[Q] Searching for an developer for CyanogenMod 10 Keyboard Mod - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I hope I post this on the right place now. Sorry for posting it on another place too, but i think this noob question isn't well seen in the other forum
I have an Xperia Pro and now I am using PAC Man rom and CM10. But I am not very happy with the hardware keyboard on both Roms.
So I am searching for an developer who would make an Mod with an Stock Liked Hardware Keyboard. That means, the "Sym" Key should work and insert from "äöüß" shoulkd be easier. In the stock rom I press on the "aous" a moment, pop-up apperas, for german the "aous" are selected automatically, and for further write this letter is inserted automatically. at CM must be confirmed via touch or enter.
The Sym-Key now works, the äöü is one thing of getting used. But is really miss the smilies in the Sym-Menu.
I'd like do it myself, but I don't have the time and for all I don't have knowledge in that.
I think the hole Xperia Pro CM Community would be happy for that. I would pay a little bit for the work.
Regards
Christoph

Roms review 99% done =)

[ROM] Cyanogen Froyo CM6-Latest (based on MiniCM) - v6.01 - created by slade87
I didn’t have any problems with this ROM, slade87 tried to take out the Sony’s stuff and it works.
The camera app it’s different from the other ones (I couldn’t figure it out but I think it’s the default android app?)
You could say bye bye to the album of SE, cause there is an app called Gallery 3D, it’s pretty good and simple.
I’ll be honest, I never like ADW, I’m more a Launcher Pro guy, but this theme, it’s smooth and with the option to “separate” the apps from each other’s it’s great.
The Flash player doesn’t work on the browser (damn you SE) but it’s installed so you can open swf files. (I didn’t try)
Bugs I found:
- Seems like, the keyboard light turns on with the keyboard closed :S (I think it’s fixable thanks to D4rKn3sSyS)
- The sms doesn’t have the option to save costs to.
- It’s possible to access the power options (by pressing the power button) even the phone it’s lock.
[ROM] Cyanogen Gingerbread CM7 based on MiniCM for MiniPro (v15.0) - created by slade87
What a disappointment… I was expecting much more from this ROM 
The best:
The profiles in the power options, that my friend it’s a damn good idea!
The worst/bugs:
The wifi was crazy, it was almost impossible to download via market the Quadrant Standard Edition to benchmark this ROM.
The camera doesn’t support full resolution (I think slade it’s working on that)
The screen goes off when it feels like, I mean even if you are navigating throw the menu, the screen goes off.
When someone calls you, the option to answer or not it’s in front of the name.
The sms doesn’t have the option to save costs to
It’s possible to access the power options (by pressing the power button) even the phone it’s lock.
[ROM]CyaNo (R)Evolution v1.3 & CyaNoComb v1.2 - created by slade87
This is a cleaner version of Cyanogen Froyo CM6-Latest (based on MiniCM) - v6.01.
The bugs are the same except:
It’s possible to access the power options (by pressing the power button) even the phone it’s lock.
[ROM] SonyBread 4.0 Final - created by paul-xxx
I couldn’t run this ROM because it loop in the gingerbread boot animation
[ROM 16-07-2011] Andread 2.2.9 Pro v7f - created by pumakkiotto
Sorry but I couldn’t review totally this ROM because of the updates :S My phone stuck at SE logo every time I tried to update with the “fix c.1.0 ok.zip” file.
The phone reboot one time while I was using the voice app, don’t know I why but isn’t important.
The camera app it’s very good, lots of options I think it’s the vignette app (correct me if I’m wrong)
The launcher it’s simple and cool, but doesn’t support horizontal mode.
This is a very lightly and fast ROM, very good work
Bugs I found:
- The keyboard layout (I didn’t test the slade87 method, but I think it works )
- The launcher doesn’t save the order of apps.
- The sms doesn’t have the option to save costs
[ROM] CyaNoComb v1.3 - created by D4rKn3sSyS
I couldn’t test this ROM at all because the setup wizard always stops after I change the clock settings and then I don’t have a launcher :S
I tried to install the ROM twice.
This is the cost saving I'm talking about, I take this screen shot from the SONY's ROM
s
Reserved! =)
bugs find in latest version of roms
hi im running slade´s minicm 5.0 when i install 6.0 or 6.01 my app jbed java emulator dont work anymore. but it does en 5.0, i try Paul sonybread too and all works fine exept my java emulator. its say {no sd card present or maybe sd card is busy please chek it} the emulator installs fine but midlets dont run just says that and close.same fot froyocomb 1.6 and minicm 7, maybe a wrong lib file or line on build.prop? can somebody give me a hand or a hint? i really use this app. but want to jump to 6.01 or sonybread. thanks in advance.
First of all i am not a developer.
But i think it is a bad idea. Developers dont compete. Ui is what you make it too and everyone has different taste..

