Last night I was sitting down onto "the thrown" withe the phone in my back pocket....it caught somehow and flipped into the bowl. Screen was off....I immediately put it in rice over night....7 hours later I tried it....no go. She's dead. Dead I tell you!
The first power up went OK....here was a weird couple beeps, but it powered up, then when the OS came up it seemed like there were buttons pressed because it started to wig out. I immediately pulled the battery....next powerup it wen right into bootloader mode......but my computer wouldn't recognize it....third power up it' dead.
Totally sucks.

When it first started having issues and you pulled the battery, you should have put it back in rice for another 8-12 hours.
You should have gave it 2-3 days to dry.

This is right.. If you have any chance of saving the phone, never power it on for a day or so. I don't think rice works that well, i've dropped many phones in water and the best way I have found to actually save the phone is to put the oven on a very low heat, put it in the oven w / the door open, and then let it sit for a day or two.
YMMV, but if you turn it on and it starts acting funky it is almost always 100% dead.
First Cut a hole in a box. ...
Put the phone in the box
And put a hairdryer on low for 6 or so hours.
It is one method used for "baking tape"

agreed, my oven has a warm setting that's about 160-200 degrees. Works well to dry out electronics.
take the phone apart
remove motherboard
clean all contacts with at least %90 alcohol.
put back together and you might be working again.

Bro got drunk at some Yahoo Fantasy Football event at his University and did a backflip into the pool with the Atrix I got him on Sunday (to think he's going to be a Doctor some day). ATT sent out a new Atrix and all that jazz, so I'm setting it back up (rerooting, titanium backup, etc).
Before he went to the party I was working on his phone and backed up everything with Titanium Backup and then made a copy of that backed up TB folder and added it to the micro SD card w/ all his media. That day after I punched him out (literally) I checked to see if the SIM card & micro SD card worked although they took major water damage. It turned out the SIM card was fine (tested it on my old Moto Backflip) but the micro SD card stopped working until I added into a micro SD adapter and I found all the files that got backed up.
I dragged all the Titanium Backup files into the new Atrix, but after I hit batch and try to restore everything under the restore tab is at 0. I checked to make sure the files I dragged into the hard drive of the phone after mounting and they are all there. The only thing is I see "?" before the name of the files in the file manager.
Was wondering if someone could help me figure out what the issue with TB is since it's not recognizing those files I backed up from his old Atrix on the new Atrix.
Thanks and yeah what a ****ty week, thank god for phone insurance (although it cost 125$ to get a new one)
Also, is there a way to access the hard drive on the phone also although it won't turn on? Probably not but thought I'd ask.
Edit: Here's the image of the question mark in the Atrix.
Edit x2: Link kinda big here's the url: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/120535/CIMG2157.JPG

in TB go to preferences and select back up location, then find your files and your done. run back up
i think he wants to restore, so go to 'restore folder' under settings and choose the folder u copied over
eh same thing. just gotta tell TB where your files are at in preferences /detect files....
Try putting the phone in rice If you didn't send it away that is. I had the same thing happen to my phone and since the rice fixed it, I was able to send the replacement phone back and save the $125.

Preferences > backup location > then hit the back button on the phone and it will back the folder up one at a time, then select sd card, then select TB
Nice that worked but I guess that's an old back up I did. Other then the rice method is there a way I can access the damaged phones folders?

Rice doesn't magically soak it up either. The rice won't absorb much water unless the phone is literally dripping wet.
Use silica gel packets instead. But them in bulk at a music shop.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Yes, silica is better for this situation, but rice is handy and often in the cabinet. Silica works better if you dont take your phone apart, but rice is an excellent alternative if you at least open up your phone at the screws. It may not seem like it, but rice does absorb moisture/water better than it appears.
I voided my warranty.

Blasphemy!
Now I am suspicious of the screen using so much power, and of the phones that are overheating. I was sitting on my couch watching the Bears disappoint me, and kept swiping my thumb upward on the screen as if I was unlocking it. To my surprise, without my fingers being anywhere close to the power buttons the screen turned on and unlocked! I have tried to re-create this and it only happens 1 out of every 10 or 15 times(swiping several times, not just once). If the screen is "off" it shouldn't be drawing any power, and therefor shouldn't come on like that. Might have found a bug! This also sort of leans on the volume bug!
i just tried 50 times and nothing happened.

lol, you never know!
On a serious note, got it a 4th time. I let the phone sit a while, picked it up and started swiping it. Maybe it has to do with the proximity sensor and/or accelerometer being active?

damn man, hate to say but maybe you've got a buggy phone..ive let mine sit fro like 20 min at a time, then i go back and try to do what you're doing..and no amount of touching or swiping wakes her up :\

I just tried this, screen is off, music through headphones, volume buttons work just fine. It's not all the way asleep if the music player is running. The iBeats buttons work when the screen is off, too. Although, if you pause for too long, it really does go to sleep, and then you can't un-pause without unlocking and hitting play.
Like 2 am last night, i was woken up the phone making a siren-like noise. I restarted the phone and it stopped. I tried to make a phone call this morning, and and phone started beeping again non-stop and is still going. I pulled the battery out, let it sit for 5 minute, put it make in and tried to make a call again, no difference. Started beeping again and still wont stop. Any body know what the hell is going on?

Did you try a complete wipe? It would suck I know, but you may have had an application go to crap on you. Example: Light Flow is great, but on our phones when the phone is off, it activates the solid green LED. It does this even after a restart. This is a known issue, but it was either force the program to shut down each time or uninstall it to fix it.

