do you have _hack_recovery.zip by condi's AiO? If you do try to flash it. if you see that hack_recovery flashes system so you should try new feature of AiO - direct flashing from recovery. I've repaired my tablet with condi's help when my stuck on sony logo after my stupid mistake with bulpild.prop.
But my tablet was soft bricked. You should be ready to replace motherboard if your tablet is not soft bricked.

Clockworkmod

Okay, so I've rooted my phone and installed Clockworkmod.
Before I even think about attempting to install a new ROM I thought I'd back up my existing rom.
I've dl'd clockwork mod yet when I try to create a backup i get...
--Installing package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:Failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I'm new to all this and I'm not entirely sure what's going on here. Hopefully someone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance...

That text looks like what you get when you are trying to install a non-signed package and your signature verification is turned on. NOT when you are creating a backup.
Make sure you are choosing backup, not install zip file. If you get that text when choosing a backup, something is wrong with your version of CWM.
Where did you rebooted to Clockworkmode from ROMmanager??
try with Vol-up+Home+Power and select backup option from CWM menu

It is indeed when I try to use ROMmanager. Ihave Flashed ClockworkMod Recovery (Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 4.0.1.5) I select "Backup Current ROM" and get the message I posted above.
If I turn the phone off and then try VolumeUp+Home+Power the screen only flashes once and thenjust stays on download mode screen...
strange!!! download mod comes with vol-down, not vol-up
OK, you just flash TAR version of CF-root for your matching kernel, or Siyah kernel from ODIN
and forget ROM manager....there is a compatibility issue for Rom manager and the CWM flashed from that with SGS2
feel free to ask if you dont understand
JUST FLASH STOCK TO GET BACK TO OLD ROM!! you can find all you need in my signature
Ah, Vol-Down... D'oH!
Ok tried that and now I still get the same as before...
Android system recovery <3e>
Enter: OK key. Select : Vol UP / Vol Down
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/Factory reset
wipe cache partition
--Installing package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:Failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed

I rooted the phone using SuperOneClick...
Do I need to install a custom kernel?
no problem, just flash Siyah or CF-root
you can get CWM working everything flowlessly
I will try that...
Thanks...
Hmm, when I flash the Siyah kernel (using Odin) the phone won't reboot...
I have to reboot in download mode and flash a original BUKG2 kernel to get the phone working again.
I have tried downloading insecure kernels but whenever I try to unzip them it asks for a password?
did you try CF-root

insecure is not required now

When flashing Siyah, did you flash version 3, or 2.6.14 or lower? Version 3 and up is for ICS only.

Indeed. Please take this lesson to heart; read the entire thread of the thing you intend to install or flash before actually doing so.

[Q] Problems updating rooted S3 to latest firmware (I9300XXBLH3)

Hi.
Samsung recently released firmware update PDA: I9300XXBLH3, CSC: I9300DBTBLH4, Version: 4.0.4, Date: 2012-08-24.
My S3 is rooted and encrypted. I had to decrypt it before I could downloading the update. Now I hit the update button and my S3 rebooted into CWM, telling me
Code:
E: Invalid command argument
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Install Untrusted Package? Yes / No.
If I hit Yes CWM shows me robot with a red triangle and some text:
Code:
Installing update...
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "m0" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "m0"
E: Error in /cache/fota/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I was able to reboot my S3 the usual way afterwards.
How can I solve that problem and update to the new firmware?
Thanks in advance!
guess that you are trying to update via OTA on rooted firmware ???
As per the instructions OTA fails on root phones .
Update firmware via KIES .
jje
I see. Okay. I will do so.
Do I have afterwards to re-root my device? And can I keep my apps & data due to unrooting it again?
Always recommended to backup your apps and data. After update via kies, you need to reroot you phone.

Okey. Thank you people for the quick response.
Just open the updater script using notepad ++ and delete those two lines.. Save the script.. And then flash
By the way I am typing from my phone.. So expect typos!!
@zoot1: In the meantime I tried it updating using KIES with success. It was a long procedure.
Is your method save for updating deleting these two lines?

If you are using the correct firmware with the correct device than it should be safe.. I once had faced the same assert checks fail on me.. Deleted those 2 line and updated successfully..

Help

I have the international version of the SGS3 (i9300) and I tried to flash CM11 Unofficial following this tutorial: http: //www . android. gs/install-unofficial-cm-11-build-for-samsung-galaxy-s3-i9300-android-4-4-kitkat-custom-rom/ I rooted it, flashed CWM 6.0.3.2, wiped the phone and tried to flash the software. When I select it it says:

Sadly,I forgot to make a nandroid backup and now my phone only boots in CWM and Download Mode. What can I do?
Stupid title does not describe your problem.
What you can do is read the faqs and guides first or pay for a service repair .
Or you could ask where you got your instructions from as the firmware/ link is not XDA .
Hey,
Try flashing latest official cwm recovery fron their official site.
It should work.

Hey
Try these steps (after error comes)
1. Reboot recovery
2. Flash again
This worked on my sgs hopes it works for you..and also this happens due to kernel..

help!! how to manually install updates

Recently i got a softwre update(43.68 Mb) on my stock rooted Galaxy S Duos s7562. after I have downloaded the update it asked to update now or later.. when accepted to install now, It swittched off and opened in cwm recovery and said failed to verify signature of file.. istallation aborted.
-in which I disabled signature verification.. but after a few sec "signature check disabled" msg pops up..
does it mean I can flash the update file manually after moving it from ( /cache/ ) to my sdcard?? or it will cause any problem???
help guys!
The ota wont install because you have a custom recovery. Try to flash a stock recovery back and take the ota again.

That I can figure but signature check is disabled then why not installing.. and Can I just take the downloaded OTA update from /cache/ and install it in recovery?
I think you can, but if you can download the ota from xda and then move the zip over to the sd card that would be best. Also, I think the zip verification has to do with md5 hashes, and not with whether or not the ota will install. It may also be failing because of your modified system.

You could always stick the OTA on your hard drive from /cache/ and use adb sideload <file>

You need stock recovery to install the update.zip file. Use SP flash tools to reimage your phone back to S119_ROW then avail OTA updates in sequence like : S123_ROW then S124_ROW and then S220_ROW and finally S221_ROW
You can do the rooting extra after this. Do not install custom recovery before the final update.
