Anyone use a good solar charger? - HTC Droid DNA

I'm in the military, currently stationed in the Mojave desert and I was wondering if anyone knows and uses a good solar charger for their phone. Yes I know I can Google it, but I'm looking for a first hand type of reference.

For first hand style knowledge I'd suggest the user reviews on rei.com . I'm also in the market for a good solar charger and that's the best place I've found with user reviews that seem real legit

First, thanks for your service to our country. Second, yes, I have used a solar charger for a few years now and it still performs well. It's called the "Solio". It has 3 panels that fan out when in use and you insert a pencil through the middle to prop it up. It will hold a full charge for about a year. I've left it outside once and left for the weekend... upon return, it got wet and thought it was toast. But after a few days, it started working again. The one I got cost about a hundred dollars but it was worth it to me.
It also has AC charging capability too.

Any need for Accessories?

It's a perfect little phone, apart from a screen protector (of which there are more than a few 3.5 inch ones around) I can't think of a single extra I need this phone...

A lot of people like to put it in a case of some sort. Nokia E71 stuff is often a good fit, until we get more choice in dedicated things.
Other accessories like car holders and chargers are also popular.
I cant believe we still dont have any "official cases".
I mean this phone sells like crazy and everyday we hear about one more country releasing it o.o
An infra-red remote control for the tv. I can control media from my pc via gmote, but if I switch to the tv I have to get up and use the remote
I've got an old windows pda with infra-red, maybe I can get that hooked up somehow
The Blade has recently been hacked to enable the USB host mode of the chipset, so there are many accessories that are now possible (with the right drivers, of course).
how about an extended battery?
I want a proper dock first, what can be connected to the PC/AC supply, and makes the device into a "display" mode, landscape, news and such things, weather, and wakes you up with a special tone telling the time, weather in english, etc. Like "Good morning, [google username here]! The time is [current time]. Weather around [your city here] is [weather of your city here]."

Yes, I want an upgrade for my battery. Battery Type: "Standard battery, Li-Ion 1250 mAh" is not enough for regular use.
i think that some TPU cases will do fine with this phone, could not find any yet
A fast search on eBay and you can find alot of cases for the blade now !
I use a silicon case to protect the unit from falls and also a holder on my mountain bike and car.An Android phone has great apps for gps use its a shame to not use them.

Should theoretically allow me to recharge two times the battery, and it's the perfect companion when you're on the road.

droid razr maxx battery door is missing and battery comes out... fixable?

Bought a Droid razr Maxx phone on Craigslist for "parts", but the screen is scratch free, the connections or snug (even compatible with my thunderbolt). I even called Verizon to have them verify a clean esn and compatability to deity my numbe, and the said everything checks ok, just waitining on the new mini sim card to arive next week.
So beyond the good news, her here is the the bad news the phone is missing the back battery door cover and the battery is removed. I have tried to replace the battery as illustrated and while being charched that phone turns on but then shows a big battery with a "?" On it......
I did a little research, and these batteries appear to have no been intended for removal... Is this possible or worth fixing?
Thanks to everyone in advance
It is possible to fix...hence the whole MAXX conversion kits. But you do lose the "splash-resitant'ness". Haha. Most likely you need to diagnose why the battery isn't being recognized. Try a new battery and make sure the connections are sound.

why battery isn't recognized???
I deal with a lot of 12V DC electrical and some automotive A/C electrical (mostly audio/video type stuff. I know a little bit about Home A/C wiring, but I know little to nothing about micro electronics. It appears to me though that the only connecting points from the battery the phone is a sort of electrical ribbon on the bottom left ( looking at back of phone) as opposed to actual contact points of batteries on most phones. If this is the only conection, and the tape is ripped out of the battery, then taking the bottom of the battery apart and soldering somehow would be required????? I wish I could find a youtubr video of someone removing and replacing or repairing one of these batteries. Or if my local "icrap repair shop" could fix it. Didn't some of the iphones also come with non removable batteries?
There must have been a reason why the original owner decided to remove the battery from the Maxx, and sell the rest for parts. I would think the phone has some kind of other major issue beyond the battery issue you're having.
I understand that idea of thinking, but i can say I know for 100% fact that before the battery was pulled, the phone worked perfectly. I am friends with with a Verizon store manager and this phone was torn open on the display, he assumes someone was trying to steal the display phone, and got nervous and left it behind. The phone is now considered an inventory loss, so I aquired it for little to nothing. I would really Like to get this phone working as it probably isn't worth much in It's current condition.

I attempted to post attachtments containing pics
See that the electrical ribbon is ripped the battery is no good it would need a new battery or if you could find a new ribbon connector and replaced the ripped on but that'll be difficult but cheeper than a new battery. The two screws need to be removed in order to change the battery.

Since I'm not trying t convert an original Droid razr to a razor jazz, wouldn't it be less expensive to just by the battery from the same company w/out the conversion kit? It comes with the ribbon tape attached to the battery

Yep, though you'll presumably want a battery cover to go with as well.

The ribbon cable is ripped in half and can't be fixed you would need a whole new ribbon cable connector for the battery and then you would need to solder it to the battery which is very difficult. I don't think you can buy a new ribbon cable for the battery.

Charge Card (credit card size usb charger) - Kickstarter

Hey all
Found an awesome "charge card" on Kickstarter yesterday and pledged for it.
Pretty much its a credit card sized card, with a flexible usb male end that comes out of it so you can plug it to the phone and then to usb to charge the phone. very nice to store though and always on you
It's $18.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nomad/chargecard-for-iphone (i know the link says iphone, but they made an android version too)
I am not affiliated at all with this company or the people, just found it and wanted to share, I'm excited for it.
Nice concept but pointless...not really of much use to me I wouldn't have thought.

