I flashed a kernel today (was an update avaible) and I did this for some time now withouth any problems. But now, a problem
I'm stuck on the HTC splash screen, I use smarthflash from 4xt recovery and that WAS working great but now it isn't anymore what can I do ?
to be clear:
I'm s-ON I'm using smartflash from 4xt and it worked always. What I did:
I downloaded the update, went to the recovery, flashed it and then I removed cache and dalvik, reboot. I waited for over 1 hour it was still on the HTC boot screen .
I remove the battery. Wiped the whole phone (all partitions) I restored a backup that I made a few weeks ago, still the same!
I tried reflashing a whole new rom. Same
Reflashing other kernels > SAME!
Fastboot the boot > SAME!
Now I'm at a lost.... what can I do other then trow it away? I'm on hboot 1.53.xxx should I s-off should that help? I check a lot of guids but all of them require you to be in the rom it self....
I found this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28131331
But when I run:
controlbear.exe as administrator it doesn't find my phone but ADB does find it when doing adb devices.... (I guess this only works when you are in the rom it self)
Did you try flash boot.img via adb?
Or to run a ruu?
1.53 can cause problems, if you manage to s-off it, you should flash a 1.49 version, that should be the best one for gsm...
Have you tried running a stock ruu.exe? That would take you back to stock, which is needed for wire trick (s-off) anyways. Make sure to relock bootloader before running ruu.exe

Thanks for the help guys!
I didn't run any RUU just yet.... will try this tomorrow
Herman, thanks tomorrow I will run the RUU
I have downloaded:
Code:
RUU_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.28.401.1_Radio_11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_262714_signed
I asume this is the correct one (I'm unbranded and I live in Europe)
Also I tried relocking the boot loader (fastboot eom lock) but it still says that I'm unlocked in the bootloader..... I did:
fastboot oem writecid HTC__001
Then I got an error that said that it failed with to many links (like wtf?) and running it again gave no errors, and after running the lock it said that the device is locked BUT it's still showing unlocked in the bootloader after a reboot
btw can reflashing the recovery help...?
Reflashing the recovery may help. I'd definitely give that a try first. It can't hurt.

Trying to root using HTC 1.5 with no success.
Hi to all I have tried to root using the HTC boot unlocker with no success. I was using the step by step instructions from HTC evo hacks. I got to the step at the command prompt where I put in the unlock code and I got this : C:\rootevo3dnew>fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.152s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
(bootloader) unlock token check successfully
OKAY [ 0.007s]
finished. total time: 0.161s
The phone screen asking me to unlock the bootloader never came up. Any help would be appreciated. BTW I have rooted at least 7 EVO 3D's. with no problems.
I'm stumped.

See the Guide/flashing Notes in my signature. You need to rerun the currently installed "FULL" Ruu or the the Latest RUU, then the unlock will work.
I did the HTCDev and unlocked it went to thread on downgrade from 1.5 hboot to 1.4 tried that and it did not work. I went to try the wire trick and this is what I get when I try to use the controlbear. the phone connects and goes through process but says the following...
======== ControlBear 0.6 beta for JuopunutBear S-OFF ==========
Starting up......
Connecting to device...
Searching device.....
Found device.....but device has no root!!
Press ENTER to exit.....
Any help would be helpful I have tried superuser but wont install, tried rootevo3dnew, temproot sensation Ect. everything says I need to be rooted.
I am running stock rom that shipped with phone and yes I did updates. I am Sprint CDMA 2.17 rom shipped, 1.5 Hboot. I have flashed roms and modded before but dont consider myself to be advanced. I have done flashing and installing roms with my old HTC Touch pro2 but alot easier on touch pro2 LOL... Ok, let's make sure we know where you are at to start with. When you use the vol and power button to boot to fastboot, does the phone show "unlocked". If not, I think you need to do the htc method again. I have not kept up recently, but I am not sure there is any method other than the HTC method that works every time for 1.5. I have used the HTC method on two phones without a problem, so that is the method I use.
Once you get that far, I used adb to push or flash the twrp image into the recovery section of the phone. Then you should be able to flash superuser via the install menu of twrp. There are threads that have detailed explanations on how this is done.
Yea, I had a bit of a learning curve from my TP2 also, but love this phone!

In my post Ive included a flashable SuperSU zip. What youll need to do is boot to recovery and install this zip. Then reboot. You should have superuser access then.
Still learning this forum so excuse any errors I make. I've spent the last 10 hours trying to fix the mess I created on my wife's Evo 3d. I was able to root my phone and it was relatively easy so I tackled hers as well and have gotten a bootloop I cannot figure out, 10 hours later. I'm on hboot 1.5. I unlocked the phone (using a pretty reliable video), loaded 4EXT Recovery then tried to load roms. Everything worked fine until the rom-loading portion. Since then, the phone loops, but once or twice it made it all the way to the main screen and before I could slide the ring, a read error message appeared next to the bars of service then the phone just completely reboots. Right now, the only thing I can get into is the bootloader and the clockworkmod v4.0.1.4, somehow I lost my 4EXT Recovery. I'm stuck and in dire straights as my wife is going out of town and will KILL me if I don't fix her phone. Please help! BTW, somehow I managed to NOT back anything up (stupidity on my part). Will I be able to get this thing back to stock at least or is it now a paperweight?

