Hello, I read that sometimes the touch screen do not behavior the way it should be. For example, touching it does not lead to the right response while sometimes the device responded without the user touching the screen. Has that issue been fixed yet?
happens only if u r using a cheap charger.
I don't have a huge issue, or an issue at all, but i just came home and i noticed that my Ultra doesn't like low temperatures. It's 4 C here and after i came home, i noticed that the screen was "ghosting", i.e the screen lagged behind when i swiped, like a shadow. It stopped after a minute, but come on.. 4 C isn't that cold. Electronics should easily handle down to -20 C without any issues.
I had major phantom clicks until. 290 rom, now have hardly any at all.

Thanks. Do I have to root the phone to resolve the issues?
How the charger affect such behavior?

Ah yes, Canada I've used it out in the cold before, but the thing that happened today hasn't happened before, so it's a little strange. It's still winter though, so we'll see if it happens again.

Phone badly ghost clicks if screen gets vapour on screen say if just woke up at night it's abit cold but hot air makes vapour come on screen. The screen goes mental then. Or if you have a dirty mark on screen like finger print. If you turn screen on it tries pressing different things where that mark is. This is only phone I've had problems with. I've never had a screen protector on it I expected the factory one to stand up to job but it is shockingly sh**. I don't want to remove it myself though. I want to try Sony in UK see if they will change it. And where I was always using micro Usb to charge as that is most usual basic way. The plastic seal has pulled off. Tbf in the couple months I've had it I've liked it. But would much rather have the htc one max
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
God damn it.. It happened again. I was out walking for like 20 minutes and the screen started to act up again.. A reboot didn't solve it until Android was fully booted, so I'm not sure what the issue might be. It can't seriously be the temperature. It's a couple of degrees (Celsius) here today and sunny, and electronics should easily handle above zero temperatures. Heck, it should handle -20.
I'm going to do a factory reset and put it in the freezer for 10 minutes and see what happens
The annoying part is that Sony has a repair center only 15 minutes from here, but I called them and they don't have the right equipment to repair waterproof phones. They can open it, but they can seal it again, so they would basically void my warranty when they fixed it.

It came back after 10 minutes in the freezer, and I managed to take some pictures of it.

Well, yes and no Mine doesn't shut down or anything, but the screen simply washes out (like in the pics). It's back to normal after about a minute though, but it's really annoying. It doesn't even happen at temperatures as low as -20/-30, but 0-5 degress (celsius) (32 to 41 F). Hassan (our ZU Canadian) has even used his Ultra in -30 without any issues, so i guess mine's defective. That was what the support dude said at least (something something about a display part not being properly something something).
I really really don't want to be without it for like 4 weeks, but i don't know if i can live with this. Granted, the temperatures outside will rise pretty soon-ish, but i'll always know that the poor little fella is freezing its pixels off whenever i open a refrigerator

Now I am suspicious of the screen using so much power, and of the phones that are overheating. I was sitting on my couch watching the Bears disappoint me, and kept swiping my thumb upward on the screen as if I was unlocking it. To my surprise, without my fingers being anywhere close to the power buttons the screen turned on and unlocked! I have tried to re-create this and it only happens 1 out of every 10 or 15 times(swiping several times, not just once). If the screen is "off" it shouldn't be drawing any power, and therefor shouldn't come on like that. Might have found a bug! This also sort of leans on the volume bug!
i just tried 50 times and nothing happened.

I have only successfully gotten it to happen 3 times. All of which where after the phone had been idle for a decent amount of time.

Yea, I didn't even notice it happened at first until I realized I didn't push the lock button. I keep trying to get it to work again.

On a serious note, got it a 4th time. I let the phone sit a while, picked it up and started swiping it. Maybe it has to do with the proximity sensor and/or accelerometer being active?

damn man, hate to say but maybe you've got a buggy phone..ive let mine sit fro like 20 min at a time, then i go back and try to do what you're doing..and no amount of touching or swiping wakes her up :\
Damn my phone! Ok, since both the issues my device has are minute and no one seems to be able to recreate them, I am going to ride it out.

Seriously tried it for 10 minutes straight and couldn't do it. Are you sure that you are not receiving a notification that is waking it up at the same time you are testing it?

I just tried this, screen is off, music through headphones, volume buttons work just fine. It's not all the way asleep if the music player is running. The iBeats buttons work when the screen is off, too. Although, if you pause for too long, it really does go to sleep, and then you can't un-pause without unlocking and hitting play.
Last night I was sitting down onto "the thrown" withe the phone in my back pocket....it caught somehow and flipped into the bowl. Screen was off....I immediately put it in rice over night....7 hours later I tried it....no go. She's dead. Dead I tell you!
The first power up went OK....here was a weird couple beeps, but it powered up, then when the OS came up it seemed like there were buttons pressed because it started to wig out. I immediately pulled the battery....next powerup it wen right into bootloader mode......but my computer wouldn't recognize it....third power up it' dead.
Totally sucks.