i absolutely agree with that.
A batery test alone would be nice. I've seen differences on up to 300 % from slades android 2.3 v 15 to his 2.2 cyan revolution alone. Other than that i think a comparison of features set up nice would help people, a test alone is kinda silly.

his right.
and i dont think the dev want to enter this contest and compete with each other.basically all the rom are same.
What would be usefull is some kind of comparison. So new users can make a choice easier.
But don't you see, developers will not be submitting their roms to compete. That's not the point in xda.

So with so many roms out there, I thought maybe it's a good idea to make a test to all of them.
I'm gonna give them a score from 0 to 10 to:
- Bugs
- Users vote
- Interface
- Graphics
- CPU
- Battery
- Apps that are already installed
- Others stuff
I think it's fare enough to give a preparation time to all developers, thus I'm gonna review all the ROM that has been submitted to me, by the developer of that ROM,in a PM before 23:59:59 (UTC+1) 22nd July.
After that I'm gona download all the last versions of the ROMs submitted unitl that day.
I hope the developers like the ideia =)

the idea is not sooo bad
maybe you could see that CM is not forever the best rom in xda
it is sad that all roms are basicly a CM6 ROM
CM is good but a little bit new would be interessting
It's not a competition! It's like a comparable chart for new users, don't get me wrong please!

I suggest changing the thread title, it suggests a competition. As of right now, you have developers working together using fixes, optimizations from each other to make all the roms better and more stable, i see no reason to change that. Even just rating them still creates a competition in rankings, let alone the fact that your experience with a rom could be far different than what another user will have. This is evident in the rom threads themselves as some users experience bugs and others don't.
I think it's best to leave it as it is, comment on your experiences with the roms, rank them as you wish, just make sure that everyone knows its just your opinion and not a contest or competition.
Why don't you just review the ROM's if you want to review them? I don't see the need to set a certain time and date, why should the developers work to your timescale?

yeah but what could you change? You cant add new features, only change the stock Apps and look. Thats it!
Btw a rom with only new features but no "custom" stuff would be nice, so new "devs" have a nice blank rom to start customizing it! =)
they all suck.
100% done.

Not all, Your's it's cool, [email protected]?
Lol epic
The roms that i'm going to review are on the first topic, please be free to tell me if I forgot someone or something
10 out of 10 for enthusiasm but I think you should make clear from the start its your opinion if you really want to go ahead and do it.
When I first bought my phone I knew zero.
I don't know much now but everything I've learned and decided to do on this phone I've done through reading, and through trial & error.
My opinion is that beginners should learn for themselves, by trying for themselves...not being told
But thats my opinion.

Common Problem of All X10MP Users: Keyboard

Hello all,
I think that our developers are doing great by making beautiful custom roms for us. But with almost every rom of X10 Mini Pro, many of us have encountered a common problem: The Keyboard Problem
I will explain what exactly the problem is, and request emerging developers to sort the matter out.
Problem 1: With every rom if you are using onscreen qwerty keyboard and suppose suddenly you want to type with slide out physical keyboard, then you will find that all other keys work fine on physical keyboard except Symbol (Sym) key. To make the symbol key work, one has to change the 'input method' to 'default input' and in that case user could not access onscreen qwerty back until he changes the 'input method' again to default one. I mean to say that it is really a big pain every time changing the input method. Please can someone make the qwerty keyboard layout such that it can work onscreen as well as physical one should also work fine (including symbol key). Remove the default input (SE) and make the qwerty one as default with Sym key working on slideout keyboard. Maybe some one can port XMP keyboard to our X10MP but the keys are different in both type so one need to play around the key layout.
Problem 2: Keyboard light never works perfectly (like stock rom) on any rom. I don't know why our developers did not pay attention to this common but serious issue. I know that we have KFIX apk for that but one need to keep it always on and it always runs in background eating our little amount of RAM. Nobody wants that.
Can anyone make a flashable zip so that both the above said problems will be solved (Atleast for MiniCM7).
Thanks in advance.
I hope whoever will solve these issues will get huge number of thanks and appreciation from X10MP community.

