CWM (clockworkmod) is a recovery. Used to flash zips and ROMS. The procedure to get it is device specific. Check it in ur forum. It needs root.
Ps - I believe u r using moto Xoom. Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979 read through the instructions carefully before attempting anything. I ain't responsible if u mess up.!

He wants to backup his Rom before he roots it/install a recovery.

Nothing will happen. Just do it!

My Backup
I believe there is a version of MyBackup that does not require root. It's a 30 day free trial. However, it may not be able to backup all of your apps and or data.

Where do I get that version? The 1 I got from Google Play DOES:!

build.prop

Hello people!
I'm with a big problem here. First, I'm a newbie on Android, but I searched a lot before do this question. Ok, I bought a SGSIII some days ago, and I did a root on it. So, I wanted to change the resolution of cell phone: I edited build.prop to 240DPI, and rebooted the phone.
But so, Samsung's TouchWiz stopped working! And I can't access Root Explorer anymore... I installed Android Tools on my PC, and I tried to push, remount, use adb shell (+su, +mount on system partition), but nothing works. I ALWAYS find a new error. For example, after mount the partition in the shell (and exit, of course), I got "Permission denied" on adb push. Just see:

Adb remount command won't work unless you flash an insecure kernel or use insecure adbd app from chainfire. If you can boot into your mobile and getting launcher force crash better push a secondary launcher app like apex or nova via Adb and reboot now use the second launcher to make changes. Stock launcher will jot work @ 240 dpi

i think this is the best option...
get any flashable zip..uynzipit and look at it...youl qquickly get where to put build.prop and what to modify... then compress it (without the old signature) again and sign it
launcher keep crushing because stock touchwizz doesn't support another dpi. you should mod it or find one moded

My rom does not work.

i use dsixda's Android Kitchen build rom.the resource is from RUU.
it can't flash to my phone with ClockworkMod_Recovery_6.0.2.7.when it is begin, the phone reboot.
Now i use ClockworkMod_Recovery_6.0.2.8, it works well
Honestly it could be any number of problems. I have found that its some what easier to flash the RUU root the RUU then use adb pull and pull everything from the phone then build the ROM from that. Just my 2 cents.

Ill never understand the mentality if people like this. My school is full of kids who ask how to do everything instead of doing their own research.
Most of the time, the information is already available to them from material right in front of their noses. Yet they still want to be spoon fed.

How much experience do you have in java? I'm guessing none. I've been into android for about 4 years (theming), learning java for over a year and I still won't attempt to dev a Rom. In other words, really learn this stuff before you brick your phone or worse, someone else's phone. If you can't debug your own work, you're a lost cause.

first you have to root it with Odin....
you need this... http://go.android-hilfe.de/v1/redir...n.html&cache=6M7D92TQIROG9CER78KG5PRCFURLI7CP
and this https://androidfirmwares.net/Tools/Download/8
start odin.... choose PDA and the File you download: CF-Root-SGS3-vX.X.tar
start your S3 with Power+Home+Volume Down.... and the security question you answer with Volume up
dont forget to connect USB Cabel
look at the Picture... it must be all like that

Lol, that's what I'm trying to figure out, what exactly you're trying to do. If you don't like TB, then you could always go into your system/app folder and copy the apks and save them to your SD card one by one.

I guess I don't understand what it is you are asking exactly. My interpretation is that you want to have a way to install your current apps AFTER you do a full wipe install(which would delete said apps), without having to order them all again. If that's the case, my advice, pull the apk from system/app, system/data/app, or system/preload/app and save them to a folder on your SD card. Then just install them from there after the fresh install. If that's not what you meant, my apologies.

No solution 2 month later? I'm searching for this too cause every full whipe later my sort is gone, i want my folders back as i created them
i get your question,, but afaik, with new TB, you can restore the apps order. but dont ask me how to in TB setting, i dont know buddy. i just backup,, then after restore,, all apps go back into their place, plus settings, plus the order in every pages.
