My rezound has gotten unacceptably flaky over the past few months, dropping data at work, which is right next to a cell tower that fills all my bars. I also get lots of force closes in a wide range of apps, including system apps. I've tried about 4 different roms to no avail. I think the problem is kernel, radio, or hardware. What combination of Rom, kernel, and radio would you recommend for max reliability? Links would be appreciated.
I'm s-off and rooted, by the way.
Thanks!

What firmware are you on? Are you using the latest Global firmware? You may want to do a RUU install and just start fresh.

To avoid starting a new thread but since I'm doing something similar, I'm currently S-On GB-firmware but running Nils's Sense 4, what do I need to do besides relocking the bootloader to run the RUU? Do I need to wipe anything beforehand?
Thanks!

no need to wipe, the ruu will wipe everything.

I suggest just sticking to the radio & kernel that comes with the rom. If your phone is still unstable run a ruu then flash a rom.

Point of clarification, no ROM includes the radios as it would be highly irresponsible for a ROM dev to do so.
My recommendation follows the other posters though. Run the global firmware RUU, my suggestion would be to run FULL RUU and not just picking and choosing radios with firmware.
Most stable setup I have found is using global firmware and running Nils business ICS Sense 3.6. Everything works perfectly. Battery life is great. And I'm pretty sure nils just updated the ROM last week. I also just run the kernel that came with the ROM. Rock solid stable

What I've got on the phone right now is:
Baseband version:
1.22.10.0421r, 1.22.10.0424r
Kernel version:
3.0.42-gbe20775
[email protected]_v1 #21
SMP PREEMPT Fri Oct 26 23:18:57 PDT 2012
Build number:
IMM76I
Mod Version:
AOKP-Neo 1.8 Linaro
It's been unstable through a series of ROMs and kernels, though. I think I've tried different radios, too, but I don't remember.
I guess it's time to find an RUU. Are there links you'd recommend? I'll google in the meantime.

Thanks for the reply, anyway. I've downloaded 4.03.605.2 from Android Police to my laptop. I still have to put it on my phone. Here's the link, though:
I think the board is going to strip my link because I don't have enough posts under my belt. My apologies.
Most stability and reliability will always be stock.

AOKP is about options and definitely not about stability I'm afraid. Not ragging on my work but if you want speed and network stability, go with cm9

EVERY rom out there without pin-pointing has their shares of bugs. I've tried every rom and always find a bug that annoyed me.
I *finally* installed the stock RUU. It's more reliable than it was, but I'm still getting occasional FCs, and it sometimes drops back to 3G and even 1X, even when I'm sitting on the other side of a parking lot from the cell tower.
I couldn't figure out how to get back into recovery, so I reinstalled amon ra and Su.
All I really miss now from custom roms are google now and wireless tether. I've tried a few wireless tether apps from the play store. My CR-48 sees the SSID, but can't connect, even if I shut off WiFi encryption. Any ideas? I'm about ready to go back to custom roms.

And I got wireless tether working. I'm not sure exactly which change I made fixed it, but I think it was enabling the alternate routing method.

I recently purchased and immediately rooted my new HTC Rezound. With much issue, I finally achieved what I wanted, CM9. Sadly though, I cannot seem to get the radio to work in any form. It seems I need to update my radio from everything I have searched, and I know how to do that, but I have no idea what radio I need to download, nor where to find it. For temp reasons, I am running a rooted, desensed ICS
So my question for you is, where do I get the new radio from? Do I have to download a stock Rom again, relock and force an OTA update?

Witch radios are the newest I should have and should I flash to get the best quality and lte cause I'm not picking up signal and I don't think this is up to date.. Also when you do this are you flashing two separate radios at once or individually naming then the PG05 IMG in fast boot.. And where would I download these? I tried reading a thread on it but it was too confusing. Thanks for you're advice.
You're on the latest radio already. Some people have better results with older radios as every phone is different. I am currently running the 605.9 radios because I was having data drops with the most recent radios.

