[Q] Help with Google Wallet on rooted SGS3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I would like to use Google Wallet locally, and I have access to US based CC's, however, upon installation my SGS told me that "Unfortunately google wallet isn't yet available for your phone" or something, when in the US it works just fine on SGS3's... I call that location discrimination!
So anyways, I read somewhere on xda that I need to root my phone in order to be able to use Google wallet probably, but even after this, nothing! Gives me the same error every single time I open the app, regardless if my GPS is on or not! It's driving me nuts, I tell you.

Can't download paid apps i receive Error 403 Android market.

Hi!
I purchased Tasker android app on the android market 7th march. When i try to download that app i receive "Error Takser could not be downloaded due to and error. (403)". My bank confirm Google charged, but i can't download it. If i visit android market using web browser i can see i already purchased it. If i clear cache data on "Play store" app its not work? Are there any solution?
Why don't you contact the developer with your order number and see if he can help
Email google about this issue.
I'm having this issue with all my Android Devices....this is apparently a problem with google. I've been in contact with them and they said their were issues with teh conversion to Google Play. I've been dealing with this for 2 weeks and have access to free apps, but I can't buy any. I've been forced to purchase apps from the Amazon Appstore. Google apparently doesn't want my money....I've been sending emails to google and the developers of the apps I purchased (Scrubs and Cut the Rope: Experiments) and have had literally NO correspondence from google or the the developers. This sucks, as I just got my Prime and Picked up a Used A100, now Google is screwing me....Just some bad news...considering that it's been 2 weeks since this issue cropped up for me and the fact that Google (and it appears the developers) are ignoring my emails, I'm going to assume two things, Google doesn't care, suggesting you start a new google account and re-buying your apps, or it's a known issue and they just don't want to deal with us right now....I just want a straight answer....It could be months before this is fixed....I recommend emailing google ASAP.
I have the same issue. Galaxy S2.
I downloaded an application ($20) from a forum to test it before purchasing, now after uninstalling it, it says i've already purchased it!
So i go to click INSTALL (no Buy button) in the Market (Google Play) and it says error 403 or something..
I thought I would be smart and download the AppBrain appstore. Well the STUPID thing is there is no reason to ever use this, as it just opens up the Market and wants me to install again without buying!
I tried to do the same thing with the Amazon app store, but they too divert you back to the Market app (market:// I assume)
Has anyone got any ideas on how I can "reset" or make the market think I haven't purchased this Application, and be able to purchase it legitimately and support the developer and receive frequent updates form the developer????
Thank you very very much!
Don't worry dude, every android users are facing the same issue all over the world. It is the Google's side that is having issues.
My google play have your issue intermediately few days ago.
I've had the same problem so I decided to use Wifi from home. I found that by using my home wifi that I was able to update. I know this doesn't help the problem if you are not connected to wifi but if you are at home - it might help

Just started getting this error again. Anyone else? Tried clearing store cache, dalvik-cache and google framework cache. Still gives a 403 error when attempting to download a paid app.
I just did a factory reset on my phone, and all my apps, free and paid installed no problem.. except Smart Keyboard Pro. It showed "purchased", I clicked it and told it to install (from the PC), and that was over an hour ago. I have restarted, and it still wont download, i get the 403 error each time..
I'm open for ideas...

Sometimes if you don't purchase the app from google it will say purchased but won't let you download it.
Thanks!

Your suggestion works perfectly! Unfortunately, it is requiring me to repurchase an app I've already paid for and I don't want to repay. I know, I know $2.99 is not going to break the bank; but it's kinda the principle. No worries, if I don't find an alternative solution I will be forking over the cash.
So I have had this ongoing issue as well for over 9 months. Tech support was a joke, like some of you have figured out.
Somehow, with no intervention from me, the problem fixed itself both on the website and the device. Not sure what happened, but im happy it did. I was fairly close to cutting all ties to google services over this, guess I dont have to now.
Here appslova.com have compiled solutions to fix error 403:
Method 1: The most common fix for most Android market or Google Play related errors.
Go to system settings>> Accounts>>Google>>remove your Gmail account
Now from settings>>Apps>>All> Force stop, Clear data and cache for Google Play Store, Google Service Framework and Download Manager (like in method 1)
Now again go to settings>> Accounts>>Google>>Add your gmail account
Restart your android and then accept all the Google terms and setup Google settings
Rerun Google Play Store and update or install your app.
Method 2-Clearing Proxy:
Go to settings>>Wireless and Networks>>More>>Mobile Networks
APN (Access Point Name)>>MOWAP>>Edit
Select clear Proxy option
Try to re-run the installation in Google Play Store
Method 3-Router Proxy Settings:
Open your router configuration or settings panel (example- typing 192.168.1.1 on the browser brings up the router settings on my TP-Link router)
Now find your filter settings>>Uncheck Proxy
If that didn’t work also uncheck Cookies box from the filter settings
Now install your app from Google Play
Method 4- Alternative Google account
Create another Google account if you currently have only one account
Open Google Play Store>>Press Menu button>>Accounts>>select the alternative Gmail account
Now try installing the app
Method 5- Browser Fix: I found this solution on Phonebuff.com.
Go to play.google.com on your Computer’s web browser (preferably Google Chrome).
Sign into your Google account (by hitting the sign-in button at the top right).
Search for the app you wish to purchase and download.
Open the app’s page up by clicking the title link.
On the “install” or “purchase” button, right click and press “inspect element.”
Above the row that will be highlighted, you’ll see several lines of code. Locate the “data-ispurchased=”true” code (near the bottom of the paragraph).
Double click on the “true” in data-is purchased=”true” and change it to “false” then press enter on your keyboard.
Now click on “installed” or “purchased” to buy the app as you normally would
These methods might seem like a lot of work but hopefully one of these methods will solve the 403 error for your Android.

