Where to buy genuine replacement display? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A friend of mine has come to me with his broken SGSIII display, and we want to replace it. I Google'd around but it's impossible to tell what is actually genuine. Any advice?

WHERE THE PRODUCT IS LOCATED
this is one of those factors that won't just tell you the quality of the product by looking. But, if you are buying the product out of the US, and the price is super, dirt cheap; be careful. I am not saying that all sellers in China sell low quality parts. In fact, there are plenty of sellers here in the US that do it. But what I am saying is that is where a lot of the low quality parts come from. And if for some reason you do buy from there, it may be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get any sort of return or exchange.
ehh.. just check this ebay guide out http://reviews.ebay.com/How-To-Spot-BAD-QUALITY-iPhone-4-LCD-Digitizers?ugid=10000000125935382
it is similar on other devices as well

Where to Buy Faceplates / Housings

Hi all,
I think I've searched all sites I know of but am still unable any that offer faceplates or complete housings for our Touch HD (yes, I'm one of those who have the issue with the coating of the faceplate)
Does anyone have a good reliable source which could have them yet?
Thanks in advance.
www.pda-parts.nl
Thanks, but that's one of the sources I know. They don't seem to have what I need.
Or maybe my Dutch is so bad that I cannot search efficiently?
for anyone reading this.. i think he means.. replacement housing for the phone.. the actual pieces from the phone.. NOT extra phone cases or covers..
Of course, I need a replacement faceplate. I thought it was clear enough
i know its .....
probably not what you'll want to hear, but your probably not going to find anywhere other than htc for replacement housing, they'll keep those moulds well under raps.
then your faced with the warranty validity if you manage to source some parts. who's ur service provider, and i'm sure you'll get a warranty replacement due to your devices freezing up / locking all the time. contact them and moan!
i'm sure someone, somewhere will be able to replace due to its software faults!

Tmobile touch pro 2 Digitizer?

Hi, I have just cracked the digitizer and screen on my beloved Tmobile touch pro 2, anyone know of a place that supplies HTC parts for this model phone? I've replaced my HTC Wizard's screen a few times during it's service to me for 4 years so I would be entirely comfortable with performing this job myself.
your best bet is ebay but becafeful i hear there is a difference in the digitizers for different models
Saw the digitizer at www.cnn.cn. Good luck!
Digitizer
I found a lot of Digitizers but none of them are T mobile. Can any one find one for t mobile.

Try a search. There are several threads about this subject.
As for t-mobile housing I will suggest to get upper housing from http://eyworkshops.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=6780499 (someone try it out, i haven't order from them before.)
then http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT for the middle housing.
Hope it helps
I don't recommend Eyworkshops, finally got a refund after a month waiting for my Tmobile Touch Pro 2 digitizer.
Still looking for a reputable dealer that has one with the top housing.
I sent mine into HTC. They replaced my digitizer for $113. I know it's a lot, but it's impossible to find them, so at least I have a working phone now!
A bit expensive but I might have to do that.
I found these but they cost $23 each with a minimum of 3. I need one if we can find 2 more people we can get em. Ship[ping will be free so if anyone is into it PM me and lets get these things.

[Q] [DIY?] Screen Replacement...

