Issues with Yahoo and stock mail app? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Anyone else using the stock mail app for Yahoo mail having issues recently? My last received message was Saturday the 15th. If I try to sync, I get 500: Invalid server response. I can't even remove the account because of the same error. I try sending myself a test message and I get prompted for a login error. Tried resetting my password and no luck. I know I can use the yahoo mail app, I don't want to. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same.

I use yahoo without issues...try removing the account and adding it back

I've been having the same problem with both yahoo and hotmail. I'm not able to sync and when try to delete the account it gives me an error 503 server unavailable. Can anyone help????

now that you mention it, I'm also seeing this happening with my device. I have Yahoo set to retrieve every 15 minutes but it's obviously not doing that. I have to manually refresh to retrieve yahoo mail

Had the same problem. .just cleared data on the mail app. Did the whole set up all over again and has been working fine now

Ya I'm also having this problem on my fathers Note 2 with a Yahoo account. Getting sign in failed, 503 error's. Try to delete the account get a 503 error. I reset the device completely and it's still occurring. It started happening on December 19th.

I've been getting the 503 errors also. tried clearing Email data and have removed the account as well. Can't set up the account on my phone again beause Email setup doesn't show in the setup and I still get the 503 errors. I will let me setup the Yahoo account under "Others". I finally gave up and grabbed the Yahoo Mail app, it works better for me anyway.

Same issue here and my wife's S3 is doing the same. I comes and goes and I can't delete the account because I get the 503 error. We need a fix because this is basic functionality.

My wifes bionic is giving login errors but then logs right in since yesterday.

Go under settings> application manager> all and clear the data on the email app. From there you can now select the email app and choose "other" login with your yahoo mail credentials. It recognizes it and completes setup. Thats what im using now.

[Q] Email App Broken?

I woke up this morning and the Email app or the Social Hub email just stopped working. First it was that I couldn't click any links in the emails. Then it became that once I read one email, I couldn't read another, every email seemed like the first one I opened. But if I tried switching inboxes, emails wouldn't open at all!
The problem temporarily solves it self if i exit email and restart, but links still don't work in emails. I tried deleted email cache as well as clearing programme data for the email app. Didn't work, if your email data is clear social hub still remembers the account info, which makes the thing crash. So I had to reset up accounts, since it's the same accounts which seemed to work but I got these error messages like "Can't read service provider, not provided or carrier" or something.
I'm on XWKDD, baseband XXKDH dont have any other problems. Anyone else know what could be wrong?
i have a simular problem when i erase the mail in inbox, its gone i mean all.
normally it would go to trassbasket ....
if someone has a email.apk from the S2, i would like to have it and reinstall it, because the email.apk who is on the phone won't install

[Q] SGS2 Email App FC's on account add

Hey all,
On my SGS 2 right from the get go, I cant add an IMAP or POP account to the phone.
When it goes to check the incoming settings, it connects to the server (I can see the logs as its my mail server), logs in and then the email app closes.
I've reset to factory defaults etc and no difference.
My Exchange account, hotmail acct etc are all fine. I just cant add an IMAP or POP account.
Running CF-Root 4.0 on Ke7 kernel. (also tried with stock kernel as well of course)
Ay ideas?

Hotmail is a 'premium' service.
Its certainly very strange, and im completely stumped right now. Im using K-9 in the meantime, but I dont really like K-9 that much.
My first thought was it's something wrong with my mail server (using courier-imap and couriier-pop) but it does it on ANY pop or imap account. (at least that I have access to)
UPDATE: If I purposely get the login details wrong, the app will report incorrect login, but wont crash. Only if the login is valid does it crash
My stock email client configured to connect to exchange via notifylink crashes whenever I try to open a larger email. Sorry this has nothing to do with your issue, but maybe it will give you some pointers.

