I rooted last night and installed rainbowmod, after doing so I just had to talk to a Microsoft agent to get an activation code for windows live.. I do not know if that is a byproduct of rooting, or the mod.. but all the same im logged in and running on my phone now.
I've just logged normally using my Windows Live ID. It didn't request the activation code.

Friends, I am really new to developing for windows phone platform and i want to flash my Lumia 710 to the latest tango update using Nokia Care Suite. I am in India and the update will hit the market by the end of this month but since I am using a US based windows live id (enables many Zune features not available in India currently) so I have set my system language and region to English US (both on my phone and my laptop). I am looking for a step by step process of learning how to flash custom roms to my phone without destroying everything.
P.S. -- I have used a HTC desire HD and installed custom ROM's through this forum.

Check your HW revision number in About
If its 2.4 its a locked phone cannot flash this rom, since this is custom ROM.
The is no leak of 7.8 for Lumia 800. Only exist is firmware based on 7.8 for Lumia 710. You can use it on any Lumia 800 with unlocked bootloader and you can unclok every Lumia 800 using ATF Box (Advence Turbo Flasher)

I just purchased the lumia 800 which is already upgraded to 7.8. I was just wondering how to transfer xap files to my device. I Google'd quite some bit and it's all the older versions of windows phone and it's about using the chevron unlocker.

Edit: Got this to work, just used the application deployment tool and install a xap. Sadly, it only lets you deploy 10 xaps.
Hi! I have a Nokia Lumia 800 and I want to unlock it but I still have some questions, I think they are stupid but I am not able to find them on the Interner. I have already checked and I have a Qualcomm bootloader, so I should be able to full unlock my phone, and I was thinking on installing Raimbow Mod or something like that, but I have read that if you flash your Lumia 800 using NSS your Windows Live ID will get flashed too and you won´t be able to use it. Is that true? How can I prevent or fix that problem? Thank you very much!

About Windows live ID, I'm NOT sure. But one thing I am sure is that
if you will flash your to official rom, then you will loose QUALCOMM boot-loader,
and therefore, you will NOT be able to install ANY custom/modded rom on your
phone

Yep you cant use live id but is easy to solve that .
Just ask for activation code to microsoft and they will send you .

Greetings, 'lucky' new wp 7.8 user here.
BUT
as far as i know Bluetooth Share and Ringtone maker should have gotten support with the 7.8 update.
My problem is, if i go to those apps in the marketplace by a QR code, tells me 'it's not available for your phone'
The only weird thing i noticed is the app names on the market are translated to hungarian (i use the phone in Hungary), can the problem be related to the translation? Is there a way to install these two apps on a locked device (nokia dload)?

When I installed 7.8 on my lumia 800 using Navifirm and Nokia Care Suit, Bluetooth Share and Ringtone Maker got installed by default. I didn`t had to install them separately.

could you tell me wich firmware was this exactly? i had the german by default (got the device from germany) then i installed the hungarian.

Hi Guys, I just updated my Nokia Lumia 800 from wp 7.5 to 7.8 by using Nokia Care suite, after done it, I couldn't see any additional feature such as bluetooth share or ringtone maker.
So anyone can help me why ? or is the updater version different for each region ?

Install firmware region Germany ...(preinstaled Bluetooth Share). An set region in phone Germany. For my lumia 610 is ok. (Ringtone maker is not disponible).
