Wall paper files - Motorola Droid X2

I've been looking through the files on this x2 trying to get to know it better. It's a lot different than the HTC devices I'm use to. Does any one know where the wall paper files are stored in this device?
Edit: I'm on stock rooted...

Just to clarify, I'm not asking how to use the wall papers. In the ROMs I've used on other devices the wallpapers along with other thigs are in system/customize/resourses. The stock ROM on this X2 is completely different from what I'm used to. (I have found the bootanimation and bootanimation sound)

No clue sorry
don't be scared it's only a phone

Don't know about the X2 but its in the /system/framework/framework-res.apk archive on my Bionic.

Droid 3 system dump deodexed (hoping to get blurhome2 working from it)

I i have painstakingly deodexed this whole rom . Trying to get this apk . Its a system file so it wont just install..
And renaming my current blurhome to blurhome.apk.bak causes forcecloses and i have to battery pull
its obviously beyond me because even when i do get it to recognize, it says This is not a blur device
i even setup motoblur and still no go
i also left my blurhome.apk there as well.. Still no go
this droid 3 blurhome should just work . But obviously its missing some dependiencies. If anyone can figure it out let me know
http://www.multiupload.com/Z9B7BSVMG0
here is the entire system dump
or atleast what autodeotool would deodex without physically having the phone
An Android dependency walker would be real nice right now
Probably have more luck if the entire deodexed system dump was posted.
I got the whole dump, everything I've tried so far is being a pain in the butt to deodex the whole thing >_<

And I used xultimate to deodex if you two were wondering

This is the droid bionic dump deodex, from mydroidworld, http://www.multiupload.com/PUNT30M31T im sure we will be able to get the blurhome2 apk to work from this because im sure the blurhome2apk from droid 3 is missing something because its like 6ish mb, and the blurhome2apk from the bionic is 13ish mb just a lit more then the blurhome apk from our atrix, i got the camera from it working without any problems and the bionic livewallpaper from it....take a look at this i doubt i'll be able to do anything right now with it been super busy thanks cheers
Edit it the cam disappears after 2 reboot :/

Is it the one from the bionic? That I posted?
Yea, Like i said i dont know if it does any good to change it because i tried to install it and drop it in the system/apps folder neither worked but this did.
Could just be a fluke idk.
Well that's awesome still, so I was wondering about the camera It works at first then it the disappears in the app drawer the second time I reboot? Got ne ideas? And do u think u could post the blur2 apk the u modify? Id love to try it
The D3 Camera is readily available through the Dev forums alot of rom developers offer it as a addon CWM File and i use it everyday with no issues. Did you drop the apk in the system folder or install it?
And yea ill upload the blurhome2.apk in just a min. Crappy upload speeds here.
Here Ya Go - http://www.multiupload.com/LMNZFJ74YJ
Did notice that you cant select it to be the default launcher, i have to click on the MBSetup icon then skip the setup to get back to it? Ill look into this a little later my head hurts to bad right now.
Eh I don't like the DROID 3 cam cuz of the 5mp issue lol n the bionic cam I drop it in system apps rw r r, that's awesome I hate crappy upload speeds lol sorry

Need Some Assistance (Dev Related)

Ok, so here is the deal...
I went on the RAZR forums and got ahold of the system folder for the RAZR (well any of us could get it from there) My thing is I like blur (yeah I know alot of you don't)
And I wanted the newest blur on my DX2 (hopefully I am not the only one). SO my question is, is it possible? ANd if so, I'm just asking someone to point me in the right direction to make it work.
I would rather try to do the heavy lifting myself versus asking a dev to do it. That way I learn.
Also, would the same technique work for getting the Smart Actions App work? Tried to install it using Droid Explorer. But it wouldn't take. Only thing I got was it works on 2.3.5 (which I updated to but it still failed to install).
So best guess is it's looking for something the RAZR has that the DX2 doesn't. Maybe something in the build.prop?
Thanks for any help in advance

[Q] Droid X vs. Droid X2

Im just wondering what the differences are that make the Droid X get Cyanogenmod and ICS ports and not the Droid X2. I thought the Droid X had a locked bootloader as well. If someone found a way around the locked bootloader on the Droid X, why wont the same method work for us? Are the ROM ports for the Droid X "dumbed down" versions of the ROMs in order for them to work on a locked bootloader? If so, again, why cant we get them? I know there is probably some technical answer that sums it up. Im just asking out of curiosity.
From my understanding, the Droid X got a leaked dev rom that contained the unlocked bootloader. I'm not 100% sure where this was acquired, perhaps someone can chime in.