Odd, well I am guessing it's some weird setting in your mail server. Most likely it's your mail server is following the RFC, but the stock email app isn't XD

You and I would assume that as well, but I've tried it on a different server type in a different data center in a different country and it still FC's

Hi...i had this problem once and it suddenly appeared again today.I didn't do nothing,just all of a sudden my e-mail wouldn't appear.I tried everything:i changed my yahoo account location to uk or asia,i manually selected the imap/pop3 ports and servers,but nothing seems to work.The messages that i get when i hit refresh are :<<cannot connect to your yahoo email.The connection should be restored automatically;if the problem persists,contact yahoo for assistance(4002)>>,<<an error occured.Please try again(101)>>,<<the attempt to sign in failed due to invalid user name,password,or incorrect setting.Please check user name,password,and setting on the web,and try again(301)>>.Or i hit refresh and nothing happens...I think i got all the possible error.Please help!
Edit:i found out that these errors appear when i select premium account.If i don't select it it works just fine.But i want premium account as i had previous.
Edit2:Ok.Now it seems that the problem is the premium account setting.I tried entering a gmail account with/without premium account and it did the same as it did with the yahoo account.Error:<<an error occured while sending data.please try again(104).>>The question remains:what can i do with premium account to work?

what i am doing is that I am using Yahoo mail client from market , actually i got so much pissed off that i deleted the mail client itself from my phone

Email problem after rooting

I have the i9100 w icecream sandwhich 4.0.3. Just rooted today and now the stock email app will not register my live account. it continues to say connection failed. I have tried going through wifi rather than using my phones data and still it says connection failed. Has anyone else had this issue? If so how can i fix this?

Try clearing data and reboot ur phone.
i actually had the exact same issue, I was never able to sort it out, but I just linked my hotmail with my gmail account because the gmail app works fine.
In fact, gmail does a good job and linking with hotmail, it even lets you send emails from your hotmail account.
Dont know if this solution would work for you, but it did for me

Email not syncing / cant delete email account

Sorry for the long post.
I have a gmail account and a hotmail account. Gmail works fine but hotmail is not syncing with the phone. I can see on the web app of hormail that I have received new email but I press the sync button on the mail app and nothing happen. I verified the password and is the correct one. I was reading that it happening to some people on the s3.
Tried to delete the account on setting/accounts and it say that some apps need the hotmail account and that I need to reset the device to factory. Tried to delete the account from the email app and it shows me "delete account failed-503 service unavailable" I have been looking through the forum and cant find an answer. Is there's a way I can delete without resetting ? im stock but rooted Thanks in advance
Figured out! deleted the stock email data from titanium backup and it deleted the account. Set it up again and seems to becworking fine!
You could also clear the data on the mail app...once cleared, go back to the email app and youll run the set up all over again

When I flash new rom, I try to avoid following....
1. dirty flashing (flashing over existing rom without wiping my own ass)
-> sometimes creates problems with functionality, but not always
2. retrieving titanium backup with yellow lettered internet bookmark, all red lettered datas, and any 'Account' data.
a)For internet bookmark, retrieve green lettered one but not the yellow one. Retrieving both yellow and green ones will combine 2 same bookmarks.
b)Do not save nor retrieve any red lettered datas.
c) Do not save or retrieve any 'Account' data which is on the list among other datas(regardless of what color it is), or it may create functionality problems such as syncing your email.

I tried to delete on the mail app but it was giving me an error. Then I went to TB and wiped the data there and it worked. I was able to setup again

I am having the same problem with my note2, only for my yahoo account. I am not familiar with the solution listed above as I don't know what Titanium backup is. I have not done anything to my Note since I got it, as far as changing ROM or anything. What is the best way to resolve this since I can't delete the account?

Is there anyone that can help with this problem? I have a stock Note 2 and my yahoo account stopped updating out of nowhere. Now it also won't recognize my login info so I can't send messages either. I have installed the Yahoo app but prefer to use the stock email app for one stop to all my email.
Any suggestions welcome...

Try going to Settings, then Application Manager. Find the email application and clear data. Exit from the application manager and then open your email app and set up your yahoo account again.

Yahoo mail works better for me if I set it up manually. You can let the email app find the servers and such on its own, but that's where I've had most of my problems. If you follow the prompts in a manual set up its pretty intuitive. Delete your Yahoo account and try that.

I wasn't able to delete the accounts. It was giving me a timeout error. I went to titanium back up and wiped the data ftom the stock email. Then I setup again the email as "others"