Your not bricked by any means. And Im going to guess you tried to boot an ICS rom.. dont. They dont work with hboot 1.5. If you really want to go back to stock run the 2.17 RUU and youll be back to where you started. Another option is to download a GB rom and flash that. Not ICS. If your able to get to the bootloader than you can still load up 4ext recovery so you can flash the GB rom.
Edit: some hboot 1.5 users are lucky and can flash them if they used the correct VM firmware but majority of users have problems.

Thanks, I just tried flashing a rom that has taken it back to stock but I'm still in the bootloop. Should I stop flashing and simply locate the RUU?
22410,
It sounds like the kernel did not flash correctly with 4ext Recovery (next time, make sure u indicat S-on in its settings). I'm not sure if you were just stock 2.17 rooted or not, but use 7zip on your pc to open & extract/copy out the "boot.img" file from the rom, zip, etc you were using and copy it to your fastboot pc folder. Still have the Cwm 4.0.1.4 recovery.IMG file there too right (or the 4ext recovery.img file)? Ok...
- put phone in fastboot usb mode
From PC's fastboot command prompt type:
- " fastboot flash boot boot.img "
(this will reflash the kernel/boot image extracted from a rom)
If your recovery is screwed up:
- " fastboot flash recovery YourRecoveryFilename.img "
(ie: cwm_4.0.1.4_recovery.img or recovery.img, etc as listed in fastboot folder, to reflash a recovery to your phone).
With S-on, to properly enter a recovery for flashing ANYTHING you must:
- " fastboot boot YourRecoveryFilename.img "
(doesn't apply if using 4ext's Smartflash or TWRP's Dumlock settings. But you must have a bootable android OS/kernel first, once the flash is screwed it won't work).
If u have a Sprint CDMA EVO3D/HTC Unlocked & S-on (not Jbear s-Off), then the guide in my signature has more info.
Edit: as NIN said you will likely have problems flashing ICS roms with S-on (hboot version doesn't matter). If u are still unlocked & have a working recovery u can flash any gb Rom successfully after wiping system, data, & cache (or run superwipe zip). Meanrom GB v4.5 recommended.

It's not technically a RUU but yeah since you're s-off you can flash it. If you're looking to just get the firmware you can flash the separately also.
yes

Did you flash the ZIP file twice in a row? Apparently flashing the PHXXXXX.zip files for ICS don't install everything completely the first time around, you need to do it twice to have a complete install.
It did install twice. I bought this phone used and it already was unlocked with s-off but wifi wasnt working. I was able to flash the gb ruu and the phone is working again but wifi is still broke. I really need somebody that knows what they are doing to tell me what the person before me did. I have had no success flashing other roms either.
Do a factory reset. That should clear up the wifi issue.
I did that with no luck.

Yes you can flash the RUU. Then after that use the jbear modified hboot and you can flash kernels and recoveries via fastboot without having to unlock the bootloader.
I already tried flashing the newest ics ruu and my phone would just keep rebooting from the white HTC screen. I even tried a factory reset.
Every rom I try to flash I just get boot loops. I just installed clean rom with gingerbread patch and it will boot up, then restart, then act like it is going to work and then restart. It even gets to activating and then just keeps rebooting.
The bootloop sounds like a kernel issue, but if you are installing the RUU it should be fine. Maybe you have a bad download. Did you check the MD5?
I've tried multiple ways of returning to stock, including PJ75IMG.zip and running the RUU for my version. TWRP won't let me flash anything I've tried and they all fail. Update your twrp to 2.3.3.0 or if you want to return to stock you have to relock your bootloader
Sent from my PoS MoPho
TWRP won't take the update for whatever reason, and I can't get fastboot to work over this machine, so I'm thinking about running linux to get into the phone a little easier (hopefully.) I either have to wait til I can use my roommates machine, or start installing a dual boot
Have you tried goomanager to update twrp?
Yea, it downloads the file, gives a message stating it has been installed, then it does nothing. No reboot. when I manually reboot into recovery, it still sits at previous version.
Do you have adb setup on your PC? Also do you have the correct drivers installed ?

Ok, so finally got my fastboot to work

Worked. Awesome...now it's stuck in a bootloader loop. Won't let me into recovery, but I can still get to fastboot. I can't get to recovery, factory reset, etc. just hboot and fastboot.

