So i replaced my flex cable with the back and home buttons on it. I had to dissambled my s3 (motherboard, etc). When I put it back together and turned it on the screen is black. It makes the sounds like it turns on and I can swipe the screen and it makes the swipe sound... there is just no display... any ideas? I checked the screen plug on the main motherboard and it seeems to be plugged in snug. Please help!!!
well, how can you expect us to help? you obviously did something wrong, and it's impossible for us to tell exactly what it was. try doing it all over again.

Congrats, your post count went up by one. You know if you hit report it does the same thing, and with a lot less effort.
@OP I imagine you damaged something when you dissembled the phone, just to be sure make sure the connectors are seated properly and make sure you haven't missed anything, if you are sure of this you may need to try to find exactly what is damaged to replace it.
I kinda agree with this.

1. I was as helpful as you, you didn't say anything different.
2. You can't report from Tapatalk, and I'd he does it himself he won't do it again

if someone's getting his post count up for no reason, it's you, because you didn't say anything useful, just repeated my advice.
read my second point to the end. I would also have to be logged in in the browser, which I'm not
if you have a problem with me - report me or send a pm, xda is not a place for drama

hello,
Has anyone looked into finding the debug/jtag pins/port?
I have a 100% bricked vibrant here. Someone gave me. I want to start to look into it. Looking for some help.

Thanks!
What are those?
It's what you use to fix/base flash bricked phones.
How the hell did you get a 100% bricked vibrant I didnt think they existed.
Sgs
Doubt it is bricked. Maybe hardware dead, but not bricked.
Unless he tested something for you that you were not willing to test.

I had one as well, but it was my fault, I clicked "repartition" on Odin. I couldn't find a fix so I exchanged it within the 14 days.
They exist... I had one... Wouldn't power on at all..
No recovery
No download
No vibrant screen

Nice. Please do. Then we can finally settle what chip is running and if there is FM hardware or not. Hope you have a nice camera! I want HUGE and close pics
BTW, what you think the odds are the usb doubles as jtag? Briefly going through all the code, I could have sworn I saw stuff related to ttyS0, baud rates and all. Maybe just need the right pinout.

Would be interesting. Im going to take the pics as soon as i can. its weekend. prob monday or tuesday.
if you think it works as TTY. Its possible. I dont see any pins on the boards. Thats why i asked.
JTAG and serial console are different things. jtag won't show in the kernel, it is a physical set of pins for direct access to the cpu and/or flash.
The serial console might be available via usb (eg on the g1 it is, with a custom cable) but it is only helpful for kernel debugging - if a kernel is broken, but not too broken, you can get logs out of it while it starts up..
Ok. I made an attempt at taking the pics. This is my first time to do macro shots
If anyone can give me suggestions to make better. Let me know.

Indeed. But seeing the tty stuff in the kernel just made me think that if the usb can double as a serial port, it might also double (triple?) as an easy to reach jtag port. Then again, I dunno how many cables a jtag needs. iirc, microusb has 5.

Which would be used by a general user? I dont think so. Why the hell would they care the inside. LOL
These pictures were meant for hardware people. To give ideas.
I just received my GTab today, and I have noticed a ripple almost dead center in the screen, like when you press in on a LCD monitor... it happens when I move the tablet, or press on the screen. Note that this isnt a water drop applet or anything like that, it seems to be a hardware defect.
I searched around but didnt see anything pertaining to this issue, so I figured I would make a post. Is anyone familiar with this? Is this something every GTab does?
Thanks for the insight!
Anyone? Please just confirm if your gtab does this or not, I want to get an RMA in before the day ends!

Hello.
First off, I hate myself for doing this, because it is the wrong thing to do. But I have done the right things....
I was wondering if any of you would say that you have experienced such a bug or not:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106272
Also, the glow on the edges - it is messed up. it looks like the attached image.
Can anyone PLEASE confirm whether it is a software bug, or a hardware bug? I need to know so I can replace my handset if buggy.
Thank you.
Mo.
P.s. I am a developer myself, so you can talk to me
It is neither a software bug, nor a hardware bug. This is a classic example of an 'operator' bug. As I see you are a 'developer', you will undoubtedly be able to fix it, most probably by pushing back your backed-up files right? You did take back-ups didn't you?
PS I'm sure many folk are curious as to why you posted this question in the development thread. Oh! It must be because you are a developer.
Anyway, either push back your backups, or reflash the ROM.
Allgamer please move to Q&A section..

thanks for the reply.
I posted this in the Q&A but there was no answer (Given 100 or so views!), so I thought I need to post this in dev to see whether any of you had the same problem or not.
Well, yes I do have a backup. The question is why it happens sometime after the screen has been on, and not instantly? I mean at first and for the first -say 2hrs- the screen is fine, but afterwards this 'bug' appears.
Nothing gets rid of it, unless you reboot the phone.....
Thanks for the reply,
Mo.
If you can screen capture it, it's not a hardware bug.
p/s: I'm a "Validator"

Still not a reason to post it in dev.
And come on, this is a software bug... Surely it's patently obvious. If you fix your tweak, it should work fine.
My SGH-I777 devices was doing fine with CM10 nightlies running but it suddenly stopped working. I tried every possible solution like replacing battery, charger, volume down+power button but it's just not responding anymore. If I left it on charge it just heats up. So when I search about these scenarios the only information I get is phone is dead. I tried calling AT&T and of course it was out of warrenty for them. Samsung says send to us and will have a look at it with the hold on credit card for $70 until they rectify real issue.
So my question is what are the possible solutions if there are any? Is it worth to spend $70 and send phone to Samsung? What can be done with dead device is there any market for it? Any place in US who can look at it cheaper than Samsung? Or wait for Note 3 and recycle this phone?
Any suggestions will help. Thanks in advance!!
Ask these guys they know it all. Email them or call explain your situation go from there.

No luck tried that as well.. without battery also it won't power up
Hi everyone, hoping for some help.
My galaxy s2 wont power on at all.... I have tried plugging USB into the PC and pressing Vol Up but nothing - this happened after replacing the USB charge port. The power flex cable accidentally ripped off.
I plug it into my laptop and it starts installing the driver but then fails. Anyone experienced this before?
Detach battery, leave it in 5 minute and attach again , power on. I face this problem before(but the cause is not same to you ) and my phone power on after i do those steps. Hope your phone will work again.
Or you could wait for KeithHarris39 who knows what he's talking about with this stuff to read your thread (he's posted to Q&A in the last hour or two, so he's probably around somewhere) & he'll actually give you some idea of what might have gone wrong/what you can do about it.

something worth ur interest...
If you are describing the flex cable that is/was attached to the USB charger board.....then the 'inadvertent detachment' is likely the cause of your issues......
First, the damage that *has* taken place is likely to have caused a lack of charge reaching the battery....which is likely the reason the phone won't boot....dead battery and no way to charge it.
Second, it's likely the PC isn't installing the drivers as the damage caused is probably stopping the PC recognising the phone for what it is.....we all know PC's are dumb, if they're not told exactly how to do something, they just sit there scratching their metaphorical heads....lol
Repairing this part is *highly unlikely* to succeed........the only option....get another replacement.... the only saving grace......they're not that expensive......

Thought as much but only just got back on here. Thanks for your time. Already ordered the bits that all arrived today ( except I missed the bloody posty )
So I will let you know how my soldering skills hold up after years of being dormant! The phone is my old one and now belongs to the Mrs... wasn't too happy with me lol. So much so, and I'm sorry to say she switched to the dark side.. iPhone.
Now I think I'll see what ROMs are good for the s4... easy rooted it from day one but now I feel ready for a change. First android I've never completely changed