Google Wallet Quirks

So I just spent about the last hour trying to get funds to add to my prepaid Google card and found some quirks that may help others avoid some frustration.
EDIT: THIS INFORMATION MAY BE WRONG!!! It's been mentioned that once the Google Wallet sees the tampered bootloader, we may have problems using Google Wallet.
I also went ahead and already rooted my phone today so that might have been the reason for the problems.
1. There was an update for Google Wallet pending. Before I did that, I couldn't even get my Google prepaid card to activate(and give me $10 bucks)
2. It appears as if you have root on your phone, you will need to grant root permissions to Google Wallet.
3. "Unfortunately Google Wallet Has Stopped Working" - I got this message a lot. I think it may be another issue with root. In order to get around it, I put in all of my card information and then made sure to UNCHECK "Remember this card for future top ups" My thought process behind this is maybe Google wants to make sure that your card information doesn't get stored on a phone that has root access(where the information can be accessed later)
Other thoughts:
I used a Mastercard debit card for my adding of funds even though they say debit cards won't work. I think as long as your debit card can be ran as credit, it will work fine for Google Wallet

it took forever when i did it, maybe a full 60-90 seconds IIRC
Does getting the unsupported device message mean it will work if it has root? When I grant root it still says my device is supported.

I rooted and then set up Wallet. IT asked for root permissions, I denied it. Everything worked fine after that. Admittedly I haven't tried actually using it to pay for something...
It's odd that my app appears to still be working even though I have given it root. Now to try and actually use it today.
So, I rooted using the method on the development page, opened google wallet, it asked for SU permission, I gave it. I was then able to create the prepaid card, it seems to be working now.
The app seems to be working whether you allow or deny SU permissions. Have not been able to test a purchase yet.
Something else to note... When I cleared SU permissions, Wallet cache and data to try it again by denying SU permissions my credit card info was not saved to the cloud and needed to be re-entered. However Citi bank apparently is having issues right now allowing a card to be authorized multiple times and it gets denied. Have been told a fix is being worked on to allow Wallet to be removed from the Citi account and should be ready by Tuesday.
unsupported device ?
Everything seemed to be working fine . Setup account got $10 credit now says unsupported device click to learn more and pretty much says because I gained root access its unsupported . I tried using voodoo ota app to temp unroot and still says same . Any solutions to fix other than running ruu to unroot ? Has anyone tried using to purchase something with the unsupported device and if so what were your results ?
Thanks
Edit : Just tried it out and works
I denied su and everything seems to be working fine for me. Like previously stated it did take about 45 to 60 seconds for the add but it went through fine.

So even though it says "Unsupported device" it still lets you buy stuff? Can you still add funds/cards as well?

I can't get sh*t to work, when I try to add a Google Card i get an error, I don't have a citi card so I cant add that.
For me this doesn't work, am I missing something?
I set up google wallet the day I got the phone, then I rooted it the following day. Tried using the prepaid $10 card at the gas station yesterday, and all I had to do was deny root access when it asked, and the transaction went through.
I haven't tried to add funds and I don't have citi bank so can't comment on that . I didn't set up my account till after root and I denied su . I got my $10 credit and IIRC it didn't say unsupported device till after I got the credit . Posted question right after then I went to 7-11 and used with no problem. It even said unsupported device when wallet opened for purchase. Tried yesterday at MC Donald and it didn't work but it didn't even read the nfc thinking it is because if the new otterbox defender series case though and I didn't want to pull phone out of case. I'll try to add funds and also use again and post my findings.
So does the wallet app need to be opened in order to use it?
I know it says that you just have to wake the device, but everytime I've tried it that way = no good. I'll have to find someplace when it's not busy so I can play around with it, hating trying when got multiple people in line behind me.

