Little help guys. Question about 4g/LTE - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I live in the Miami/ft Lauderdale FL area. I own a galaxy s3 on sprint and in several areas I'm getting a strong 4g signal and its awesome. Sprint has not officially announced 4g down here so I assume they're testing and I'm lucky enough to pick up the signal. Anyway, my wife has an evo 4g lte on sprint (obviously) and she has yet to see 4g at all. I rooted her phone a while back and installed meanrom (I believe the version is 5.5). Additionally, her baseband is 1.12.11.0809. Any ideas on what I need up do to get her on the 4g signals when they pop up, like me?

go to settings>mobile data>Network mode> and make sure its states "LTE/CDMA". if its already on that setting, you might want to upgrade the firmware to the newest jelly bean base which you can get here: http://d-h.st/5D5 after your dirty racun aka get S-off here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1964309
after i upgraded my firmware i started picking up 4g at my house and local bar.
if this helps you please hit the thanks button

Can u update firmware without s-off? Has the s-off method become more "reliable"? A few months back I owned an evo 4g/lte and the lazy panda s-off method was bricking a few phones.
Thanks for the help, BTW.

Yes, you can update the firmware by taking the OTA jellybean from sprint but I would not advise this. dirty racun is much safer than lazy panda method of which you speak IMO and S-off makes things so much easier going forward. Get S-off, update the firmware with this download http://d-h.st/5D5 in hboot and install a new JB based rom.

You can't flash radios at this time without s-off which we do not have.
so no way to insert the older radio into the newer RUU and have it flash? or maybe a way to flash the older RUU
since that will flash the radio to the one i need (old one)
* if there is ANY way to get back to the old radio i need it cause this new radio is 150% **** for me i am gonna return this phone if i cant go back its that bad

Unlocking does not neccesarily void the warranty, it says it "may" void the warranty. If the the problem wasnt caused by something i did to the phone, then it most likely will still be warrantied

I don't understand. Does that mean Sprint will be releasing an update soon that will update us to that radio then? Or do we have RUU to get it? My radio is 1.02.12.0427.

Should this really be posted here? It looks to me like a Chinese version of our phone will be coming out (hence the HTCCN). If it was for the Sprint version, wouldn't it have Sprint in the filename? I'd hate to have someone install it and brick their phone from the incompatible radio. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

He made a very good point. Don't get too excited guys. This is mainly for ROM chefs to poke around and extract anything useful. I'm sure it won't even let us flash the software, since we're not s-off and it's not for Sprint.

The short answer is no. Sprint has not released their ICS update yet. However, Virgin Mobile (a Sprint subsdiary) has. You can download ROMs based off of that firmware. I hear derpICS is pretty popular.
However, I personally recommend CM9 Devil Toast. I much prefer the CyanogenMod experiance compared to an HTC Sense-based one. But feel free to try out both and find out what works best for you. A word of caution, though: (almost) all the ROMs you will find on this forum are geared towards Sprint. I'd be careful about using them with another carrier.
And finally, this topic you started should really go in the Q&A section.
All of the information above assumes you have a CDMA device. If you're international and your Evo 3D does not have Sprint written right below the front facing camera, it's entirely possible that you have a GSM version, in which case I suggest you check out over here: EVO 3D GSM Android Development.

Yes you can update your 3d when sprint releases it though you are on another carrier .
But just to be safe , make a backup of all your EVO 3d carrier settings, prl etc using CDMA WORKSHOP or QPST . I too took the previous OTA updates and to my knowledge they don't touch your carrier settings .
Make sure you backup MMS settings too..

My only concern is that if the phone is abroad, it will not receive the ota since you are not on Sprint towers (right?).
EDIT: You do get OTAs even if you are out of country. Good to know. Thanks mnomaanw!

TMO HTC One converted to GPe, LTE question

hello,
I converted my tmobile htc one into a google play edition a few days ago and for the most part i have no complaints. however, a few days ago i noticed that i wasnt able to pick up an lte signal. I'm not sure what is going on here. I'm on the southern california area(riverside) is the lte down or something. it was working perfectly a few days after i converted my one to the GPe so i don't think this could be a problem. I was thinking of running an RUU back to stock to try and see but i dont know what to do. Any ideas??
Do you still have the T-Mobile radio, or is it now switched to the GP radio firmware?

did you convert your htc one to a GPe? i have done everything but a reset which i might do. it also might be the signal might be down in my area. i had this problem happen before earlier in the year with my note 2 i didn't have lte yet but i didn't have any hspa service for two days so it could be that but since i converted my one i hope its not something hardware related
Good question. Though I'd give a t-mo radio flash a try. It's easy enough to flash back.

yeah i suppose so. as of the moment i'm not rooted or anything. I'm however still S-OFF. Would I have to install a custom recovery and then flash the tmobile radio?
You should be able to fast boot it. I'd look for a good guide in the HTC One international forums.
I'm rooted w custom recovery, so it's a bit easier for me.

Update: So i just went to Target which is about 6 miles from my house and I got LTE just fine so maybe it might be just a tower by my area that isn't working. I might just wait this out then idk i might flash the radio and see what happens

LTE Signal gone? Help please!

Hello, I havent been active here for a while.
I am running the latest Mean BEAN Rom on my Sprint HTC EVO LTE.
Havnt had any problems, so i havent moved to a new rom yet.
Recently though i feel like I am having connectivity issues. For i.e. at my work I only get data signal If i choose "ONLY CDMA" and not "CDMA or LTE".
So somehing seems to be up with LTE. I should have a LTE signal there...
Right know i can only get DATA if i leave it on CDMA only... I want LTE
I also just did factory reset and put Mean BEAN Rom back on ...
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!

I sure wish I knew. I'm running a CM 10.2 nightly and haven't had GPS navigation or LTE for a few weeks now. I'm a total noob at all of this, so I really don't know where to turn. I'm s-on for some stupid reason. I saw somewhere that you need to be s-off in order to fix this stuff, but I don't know how to go s-off...and believe me, I've tried. I also noticed that there have been no nightlies released since the 11th and my updater hasn't been able to download and install the newest nightly. I just keep getting install errors. Perhaps someone can direct me to a decent nightly build I can use as a daily driver until a RC or Stable build is released?
