I want to start by saying I'm no noob, I've been rooting/flashing/moding phones for years now. But im stuck.
My phone randomly rebooted a few days ago and would not boot back up. It would show the intitial Samsung 9300 boot screen and sit there.
I pulled the battery and tried to boot to recovery, but it would just stay at the Samsung boot screen. I am able to get to download mode, but computer will not connect. I've tried windows and ubuntu. Fresh installs and previously tried and succeded setups. All saw and communicated with my co-workers s3, not mine.
The most frustrating part is that Odin will recognize it but not flash. Errors with "no valid pit file" if I use the .pit file and repartion, it will hang at setup connection and eventually say cannot communicate. Similar experience with kies, sees it but can't communicate. (Kies was not installed with Odin)
Am I hard bricked here? Is there any way to fix(billable repair from Samsung even?)
I know there was an un-brickable mod for the galaxy s1. Anyone know who I could contact to send my phone to them to try to work out and un-brickable mod for this if I can't repair?
Thanks in advance, my head is starting to hurt at this point

So i had a Vibrant using 2.1 and i updated to 2.2 using kies mini. Phone went thru with the upgrade but never booted back. Phone will not turn on at all. Tried to push it into download mode but tht wont work either. Is there still a way to recover the phone?
p.s already went thru the FIX AND RESCUE YOUR VIBRICK Guide.
Did you try the taking battery, vol up down, plug usb then put back battery one? If yes and still a no go try a jig, you can get one from ebay or mobiletechvideos. If still a no go on that i guess just take it back to t-mo. Good luck.

This. If Kies Mini bricked it, then it will be fixed by using the download mode method he states, you shouldn't need a JIG.
I hope Odin picks it up! Tmo wont honor the warranty as i bought the phone from a 3rd party..I already tried tht.
The Jig didnt work for me! Since i bought this phone from craigslist Tmobile said they cant give me a replacement since the warranty is not under my name? Is there anyway i could go thru Samsung to get a replacement? Or will they require some sort of documentation in the form of a sales receipt? Can someone who has gotten a replacement thru Samsung help me please. Any help will be appreciated
Find a local repair shop and if they have a jtag and the proper software/firmware they should be able to bring it back to life in the event the boot loader was damaged. Again, depends on what the problem is, if it's fried........ sorry!

Check out the Odin part. It will help you flash back to 2.1. You can try updating again with clean 2.1. I messed up updating to 2.2 once, so I used Odin to go back to 2.1 and re-update.
Only if the phone powered on could i use Odin...
Long-time reader, first time post..
Same thing happened to me. T-mobile replaced it. Luckily I had wiped it clean and was unrooted before I updated.
I replaced it through samsung, as long as you didn't root it then you should be ok, or as long as it is on stock without root. Just tell them that your calling to see if you have warranty. Then they will ask you what your imei number, which is located on the back. Then read it to them and they will tell you if it has warranty or not. To convince them to take it in, just make up something. Don't tell them that you dropped it or something, just tell them that it won't turn on and that you don't know why or something, hope this helps.

Talk to Samsung support. You don't have to make up a story since it happened while upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2 through Kies. Tell them that and you should be covered.
i tried to put 2.3 gingerbread on my samsung galaxy s 4g and i was using odin and during the process it failed and my phone shut off. It wont turn on when plug in i hold all the buttons nothing works. tried to put in download mode doesnt turn on nothing works please i need help i just got the phone tried to put 2.3 gingerbread on and it failed now my phone wont turn on. i basically tried every thing and nothing works.
Oh great.... I don't want to be the person to deliver bad news. But I believe you have screwed up your bootloader stage 1. That means you can button clickyour way into download mode or recovery. Also known as a HARDBRICK. The gingerbread ROM from Samsung comes with new bootloaders, which is always a very risky thing to change. I know a JIG probably won't work but its worth a try. :/ sorry but I think your SOL. Read this actually.

Yeah you can. Just send it in to samsung and say kies screwed it up or something. They should do it. Other wise you will have to break the phone open and do a flash box. Its in that link! Hope you can fix it man :/

I am having the EXACT same problem. ODIN failed and it just froze on downloading screen so I had no other choice but to try rebooting the phone but of course, phone is now dead.
I tried putting it on download mode too but will no longer work.
I guess it is bricked unless if anyone has any idea to give life to this thing.
I'm having the exact same problem.. I might try having a professional flash box it, I'll let you know how it goes.
There is a good Samsung unbrick method here, works for Odin I used it 3 times in 20 minutes on my captivate, hold home, volume down, and power, put in USB with Odin running, and it should go into download mode, then reflash.
The worst that will happen is you will still be bricked, there is more info round the site, just gotta read.

Hi everybody,
Yesterday I experienced a bad flash on my Galaxy S II (Kies crashed) and ever since, the screen doesnt turn on. The device does get warm (so i assume it does turn on) but it doesn't visibly react on anything else that I do. I cannot seem to start it with the three button combo(s) and plugging in a charger doesn't show the charging animation.
Is there anybody who has had previous experience with this (or something similar) and knows a way I can still flash my phone in order to restore it?
Also: Has anybody updated their SGSII via Kies? How does that work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried a jig to force download mode?

Where can I get a jig for sgs II? Does the one for sgs I work?
Sent from my U8120 using XDA Premium App
yeah Jigs work from GS1. Ebay is your friend or u can make one urself.
Thanks. I'll try as soon as i get access to the necessary materials.
maybe this video helps u a bit..

