What do you want to do? This option does not exist in any version of jellybean.

Bro copying stuff to phone sd or external sd is ALOT faster using mass storage mode than MTP mode.
Like im trying to copy in my game data files now, and its saying 3hrs 15mins now. If you understand...

Did you just get the SGS3? I thought you just upgraded to JB, my mistake.
Mass storage mode was NEVER available on this phone. Samsung has opted for MTP. There are tricks around it if you're root, check out the easy ums app.

Hi, for those who lack mass storage mount after flashing beta ics and fixes. I got a way to enable it.
Just install 2 apps from market :
1. Usb switcher -> to change usb mode, advanced users just edit built.props i know. But others might use the app. Dont forget to set on mass storage mode
2. Multi mount sd lite -> this allows mount and unmount of card after 5 sec delay..
Now my only minor drawbacks on ics beta are slightly weak battery life and graphic problem with some hd games. If someone has a fix for these, while waiting for final version please share..
Hope it will be useful. (would like to know if im the only one with the mass storage problem)
Have fun with beta ics... ;-)

hmmmm....no bugs with this apps dude? i also had problems with battery regarding the ICS beta rom.. but i used cpu tuner and used extreme powersave mode on screen off...that way i had nice deep sleep....
i too had problem with usb mount..maybe because it is still in beta release..1 month to go and a full rom may be published by SE..so heads up
yes of course the problems are because it is a beta, but as i installed it and needed a way to transfer and retrieve files to the phone, these apps were the only solution found as even usb mount in recovery wasnt working.
And to answer your question, the 2 apps work fine, easy mounting of mass storage, transfer of file.. etc all good. ;-)
hi guys..i almost laugh about what happened just now..anyway..i found now how to solve this problem....in the first place there was no problem....
go to Settings --> Xperia --> Connectivity --> then choose MSC..that is all...
it worked for me!!!

Didn't you found this option before?
I thought it just wasn't working on your Neo, lol
Thanks but for me the option works for me but does not mount the sd card. Multi mount sd lite is still needed to do the mount and unmount the sd-card.

I have flashed both AOKP and Nightly ICS ROM and both of them, I can't access my external SD card, only internal SD card.
I went from stock 2.3.4, flashed zerg rush kernel or w/e to get CMW so that I can flash the ICS roms, and when I got it, everything works fine except for the external card and its really annoying me. Any help would be nice.
Did you look in the right place? AOKP external is located /mnt/emmc

PG, which build of AOKP are you on? The latest builds default on USB Storage. I can't figure out how to turn on MTP in b30 or b31.

Thank you for replying. Have you been doing full wipes between builds? Or just dalvik/cache?
I did a full wipe for b31 and upon booting up and connecting to my comp it came up with the USB Mass Storage page. Thinking maybe I need to go back a few revisions and then flash w/o data wipe until current?
I don't fully wipe unless I am changing major versions. Or if I need to troubleshoot something

Hmmm, well that was a no-go for me. Went back to 4-2 and flashed incrementally - 4-3, 4-4, 4-7, 4-8, b31. 4-3 had the different wallpapers and MTP/Camera option menu option under "Storage," which changes in the 4-7 build to stock wallpapers, USB Storage, and no menu option under "Storage."
Also tried going from 4-3 straight to b31, same result. Not sure what I am doing differently that is removing the "Storage" menu. avidmovies pointed me to a UMS apk which does the job... just the visual annoyance of two USB icons when on computer.

yeah it only shows up the internal SD card on my computer, not the external. and anyone know where i can get the "different wallpapers" from 4-3, i really like one of them.
can you link me to the UMS APK? thanks. i found "USB Mass storage watcher OTG" in the market but its just force closes.
P.S. my two SD cards were working fine on 4-7 so idk what happened.

Should be in the first part of the faq post. End up with 2 USB icons, but it works for me until it gets fixed. I pulled apart the trebuchet and framework apks looking for the wallpapers, no luck. Not sure where else to look.
Mine only flashes one box when hooked up to windoze7 but when you click on "open device to view files", both cards show up.
Since upgrading to 4.2.1 either CM or Helly bean i cannot copy files to my pc. USB just charges the phone. no mount notification.
Developer options are on. Android debugging and usb debugging notify are also on.
Thanks
If you're using Devil Kernel/Helly Bean, try rebooting into recovery and going to DEVIL>Usb Mode>USB Mass Storage.

Can you access files on the sdcard using ES file explorer?

I'm just flashed back to 4.1 and same thing. Tried different cables too.

Hi, I'm on the standard HTC software, so no rooting, no custom ROMs, etc.
In the most recent update (a few weeks ago), the device was taken from (I think) Android 4.0.4 to 4.1.2, so from ICS to JB. However, in doing that, the ability to access the SD card via USB mass-storage seems to have vanished and has been replaced with MTP. This means that I can no longer access the filesystem on the SD card via USB, which I do with Picasa, DoubleTwist, as well as the audio system in my car.
HTC tell me to install the (rather useless and bloated) HTC Sync Manager, but this doesn't give me what I need. They say there is no way to go BACK to the previous version of the OS.
So, my wise friends, I'm asking if anyone has any idea as to how to solve this problem and again get back to being able to see the SD card as a USB mass-storage device.
Many thanks for your help.

Possibly that can work, but it's not going to help me in the car! I need the SD card filesystem to be visible, as it was before.
The thing is, that HTC removed UMS completely on JB in favor of MTP. MTP allows you to connect your device to a PC without the need to unmount before removing as it uses push / pull commands directly. So if your device in the car supports MTP, you are good to go. Otherwise, you can try to connect it via 3,5 mm audio clinch cable if your car radio has an auxialiary port for that.
well, theoretically you CAN go back to ICS, but you have to unlock your bootloader (might be a problem when it comes to warranty), flash a custom-recovery (for jellybean hboot 1.25) and flash a custom- or stock-rom based on ics.
i recommend ckpv5's myONEdx RC4.0 FX+, imho its the best and most bug-free ics custom-rom.
Airdroid. Search it on google play.
I never used usb mount storage anymore to access and manage my sd card until i found airdroid

Hi guys, my Galaxy s2 LCD is broken and I have no access to my device. As I want to give it to a friend to change the LCD, just wanted to see is there anyway I can format my device? The LCD is completely blue when I turn it on which means I have NO access to my phone at all, its just a weird blue screen and thats it.
I Just have some important pics in Internal storage (sd card) and really want to remove them (Already taken out simcard and my 16 GB memory) I tried to connect my phone (while it's on) to my laptop but It doesn't work because you know, you have to scroll down the notification bar and select MTP or the other options (except charging) I'm running Android 7.1.2 btw which doesn't matter in this case lol
Can I do it with Odin?
Thanks in advance

There is a solution, try pressing the three buttons (vol up+home+power) for a short period and then leave it so you can boot into recovery, after that connect to PC and you will see your phone and have access to it, MTP is enabled by default in TWRP recovery

Wow... Just wow!!!! You are a genius, THANK YOU :good::fingers-crossed:
Just a quick question, as I have access to my files, I was just wondering if there is anyway I can recover some deleted files before formatting it, is it possible? Because programs like Recovery my file or EASEUS Data recovery wizard can't seem to find my device cuz they don't detect it as a separate partition. Man this is just too complicated....