Have you tried removing your battery and sim card, placing them back,
and then rebooting? This is what's generally required to reestablish the connection and update your prl, etc...might just help.

I have used that method several time and it works occasionally. I think his problem is more related to using aosp than anything. The most recent radios work pretty well with 7.2 I think that 7.1.1 just has that issue no matter what though.

Have you tried getting a new SIM card? that was my problem
I am currently running Cleanrom GBE 1.7.5, and I want to install an ICS rom; any suggestions on that front would be appreciated.
A larger problem is that I honestly have no idea how to go about installing a new rom. I installed Cleanrom back in late March, and didn't really give it another thought. Thanks to the excellent primer post, I know my terminology, but I don't know which terms apply to my phone.
For example, S-OFF/S-ON. I don't know which state my device is in nor how to check.
I know I never poked any paperclips in the back, but I did have to register on some HTC website to get a specific key for my device (and subsequently lost the text file)
Basically, could someone
1. Suggest a good ROM
2. Give me a summary of how to proceed with installing it.
Thanks!

I should mention that I don't really care whether the ROM has Sense or not.

Before somebody claims you need S-Off, you don't.
I tried the S-Off procedure on one of my Rezounds & could never get it to work, but if you flash a ROM & then flash the boot image right after the ROM you can do whatever you want.

Looking at the Business Sense ROM, it has different procedures depending on the firmware you are running. Which firmware is it referring to, and how would I check it?

Newts RC3 one XXX is completely stable.
The only thing keeping me from running it as my daily driver is the HDMI out feature doesn't work & I use that all the time.

I'm having terrible 4g issues. i got a replacement thunderbolt a little while back and flashed eternity which im not too happy with on there. but i never flashed a new rom because i was told that the new radios on the most current hardware would supprt it. sure enough it did but the 4g doesnt work like its supposed to. just goes in and out and stuff
since i'm not too good with radios i need to know which one would be the best to flash. and why if someone doesnt mind explaining it to me. thanks!

Are you currently running the most updated 605.19 stock radios?
You ARE if you go to settings, about phone, software information, more, and the baseband version reads 1.49.00.0406w_1, 0.01.79.0331w_1
If these are not the numbers you see, flash these radios from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24992678
If these are the numbers you see, then it should be working properly. If not, you may have installed an older version of Eternity. Check to make sure you flashed the most updated one.
Or the 4G in your area may be simply going in and out. Try flashing another ROM to verify this.

I'm pretty sure the LTE radios they used were from the 2.11.605.19 OTA. They may have flashed a different CDMA radio, but Idk. The leaked LTE radio causes most phones to reboot a lot.
Here's a link to the combo radios though. I suppose it never hurts to try them out... the outcome varies by phone.

But it is still recommended to use the 2.11.605.19 radios... which I posted a link for them above.

I've even had luck with the old 2.11.605.9 radios.
Try them if you'd like.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396408
Just be careful flashing different radios. If you flash a bad radio, it can brick you.
Also, I was always told to never flash the same radio that is already installed. So if you flash the .9 radios and they are currently installed, don't flash them again until you flashed a different radio.

Here's the situation, my phone is running great on SuperLTE or any other Sense rom. Excellent battery, no signal problems, no freezing, just a reliable piece of technology. The problem comes in when I try to run anything other than a stock style rom.
When I flash cm10, everything works good, except for sporadic mms sending and receiving. If I flash any of the miui builds I have a messaging LOS after a reboot that my phone can not recover from and a full wipe is required.
I have tried reflashing radios, prl and profile updates. Tried doing hands free activations. About the only thing I have not tried is running the RUU. Would this make any difference? I'm s-off with hboot 1.12, 1.12.11.0809 radio. With the JB update dropping any day should I just wait for the new firmware and try that first.
Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I would read through the OP for CM10 and see if anybody else has had the same issues. If Sense-based ROM's work fine for you, I'd be inclined to say it's CM10, not your phone. Also, if and when JB drops, I'd wait for a rooted version from one of the devs, as opposed to losing root and potentially other issues.