If the phone turns on, although without the screen, maybe you can connect with adb? If so "adb reboot download" should get you in download mode.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
I tried the usb connectivity. The phone makes no USB connection whatsoever.
I'll try the jig once i get home (where i have the necessary resistances and calbes/connectors).
If it doesnt work I'll try to get it repaired through normal warranty channels.
Well I'm sad to report that with a JIG, the phone does appear to start as before (black screen and gets warm) but there is no download logo nor is it recognizable by PC/Odin.
Going back to try to get warranty on this tomorrow.
Any other idea are welcome of course.
Me and my husband both have Verizon fascinates and mine has aokp m6 glitch..no probs...my husband is plain stock and he's been losing service and whatnot so i was going to reboot his rom still with stock
Now the problem...i can't get the PC to recognize his phone...reinstalled drivers etc...works for mine though...when i tried Odin the phone would go into download mode but Odin would not add it...but will mine...any ideas if why this may be happening?

I'm having the same problem. Does it connect to Odin while on in debugging mode? I was told that if it does to use abd to find out if the drivers are working correctly. Also does it pop up and says the the device has errored and can't connect?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda app-developers app
I see this a lot. Sometimes its the cable, and sometimes its the phone itself. I had the hardest time getting Odin to work. It was a cable issue. I bought a BlackBerry data cable and voila! It was working again.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
I've tried like 10 diff cables...and they'll all workfor my phone just not his...i don't know if i can access adb on his being it's not rooted or anything...and i can't root it without Odin recognizing it...when i connect it to mass storage the phone itself recognizes it's connected (sometimes)...but the pc just keeps saying it doesn't recognize the device...but once again it recognizes mine which is the same phone just diff rom kernel etc....
I'll prob just try messing with it some more being i was in the middle of the woods at 2am camping when i was trying to get it to work...maybe I'll have better luck...i know the phone got soaked but it was fine till like 2 weeks after when it started losing all carrier service until it would reboot itself
And he thought I'd have problems with my custom roms...ha!

I had the same issue with my fascinate. I discovered it was the cable.(my phone took a bath to. Last the vibrate but still runs like a champ) I ended up using my wife's kindle cable I tried like 4 til the kindle cable redeemed me from ics envy. Also, to get Odin to see your phone and trick windows 7 to install some generic "universal USB driver" you have to...
1. Launch Odin (I'm using version 3 something)
2. Connect phone to computer.
3. Power down phone.
4. 3 finger into stock recovery.
Odin should at this point see the port to his phone.
I had to do try everything til I discovered this. Also have you used mass storage or media sync with on his fascinate? Those are some drivers that the fascinate installs to get the path from phone to computer working.
Let me know if it works

I recently found that it can be more often then not the cable. The cord that came with my phone does not allow it to be recoginized by my computer but my friends cord for her LG P930 works perfectly. I have also had to reinstall the samsung usb driver a few times while changing roms.

Well somehow i got it to work...i plugged my phone in after his and the computer decided to download some drivers and all of a sudden it started recognizing his phone...now i just have find a ROM that agrees with it being i can't use ics being it only turns on if you 3 finger into recovery then connect it to a power source...then it magically turns on so you can reboot...haven't found any solution to that issue except that something in the battery connection had to short out when it got wet

okay, so my brother wanted to root his samsung fascinate after my dad gave it to him, so i said alright and downloaded a bunch of those one click root apps, and none of them worked. after a bit of web browsing, we figured out how using ODIN. a little bit of downloading later, we unsuccessfully root the phone. so we try again, except when we selected the PDA file, we chose a ROM built for a samsung epic 4g. so we flashed a rom for a totally different phone to our samsung fascinate. for a while, it would sit at a boot loop, flashing the words, " Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G from t-mobile. then we let the phone die, and now it doesn't show anything on the screen at all. we know it's still bootlooping because when we plug the phone in to the computer it flashes, one the USB devices attached to this computer have malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message. when i click the message it brings up a list of USB devices connected to my computer, my phone showing up as Unknown Device. I have no clue what i have to do, someone pleas help me. additional info, i have an HP mini netbook, windows ultimate. the phone does NOT go into download mode when the volume key is held down. This phone is a U.S Cellular Samsung Galaxy Fascinate. please help.
As far as download mode goes,,,
Battery out,,,
Usb plugged into pc,,, then
Into phone,,, then

I mean I can't get the phone into download mode at all. I do that combo but nothing appears on the computer, and nothing appears on screen.
Is most probably a soft brick ! Try using jig to get into download mode if button combo doesn't work .
Btw can you connect it to adb
You might have to go to epic 4g forums to find out how they get their phone into DL mode since you basically wrote over the fassy boot loader with the epic 4g one. This might or might not work. You did a big no-no flashing another phones firmware.

You'll probably have to use a jig, do a search on what that is and how to get/make one
Thank you for the jig idea. I ordered one on amazon and I made one today, I have yet to test it. I ordered one on amazon in case my home made one doesn't work, I don't really have high hopes. Can someone give me download links for the stock ROM for my Samsung fascinate?
Droidstyle's guide has links for the stock rom and most everything else you need
I fixed it turns out I couldn't charge my phone, so I asked a random girl to use her phone, took out her battery, plugged it into the teacher's computer, took it out, plugged in the jig, got into download mode, plugged into teachers computer again, took out her battery, put in mine, charged my battery a little, took a netbook from a different teacher, downloaded Odin and flashed my phone flashed the wrong image again though xD it turns out I have a u.s cellular Samsung mesmerize instead of a Samsung facsinate, so my phone thinks its connected to Verizon network xD oh well it works and I'm happy thanks for the jig idea! Bought it from Amazon and got here like 3 weeks later.
