[Q] broken charging port - HTC Titan

Hello,
so my the charging port on my HTC Titan, got shorted out some how and would only accept like 1 charger. So i called HTC support and they said that it was covered under the warranty and that they would fix it. I send it in and about a week later they call me and say that the phone had damage not covered by the warranty and they sent to back to me; unfixed. When i get the phone back the USB port has not been fixed(like they said) but the power button is broken(it was not when i sent it in).
i am trying to update to 7.8 tango, and not having a working usb port is making it nearly impossible. So, my question to you, XDA friends, is does anyone know a way to fix the port, or possibly have one that has a cracked screen or is not working in some way that they could sell me for parts, i checked ebay, but most of the broken titans are titan 2's.
any help would be greatly appreciated..

[Q] MicroUSB Port

I have a broken microusb port, and I have contacted SE about it.
Does anyone know how much it would cost me if I sent it to them? (Don't know if it's still under warranty, it's second hand)
Just sent it off, and hopefully it'll be done soon (and at a cheap price)

USB Port on the phone is starting to break?

The USB port on my phone seems like its starting to break. The black thing inside the port seemed to be off of the wire things and tilted at an angle.. i inserted the usb cord into the port and pushed it back into place but i got a feeling it will be breaking off soon....
Is this covered by the warranty?
also, just to note... i bought the phone on craigs list a while ago... not sure if that affects anything ;o
I believe that would be on warranty but don't tell the VZW guys you bought it on craigslist Just say you just bought the phone and the port seems loose some times and see if they will give you a new one. Worth a shot either way.

[Q] No service after charging port replacement

I have a second hand Galaxy S2 which was unlocked to all networks and randomly the phone would connect to driving mode. I used GoLauncher EX to delete Voice control but then it started showing that it was charging constantly. After a lot of research I found the problem was in the charging port.
I ordered a new charging port online and I've put it in instead of the old one and now the charging problem is gone, but now my phone gets no service on a Three UK sim, I'm quite sure it wasn't on Three UK to begin with.
Is it possible that changing the charging port might have locked the phone to the original carrier again?
and is there anyway to unlock it(without root) or get it working again a different way?
(This is my first post. Forgive me if I've made any mistakes. )
Got quite a few views. Does this mean no one has any idea on what it could be?
Take a look at the antenna wire sometime you touched it and it's not connected properly
Yeah I have seen a lot of people lose signal who replace that port. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the antenna. Make sure you have knocked it by mistake

I experienced the same problem with my Samsung S2. I had destroyed the charging port by being careless when charging it which meant my phone would not charge at all; although if I was lucky I would get about 10% charge every day.
To resolve the problem, I bought a cheap charging port flex cable off ebay for about £4.00 which I thought was a bargin. After taking the phone apart (with help from a YouTube video) I replaced the port, turned the phone on and it charged perfectly. Then all of a sudden I lost all signal. I moved around the house, hoping to get the slightest bit of signal but no, nothing. I did a lot of research online as to why this has happened and everyone said it was to do with the antenna cable that runs along the left hand side of the phone so my immediate thought was to buy a new one. I did a factory reset to see if that helped but it did not. As I was desperate, the following day I went into town to see if I could find a shop that sold an antenna wire. I went in shop after shop but nowhere sold what I was looking for. I went into a shop and described my problem to the man behind the counter, and he knew exactly what was wrong. On the flex cable there is "REV" followed by a number, and he told me that if the replacement number is not the same as the original then the phone will have no service.
In the photos you will see my original cable that was "REV2.3" and my replacement cable that was "REV2.2".
Long story short... when replacing the charging port make sure the replacement flex cable has the same REV number as the original otherwise you will have no service. Your problem is not related to the antenna wire.
I hope this helps!

[Q] HTC One home made usb otg gone horribly wrong

Okay so I made (tried to make) a USB OTG cable by taking the metal off the outside of the USB connector, then cutting and reconnecting the cable with red on black and green on white so it would be the same polarity as a female USB. i plugged a flash drive up and nothing happened.
Here is where my retarded moment comes in: I HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER WITH THE POLARITY REVERSED!!!!
Now it wont even boot up. :crying:
I have a HTC One (AT&T).
PLEASE HELP!!!
I also don't want to send it back because this will be the third phone in 3 months (1st: xperia tl soft bricked returned 2nd: xperia tl hard bricked returned 3rd: i hope it will still work, but i need your help). . i will take ANYTHING except for taking it apart (that's why there is geek squad but that costs money and I'm broke).
if i need to go into more detail i will but please tell me or else i wont know.
wires:
red----------black
white----------green
black----------red
green----------white
i think it blew a fuse, but if so how would i fix it? does it even have a fuse?:crying:
Oh dear! You've lived up to your name anyway. The phone is frazzled!
Next time get a schematic of the cable wiring or buy a cable. It'll be cheaper in the end.
Your phone shop should replace the phone though - just don't tell them your story

that is not what i wanted to hear but thank you anyways. :crying: :crying:
maybe since it wont boot up at&t wont have any way to know about the unlocked bootloader and cyanogenmod (they let me get a new phone for free even after rooting and bricking both my xperia tl's. All i had to do was say that the update broke itor the battery wouldn't hold any charge.) But I JUST got it two or three days ago so I feel very crappy now.
at least i have google voice on my computer and kindle fire.
WHY DIDN'T I WATCH THE STUPID VIDEO!!!! the answer is i am a freaking idiot.
When you say "phone shop", does best buy fit in that category? or is there any possible way to fix it from home?

[Q] USB port melting Chargers!

I plugged in my Desire 610 to the mains (using original charger) after 5 minutes i could smell burnt plastic and it had melted the plastic surrounding the pins on the cord.
Just the USB port area was hot, I factory reset let it cool down and tried charging again when i got to work, this time plugged into my laptop whilst the phone was off.
Same thing happened again! i phoned HTC but because it is rooted they just try blaming it on that and not covered by warranty anymore because of root.
(Its not overclocked or anything and Im running a deodexed stock rom)
I have ordered one of these and am looking to repair myself when it arrives
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251939216112
Before I try charging it once new part fitted, should I do any more software checks? Any Ideas?
As no one has bothered replying I have gone ahead and done the repair, and now all working great!
For anyone who comes across the same issue, this is a nice easy repair (any n00b with a steady pair of hands can do it!)
just follow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACrSM3fTy0c
I highly recommend getting the part I gave the link for in my last post, instead of getting a separate connector and messing about with solder!
Lol I don't think anyone has had this problem before and that's why nobody replied
