[Q]How to find Ip Address app development - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am creating a mobile app that needs to connect to a secondary software on my pc via wifi. All the current version features works as they should but I am having serious problem trying to display the ip address of the pc for user ease of use.
I have been getting a particular code that only displays my ethernet ip address but its not in use only wifi and it seems that its quite difficult to get this to work as I am a beginner.
Any ideas, help or advice is greatly appreciated

How do i Access the internal Com Port

Hi, We are using the XDA-II as an engineers mobile job logger. We have a client server based app that calls a com port on the XDA. Presently we are making a bluetooth serial connection to a mobile phone and then using the virtual comport on the software. What we would really like to do is access the internal phone on the XDA as a virtual comport instead of having to use two devices. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

How to connect ad-hoc wireless?

Hi all
I want to know how tk connect ad-hoc wireleas its really needed??
Thanks.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It really depends on what you want to connect to with the AD-HOC wireless connection the HD2 uses as some electronic devices do not support AD-HOC like most Sony products for example. But there is a work around. So please post back here with what you are trying to connect to.
I have internet sharing to other so i want to connect the shared internet but the shared wireless does not shown in wireless.

Sorry for the late reply but I think you are looking for WiFi Router for Windows Mobile. There is also a paid WiFi Router app in the Market call WMRouter if I remember correctly. But I use to use the free one all the time and loved it.
I dont think u get my question.
I want to connect the ad-hoc wireless ,when u share internet from ur pc the type of connection is ad-hoc some device cant read this wireless or find it,so the point is by which way i can connect from my hd2 to those type of wireless?
Thank u very much.

Ok I think I might understand you question now, and yes I know what AD-HOC is. To put it simply it is a computer to computer connection. Anyway if you are talking about using the AD-HOC connection to put your HD2 online via your computers internet connection then you will have to use a WiFi router and access your home internet connection via Wifi. I don't think you can connect your HD2 any other way to non cellular network, at least that I know of.
Ok
so its microsoft .
thank u very much .
Hi there,
I have encountered some strange problem with my HD2.
I cannot make ad-hoc connections with most laptops, except for maybe one.
This means, I cannot connect to an ad-hoc connection set up on a laptop, nor can I turn my HD2 into a wi-fi router with most computers.
The connection is detected but after trying to connect, it just cycles and eventually windows (tried xp, vista and 7) notices that it cannot connect.
I have read that it may be the case of:
1. IP mapping (but why should this happen if all these laptops did connect with my previous i8000?)
2. WLAN Channels (Whereas I found no way to access/change them on wm6.5)
It's a new HD2 so it's got the pre-installed sharing feature. I also used the wmwifi router trial and downoladed the htc installable router app (tom codon's).
I've searched the forums for 3h allready and found no conclusion - will be really greatful for some hints.
Thanks.

[Q] Wifi Network Disabled

I am staying in a hotel abroad and have purchased some logon details for the hotel's wireless internet for my stay. However, whilst I can connect with my laptop, my S3 lists the network as 'disabled'. Wifi is on, and not set to sleep or anything like that. When I click on the network, it (very) briefly says 'saved' and then returns to 'disabled'. I have not even had the chance to enter my logon credentials, so that cannot be the problem. I have also tried to 'forget' the network and re-connect, but there is still no option to enter my credentials and connect on my S3.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Try changing your phone's mac address to your laptop's mac address.
Most services use this to authenticate devices.

How can I do this? Thanks
Sorry to bump this, but does anyone have any idea or solutions to solve this 'wifi network disabled' problem? It works on my PC, but not on my S3.
Thanks
Sorry for the delayed reply

If that doesn't work you could ask them for a new code and see if that will work with your phone. Or ask to see their network support staff (if the network is managed in-house).

Try kies Wi-Fi.

Even kies wifi needs a home network..

you can start up a hotspot on the phone and use SWIFTP to host an ftp server off the phone
Use the phone's Wifi Tethering option or the freeware "Connecitfy" on the computer to create a Wifi network and then use an app like SAMBA Fileshare to transfer the files.
Afaik Wifi Direct is a software-only protocol which uses sort of apoint-to-point Adhoc network so there is no reason why computers should not be able to use it, at least no technical. You'd need the corresponding tools / drivers though and to my knowledge none such exist.
I have always found es file explorer to work extremely well. You do need to spend a little time to become familiar with interface but really is great for moving files etc. I use it to over files on/from/to my htpc if the wife is watching her junk. Just make sure you have a static ip on your pc to allow for auto login when you open app rather than scanning and login in every time
ist about that you are awesome because tou are imaginary or exist in another world
Hi
Both Intel (My WiFi Dashboard) and Qualcomm-Atheros (Direct Connection) have a client that is supposed to be "WiFi direct" certified and should allow for Direct Peer-Peer connection between the Phone and PC without the need for an access point or other routing device.
I have been unable to get either to work with my SGH-i927 Captivate Glide !

The only place I could find the Atheros client was on OEM sites like this for Dell(Sony and HP also have it)

[q] dns, fqdn in workgroup environment via wifi

Hi there,
I have some problems with dns:
In a workgroup I can not access any device using dns name except my router easy.box. It is a WLAN Router i got from my provider.
I already read about using fqdn.
Then I tried to configure a windows device with primary dns suffix. After that it shows a full name devicename.local
But I can't resolve the name devicename.local With netping
Easy.box ist resolved to the lan ip
I remember that it works on HTC desire hd running android revolution Rom without any fqdn with just the Hostname.
So please give me some advice how to set up the android device or the environment.
