Fascinate Won't Get into Clockwork Mod - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yo man, what up. Kinda new to all of "this". litterly just made an account. Anyways I got my Fascinate rooted, right, i got the superuser and rom manager and all that. Im still on stupid version 2.1 update 1.... It sucks. Non of my favorite apps work on it. Plus i can't get into Clockwork mod recovery to use a rom and update it either... Why?? I flashed it through rom manager. I also tried it through Odin but when i put the stupid pda file and press start, Odin says somethin like "Failed. Succeeded 0/ Failed 1" then i get a soft brick. But luckly i know how to fix that. What should be done, need you people to help me out.. I looked over the Internet on how to do it, but you know how it is. The ota doesnt update my phone... Kies mini doesn't update my phone (gives me something like "Can not update this device" ...ALL I want for Christmas, Santa, is to get a f*ckin update.. Anything other than 2.1 on Fascinate!

Because you did not mention it...
Have you spent the time reading through droidstyle's guide?

Plz help me ! My vibrant is bricked! I cannot reflashed! Plz Plz

I installed and used the FROYO ROM - VIBRANT JK2 , but it had some problems . After that I went to DOWNLOAD MODE and used ODIN to reflash the ROM 2.1 UVJFD STOCK ROM. Then my phone stopped working, when I turned on my phone, on the screen it appear some strange signals : a phone with (!) and a computer . I cannot go to RECOVERY MODE except DOWNLOAD MODE but ODIN doesn't work with the ROMs: 2.1 UVJDD, and 2.1 JE8 . Who can help me with my problems ? Plz help me! I'm so sad. My phone is bricked.
Thanks for your help.
great time to brush up on your reading skills. read the Vibrant Directory stickied above you. I'm sure it's fixable
Have you tried checking the VIBRANT DIRECTORY BIBLE which is stickied in this forum? That would be a good place to start rather than posting a non development question in the development forum.
There is a link titled *How to recover from a "soft brick" on your Vibrant and return to stock. (Phone ! PC error)...I would suggest checking it out.

wrong section of the forums.
and
did you get it figured out?
I found out how to do it in the Q&A section, I think. But anyways, I figured out that its pretty hard to brick a vibrant phone, but I wouldn't mess around with it.
Had this same prob, go into download mode (power on holding power and both vol buttons while powering on, after second flash of logo, let go power) Then download stock JFD rom for ODIN. (If odin doesnt see you phone, then unplug and replug while in download mode) Flash the JFD rom via ODIN and your back in biz.
He is obviously freaking out a bit, we have all been there, cut him some slack people jesus.
ITS THE WRONG FORUM is such an asshole move when people are freaking out.

All you need it do is open ODIN, get your phone in Download mode, Make sure you have the right files
PIT FILE-- s1_odin_20100512.pit
STOCK ZIP-- T959UVJFD
PDA FILE-- T959-PDA
and hit the START button
I bricked my phone up a few times and worked everytime.
Tried it on 2.2 & 2.1 update1 Both reflashed to Stock with no problem. Hope that helps.

How to receive Vibrant 2nd update

Hello,
I keep on trying to search, but search function is not working at this time, for how to receive the 2nd update for 2.1 for the Samsung Vibrant that we received in October. I had to recently flash my phone using Odin3 back to stock, but it was the very first launch stock. I am trying to find the second the update with the task manager and the gps fix. Sorry, but still am a noob at this. Any help is greatly appreciated
*Please note, I am running on Mac right now*
Google Samsung Kies. Oh and btw post in Q&A section next time.

So, update us. How did it go?
sorry been stuck because of finals this week. I still have it at 2.1 without the update.
I have been trying to use ODIN to flash to the JI6 file, but it does not read the modem.bin and goes to the factory.rfs and stays there forever.
I am not sure if I should load the PIT file i used to restore to factory settings, but I tried it with both.
ODIN with tar and Pit
and
ODIN with tar only
If using windows vista or windows 7. When you open odin, right click it and run as administrator instead of double clicking on it. If using windows xp, try unplugging all other usb connections while trying to flash.

If you are refering to the 2.1-update1 go to www.samfirmware.com - sign up. Download the one right after JFD and i believe it is the one you are looking for, using ODIN, flash the file after reverting to stock yet again. Hope this helped.

