Hi all
App voice commands do not seem to be working on my phone.
When I install an app that supports voice commands the commands do not work. When I say "What can I say?" and swipe over to the apps pane it says I don't have any apps installed that support voice commands.
Is there a setting to switch this on somewhere?
Has anybody else observed this behaviour. I have restarted the phone but with no effect.
I am running a white Nokia Lumia 920 on the EE network in the UK.
God bless

I just tried out the voice commands for Groupon and Toggle. Both are working. Attempted 3 different commands for Toggle. Groupon only has one command to work with. :-/ All worked.

Hi jeromel
Which variant of the Nokia Lumia 920 are you using? I.e., which country and carrier is it on and have you changed the ROM at all?
Thanks and God bless

Can one have both Voice Command and Voice Dialer installed on their phone at the same time? i.e. If I cook a ROM and include both is that going to cause problems on the phone? Will both work?
Chimp (Tom)
it should if you put Voice Command on it. It think has a dialer.
It should cause a problem? Or it should work if both are on??
Voice Command will do both. I've been running it for a little over a year now. Just say "Call -------" or "Dial #########". Works great!

I'm not sure if you'll have a problem having both on your phone but my question is...why do you need both?
Does Voice Dialer do something that Voice Command can't?
Voice Command is a cool program, I used it regularly on my 6700 before official BT support and hacks were required to get a headset and Voice Command to work together.
However, do you mind the amount of memory Voice Command uses? If the 6800 had more memory I would probably use Voice Command over Voice Dialer.
Why would you want to install both? Voice Command does everything Voice Dialer does and more.
Anybody else having this issue? I'm getting an app crash when trying to switch carriers for voice mail from AT&T's to Google's. It was working perfectly fine with my S II.

On my Sprint SGS3, I wasn't able to set Google Voice as my voicemail on the phone itself. However, I went through the process as far as I could (within the Google Voice app), and then logged on to Google.com/Voice > Settings > click on "Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone". After that, re-enable Google Voicemail and you should be good to go.
Soon after that, the settings on the phone were greyed out and voicemails came in as expected.
Sorry if this isn't so clear! Time for bed and my brain isn't firing on all cylinders. Good luck.
It's not working for me either. Seems there's issues on Sprint and T-Mo too with the SGSIII and Google Voice. I hate using stock voicemail. Hope the next Google Voice update cures this.

while we're here, when someone leaves me a voicemail, it goes to my old phone that has the google voice app (it's still connected to wifi). it doesn't show up on my new phone though.
do i have to do something with my old phone to make it stop? or do i change some other settings?

bump?
i couldn't get this to work. the post wasn't very clear. did you go to google.com/voice on your phone or via website? i did via phone and don't see anywhere to "Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone". didn't see it via computer, either.
edit: so i found this via browser on my computer finally. reactivated and still no dice
I was only able to switch my VoiceMail provider from AT&T to GoogleVoice by using the dialcode listed @ voice.google.com (*004*<insertyourGVnumberhere>#), and it works, even though Dialer app settings still shows "My carrier" instead of "Google Voice" as the provider, and attempting to change it in the Dialer still says "Forwarding number change failed".
My problem now is that I can't for the life of me figure out where to change the timeout before it forwards to VoiceMail. I test-called from another phone and it rings for at least 60 seconds(!) before forwarding to GoogleVoice, instead of the 15 or so it used to be. Where do you change this, or can you?
Me too - luckily I saved the activate/deactivate google voice in my contacts list so was able to change the forwarding ok. Not sure if there's anyone at google that takes feedback on these kind of issues or not - but I haven't seen many things responded to on their feedback forums (like DST / calendar sync issues for the last few years with no fixes). Get what you pay for I guess.
It's been driving me crazy, I know voice recognition works because when I say hi galaxy it activates but it doesn't matter what I ask it I always get the same promt telling me if I want to activate s voice say 'hi galaxy'. Can't set an alarm, can't disable or enable wifi, can't do anything with it, all that pops up is that damn promt lol. Could it be region locked? I currently live in the middle east if that's of any relevance.

Sorry for the double post but a slight update, it seems to work fine on 3G just not on my WiFi network. Any ideas guys as to what could cause this?
Anybody have the T-Mobile (USA) Visual Voicemail working on the Mate 10? Mine just tries to set itself up for a few minutes, then says "We are experiencing some issues with activation. We will retry in a few minutes."
Sorry, I can't help you but I have a problem with MetroPCS visual voicemail and Mate 10 as well. Mine does activate but I loose my data connectivity. I unistall the app and connectivity is restored.
same problem mate 10 pro

I also called T-Mobile tech support and posted on the T-Mobile forums. I got feedback but never solved the problem. Very happy with Google Voice as a substitute though. Caller ID lookup and vmail-to-text transcription is included free.

