Demonizing Kernelz
These are the first Kernels I have ever built so go easy on me. There are two versions AOSP GB and AOSP ICS. Currently there is no major modifications, as I get more experience I will start posting change logs and upload source code. For now we will keep all discussion in the thread. Please report any problems, or concerns. As of now I will only be uploading the zImage.
GB Beta: GB KERNEL
ICS Sense Beta: See Scroslers ROM ICS Kernel
ICS AOSP ALPHA: ALPHA
ICS ALPHA PROBLEMS: Well as with all alpha status kernels, I would not recommend daily use. Its a work in progress! Stay Posted for updates.
NO DATA
NO WIFI
NO ADB
NO USB MOUNTING
Awesome dude, you're the first to have an AOSP kernel for us. To bad we don't have a rom for it, but hey, progress is progress

You'll be thanking me when you have ICS on your Rezound.
Personally can't wait to see some AOSP on this phone.
This is awesome. I have been getting discouraged by not having any updates on AOSP progress lately.
Is it an ICS kernel or gingerbread?
I would be ecstatic with a CM7 port right now.

Ok so iI built a KANG of the Tiamat AOSP Kernel for the Rezound. I am taking no credit. All credit goes to TIAMAT.
I am not sure this works, again this is AOSP so it has to be tested with an AOSP Port. If anyone has one please contact me for testing.
Thank You

If anyone has an AOSP, CM7 or (preferably) a CM9 ROM built and wants a tester for the ROM/kernel combination send me a PM with the info/links.

I, like countless others, would also be willing to test, I'm sure.... Thanks for all the work!
FYI The only changes that need to be made for aosp are a few things for the touchscreen and to use the aosp WiFi module instead of htcs. Theres nothing that that should have prevented someone from booting aosp with the stock kernel... They just wouldn't have touch initially, which as a five minute fix. I also wouldn't use this kernel as the base for an aosp build since its highly modified and it will be difficult to separate kernel issues from ROM issues. I'll build a completely stock kernel with just the aosp changes later, if that's what's been holding everyone up.

From the changes I made, it looked to me as if it was completely stock with AOSP changes. Tiamat hasn't made this official so there is very few or no modifications. But man I wish I would of asked! This thing was a pain!

Where did you pull the source from? You said Tiamat so I assumed you used their 8x60 Tiamat source as the base.
http://git.tiamat-dev.com/8x60/htc-kernel-msm8x60/
If you used the vigor branch it looks like they haven't done anything at all to it yet so it may just be fine. But in that case I would remove Tiamat kang from the title since you didn't kang anything from them if you made all the changes yourself... Haha.
Edit, I see where you pulled from, it looks like they started a new branch:
http://git.tiamat-dev.com/8x60/tiamat-kernel
It may or may not work, it doesn't look like they've made too many changes to it but its using the ruby kernel as the base with vigor files added to it, I still say it would be best to use the kernel straight from htc with just the changes for AOSP added.
With all the kernels and releases coming out, what is the general consensus on when ICS ROMs will be considered stable or feature-complete?
Was the recent i777 leak what developers were looking for to complete/optimize ICS ROMs? Or are we still waiting on i777 kernel source? Is Entropy's kernel a long-term solution?
Just wondering when to flash.
Thanks forum.

Let me rephrase my question, how much better will the current ROMs get when i777 kernel source is released? Will we see an AOSP ROM?

I have yet to find a single bug running Shoman's rom. Your mileage may vary, read the thread et cetera but if you're asking when to flash I'd just go for it.
+1 on Shoman's ICS rom. It has operated flawlessly for me.
I9100 source is what we needed. We're only a little bit behind I9100 now. I9100 ICS has some nasty stability problems, I'm hoping to fix them before releasing DD for ICS. I'm working with gokhanmoral and a few others on it, it's not I777 unique.

SHOstock ICS rom is amazingly stable and already in 5th release with more on the way
CM9 now has nightly builds for I-777. I fell in love with CM7 and am really liking the official CM9 nighty builds so far.
ICS leak
The ICS i777 leak, which has been bundled as a cwm zip without bootloaders
is working good for me with only a few minor bugs
alarms not working
wifi only scans after toggle
battery stats graph crashes
I don't know how this compares to i9100, the ICS leak is the first I've tried.
It's stable enough for me to not look back and stick with ICS
I'd definitely recommend SHOstock2, it's head and shoulders above the ATT leak in a lot of ways and I haven't had a single crash or noticed any bugs since installing RC4.

I agree with the uclc2 leak, I had the following issues: Titanium Backup would not install any of my games+data and 1/2 my apps would not install. From what I could tell were any of the apps and games that I had moved over to sd card would not be restored under the leak. Than all of a sudden, my phone had locked up after getting most of my apps *from the batch restore missing apps and data* and quit even getting service when wifi was on and try to turn off wifi = lockup/reboot. Really weird after 4 hours of running it. Under SHOstock2 Rc4 everything restored properly and even upgrading to rc5 which gave back the multi toggle options and running very stable. Zero issue with it.
HTH,
Charlie
I've been running LilChris's phone-bricker with zero problems. Restored apps and data using tibu. Fast and smooth.

Been running the AOKP build from Ported Dev thread with no major problems. Only problem is that when I am listening to music and a text or notification comes in, the music volume is lowered by 2 notches, then when I try to turn it up it goes by about 3 notches. Its a balancing act to get the volume back. Thats my only grippe. I havent had much time to read so I dont know if the newer ICS roms have fixed that issue.
It seems like all the ROMs have a few little glitches. Is there an ICS ROM that can record video at 1080p? Or connect to a 5GHz AP? Or has HDMI/MHL functionality?
I'm switching to the first one that does all 3. I'd be really excited if we can get NFC too.