[Q] noob question regaurding clockwork rom manager/recovery

Hi I am new to this. I was trying to fully root my vibrant. I recently upgraded to 2.2 froyo using keis software. at the end of upgrade phone would not go past the "S" screen. i reboot and it worked.. Anyways now I am trying to root using instructions found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9375927 . I am at the part where it says At the top, click "Flash Clockwork Recovery" and after it has finished click to Reboot Into Recovery. However when I click reinstall packages it ends with RED letters saying somthing like E: full signature could not be verified. Am I doing somthing wrong or does it have to do with when i updated with keis. Any help would be appreciated.
Do this instead

Just to let you know, chances are the first time, when your phone appeared to be frozen on the "S" screen, you just weren't patient enough. After updating, or doing a factory reset, the phone appears stuck on the "S" sreen for a long time, but it's just doing its thing. Next time have more patience with it, give it a good 15 mins.
Also to get root and do a 3e recovery mod to allow for clockworkmod update.zip to work, you need to go and read this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925400
Thanks will do!

Can I make one more suggestion, I found those steps in the link to be confusing for a new user. Give it a try, but if you get confused, do what I did.
You already used kies mini, so you have the new second boot loader sbl.bin. Now to make things easier, and instead of rooting and modding 3e yourself. Just use odin to downgrade to JFD. Then root JFD using updaet.zip. Then add clockworkmod recovery to jfd. Next, go into the development section, and just get the already deodexed, rooted, and 3e recovery modded KA6 or Ka7 or Kb1 and install that using cwm, all the hard work is done for you, and the scary part of updating the sbl.bin was already done by kies mini. So you get the best of all worlds. But if that link I provided you is easy to follow, then just do that.
thanks again for ur 2nd advice.. I ended up usinf odin as you suggested and downgraded back to 2.1. Now it is fully rooted and I decided to install the axura 2.2.8 I love it!! and think I could easily become addicted to this forum

I am running on EA28 firmware. all the threads tell about DL09. any difference?
Not to be an ass or anything, but if you can't figure out how to root the phone, find a stickied thread, or what needs done to flash ROMs, than you should stay away from 2.2 until you can. Odds are, you'll end up flashing something you shouldn't and it will be harder to get back to a working phone. Read through the threads and stickies first and gain an understanding of how to accomplish whatever it is you want to do.

I was able to root while on EA28, but make sure you read the "Note to Stock Users" at the bottom of the first post on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913470
If you are new to rooting or new to rooting this phone, you really need to read the instructions carefully (no skimming!) a few times before starting. It took me about three hours to root and install DL30 the night I got my phone (including time I goofed things up).
Good luck!

You need to be descriptive! What are you trying to do?
Slow down!
I researched information and asked questions for a week before I did anything. And at that point i knew every step that I needed to do in detail...
In contrast you seem to be just jumping in...
For now, if you're phone don't work, search for the di01 all in 1 package and use odin to push it to your phone in PDA section.. Only use PDA SECTION..
Then write me back on here telling me exactly what you want. Then ill write you a step by step procedure to get you threre..

You're in the right place, but you really should heed the advice you've already been given and read what's available before you make a costly mistake...
I started with the same stock configuration as you. Thanks to several hard-working devs (adrynalyne; jt1134 and others willing to document steps for us noobs), I'm now running Froyo with all the functionality I've been after since I bought this thing... Honestly, it's like a new phone.
EVERY question and glitch along the way had already been addressed on these forums - it's all there for the searching.
Also, I gather that folks will more patiently assist you if you *do* get into a fix if it appears you're willing to first RTPFM (read the proverbial f#$%^&* manual .
best of luck with it.

[Q] Casual-says I need drivers, can't get past this step

Hi,
I'm trying to root and unlock using Casual. I'm getting stuck after the phone goes into download mode. It says I need drivers( I have downloaded them and installed from Samsung). When it takes me to the step to install drivers...the Samsung drivers aren't available in the menu...so I'm basically stuck and don't know how to move forward. Could someone help me. I'm sure it's something simple and I'm just overlooking it, but I'm frustrated. I tried to use Odin but I couldn't get get it to detect the right file under the PDA step...I have it on my computer but it won't find it...so either I'm really stupid or really tired. I could use help.
Thanks,
Jen

if you have a com port number in the left hand corner of odin then the device is recognized and the drivers are installed. You probably need to unzip the package and maker sure the file has the extension .tar or .tgz
I was able to figure it out. I was using the latest Casual version and it was setup for one-click. I had to pick the generic hub or something like that...can't quite remember which it was but I found it on the last couple pages of the thread, and it unroofed and unlocked. I'm running Beans 11 now...it took me the entire day to figure it out. It was definitely harder to root than the thunderbolt...