How is this useless?
Do you carry a wallet with you everywhere you go? I do.
Do you carry a backpack with you everywhere you go? I do not.
Do you find your phone running out of charge when you are out and about? I do.
Do you want to carry a USB cable bundled up in your pockets all day long? I do not. Do you find that might be a little bulky? I do.
Would you like a replacement for a USB cable, that is easily kept in something you do, in fact, carry all day long with you in your pocket, that costs $18? I do.
Also I hope the sarcasm and social satire that THE ONION provides has not been lost on you, and that you do understand what The Onion actually IS? But I am going to venture a guess that, no...you do not understand.
No its not lost on me.
I'll talk from ny experience.....
One place I use my cable is at home on my pc or laptop or in a wall socket with the adapter. So at home I wouldn't need it.
Now, on the go I have a charger in my car. I drive everywhere. At work I also have a cable which stays in my draw. My battery is never low during the day after a full charge, let alone to the point where I need a credit card USB charger in my wallet which I'd have to pull out and then go looking for a USB source?
I'm just telling you my opinion, it looks great but has no real point. Yes it fits in your wallet. But what's the use in that.... You could cut a $1 USB cable down and slot it into your wallet. ( extended flap which takes notes)
Occasionally when I do go out the house with others I'll take a really small shoulder bag. Just because my pockets cant take all my stuff, inhaler, 2 phones, headphones, body spray, sun glasses, wallet etc etc.... And maybe my USB cable with the car lighter adapter
I'm not criticising the product. But for me it serves no purpose.

Exactly, for me this serves a great purpose as I am often on the move a lot with my laptop and even though I do have a charging cable with me, i would rather carry this around since it seems like such an elegant solution. It would take up less space in my bag and never tangle, win/win...
Thanks OP for posting this as I never noticed it on kickstarter.
PS, i hope that guy that posted that video didnt get a pebble. and if he did GTFO and stop trolling, even as a joke that video is stupid...

Atrix Lapdock with Droid Razr Maxx

I ordered it a couple of days off of Amazon for $60. Flipped the ports and shaved down the plastic pieces to make it fit and it works like a charm for both my wife's stock ICS and my rooted custom ICS ROM (Eclipse 1.1). I know some folks like the old webtop interface better but the interface is so smooth now. And plus, it has one thing that other tablets don't have: touch typing without an additional peripheral which was important to me. It is also definitely better with a bluetooth mouse but the trackpad is passable.
If you have a lapdock, where did you find extension cables for the ports in case I didn't want to shove it into the back? The best I can find right now for a set of female to male micro HDMI and USB cables is almost $30 including shipping (that's half the cost of the dock).
Also, what are some of your favorite apps in webtop mode? Been digging QuickOffice and the stock Google apps.

Not much of a link to post. I read this thread yesterday. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343268
I called my local radio shack and they had one. The guy working there couldn't believe it was marked that low on clearance. I hurried up there before they could tell me "it was sold". I'm not there yet but I do use it more frequently than I thought I would. The keyboard takes a bit getting used to and the mouse is huge, too.
After a few days with it too all i can say is that i love it. My Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7272 gaming laptop is a monster of a thing to be handling so when i found out about the $20 deal i thought i would give it a shot. Its pretty sweet. Charges
he phone while using it (not that i have to worry about charge with Razr Maxx). Wireless mouse works perfectly and keyboard has no delay at all.
2 things i dont like: 1 The area to the right of where you plug your phone in gets really hot. Even after 10 minutes of use. I'm sure that will shorten the life of cables and conections in that area.
2.I cant get my maxx to sit well enough in the plug so it keeps disconnecting here and there. Seen as the maxx has to be standing up i didnt really expect it to work. So i'll keep am eye open for a good deal on small extension cables for it so it can be chilling on the table. Or i'll keep trying to think of a way to mount the phone on the dock.

Anybody interested in buying an Atrix lapdock that has been reconfigured for RAZR?
Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is allowed on the forum. I was selling my Atrix lapdock that I was using for RAZR MAXX on eBay, and got into a big mess with buyer and eBay (long story). Anyway, I don't trust eBay anymore so I'm looking to see if anybody is interested in buying it on XDA. If so, please PM me. Looking for inductive charging back plate

Hello all,
The microUSB port on my Rezound has recently taken to working only at certain angles, so if I'm not paying attention when I plug it in, it sometimes doesn't charge properly. For that reason I started looking to buy the inductive charging plate, but it appears to be out of stock everywhere! Does anyone know of a place that might still be selling them, and/or would someone who has one be willing to sell it to me?
Thanks for any leads!

My bad! It is in stock at the Verizon online store. What threw me off was that it's not listed in the Rezound's accessories page for some reason.

I believe any Qi supporting charging mat should work with it, the one test I saw used this one and it's Qi I believe - http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phone-accessories/lg-WCP-700
Correct, any standard Qi charger should work. The one I bought is the Nokia DT-900 wireless charging plate, which has worked perfectly for me and is generally less expensive than the LG plate that Verizon officially endorses for the Rezound.
Any one try this with a custom ROM and kernel? I mean it should work, just wondering if it didn't. Thinking of getting one, but don't want to buy if I cannot use AOSP ROMs.