I've had some trouble topping up the pre-paid card. When I enter my CC info the wallet app will force close when I submit the info. However if I uncheck the box that saves the CC info the transaction will go through. It's not a game breaker but it sure is annoying.

So I rooted my phone today to get wifi working, and then decided to try wallet again and it works fine. I allowed it to get root as well, didn't realize when it asked so ...
I now have 10 in credit, will try the payment tomorrow.
Crazy..
Also does wallet just stay running all the time in the tray? Does that affect bat life at all?

[Q] Problems with Google Wallet and Play Store

Ok. Yesterday, I rooted my HTC EVO 4G LTE using regawMOD. I paid special attention to follow the directions. Especially the one telling me to reset Google Wallet. And the operation was a success, after the second try.
I first noticed the problem when I tried to purchase a paid app on Play. I started getting error messges to sign in to Google Wallet. When I opened it it had a yellow message saying that my EVO was an unsupported device. Still I logged in. At first the payment went through, and email confirmed that. While waiting for the download to start, I got another email saying the order had been cancelled, followed by an error notice that the download was declined.
I'm wondering if anybody else is having this problem? And, if so, if they have found a workaround, short of downloading/flashing .apk's from the web?
p.s. I haven't had a problem downloading free apps, yet.
We have like 100 threads on this topic already. Google Wallet isn't working. I think you might have to used your actual credit card.
And there in lies the problem. Wallet/Play Store won't allow me to download any paid apps, regardless of the payment method. And it's not just on my LTEVO. Getting the same problem on my OG EVO.
They just put out a update for Google wallet... Not sure I should upgraded best bg rooted... Will it break anything?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
After updating, I had the same problem. So, I went into Titanium and uninstalled Wallet. Now,the Play Store seems to be working fine.

[Q] Help! No access to full Google Play services.

Hi guys. I just received my HTC Droid DNA from the US. It has an unlocked bootloader and has been rooted with TWRP installed. Most of the Verizon bloatware has been removed too.
But after logging into my UK Google Play account I can only access the Apps category. Nothing else. No Music, Books, or Movies.
I updated the Google Play services but no luck. I even tried with an updated APK and it still won't work.
I also tried accessing the Movie store from the Play Movies app but it just takes me to the site.
Any ideas? This has never happened before with an import device.
Thanks.
Could it be because I dont have a SIM card installed?
Its so strange. Whenever I load the Play Store it just automatically starts in the Apps page. It doesn't open the regular homepage with options for Apps, Music, Movies & TV, Books etc.
I have attached a screenshot showing what its like. Normally in the top left corner there would be an option to go from the apps page back to the main page but there simply isn't.
I have even tried changing the locale to English UK using apps like MultiLocale2 and others. When I load the Play Store after it looks like its about to load the main page but then it goes back again to the Apps page.
Even attempting to access the Book store from the Play Books app diverts me to the Play Store website http://play.google.com.
Clearly something is going on here. Something is blocking access to the other Play Services.
Also everything is in dollars $. I don't mind this as I had the same thing on my old Motorola Xoom, but the fact that the other services have gone is very strange.
This is really annoying now. I have tried the following:
Updating Google Play Services in the Play Store
Installing the latest Google Play Store APK
Turning on all location services
Changing my locale to English UK/GB and English US
Attempting to access the store categories from their respective apps e.g. Play Music app (just diverts me to the Play Store website)
Trying different languages in the Setup Wizard
Edited my Google Account and added my region as UK
Deleted preinstalled Play Music, Movies, Books APK/odex files
Restored my phone
None of these methods have worked. I can only access Apps in the Store. Nothing else.
Is it because the phone is rooted? Did deleting the bloatware cause any issues?
Are you running custom rom ? you mite wanna clear your cache IDK. I am a noob who is just trying to help.

I just reinstalled all the Verizon bloatware to system/app via the file manager in TWRP. Rebooted the phone, turned on location services logged into my Google account and still no luck.
Only the Apps still in the Play Store.
Getting really annoyed now. I have tried nearly everything. Last shot is to swap out the GooglePlayServices Framework and Play Store APK's with different more upto date ones.
Tried swapping the GoogleServicesFramework.apk and Phonesky.apk with updated versions in system/app.
Rebooted the device and the Play Store just crashes and comes up with an error.
Went into recovery and deleted the associated odex files for both of them and tried again. Now I get a server error in the Play Store.
Restored the device from a backup now. So annoying! I doubt this device will work properly with Google Play outside of the US.

