Before the galaxy s? Is there any hope for a pure gingerbread and it looks like the evo is off and running with it smooth as butter with a minor hitch with gps issues... not sure how that works, the galaxy s and nexus s are almost identical hardware wise.

Looks like a lot of their roms are AOSP (Android Open Source Project) based. This means they can take the direct source of Android and modify their roms to the Evo hardware. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe anyone has built a good solid working rom for the Vibrant off of the AOSP source alone. We've been getting builds leaked from Samsung and modifying them to build the Vibrant roms you see now. I believe Team Whiskey is working on a AOSP rom and Cyanogen Mod is an AOSP rom that they are working on porting over to Vibrant. Master/Devs4Android released an AOSP clone. I believe someone else said they have Gingerbread working and they are just bug fixing at the moment.

I would venture to say that the Evo is usually the first phone to have this stuff ported to it. It's a high demand phone to get the best ROM's on so it usually gets them first. Don't get me wrong, I love my Vibrant, and so does Team Whiskey so they're working on 2.3, they have it ported but it's experimental still, they'll let us know when it's working. But as far as CyanogenMod goes, they usually port to the Evo first.
Where is the download link for this rom? When I search "Evo 2.3" I don't get any vibrant roms.
Silly developers forgetting links
</sarcasm>
also keep in mind, once the Vibrant 2.2 source is put out the devs will have easier time porting 2.3 also
How's the battery life on this rom? Can I flash it with clockwork mod? Do I have to disable voodoo?

How is 2.2 source going to help with 2.3 code? That's like saying 2.1 source for our kernels helped us build a 2.2 build for our hardware.

Having just come from the inspire 4g, I've had the luxury of having asopx, which if you search their forum you'll see its as close to Google source as possible with all the cm crap gutted, I've been hoping to see one pop up over here but didn't know if perhaps there just wasn't any demand here in Samsung land. Anyway the phone is awesome, just dislike touchwiz, and want the bare bones stock look and feel of ics, to which I can then customize from there. Seems like all the roms thus far have traces of touchwiz and or tons of cm tweaks and apex lanuchers and all that nonsense that we should have the ability to add from a bare bones build, kinda like a foundation to then just customize from there.
Please show some love if you want this as well, would gladly donate for some dev to get on it :beer:
CM9 and AOKP are the closest things you will get to a pure AOSP OS.
If you wanted guaranteed pure AOSP, you should've bought a Nexus device.
BTW, that "CM crap" as you put it, vastly improves the ability of the OS. As does (and this is my opinion only) Touchwiz4.
Why don't you build your own op if you're not happy with what's offered.

Instead of criticizing why not try helping? There actually is a pure AOSP based ROM that we recently got support for named Codename Android. I'm not sure if it 100% running on our phone yet but they are working to do so.

Codename Android on my Nexus S [link] is really nice. It was one of my favorites. If we could see that (at some point) on our phones, that would be awesome.
I built and ran AOSP ICS 4.0.3 for my Nexus S and I have to say that while I did it just to see it work, I didn't run it long as I missed the features that CM and other open-source projects such as Codename Android have to offer. But, to each their own.
Just my $.02.
AOKP is about as close as you're going to get. Try it, you wont regret it.

Sorry if this post came off as if I was some form of elitiest, I was merely suggesting that if we had a nice bare bones build people can thank tweak as they saw fit, I do not claim to be an Android developer and if I could I would love to build what I'm requesting, unfortunately I do not posses those skills ,hence attempting to lure in unsuspecting developers with donations as I do respect and understand the amount of developers that do this in their spare time while maintaining real life jobs. Secondly, my past experience with cm has been poor with the inspire, perhaps it was just not as highly regarded in the inspire space as it is elsewhere. Cm just didn't play that well with that device, perhaps I was too quick to judge having moved devices.
For those on akop, is it the stock launcher, email, and messaging apps? They don't have any screen shots? I'd like to get away from touchwiz

I share this opinion. I can honestly say if I had to choose between my GS II and the Galaxy Nexus with a locked boot loader, and not rootable, I would take the GS II every time. I would not choose to run Stock ICS over CM9, AOKP, or like stated above, TouchWiz (on ICS).
As others said give AOKP a try. Its definitely daily driver stable and complete. It looks like stock ICS but adds so many features. Things like the power toggles in the notification shade, adding apps to the lock screen as shortcuts, the list is huge. I can't make a firm decision between SHOstock2 and AOKP. I spend a week on one, then swap, repeat. I think people give TW a hard time. Its not sense, its not in your face and leeching into every part of the phone. Its really subtle once you put on a different launcher, even the official att builds. When I run AOKP I miss the TW music player (with controls in the lock screen and notification shade), the video player, and the camera more than anything else. When I run TW builds I miss the people/phone app and calendar. Those are the differences to me between TW and AOSP, a vast majority of the ICS experience is the same in the two.

Everyone in here is telling you to go with AOKP. Its as "bare bones" as you can get with stock ICS. There is in TouchWiz whatsoever in AOKP. All the drivers are in there to make all the functions of your phone work. Go try it. Now.

