YouTube Issues - Motorola Droid X2

Recently I have been unable to watch YouTube videos outside of the YouTube app. Specifically when I try to watch a video in Pulse, the error message "this video cannot be played" pops up....
Any suggestions?

Same problem here I just use the app?
don't be scared it's only a phone

Yeah I wouldn't mind doing that, but if it is in a pulse article it is a bit more of a hassle to search in the app... Thanks for the suggestion though

YouTube Issues

So my youtube as it loads will just lag and stop playing even when the red loading bar is far ahead of where video is actually playing...Is this normal, signal is consistantly at 2 bars... Its so agrivating because it takes at least 30-45 seconds to resume.

I have the same issue. It only happens when I am in a large building. Outside or in my car it works perfect

I love videos, but hate the YouTube app....there's a killer market app called tubemate that replaces the YouTube app adding in the option of downloading the videos outright. Works well.

Have you tried downloading and installing Mirren browser from the market? I think it's the same thing.

Almost positive. You might be able to find the .apk in forums .. im gonna check.

Ok. I originally mispelled it. Its actually Miren with one "r". It has recently been taken off the android market, but Snappzmarket still has it. If you're unfamiliar with it, Snappzmarket is an alternative android market and if you go to their site you'll have a link to download the snappz market app. Install it, register in-app, and search Mirren. Download it, enjoy it. I just tried it myself and can not only confirm that it works, but seems damn fast as well.

As far as the sms goes, I can only assume that you're familiar with Handcent?

COOL.
BTW I would have stayed on Miui if Browser fonts had "bolded" as they should have. On my install of Ace's Miui all browsers do not bold.
I found miren last night. It's a pretty good browser. I don't like handcent at all. I like go SMS much better. It's similar to the miui SMS.

Youtube HD apk

A little backround info about the youtube app for the Evo 3D: If you download youtube from google play(doesn't matter if you're rooted or not), it will not play HD(High Definition) video; only HQ(High Quality). If you haven't noticed already, HQ isn't really much different than the normal video. The reason it doesn't play HD is that our device's screen is not technically considered an HD screen because of the pixel density(Evo 3D is qHD:960X540 HD is 1280X720). However, HD videos play fantastically on our device, so Google fails for not allowing youtube to upscale to HD. Fortunately, there's a fix for this. For those of you who want youtube videos to play in 720p HD(not sure why you wouldn't...), instead of crappy HQ, I have a working apk attached. Simply download, put on your sd card, and install like you would any other third party apk, and if you have youtube installed already, or if it came embedded in your rom, just say ok or yes when it asks if you want to replace the system app. I've installed it myself and tested it, and there are no weird bugs, glitches, discoloring, missing lines, cut off portions, weird aspect ratio, etc. It works flawlessly, and any video shot in HD looks crystal clear. Came from beneath-a-burning-turtle's Common Sense 1.7 rom, so thank him, not me.
Wow! What a difference! I thought that the video quality could have been better on YouTube. Now it is. WAY better! Thanks allot!

Great find man, appreciated.
Big difference, I always wanted HD instead of HQ on my E3D. Works on Viper3D GSM.
Thanks

Will this work on the Evo 4G or does it specifically have to be the 3VO?

Awesomeness! Working on MIUI. Just delete the YouTube app in system/app and install normally.

I see no reason why it wouldn't, it's just an apk. Give it a try, if it doesn't work, uninstall it and re-install the one from the play store
Niiiiiice.

Here's my problem.
Once I downloaded it and tried to install it, it gave me an error message saying that the install was not done because a package with the same name already exists.
How do I get past this? Also, how can you move to card after download, but before install? Do you need a pc for that (which I am not by at the present)?

You need to delete the original from system/app, then put the HD one in, and make sure the permissions are set right (rw-r--r--) I recommend using root explorer, its a dollar or two on the market, but its worth it

Go to settings>security and make sure unknown sources is checked then try again. If it says 'this will replace a system app do you still want to install?' click ok and it should install, if not uninstall the youtube that's already on your device, if you can't then just root your phone.
Will I still be able to play 3d YouTube videos using this?

nook color entertainment center

So I installed cm7 on my nook color and have it to my toddler. So basically I just want to know what the best way to download movies and YouTube videos for when we're on the road and unable to get wifi. Any entertaining games and interactive books anyone recommends? By the way he's 2 years old and loves playing ants and angry birds (although he has difficulties with the last).

Kid mode by zoodles is great. Lots of games and clips to watch. My 4 year old loves it. They always add new things. Just download movies on the computer and transfer them to the memory card

I'll have to give that a try, I'm only worried about the for size and format.thanks

Use mxplayer it plays anything you throw at it. I generally dload 700mb divx and xvid for my toddler. Not the best quality but we are happy. Blu-Ray and DVD are too big.

Do you experience lag when watching videos... I tried a couple of movies I downloaded and the sound is easy behind the movement. The character will talk, then about a second later you hear the voice. Any tips?

YouTube video quality on RAZR MAXX

I know this topic has been discussed many, many times here, but my question is a little different (or more specific).
I can get the YouTube app to display HQ videos, and yes I have 'High Quality on mobile' checked in the app's settings, but it seems like the "HQ" videos play in 480p at best. I know this phone's screen res is 960x540, so it won't play 720p video natively, but is there any way to force the app to play the 720p video and shrink or scale it down?
It seems like normal videos are 360p or lower, and HQ is MAYBE 480p, and everything kind of looks like ****.