Wipe your data and cache in TWRP. It's a nuisance to put all of your things back the way you had them, but this usually solves odd problems like this.
I give up.
Tried everything and nothing is working. It just simply wont load the main Play Store page. It jumps automatically to Apps. In that I have noticed that there is a Verizon category and everything is in USD$. But that still doesnt explain why its not working properly.
On top of that I have pushed new Phonesky.apk and GoogleServicesFramework.apk. Tried them with both odex files present as well as deleted.
Comes up with either Server Errors or Error Retrieving Information From Server [RH-01].
Does any one with more knowledge like a dev have any idea how to fix this?
2 questions...
Did you have this issue prior to device unlock?
Have you wiped data as reccomended by several other users in this thread?
I know its not a perm solution but i suggest that you create a new google email account and attempt to log into the playstore using these new credentials. This will allow you to test your theory that its related to your uk goog account. If that is the case then reg an account with US google and your problem is solved. I know it inconvenient to have to lose paid apps and what not but if this is truly a location issue then you may not have a choice my friend. Good luck.

Hi.
Thanks for the response.
I personally did not perform the unlock. The seller in the US did, as well as rooting the device. Upon receiving it, I immediately reset the device and logged in with my Google account. Thats when I noticed the problem. Its only been connected to WiFi as I have no Micro SIM yet to try it out on it.
I have wiped Data via TWRP as well as the Cache and Dalvik Cache. I have cleared data and cache in the Application settings for both the Play Store and Google Play Services. Nothing seems to work.
And its a very strange problem. Not one I have encountered before and searching on the internet it seems to be very rare. If I try to access the Books category by clicking on the little Play Store logo in the Play Books app, it switches to the Play Store and then immediately opens a new tab in the browser sending me straight to the website.
Surely as a Global device with unlocked GSM capabilities they should expect a foreigner or even someone on holiday from the States to try and use Google Play in another country.

Just tried it now mate. Created a new Google account with US details. Logged into Google Play and still the same problem. I even went through the Setup Wizard route on the phone just to be sure. It must be detecting my location via my IP address.
OK Guys.
Im getting somewhere now.
I have downloaded Market Enabler APK and set the phone to US Verizon settings. I then used Droid VPN with a US server and now I can access the Play Store properly with all the categories. So its clearly an IP issue. But now the question is how the hell do I get past it?
Just to confirm this. I logged out of my new US Google Account and back into my old UK one. At the same time I kept Market Enabler and Droid VPN active.
It worked fine. I was able to access the Play Store properly with all categories. After this I logged out of Droid VPN and deleted Market Enabler and it still worked! (I attached a screenshot) The last piece was to see if it would function after a reboot.
Turned the phone back on, went into the Play Store and the same problem as before. Only Apps. So its clearly to do with my UK IP address.
But at least I now know. Looks like I will be selling the Droid DNA.
What I don't understand, is that if i'm in the UK with a UK IP address, with a working UK SIM and a UK Google Account why cant I access the UK Google Play store on an unlocked GSM device?!

Well the device is not technically an unlocked GSM device. Your bootloader is unlocked but that has nothing to do with the ability to use it on another carrier. The device was released under verizon as a flagship verizon exclusive with GLOBAL CAPABILITY meaning all applicable consumers would have purchased in the us and be roaming on all other carriers, so technically was never meant to be a GSM only phone. The fact that it works on GSM carriers is because of the radio chip they decided to use. Now because it can pick up these bands doesnt mean that vzw released the device with the intentions of it being used on other carriers. What you need sir is the HTC j butterfly which is a GSM "Carrier UNLOCKED" global version. Anyway I imagine with a little wizardry there is a way around this for you. I cant provide a fix but I'm sure there is a way. I'll ask a couple people and see what their thoughts are.
Thanks for the reply. I understand where your coming from. I know that its a Verizon exclusive, but if anyone was to use it abroad even for a short while why cant they just reroute you to the local Google Play store or better yet base your Play Store off your country details in your account.
I think this is also due to the fact that the phone is ultimately only for US consumers like you said. Even when setting up the phone there is no option for English UK or English AU etc. Just the US.
Oh well. Thanks for everyones help.

[Q] T-Mobile WiFi Calling App

I recently was given a pre-owned, rooted T-Mobile Samsung Dart (T499) by a friend. At some point when she owned the phone, she decided to remove a number of pre installed apps that she had no use for from the phone. Among them was the 'T-Mobile WiFi Calling' app.
I, however, do need this app (cell service inside my house is quite a bit less than reliable), but it isn't available in the Google Play Store, and I have had very limited luck finding it online. And even when I have found a reliable, working link to download the .apk, when I run the install on my phone, it either fails before the install is finished, or the install says it was successful, but when you attempt to run the app, it crashes and makes you force close it. I have searched, but found little to no information for my specific make and model of phone on how to fix or prevent this issue.
Could anyone help me out by providing me a location where I can download the application, and maybe give me an idea of how to go about installing the app once I do find it?
Try searching on following sites