This is right.. If you have any chance of saving the phone, never power it on for a day or so. I don't think rice works that well, i've dropped many phones in water and the best way I have found to actually save the phone is to put the oven on a very low heat, put it in the oven w / the door open, and then let it sit for a day or two.
YMMV, but if you turn it on and it starts acting funky it is almost always 100% dead.
First Cut a hole in a box. ...
Put the phone in the box
And put a hairdryer on low for 6 or so hours.

Dear Big Phone Niche Market Like Minded Friends,
I have had my Ultra for about a week now. I love it! With non-removable battery, I have formed a habit of plugging in my phone wherever possible...at my office, at home, first thing I do when I enter my car. If I keep a count, it would be like more than 20 times per day. Each time, removing and reinserting the USB cap.
My concern is whether that USB cap is going to fall off soon? Anyone know how sturdy or resilience that little string that connect the cap to the phone?
That string seems to be such 20th century solution, no?

You should check your phone. Charging 20 times per day is insane. The phone should get you at least 4 hours of screen time. Assuming you don't do anything else but use your phone since you love it so much, you should only be charging a maximum of 4 times a day assuming charging takes 2hours since your using the phone at the same time. 20 times a day means your phone is probably always plugged in already.
I suggest having it exchanged.

I didn't have this habit with any one my previous battery removable phones.....it just all started with the HTC One (non-removable battery)

It only cost HK$50 (US$6.4) to replace the cap here in Hong Kong's Sony repair centre, so its pretty in-expensive.
this is why I bought the charging station before the cellphone itself !!!

I got my magnetic cable today. It's a perfect solution. Thank you for suggesting it.
Out of curiosity, what would happen if I charge the phone simultaneously using both the magnetic connector and the micro USB?
(a) The phone would implode, vaporize, and generate a wormhole causing a temporal shift
(b) The phone will be charged up faster
(c) The phone will be charged up at regular rate
Thanks in advance.

So for the past 4 days, my device often wont stop thinking its charging. So what I mean is that I'll plug it in (USB or Magdock) and it will charge normally. I'll unplug it, and the battery symbol and LED will still says its charging.
Once this happens, it will only charge off the magnetic dock.. So plugging in USB wont work, and no charge will occur. Its mental eh!
Its happened since I started using the magnetic dock.
What i've noticed is that reversing the magnetic charger cable, will make the device realise its not on charge. My laptop will also display a message saying that the... " USB device has been disabled due to excessive drain"
so somethings not right.
EDIT:
I have unlocked my bootload,
rooted,
flashed stock Sony ROM (with modified kernel)
flashed CM10.3...
Still doing it. Most def. is a hardware fault... SOB!

With the galaxy note this would happen if the USB port got any dirt in it. First place to check if you experience this. Take a cotton bud and some pure alcohol and while the phone is off, gently clean the pins then leave it to dry for a few minutes before turning it on. Dirt or dust can cause the pins to short and think it's charging.

Yeah that was the first thing I tried. However it happens on both USB, and MagDOCK, so its not a dust issue. There must be a hardware sensor that detects amp flow into the device, and must be a fault when amp flow is reduced/stopped.
ok so update.

I've just been given two non functional i9300's for free, to see if i can repair them.
both have cracked screens, one appears to have water damage.
i've tested with spare batteries, and neither powers on, nor do they show up in windows when connected by USB.
whats the bare minimum we need for these to power on and be detected by windows, so i can determine if the logic boards in these even work?

yeah thats the same situation i'm in.
at the very least, one of the boards is showing 5W of power consumption when connected to a wall charger (which is connected to a power meter).
since the battery is charging, that implies something is working - but i'm getting nothing on the screen and not hearing sounds out of the speaker.

i cant tell which board came from which shell unfortunately, however this board/battery is charging in the water damaged shell, but showing 0W in the 'clean' shell.
backwards to what i'd expect. maybe this ones just a dead screen, and the other has some more serious, but better hidden damage.
edit: the 'water damaged' shell + board had a red charging LED show up, that went away when i hit the power button. didnt power on after that/the touchscreen buttons dont light up when touched.
edit 2: with my good battery the LED went blue and the backlit buttons lit up. i think this hardware combo works, and i just need a new LCD - will trst it out with MHL and see if that works...

looks like this combo just needs a digitiser + LCD, despite getting an image on screen i cant control it in any way.
thanks for the help jelly, you at least helped me think this one through and come up with viable testing methods.

Welcome
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
so using that test above (wall meter then MHL) i've confirmed that one board works, one doesnt. in either frame one board lights up the LED and the other doesnt draw any power or give any sign of life (assuming this is the water damaged one)
i've got one of everything (front + back camera module, speaker etc) literally all im missing is a LCD screen.
to ebay i go, this has been a good day
this just got hilariously fun.
i ended up temporarily using the LCD + digitiser from my i9305 (it works but hte back panel cant be closed) to sync up a bluetooth mouse to the phone.
now i can use it as a bluetooth controlled HTPC