WHAT!!!!! NICE....thanks alot:good::good::good:
I discovered how to activate T-Mobile visual voicemail on a Mate 10 (non-pro). I read it on a T-mobile forum so I cannot take credit. I will say this first - even though I can get it to install, and activate, it appears to be causing my phone to not have data/internet access, unless I toggle mobile-data. Then it will continue to work until I reboot the phone at which time my data access/internet access stops. I have all 4G/LTE/ APN's setup correctly so I am not sure why this happens. I have since uninstalled the T-Mobile version of visual voicemail and the problem is resolved. GO figure!
Now here is what you need to do to get it activated in the first place. If you have the app already installed I recommend that you uninstall it before we start. After you have it uninstalled go to settings > wireless & networks > call settings > (under SIM 1 which is the only one I use) tap on additional settings > voicemail > toggle OFF visual voicemail. Now you can install T-Mobile visual voicemail and follow the prompts to allow access to contacts, etc., etc, and it should activate without issue.
Now if anyone can get it to continue working after a reboot without having to toggle mobile data then please let me know.
Also...does anyone know what the default, built in visual voicemail even does on EMUI 8.0, or how to access some app for it to work? Seems useless to me other than to block the T-Mobile app from activating.

Sounds like you are having the same issue as the guy in post #2.
I am very happy with using Google Voice instead of visual voicemail. Wouldn't go back even if I could get it working. In addition to everything VVM does, you also get free voice-to-text on voicemail messages, as well as automatic caller ID lookup.
Hi good people of XDA, Iam facing a serious issue in the Contacts app of my new Google Pixel 6.
When I call somebody and they answer their phone, the call shows as "Private number" in the Recents tab.
If they do not answer, then the contact name is shown normally, as it should.
Take a look at the screenshot here: https://postimg.cc/jL1yT1NX
All items shown as "Private" are calls that I made and they answered.
I've searched online, but i didn't find anything related to this issue. Am i he only one who is facing it?
Any insights could help a lot.

Looks like your carrier is blocking caller ID on outgoing calls or you somehow enabled it on your own. I know with Verizon I can block my number on all calls or on a case by case basis.

Hi bobby, thanks for the reply.
Caller ID is not blocked. The person that receives the call is seeing my number.

Oh I get it now. That's an odd one, I can't seem to find a setting where that would change things.
Maybe an app you have is messing things up. Have you tried making a call while in safe mode?

Explain safe mode please.
When you are on the the Emergency, Lockdown, Power Off... Etc screen, long press on Power Off. It will give you an option to reboot into Safe Mode.
Safe mode disables all of the apps you installed so you can see if it's an app causing the issue.
Just reboot again to get out of safe mode.
Go to settings > apps > all apps, tap on the 3 dots (upper right) and 'Show system' apps. Then try clearing cache and data for:
- dialer (phone app)
- phone storage
- contacts app
- contacts storage
Then reboot.
Not sure if that will help, but does not do any harm, it will resync all your contacs.
Hi all,
Thank you for your replies. I tried both suggestions.
I rebooted in safe mode and tried calling my wife.
The problem persisted.
I tried clearing data and cache for the apps suggested and rebooting the phone.
The problem persisted.
The strange thing while I am calling the phone of the contact is shown in the dialer. As soon as the person I am calling answers the phone their name is replaced and the dialer app shows "Private number" instead.
I am really confused!

Post it on Reddit r/GooglePixel sub. This can't be unique. I'm thinking carrier related but just a shot in the dark at this point.

I'm intrigued. Which carrier? Do you have wifi calling you can try out?
Maybe something in permissions manager?
Hello! We have the same problem. On my wife's phone (Pixel 6), the phone writes private number for outgoing calls. There is no problem with incoming calls. Like Gonik, I tried everything, but nothing helped.
We live in Hungary and our mobile service provider is Telekom.
Carrier: Cablenet
Wifi calling: not supported
My next step is to try a sim card from a different carrier.

I am relieved that I am not alone! At the same time, I am sorry your wife is going through the same problem.
Hopefully Google will acknowledge it soon.

Yes, it would be nice to fix it because the error is pretty frustrating. And on top of that, she got the phone from me as a gift.
Omg, I am not alone. So I bought unlocked phone in USA, and I am using it in Serbia (Europe) on mts network. ChrYslerHUN is in neighboring Hungary, so it could be related to usa/europe differences and European carriers.
But still, I have never seen anything like that, and it is quite frustrating. What does outgoing calls have to do with carriers. Your phone. should know which numbers you dialed, right.

I'm having the exact same issue. Not only me, my wife also has a Pixel 6 and is experiencing the same problem. I've searched in Google but only found a couple of posts in Reddit and this one. Has anyone found a solution for this? It's kind of annoying. I'm from Spain.
Happy New Year to Everyone!
In the meantime, I installed another dialer application that can also record calls, so the problem is partially resolved, as it shows the called party properly during recordings. Regardless, it would even be nice to have an official fix for the bug.
The dialer application name is: ACR Phone
ACR Phone - Apps on Google Play
Privacy respecting phone dialer app with SIP and call recording support