Did an ODIN restore to Stock Image w/root & bootloader unlocked preserved .
SUCCESS
Booted up and did minimal config. Checked email.. Surfed the web.... made a few calls and txt.
SUCCESS
Booted ClockworkMod Recovery and began install of JB 14....
HANG
Tried powering on the phone......... nothing
Tried CWM Recover boot... red light blinks every few seconds
Tried Download mode w/ODIN... nada ... faint red light blinks every few / 10 seconds.....
Battery was at 80% or so when I started CWM Flash.....
And there ya go... Glad I have insurance ?
Anyone got any ideas before I have to take a walk to the store and pickup a loaner? LOL
Just as an FYI:
This had NOTHING to do with the specific ROM..... It was some hiccup during the flash process in CWM... I've switched back and forth between every rom on here w/o a problem back and forth several times. I just must have angered the flash gods at some point today because all I get is a faint red flash on any power attempt (much like my Xyboard on a completely dead battery)..
I do however wonder if during the day while TMO ported my number from VZW that Verizon didnt send some death / self destruct code to my phone LOL

Completely cant find my 300K Resistors Off to RadioShack I go
Anyone around brooklyn with at RIFF or JTAG box?
I ended up going to my Local VZW Store (still under active contract for a few months) despite using TMo.
Told them I flashed back to Stock image.... then was loading a ROM again to remove bloatware and it went bananas on me. They looked up my acct ; I have been paying more then $200/mo for nearly 4 years now........ The rep was really knowledgeable about 3rd party ROMS/Rooting and said he would send me out a new phone tomorrow under extended warranty. Also said they just send it back to Samsung who just hardware flashes it and sends it ous as a REFURB unit since it was in literally MINT condition (Otterbox Defender) since Day 1.
Moral of the story: Was honest and expected nothing other then a "sorry buddy... you are out of luck" .. told him the truth and got a replacement (he even switched my titanium grey to white on the replacement). Didn't file a bogus insurance claim and the rep who is an asst mgr at the store was an ACE. If their costs monthly weren't so high I would be inclined to stay with VZW; but a few lines for me the wife and my kids on there is giving me an unnecessary beating to the tune of 2X my TMO costs.
For all the misgivings about VZW ...... I have to say its not the company........ Its being lucky enough to get a rep that isnt a hardon and appreciated me not giving him BS.
+1 VZW assoc mgr man.

Def was too weird AND out of left field. I even pulled out the soldering gun and sacrificed 2 usb cables and made a 300K Ohm and 301K Ohm jig and still nothing. Short of a full on JTAG / RIFF / Medusa attempt I don't think there is hope for this thing.Emmc sudden death seems possible at the most inopportune time; but it may just as easily be a power circuit failure based on what I am seeing with the meter and three batteries.

Hello, I read that sometimes the touch screen do not behavior the way it should be. For example, touching it does not lead to the right response while sometimes the device responded without the user touching the screen. Has that issue been fixed yet?
happens only if u r using a cheap charger.
I don't have a huge issue, or an issue at all, but i just came home and i noticed that my Ultra doesn't like low temperatures. It's 4 C here and after i came home, i noticed that the screen was "ghosting", i.e the screen lagged behind when i swiped, like a shadow. It stopped after a minute, but come on.. 4 C isn't that cold. Electronics should easily handle down to -20 C without any issues.
I had major phantom clicks until. 290 rom, now have hardly any at all.

Phone badly ghost clicks if screen gets vapour on screen say if just woke up at night it's abit cold but hot air makes vapour come on screen. The screen goes mental then. Or if you have a dirty mark on screen like finger print. If you turn screen on it tries pressing different things where that mark is. This is only phone I've had problems with. I've never had a screen protector on it I expected the factory one to stand up to job but it is shockingly sh**. I don't want to remove it myself though. I want to try Sony in UK see if they will change it. And where I was always using micro Usb to charge as that is most usual basic way. The plastic seal has pulled off. Tbf in the couple months I've had it I've liked it. But would much rather have the htc one max
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
God damn it.. It happened again. I was out walking for like 20 minutes and the screen started to act up again.. A reboot didn't solve it until Android was fully booted, so I'm not sure what the issue might be. It can't seriously be the temperature. It's a couple of degrees (Celsius) here today and sunny, and electronics should easily handle above zero temperatures. Heck, it should handle -20.
I'm going to do a factory reset and put it in the freezer for 10 minutes and see what happens
The annoying part is that Sony has a repair center only 15 minutes from here, but I called them and they don't have the right equipment to repair waterproof phones. They can open it, but they can seal it again, so they would basically void my warranty when they fixed it.

It came back after 10 minutes in the freezer, and I managed to take some pictures of it.

Well, yes and no Mine doesn't shut down or anything, but the screen simply washes out (like in the pics). It's back to normal after about a minute though, but it's really annoying. It doesn't even happen at temperatures as low as -20/-30, but 0-5 degress (celsius) (32 to 41 F). Hassan (our ZU Canadian) has even used his Ultra in -30 without any issues, so i guess mine's defective. That was what the support dude said at least (something something about a display part not being properly something something).
I really really don't want to be without it for like 4 weeks, but i don't know if i can live with this. Granted, the temperatures outside will rise pretty soon-ish, but i'll always know that the poor little fella is freezing its pixels off whenever i open a refrigerator
