I've just followed these instructions to the letter http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-ap...ck-android-rom-on-samsung-galaxy-s2-50007880/
And am stuck on the SGS2 boot image
I've used ODIN fine before and flashed many ROMs, but this just isn't working for me.
Can anyone see if there's anything wrong in those instructions.
My phone was previously on CM10 ROM.
Thanks
Can you enter download mode? If so, try to reflashing the rom.
Don't panic, your phone is not dead.

where are you downloading stock rom from ? download your region's stock rom (I would prefer Gingerbread) , then update via OTA to get the latest update for your region available
If you have any questions , just kindly me know

Thankyou! I forgot to wipe data. I presumed a fresh flash of a stock ROM via ODIN would automatically do that.
Sorted now.

Right so here is my thing acouple of days ago i tried to go from a rom based on XLPH to one Based on XLPQ. I did the four wipes however on startup it would go into Kernel Panic Mode. I could not access cwm but could get into dl mode so i flashed cf root XLPH and managed to get back to the original rom i started from. It seems that any XLPQ based rom results in the same outcome of Kernel Panic Mode even siyah.Ive tried to go back to stock to start again but the same thing keeps happening. However as a last resort i flashed an original ota based samsung Build i don't now get the Kernel Panic Mode message but a blank screen and it shuts down I've managed to get into dl mode and get back to my original rom any advice.

unfortunately.. i having same problem..tired of this..please someone help..
i think it maybe hardware i hope not
Been a few people on my forum with the same problem but I seemed to avoid it.
First I made a nandrord backup and passed it to my PC.Then formatted my internalSD(have all important stuff on external anyway)then passed it back to internalSD again with the new ROM.Formated the phone-System,Data,cache in Mounts and Storage and flashed the official ICS from SamMobile.Rooted booted to recovery and then flashed the ROM on a clean device. After that flashed the CF-PROPER kernel cos the CF-Root kernel has the apps to SD and Titanium restore problems. So far all running smooth.
thanks will try that how do i get a nandroid back up to my pc
guys can i install this new XXLPQ ics update manually??...i heard its for the european phones...im in Malaysia...hope it wont effect my carrier phone calls, sms ad 3G network ~~
how did you reformat through cwm and how did you flash the official ics from sammmobile just glad im not the only one with this problem thought it was my fault.

sorry should have put it better i just want to know whether her reformatted in cwm or any other way ie kies.
CWM only .

Sorry had to go to bed.It was late in the morning here.
1.have your nandroid and custom ROM on the internalSD.The wont be touched by a format.
2.Boot to recovery and go to Mounts and Storage and format System,Data;Cache
3.Go back and wipe battery stats.Go back and do a Factory reset.
4.Reboot your device.
It wont boot properly cos you have formatted the system so pull the battery, put it back in and boot into download mode. Now flash via Odin the Official LPQ firmware that you can download from SamMobile and root with chainfires CF kernel. Now flash your custom ROM.
Tryed find a full "odin-version" of a XLPQ, including bootloader?
it MUST include XLPQ bootloader for this to work.
I had Kernel panic when I needed go from Omega V4 to v5.
Odin image with same kernel as needed, root it,
then try install youre new rom.
Good luck man
Thanx guys will try later maybe the idea of messing with the bootloader scares me im gonna try cooza method first.

in the end i flashed the main stock lpq as pda and also the kernal and modem in odin and it worked.

Hello. I had a custom rom in my s3, I tried to flash to recovery mode but now when I think again I may not have had clocworkmod installed. Or is it a part of a custom rom automatically? Anyway my s3 didn't go to recovery mode and after that it wouldn't boot at all. I could get it to download mode so I flashed the stock firmware with odin but that didn't help. It still won't boot and only thing I can do is to get it to download mode. When I try to start my phone, the samsung logo appears as well as the startup-tune there is the blue notification light too, but that's all I can get.
So is there anything to fix my phone?
Alright, if you know how to properly use Odin, then follow these instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238&highlight=pit
If you are even 1% unsure of what you are doing with Odin, then follow this great guide as well
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671969
what's happened to you also happened to me because I didn't have CWM installed. The ROM you're going to flash in the first link that I gave you comes CWM but I believe that it is an older version, so you're going to have to get into the Play Store and download the latest version once you install this.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi all.
I think i have killed my Galaxy S3 i9300!!!
I rooted it and installed the Paranoid Android rom, but then decided to go back to stock rom as I couldn't access the play store.
Now here's the problem... I wiped dalvic cache and did a factory reset, but stupidly wiped the system at the same time.
There is no operating system on the phone at all now and my pc greys out the device when I plug it in.
Odin did recognize the phone, but I couldn't flash a rom to it as it kept getting stuck at 'nand write start' in all versions of odin.
When I try to start in recovery mode (volume up, power and home) I get the green android instead.
I read that it's game over if you can't enter recovery mode.
Have I killed my s3? :crying:
Possible you have damaged the NAND .
wiped the system at the same time>> then you just flash a stock rom via ODIN .
What phone have you what stock did you flash .
You have already posted this why start yet another thread ??