Lucky DX users. lol. I cant wait to have some unlocked bootloader goodness. I hope the X2 Devs get this thing unlocked soon. Im rootin' for them.
I just came from a droid X. The bootloader never got unlocked, but the devs found out how enable the droid X to run everything as if it had an unlocked bootloader except custom kernels by using 2nd init. The roms were not dumbed down at all and we had everything from CM7 to MIUI to OMFGB.
No unlocked bootloader. TBH got a leaked dev sbf I think or the like.
Thats what I thought. I thought none of Motorolas phones where unlocked. Its just weird that two phones that are pretty much identical, cant run the same stuff. I wish we could just take the stuff that "unlocked" the Droid X and use it for us. Im ready to flash something new on my phone.
Oh sorry folks. I remember there was a Droid X overclock and thought they manage to unlock the bootloader.
edit, off topic...

There are unlocked Motorola phones
ATRIX, photon,
The XOOM came out as a google experience device as well
Btw, they're not identical, I believe the x has a different processor.

they look similar... but that's pretty much where the similarities ends.. if you mess around with the x and the x2... you'll find out they vary allot... recovery is very different... the only reboot options the x has is bootloader/safe/recovery... where are the x2 has a fastboot mode and all that... with the dual core processor as opposed to the x's single core...
but the reason why the x2 is just now getting cm7 is pretty simple...kinda...
to get into bootstrap with the x2... you need to plug your phone in order to use bootstrap... with the x.. and most other phones this is isn't necessary... and this is because there are some files for the screen and what not... dragonzkiller has a great post explaining this in dev section... for some of those necessary files to run the phone even in recovery... you can't unmount the /system... and by requiring the phone to be plugged in... koush said this was a "dirty hack" and that's why rom manager doesn't actually support the x2... which has lead to a lack of development...

No... The lack of dev was due to the bootloader being locked. But now that they have gotten 2nd-Init working the dev should pick up.

I hope so. An ICS port would be pretty cool too.
The lack of dev support is the reason I miss my DX. Hope that changes soon!

[Q] Naked ROM for Droid X2 android 2.3.4

Seems the website for the Naked Rom from this post for a Droid X2 with 2.3.4 is down. Does anyone have a copy of that or is there another version of a stable ROM that is just barebones? Need it for our project that is deploying on a private network.

Sites back up...I would love this ROM even more if it didn't have Market and Email either along with Hotspot. I am trying to make a ROM for an Enterprise application where they won't even make phone calls, its running the companies two programs and that's it. You can get a copy of Naked2.3.4 here in case their site is down again matthewscorp.com/download/2.3.4-naked.zip

[Q] Preparing to root

I've been reading up on rooting and roming my DX2. I'm technically capable, but, stuff happens and I can't really afford for my phone to be down for a few days while I work out a problem.
So... I've been thinking about buying a used DX2 and use it as my testbed/spare phone. It wouldn't be activated, so I presume no OTA updates, but otherwise would that work? Can I do everything but OTA updates with a non-activated Droid X2 phone?
thanks in advance
Yes you can. You can even dl and flash ripped ota's. As a cheap backup this phone is great.

If you follow directions to a t, you won't have to worry about your phone not working. Just give yourself an hour or two and you got it.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
They have a point. Follow all the directions word for word. I have got in a hurry and forgot some steps in very crutial times and still have managed to get back to stock. Still no problems. And an hour or two, maybe less, is all it will take. If you need and advice on where to start or what you want to do, use the search. Still can't find it, just ask. Plenty of people here to lend a hand.
I appreciate the input folks. Really. However, as someone who develops linux kernel drivers for astronomy cameras and uses a linux laptop and some bash scripts (with 1wire devices) to control my beer brewing process - I know how easy it is to screw something up (and have many times in the past). I prefer to cover my arse before playing with something I *need* to having working. That, and I kinda like the idea of having a backup phone for when I drop mine in the toilet or something similarly stupid.
note: the step-by-step directions here are in direct conflict with another web sites step-by-step. Who is right? I'm going to gamble on this set, but just in case...
Thanks again everyone.

