what is damaged to replace it.
I kinda agree with this.

if someone's getting his post count up for no reason, it's you, because you didn't say anything useful, just repeated my advice.
read my second point to the end. I would also have to be logged in in the browser, which I'm not
if you have a problem with me - report me or send a pm, xda is not a place for drama

How did you go about replacing the flex cable? Mine does not work, but LCD and digitizer are fine and trying to figger out how to get a new one in there without killing the screen.

[Q] Fragile mico-usb port connection

I'm noticing that while charging my phone tilting the device / wiggling the cord compromises the connection and the "charging" state fluctuates back and forth. Has anyone else come across this problem despite seemingly typical usage and handling?
This has also started happening to me too quite recently. I'm using the stock charger which looks fine so I'm worried it might be the phone.

Umm..... what??
OP, if your USB port in the phone is going bad, the part is incredibly cheap and easy to replace. Try this: http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-samsung-galaxy-s4-sch-i545-charging-port-flex-cable-ribbon.html