for your problem number 2
try folowing this
try copying the lights.mimmi.so or lights.delta so from /system/lib/modules on miniCM7 to this ROM and see if lights work. if this was built from source they're not included by default.
i use a firedroid and had the same problem then i take other rom that has perfect keyboard light rom and put it in my firedroid rom zip. and it works fine now. credit goes to atis112 for the firedroid and x10man for the solution.
Can't find lights.mimmi.so

Hi! Sad to say I couldn't find lights.mimmi.so or lights.delta in the /system/lib/modules folder- it was completely empty, in fact, except for a .placeholder file. I downloaded MiniCM7-2.2.1-robyn.zip, update-FireDroid-2.3-mimmi.zip, and MiniCM7-2.2.0-mimmi.zip . Can you perhaps post the file involved, or point to the right download?
Much appreciated!

Wow, switching back to the default keyboard made everything work perfectly! It means my touchpad KB is dialpad style, but the flip-out KB works perfectly now, lights.mimmi.so by the way was under /system/lib/hw folder. It looks like I don't have to install it though, so long as I'm satisfied with the 3x4 taptouch touch keypad.

Problem 1 :
Can't make comment about this one, since I always use default input method, and never use android keyboard.
Problem 2 :
There are people already trying to fix this issue.
And actually, this issue is not always found in every phone (and ROM)..
I just flashed ArcMiniNxt 6 by Pranaj (sorry if misspelling), and the keyboard light don't have problems at all. At first, even MiniCm7 and MiniCM 9 by nAa doesn't have this issue at all (in my experience, though). As the time goes on (and I install this and that and doing tweaking this and that), then the keyboard starts going haywire. So, it's not fully to ROM and Kernel I guess..
I think problem one was fixed in the latest nightly, as was two with the inclusion of mimmiparts.apk. the files you were looking for are in /system/lib/hw but they won't help.

*Whistle!* Looking forewards to trying it! Currently the nightly builds links at download.cyanogenmod.com are giving 404's though, so no luck there. Thegoogle miniCM repository doesn't host the nightly builds either, but <3 it for information and stable builds. (Sorry folks, I'm not out of newb status yet so can't post external URLs, but I'm working on my post-count!)
<3's to this forum for bringing me successfully through modding my own U20i. Kudos X10man, thank you for the tidbit of info!

IDEA/DONATING FOR: Porting Samsung Stock Keyboard to Non-Stock ROMs + Modifications

Hi everyone!
I'm pretty sure no one has done this yet (please correct me if I'm wrong!) and there are others who would really love to have this:
Can one of the talented developers here on xda port the stock Samsung keyboard to other non-stock based ROMs, e.g. CM10?
I would really love to switch to a CM10-based or PA-based ROM - but I simply don't want to lose the ability to write with the S-Pen using the stock keyboard. I have seen several users here simply copying the apk file to non-stock ROMs but unfortunately things don't seem to be that easy as it resulted in FCs.
An awesome bonus would be the addition of punctuation symbols (comma, brackets etc.) to the long-pressing of buttons - but I have no idea if this is even possible. I really wonder why Samsung removed these from immediate access (I know I can access them by long-pressing the . bottom right, but this is really inconvenient) - it really sucks...
I am absolutely willing to donate money for such a keyboard! If more are interested and willing to donate, please post below to attract dev attention!

you do realize that you need quite different skills when it comes to developing ROMs and apps, right? and unfortunately I guess it would've been already done if it were possible.

i'm not a dev but maybe its a solution for you if u using STOCK-based rom....
--> pranav pandey (who maked xNXT ROM) released a fully working keyboard that also has fully working HW keyboard..
you can extract it from (xNXT) - Addons v2; but it has a custom signing so you have to look if it works on ur rom;
when not try to replace androidmanifest.xml in keyboard.apk FROM your ROMs keyboard with 7.zip
OR search for stock-signed version (have only seen version for xNXT...)
good luck.
also i think, like said before, its mostly impossible to make a universal workink HW keyboard zip for most roms, sry