Ok so I like never drop my phone, I'm really good about keeping it nice and clean, but I don't have a case. So the other day at a school pep rally I dropped it and it got stepped on and all and I'm so upset that it got all scratched up, maybe one or two little cracks and its really bothering me
so anyway, does anyone know anyway to get a hold of a new screen online or somewhere to replace it or something cuz I couldnt find it?
Short answer...can't find them for sale. And when they are made available they will likely cost $200 or more.
Long answer.....
A big part of my business is repairing smartphones. And unfortunately Samsungs are the most expensive screen on the market.
It's a trade off of sorts. Any samsung screen is a factory oem part, thus the cost.
Where as iPhone, that had Samsung making many of their screens, has much cheaper screens available because third party companies, Hong Kong / China, make lower quality parts for much less.
So while it's nice having a true factory replacement for the phone, something that is incredibly hard to get for the iPhone (call up foxconn), it's much more expensive, as in $150-$200, iPhone being around $35.
And for some messed up reason Samsung screens have been getting extremely hard to find.
The two bigger smartphone part places online: repairsuniverse.com and globalrepairparts.com (requires business license to purchase from) don't have a screen for the I777, and out of stock for the infuse.
I've been having a tough time finding one for the infuse ($150ish). Most places that had them are out of stock (ebay has had some posted the past couple days but I've never bought from those sellers, hopefully they turn out reliable). And it's been that way for a few weeks. Even the websites you've never heard of, don't have them in stock. Tried buying from one that listed it as in stock, next day they refunded the money. Their reason - not in stock and not sure when it will be.
I don't know what's going on with Samsung screens being so hard to find, but I hope it ends.
And as far as replacing, super easy. One of the easiest phones to work on. Most Samsungs have the same in general layout. Watch a video on YouTube for replacing the Captivate's screen and you'll see what I mean.
If you do replace it, and your old screen still displays a picture, sell it. You'll probably be able to get $100 for it, even with the cracks.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
ok thanks alot man, cuz i probably would drop 150 for it if I can get the chance for it, but I'd kinda wanna wait until I can start to see it come out in bigger numbers just for reliability's sake
If you ever do see it, or better, a few of them, on one of those sites it'd be great if you'd post that back here, thanks.
Will do. I've been checking every week.

Cheap Android devices and their quality

Hi, I want to make this thread to discuss about cheap Android smartphones and tablets, pointing that I have a cheap tablet. I got it like a month ago, I kept in the best condition, until I once by mistake hit it against some metal(I had it in a plastic bag) and like, after a couple of days I noticed it had been SCRATCHED! Even when my smartphone CRASHED down onto the ground and the battery pack(together with the battery) I looked at it and there was no scratch AT ALL! Tell me what you think about the situation and keep this thread going(I don't want to get banned off XDA).
Well like in many other cases, "you get what you pay for" In this case, alot of electronics if not most, are made in china so you really have to be careful with low cost devices because while the insides might be the same or very similar as premium devices, they have to make up for the reduced price tag somewhere.

[Group Buy] Deff High Grade Glass Screen Protector

I decided to make a dedicated thread, as in two other threads a few people were interested. Currently, what looks to be the best fitting tempered glass screen protector is available only in Japan. In both black and white. I have no clue on what price we can get, but I will leave this topic up for a week, and if we can get enough people interested, I will contact the manufacturer and attempt to set a deal.
Some links of the screen protector.

I'm interested assuming it actually fits the way that it should.
Edit: it looks like the price on their shop is around 32$ USD if you convert the currency. That's not bad if it works plus it looks nice. Its too bad iloome never came around and made one just like this.
I'd register an interest, but (1) I'd like to know whether it actually works - all we have to go on so far is the advertising material, and (2) I'm based in the UK, so a shipped-to-US deal doesn't help me.
If somebody on here could try one and confirm that it works, and they would ship to the UK (or ideally worldwide, given the global nature of this forum) then I'd certainly buy one.

No one is able to get just one, and if they ship to US we can forward to UK no problem. Currently, unless we find someone who lives in Japan and has an N6, willing to buy one to review it.. We have to trust the advertised video. However, I have never been disappointed with any products coming from Japan.. The Chinese knock-off.. well I wouldn't trust, although someone purchased one and will write a review once it arrives.
Just read the Chinese knock off is plastic, too bad I ordered it already...very disappointed
In for black one. We need this.

That sux.. Do let us know more when you receive it though.
I'm interested in this. When would the trigger be for the order? After we reach XX interests?
I'd be in for one possibly two
I'm hoping this will work out and not be sh*tty because that would make a lot of people unhappy. I wonder if there is a way they can send a sample over for someone to test if we are doing a large order.
