Simplest is Method 1 Instructions 2 on that thread. Download Root_SuperSU.0.96.Only-signed.zip and flash it via CWM. and USe temporary CWM

Rooting solution for S2 I9100G?

Hi everyone,
My phone details:
Samsung Galaxy S2
Model GT-I9100G
Android Version 2.3.6
Build: gingerbread.XWKJ2
Kernel 2.6.35.7
I tried to root my phone before using odin 1.85 but guess I flashed the wrong kernel and got stuck in boot loop. I am not sure if I can root it by Doomlord rooting kit has anyone tried it on the "G" make?
Is there any other way to root because I have been searching a lot and most people could not root it by flashing kernels?

Not sure if to risk using one of them to flash XWKJ2 will work.

Learn how to use Odin
get ROM from checkfus downloader or sammobile.com
Pick lp7 ROM skip lp9.
You can flash any ROM if you got i9100, say UK lp7.
Flash using Odin.

Doesn't matter were you are...
Get a whole package and flash.
Lp7 UK ics
Dxlp9 Singapore ics
Both stock roms work fine. Personally I say go for lp7 UK.
After that learn how to use cfroot kernel to get root access.

Thanks for that.
Can you give me that link for lp7.
I salute you.

I want to keep my stock recovery manager. I was also wondering, if I root my phone, then I factory restore my phone, will it still have the stock recovery image? Will it unroot my phone?

then flash stock recovery back on.
No, factory reset will not remove root and get back on stock recovery if that's wasn't on it originally.
Next time use the search function and stickies in the General forum.
You can use CF-Auto-Root to root the phone, it will not change the recovery compared to CR-Root 6.5
Use mskips method...
I used it for root my mobile....