Yea I now see why the mods are so close-happy in this sub-forum. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to invoke a flood of ROM-reviews by starting this thread. All I had wanted was a general outlook of ROM-stability coming from official leaks and releases.
Well, all the Sense 4 ROMs drain my battery like its nobody's business, and personally I really don't seem to like Sense anymore. I know that newtoroot came out with an AOSP rom awhile back in like February, but has anyone been working on one since? And I know people "claim" to have AOSP roms but all of them are still using sense's SystemUI, so im looking for a FULL AOSP rom. thanks to anyone who can help.

Since this is a pretty touchy subject... I'll handle it.
We do not have full functioning AOSP roms. The rezound has very difficult tech to reverse engineer. The AOSP roms that do exist all have no data, text, or call capability. Not even wifi. A few have tried to work on getting AOSP over but either stopped in the hopes that the ICS OTA stuff will help or they just dumped the rezound completely. I just hope you don't get flamed.
What hurts the rezound, was that everyone was expecting to get it and then immediately switch to ICS so the gingerbread development lacked a lot. And leaks don't really help us at all as far as ICS goes. Here we are 8 months after the debut of ICS and we are still left out in the cold.
There are a few people still trying to make AOSP happen, but for now, senseless is as close as you'll get.

I'm not gonna get flamed. But newtoroots AOSP Rom was so close to perfect, ril worked, everything ran perfectly, except for a few bugs here and there. I would love if some awesome dev out there would take that Rom, fix it up, and put it on the forums. That's my two cents. Thanks for the feedback man.

Let's not flame this guy. Let's turn this into a productive thread about AOSP even though we have scattered comments about AOSP/AOKP/CM in random threads.
Chad is working on RIL issues in his upcoming kernel. Chad is an extremely busy student so don't expect anything soon although he has gotten calls/sms/1x data working.
We really don't have an updated version of CM9 or AOKP but since we don't have data for them yet, there is no reason to make a ROM bot for them automatically compiling roms nightly.
OK now let's get productive. We have GB source. I don't understand why we don't have a CM7 rom yet. Well, I didn't understand why until I tried do compile/port one myself. I am not an expert at compiling from source especially when our device isn't officially supported but my port won't boot past the splash screen. I am thinking about putting the port up in the dev section and turning it into a community project. I have tried the Demonizing AOSP kernel and I have compiled multiple CM7 kernels from source but still no booting.
I know CM7 is GB based but it's better than nothing at least until we get ICS source.

Over the weekend I upgraded from an old LG Optimus on cm7 to the EVO LTE.
I didnt realize this phone is was running ICS and not jellybean! Ive already rooted and installed a recovery. I had planned on staying with the stock sense rom and installing a custom kernel. I like the UI. Ive been reading that CM10 is much smoother than seanse though. I was reading around and it sounded like CM10.1 is really buggy? I was hoping if someone could tell me what the problems with Cm10.1m2 are and if the stable CM10 rom is better?
Im aalso looking for a kernel with USB host and OC enabled. I do a lot of embedded hardware development and got a new android because wanted USB host that way I could interface my designs with the phone. I was sad to find out usb host is not enabled on this phone stock. So should I stick with sense and ICS and compile a custom kernel or should I move to cm10 or 10.1?

Ok so I have a mdk version of this phone and I want to put a solid rom on it what one is the best do you think of the non tw ones? And another stupid question if I flash like dirty unicorn does it lock down the bootloadrr?
There is no right answer to this... the best rom is the one you like the most, so you need to start flashing and finding this out for yourself.
Flashing roms will not lock your bootloader. Only if you take an official update will it do that.
what the above user said is correct, the best ROM depends on the user. However, i have a rooted mdk gs4 and i was using stock for quite a whole and happy with it. after a while tho, the slight lag and other annoyances got to me so i decided to try a rom. I should note that this is my first android device, I am a long time iphone user and jailbreak expert, so i'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. I decided to try Hyperdrive recently and I absoultely love it. its basically a hybrid of touchwiz for gs4 and note 3 with all of the bloated BS crap removed and lots of customization options. it is much faster and solves some of my gripes and was easy to install. I also chose to try it first because it was similar to what i was already on so it was a good first ROM choice in my opinion. it was also super easy to install. I am gonna try CM11 when it gets released to see if I like it, but for now i would recommend you try hyperdrive

Ive had a lot of trouble with AOSP 4.3 ROM's with Bluetooth. On long conversations the BT will cut out and then the phone hot boots after I hang up.
I dont use that much I just want a good daily driver

All the aosp roms bring something to the table. The touch wiz roms for this phone are great as well. There are fan boys for all of them.
See what you like.
That said. I can tell you which developers I'd follow. I say this based on user support and rom support, and listening to features requests, and a quality product. or a combination there of. Sbreen94, nitroglycerin33, dubbsy, beanstown106 , Bdogg for DU is starting out right. Andybones is also tops but I haven't seen as much of him lately.
Edit: forgot DaMadOne is is doing nice things on his aokp kang.
With the big aosp custom rom's you have a ton of peer support buy typically @ the mercy of whatever the larger team is working on in terms of bug fixes etc...
I have less experience with sacs so can't say there.

There is no right answer to this... the best rom is the one you like the most, so you need to start flashing and finding this out for yourself.
Flashing roms will not lock your bootloader. Only if you take an official update will it do that.

His bootloader is already locked. But I do agree that there is no best. .. my favorite is stock unrooted.

Spergy69's Tendernips 2.3 Rom with ThaShizz kernel and FeceTweaks works like crap. Definitely recommend