Any ideas? I can get it to flash the PJ75IMG.zip but it says main version is older! or something to that effect and it fails. Any ideas?

No, but I was wondering if I could flash things in that state. Since it wasn't moving past bootloader I wasn't sure if I should try anything. Is stock recovery effected by anything like software version?

Well since you are s-on you can't flash PJ75IMG files from bootloader if you want to update your phone to the latest OTA you have to relock your bootloader and reflash the stock recovery and take the OTA then unlock and flash twrp again.

First of all, you must be on stock rom. Every sense 3.6 based rom should work. Did you run ControlBear as administrator?
If you did, run murder.bat from the attached .rar as administrator, wait till it's done. Try again. Still not working? Extract all the files from the rar to a folder. Run controlbear from there (run as admin). Give me feedback if it worked!
Edit: I have to upload the file somewhere else, it's over 8 mb so cant upload here.
Here's the link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-fWg2dqIcnRT0xSZUdnVFRHeVk/edit?usp=sharing
Also It's a good idea to disable antivirus. I always do it as a precaution so I don't screw up anything.
If you need to know, the bat file searces for processes that may be interfering with controlbear and kills them.
Also none of this is my work, so all the thanks go to unlimited team.

I unlocked with htcdev my bootloader, 4ext recovery installed, rooted. "Still not found device" etc... Any suggestion? I installed all drivers, fastboot/adb works fine. I installed mwakious3Drom 16.0.150_BASE_FINAL_RELEASE rom on my phone, is this the problem?

You need to go stock ROM first and then try s-off

Thanks for your reply, how can I go to stock ICS? Which RUU I must pick to flash? I'm from Greece. (GSM Model)
If I keep a Nandroid, can I restore it after s-off with wiping the stock rom? Or I must start from the begining?
Well, in theory any sense 3.6 based roms should work. Not sure about mwakiousrom though. To go completely stock you must flash a ruu as far as im concerned. Just download the appropriate ics RUU. Link
Since you are s on, lock bootloader with"fastboot oem lock". Run RUU. It will take a long time to finish. After that you must unlock bootloader from htcdev. Flash recovery. And finally, do the wire trick. After wire trick flash hboot 1.49. Link. You need to format all partitions except sd card after hboot change.
You can get the correct Europe ICS RUU from here -> http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/sec...00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_262714_signed.exe

I will do it with revolutionary because I know how revolutionary works (old Desire Z user ) but I need to downgrade hboot. In theory can I get a nandroid and restore after all this? Or the rom should be unstable?
You can restore stuff from a nandroid using this app
It restores apps/data, wifi settings, sms etc. It will require you to have a rooted rom. So in theory after you have done the wire trick you can flash a rooted rom and restore important stuff with this app

Another backup option
And just a reminder, wire trick sometimes corrupts sdcards. so save your backups before doing wire trick
Oh, your on hboot 1.49? Revolutionary tools needs 1.49 afaik. If so, get the gb RUU.

I'm downloading the GB RUU, I think...
Code:
RUU_Shooter_U_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.2_Radio_10.53.9020.00_10.13.9020.08_2M_release_203403_signed.exe
is that right?
and one last thing, I think my mobile is vodafone branded, CID VODAP102.
then you should flash a vodafone ruu. And what hboot do you have? you cant run a GB ruu on a phone with the ics bootloader(1.53)

Gosh. Maybe there is a way, but i am not aware of it. It is certainly a lot more easier to do the wire trick.

Then I'm going to make the wire trick, just hoping the ics ruu will work to get stock back. How much fool am I?
EDIT: The
Code:
RUU_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.28.401.1_Radio_11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_262714_signed
RUU doesn't work, It reads the software info, I press start and nothing happens to my phone.
Before I start off, let me just say that I've searched around for a few days now and have not been able to find a fix for this.
I'm on a TMO HTC one with s-on. My phone was rooted and unlocked. To take the update for 4.3 I relocked my phone (it says relocked on the bootloader screen). I have tried running both RUUs for 1.27.531.11 and 3.24.531.3. I have tried running them from fastboot on the hboot screen and from just having the phone on. I have checked within fastboot (fastboot devices) and my computer does see my phone attached. I run the RUU and both versions get stuck on "sending." I have let them run for hours and still nothing. I have also redownloaded the files thinking maybe something was corrupt.
I'm at a loss here. I have no idea what to do at this point and any help would be appreciated.
I also just found out I cannot do a factory reset or enter recovert from hboot if this helps with anything.

I'm no pro, but do you have stock recovery installed? I think if you're s-on you have to be locked/relocked with stock recovery. That's my only suggestion, good luck.

When I was originally playing around with it I did not. I played around some more today and I have a stock recovery flashed now for my device. I was getting the red triangle when I try to enter recovery, or take the 4.3 update. The thing that finally worked was running the new RUU in fastboot.