Maybe some devs are just blown away by the options - or maybe they don't think this device is that popular? Blow them away by voting and showing how in demand their services are - and for what!
There is a lot of variety out there right now- and with the official ICS leak these things SHOULD be much more possible, so let me ask you what flavor of ICS do you want the most?
All examples are from vibrant because I have tested all of them on my old phone.. many of the more popular devices have them all.
Ports/official:
Slim ICS - Clean, Simple, and fast - the google way - as barebone aosp as it gets.(Can you say a 75mb download?)
Something like MIUI - A feature heavy nearly total redesign of Android - everything about this type of rom is different - but most of you probably know that. Easily themable in every aspect. Some of the features are here(don't forget it takes advantage of all the new features of ICS)
AOSP(Android open source project) - Either official CM9 or pure AOSP - the stock experience without our blessed "SenseUI" we all have come to love/hate - CM9 of course has some extra features.. and is also easily themable.
AOKP(Android open kang project) - Much like a feature rich version of CM9, while still aiming at a stock experience - if you want to know the differences click here(or check some of the features here)
SenseUI+ - Do you just want modified Senseui with some tweaks? Maybe some root, crt displays, power menu options.. just a stock+ experience? If so go to the development section, it has only been a week yet some good roms seem to be popping up all over(*cough* signature *cough*).
I like stock - HTC and Tmobile decide what I should use, and that's the way I like it! The most I could ask for, if I was feeling risky, is to get a little bit of root. Maybe.
Gingerbread - Damn this new radio! My battery sucks! Life sucks! How dare they leak a rom that isn't even finished! Those @ss&*#(s!
I'm gonna buy a new phone - You guys are noobs, I'm gonna buy a new phone!
If I missed an option, I'm sorry.. send me a PM and I'll see if I can add it to the list- but these are some of the choices out there, maybe help out devs and the potential ones alike by shouting at them all in one place!(rather than in their threads- I'm pretty sure they hate that.)

And yet there is no vote for MIUI? What gives?
I haven't seen that sense4 has enough improvements over 3.6, and then there is the fact that many of those features were integrated into ICS anyways.. is it worth the slowdown?
Now Miui on the other hand has some really original features..
I voted on MIUI after posting. Had it on my HD2 and couldn't wish for anything better!

What's up y'all? I recently lost my Nexus S 4G and am now using my brothers old EVO 3D. I am sorely missing stock Android. I was running an AOSP JellyBean ROM on my NS4G, which was oh so nice....but is there anything for the EVO 3D....either ICS or JellyBean? I've looked around, but haven't seen anything. I guess I should have been more specific....something with little to no issues would be great. Each seem to have their own issues....in the AOKP rom camera isn't working, CM10 has several issues (sound being the main one), and in regards to CM9, I thought I read through a thread that intimated that 4G does not work. Is that something that source built roms will suffer from on the EVO 3D?
Lots of ICS roms with zero issues.
Look in the developement threads.
sudo passwd root
The Nexus is a Google phone with native AOSP. If you want everything to work on an Evo 3D (or most HTC phones) you will probably need to use a ROM that is Sense based.
You might want to look at SOS M which is built on a MeanROM ICS base that is very complete and stable, but largely de-Sensed and has a lot of options to give it the look and feel of AOSP, or even MIUI.
And as someone else already pointed out, in the future "what should I do?" or "how should I do it?" questions belong in the Q&A forum rather than General.
ramjet73
Thanks for pointing me towards the development section, that is helpful. You mind throwing a couple examples at me though? Everything I look at seems to be sense based.
SOS M (cdma) is probably the top sense based rom for the hero. and i'm pretty sure they were first at doing so. it's 100% stable ( you have to use the sense lockscreen tho if you want to see who is calling when your phone is locked) i very much enjoy it
aosp roms usually only have 3g and 2d camera working but you can give sos m a shot, you'll love it trust me
Thanks guys...maybe I'll take SOS M for a spin and see if that does the job for me.
Try 3d Anorexia and PAE .9.5. Those come pretty close to being bugless. Especially 3d Anorexia. Its got working 4g. No 3d of course.

Whoever is responsible for that ROM should really consider giving it another name. If you've ever known anyone with anorexia, there's nothing funny about it.
Sorry, but I'm not going to install a ROM that shows disrespect for a very serious illness.

I'm sure they weren't, but probably at least thought it was a cute name for a lean ROM, which it's not. Many times people (including me) do things that unintentionally offend others and I'm not faulting them for that, just suggesting they change the name to something more appropriate.

That one is my new favorite, camera doesn't work yet along with 4G and 3D. Don't really care about the later two but I do miss my camera. Its an awesome enough ROM IMO to deal without the camera for now. Jelly Bean on our Evo 3Ds is almost like a new phone!
Try King Cobra v1.6. First install Sense and set everything up, then install again using Aroma Installer and select Senseless, and AOSP Components, then select AOSP notification and settings (and DON'T WIPE) and you're good to go with a Bugless (afaik) AOSP ROM.

I'm runing the SOS M ROM right now, but have been keeping a very close eye on that CM10 ROM. The 3D I don't care about, but I need the 4G & camera....work is being done on the 4G, so hoping that is figured out soon and they follow up with quick work on the camera too. I was gonna flash it to check it out earlier today, but I'd have to downgrade my hboot apparently, and since I've not done that before, I figured it wasn't worth the trouble when I knew I couldn't stick with CM10 as it is anyway.
So now that Dev is gonna take off what is everyone hoping to flash/build. I for one wanna see some pure android of some kind.

Haha. Me too, I was just watching a cm11 video. I had it on my old m8 and liked it allot.
Custom Kernels!!!! Synapse was amazing app to use with the right kernel. Honestly I really dig the stock rom. Maybe just remove some things and I will be fine. Of course I will be trying CM when it comes.
We've got to wait until the patches for custom AOSP roms to work with Bump are released, I believe. Might be able to flash stock based roms without patching, though.
Ending up picking up a G3 this weekend. Coming from an S3 with Carbon 4.4.4 and plenty of xposed modules. Overall a great device.
I thought I would miss my heavily customized AOSP rom but the G3 provides a great stock experience.
I'll hold out on a L AOSP version...if there ever will be one.