Sorry for the double post, I thought that the first one may have been in the wrong place, it won't happen again.
I never got to flash any stock roms at all because i'm new to all this and I assumed that doing a factory reset was going
to put me back on the stock rom automatically.
That's when I made the mistake of doing the advanced wipe and ticking the system box.
Excuse my ignorance... but is it possible to fix this even if I don't have recovery mode?
Thank you for your help.

Use Kies intilisation or whatever to chose your device and serial.
If that wont work flash recovery and then use recovery to flash a stock based rom.
Hi!
I wake up today and find my phone freeze in the start logo! I tried to restart it but it was the same.
http : // im67 . gulfup . com / IiIc2R . jpg
After I tried everything I decide to format the phone with "wipe date/factory reset" but there was a problem!
And this is what I got>>
http : // im67 . gulfup . com / GSmiOr . jpg
I tried to do something using Kies porgram. But it said it is not supported.
Any thought?
Firstly, check the FAQ thread. You'll find information on flashig a custom recovery, after which you can flash a custom ROM. Kies won't help you as it'll only update your phone, which it can't, since there aren't any updates, and apparently it won't even recognize your phone.
Try flashing a custom recovery/root with Odin, then flash a custom ROM via recovery mode. All of this can be found in the FAQ which I have linked to. You may not want a rooted phone, but it's a lot easier to work with.
And if you really mind having a rooted phone, for warranty issues or otherwise, you could also unroot, flash a stock ROM, and reset your flash counter, so it'll all be as it was when you bought your phone. Again, all this is in the FAQ thread.

Even so I don't have so much knowledge with most of that stuff I tried to flash my phone according to the link you give me.
I download 5 or 6 firmwares and try to flash it with Odin but all I got was failed failed failed.

So I just installed the 0.2.3 cm 12 beta rom on and since I was giving my galaxy light to a friend I decided to do a factory reset so when I did that the phone rebooted and now its stuck at the twrp recovery splashscreen. I've already tried rebooting and re-flashing twrp but no luck. Could it be a cache problem or something? Thanks to all in advance who reply.

Im guessing you wiped device and if you go into recovery and try to reboot system it will tell you no os installed if that is the case you can plug device into computer and still use twrp as file manager thats if you had a backup stored on desktop or drag a CM zip to device .
other method of course would be to enter download mode and use odin to flash stock firmware for your device not sure if you have t399 or the N varient lastest beening OH2/OH3 you can find that in my filehost i have stock odin zips to flash.

I used the download from this guide by ShabbyPenguin: http://androidforums.com/threads/guide-restore-your-galaxy-light-to-stock-mja.846767/
Hey guys...I did the same thing but my t399 must have lost battery charge because when I picked it back up, it was dead...I plugged in and it started flashing the Samsung screen slowly at me. It would not reboot. I did get download and twrp to show up and start to atleast work enough to flash and Odin again...I used Shabby's kernel source and it is still doing the same thing after flashing through Odin. Still stuck on Samsung screen slowly flashing and recovery shows no operating system. I'm about to put it back in a drawer but I feel it's so close that I had to ask for help. I flashed shabby work to root and recovery. I flashed twrp 2.7 and the cm12 beta rom. Then back to shabby guide to get it to recognize, it did..kind of..but still boot looped. Flashed 3 times... No changes. Can anyone help or is it time for a staircase? hA!
Oh yes .. I don't think the battery is bad.. I checked it with a meter and it reads voltage. It does get pretty hot while I'm working on it though and my pc shows its charged at 100% but the phone doesn't show that...it stays in like dead mode. Nit recognizing again. Anybody have suggestions? In recovery it also indicated it can not locate most of my files in read after I flash.. what am I doing wrong.
sgh-399n bootloop
It's taken me 2 months to cry for help. I'm not a complete noobie, but I'm completely exhausted. First of all, one morning I woke up and I thought that somehow my battery was dead. It wasn't. Eventually, I found it in a bootloop. This phone was working fine, running a "Tiger_Lilly" ROM the night before. I've tried everything using Odin, adb and fastboot (I'm not sure how to get the phone in fastboot mode and also, before using Odin, TWRP wouldn't mount/data.) I'm stumped. Would appreciate some help, thank you.

also list your method and link rom your trying. just wondering if its the lastest version for device. while in odin also make sure Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time is only selected and what version of odin are you using?
If your unable to flash any rom thru odin then there must be a major problem else where until we can narrow it down no one can assist you.