Its good to be prepared. I like that. With this phone, however, Motorola supplies us with an "in case of emergency" option called an SBF file. If anything goes wrong, you just plug your phone into your computer, start the application and in about 5 to 10 minutes, you are back to square 1.
And about your note, which other site are you looking at? You can pretty much get everything you need for this phone in these forums. ROMs are not universal and you have to use stuff specifically made for this phone. So unless the other site was Droid X2 specific, it wont work.
Yea, I read about that and I'm encouraged. I'd still feel better about it if it was happening on a device I didn't care about though.
I'd rather avoid any finger pointing - it was a popular droid x2 specific site. It stated that using the "zergRush" would not work due to some file sig issue or something like that. I don't exactly recall at the moment.

The only problem that some have had with zerg is that it can delete some files to make space and has caused issues with flashing the newest eclipse...I haven't been on the newest eclipse so I personally have not experienced that particular issue
But I have used it numerous times with good results
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
this phone is almost impossible to hard brick, if you mess something up it takes maybe 10 minutes to run through an sbf and then your right back to stock. zergrush issue is only for the 2.3.5 versions of eclipse otherwise it works fine.
cm7dx2
2.3.5? As in Android 2.3.5? My phone is stock 2.3.5 now and I need 2.3.5 after this is over with (and eclipse is the rom I was targeting). There's an issue with the compass on this phone and 2.3.4 - E & W are swapped when in portrait mode, held vertically. That's a big deal for me as I use a lot of astronomy apps that rely on that E & W being accurate.
This is why I want to make sure this works on a phone I'm not relying on at the moment.

Get a Samsung Fascinate, there are plenty of ROM available, ICS runs smoooooth and you can do much more with it.
My Droid X2 hits around 3600 on CM7.2 my Fascinate hits 3300 before I tweak the kernel and overclock it... There is just more available for that device.
Either or, I would suggest staying within these forums, if you don't see it here it isn't available...
PS I swap in and out between phones, it's nice to have a spare
Good luck with everything.

Thanks, but I could care less about overclocking et al. While I'm a huge Samsung fan, I'm sticking with the DX2 for a while. I like it, and it's *rugged*. My son, a fireman, keeps his on him even when fighting fires. Have you seen how thick/heavy a fire suit is? You sweat your you-know-what off in one and you come out soaking wet - and everything else you had on you - phone included. He also has a 1 yr old who uses the DX2 as a toy. She chews on it, drops it, throws it and the damned thing still looks great and works perfectly.
Picked up the "spare" DX2 last night off ebay. I should be able to start playing early next week.

its not direct conflict, zergrush works on 2.3.4 and 2.3.5/1.3.412
not 2.3.5/1.3.418 which there is no direct root method
bricking is very unlikely with the locked bootloader, and the leaked sbfs
if you are trying to flash eclipse and 2.3.5/1.3.418 don't use zerg use pete's root tools
if this is confusing blame moto

Excellent, I will agree on the ruggedness of the X2. I have dropped mine from far above on ladders...and it keeps on ticking
So, forgive me but you want to root and install a ROM on the X2??
Root with Pete's if you are on 2.3.4 then install ota rootkeeper and protect your root...at that you can update via ota and still keep root, after the update completes you just run rootkeeper again to restore root.
Depending on which ROM you want will determine which version of Android you'll need...
Eclipse is the only ROM that requires 2.3.5...
so if you're at Android 2.3.5 I would install boot strap recovery and create a NANDroid backup...
After you create your NANDroid backup you would just flash your ROM, wipe data...etc
If you're at Android 2.3.4 you can do the same as above, just skip the update (don't install it)
If you are at 2.3.5 and you want to install a ROM that requires 2.3.4 you will have to use Rsd to SBF your phone to that version of Android. You can find easy tutorials on how to do that in General...they are stickied....
I stay with 2.3.4 because all the ROM I flash require that.
Just root with Pete's and you'll be fine either way....

Surely there is an abundance of info abroad, but have you decided to just do it? Did you download Petes or Zergrush yet?
I hesitated at first, but bam I just did it. I had this whole thing worked in my head preparing to...what if... Then I just did it, exactly how others have stated. Root it, and don't look back, we are always here to help. Moon shadow has a couple guides here for rooting, sbf'ing, etc... If you're uncertain, just ask
