First off here is my info:
Phone: AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note i717
ROM: Cyanogenmod 10 quincyatt nightly build 12/23 (in attempt to remedy my problem)
Using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958944&highlight=install+cyanogenmod in installed the 11//14 stable build initially without too much trouble.
I did find right away that I was unable to locate any camera application or any way to access it other than the lockscreen shortcut.
When I attempted to use the shortcut from the lockscreen it simply does nothing. It doesn't crash my phone, but it also does not open my camera.
I also tried installing a couple of camera applications from the play store and they start up, but the camera never activates.
This problem persisted even when I upgraded to todays nightly build 12/23, also so far I have noticed no new problems with this build as opposed to the 11/14 stable build.
I have searched for a solution for this problem in the forums, and perhaps I missed something, if that is the case then please direct me to the proper thread.
I tried posting this in the development section only to find out that I am unable to (I've been using this site for a while but never needed to register to ask a question).
If anyone has had this problem and/or knows how to fix it I would greatly appreciate your input.
I apologize if I have left anything out, if I have then let me know and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Edit: I updated to the 12/24 nightly build today and it appears to have resolved the camera issue right away. If anyone else is having this problem then I hope this helps.
ill give $5 to the person that fixes this.

Well as I stated in my edit, the 12/24 nightly appears to have fixed this issue so far as i can tell. Also updated to the 12/25 nightly and the camera still works. One bad thing about this is that I have experienced more than a few reboots, but my phone starts up so fast afterwards that its a small price to pay for having my camera back.
As always, make a backup before you flash the newest nightly but I haven't seen too many problems other than the occasional crash of a couple apps and the unfortunate reoccurring crash of Apollo which is annoying.
Let me know if this fixes your issue, if it does then I'm glad I could help.
Tried CM10 nightly myself tonight, and was quite happy with it, until ....
Random reboots ....5 in 3 hours.
Camera is good, but the menu button was iffy ....
It's getting better, but I'm gonna stay with my backup for a bit longer I think ....g
12/25 is a bit sketchy

Yeah I decided to try the 12/25 build and didn't notice any improvements from the 12/24. Ironically about an hour after my last post my phone then went into a reboot loop that I couldn't stop until I removed my battery. I had to boot into cwm recovery and then reflash the 12/24 build. So far this is the most stable nightly that allows for the camera to work without causing too many issues besides one incident I had the first day I flashed it.
I recommend people stay away from 12/25 as it was extremely unstable in my experience. I may try the 12/26 build simply because I can, but I'll definitely keep the 12/24 on hand if that fails as well.

Anyone getting an annoying triangle-shaped black flicker across the left of the screen when viewing content on iplayer?
I'm using stock browser, Flash 11 stock 3.1 Tom with TouchWiz.
If so, any suggestions to clear it?
Thanks
Did you manage to resolve this issue. Just recently bought my tab and have the same issue.
I saw one fix which suggest to come out of full screen view and go back in (sometimes requires a couple of attempts).
The above actually works for me (requires to be done for every session). But would be interesting to know what the cause of it is. I have not experienced it in any other sort of video.
Same here
I have this problem also, really annoying.
Hopefully a future Flash player update will resolve this.
Same here, p7500 16GB. Same issue
All stock no custom roms tried at all
Signed, quite frustrating and only seems to be iplayer for me
I still have the issue but find the full-screen back to small-screen toggle seems to help. How annoying. The most recent Flash update didn't fix it, and the most recent ROM update in the UK (Vodaphone) didn't solve it.
Had the same issue on my 8.9 tab after an automatic update of Flash.
Uninstalled the update and all was well again.
Your mileage might vary on a 10.1 but here's hoping this sorts you guys out too.

Yes that also worked for me, however I do wonder what we are missing out on from the later releases. Hope adobe will release another update that fixes the bits it broke with the last update. Thanks.
Ive noticed this once on mine, but i had my bluetooth headphones connected and just thought it was interference from them. After i disconnected them and just used the internal speakers, it was fine again. Ive not had the problem since. My problem is with the iplayer itself, you cant keep it running in the background which prevents you from multitasking!

I have the black triangle issue with latest version of Flash Player. Can someone let me know what version of flash you are using to get rid of the triangle please?
I posted this on the CM forums about a week ago and didn't get any helpful response so I'm cross posting it here in the hopes that the XDA community will be able to help me.
I'm on CM7.1 right now and for some reason whenever I try to record a video the camera app crashes (the phone itself needs to be restarted). This is pretty annoying, and I'm curious as to what the solution might be (if any). My phone also freezes when I try to use Instagram's effects feature and it's incredibly annoying because I would love to use some of the effects that come with it when taking scenic photos.
Also, I tried installing CM 7.2 but after rebooting I got the "kernel panic upload mode" screen. I spent a few hours trying to recover my phone. I ended up going through a few versions of Gingerbread and ICS before finally being able to get the phone to work on 2.3.6 and then CM7.1. What's causing this problem? I want to switch to 7.2, or even CM9 (or MIUI) but before I attempt an upgrade again I wanna know how to avoid the Kernel Panic problem. I'm currently using Siyah (sp?) Kernel, if that helps any. Not sure which version, but it's at least 2 months old I would say.
Cheers and thanks in advance.
seriously...nobody has any suggestions? even for the kernel question??
Hi guys,
I've been a member for ages, but this is my first post - thanks for all the help you've inadvertently given me over the last year or so!
I'm a bit of a Cyanogenmod groupie - I almost always install the latest nightly builds on my I9300, several times a week at least. Apart from the odd camera glitch here and there, I've never had any serious issues, and I absolutely love it - so much nicer, cleaner and more responsive than stock.
But the last 4 or 5 days, when I've updated to the latest nightly release, I get loads of SuperUser errors, and Tasker seems to have completely vanished, along with the few widgets I have created to go with it. All that is left are Android icons, with a toast error saying "not installed" when I try it.
I also can't seem to get onto the internet, either via 3g or wi-fi, but I think that is a local problem with my router...
I would re-download Tasker and reinstall it, but why should it vanish in the first place? And when I try and restore it from my Titanium backup, it just takes forever and never finishes - this makes me think the new nightlies are not compatible with the current release of Tasker (or the other way around - d'uh)...
I hope I'm wrong, and just doing something stupid. 'cos I use Tasker a lot and this is stopping me from updating CM.
Any advice appreciated!
Cheers guys,
J

You're a star - it worked like a charm! The only thing that seemed to still be affected was the shortcut to my phone app, which I just deleted and re-dragged to my home screen.
Thanks so much for your help :good:
Finally, I registered today and this is my first post!
I have read this forum for some time and searched not only this forum but googled but couldn't find clear answers for my questions on the BeanStalk ROM which I love so much. I have tried bunch of other ROMs but none of them satisfied me in terms of stability.
Here are issues of the Beanstalk ROM on my Galaxy Note (Telus) and questions.
4.3 (tested latest few builds)
1. With turnning off most of options such as phone, data, wifi, NFC (annoying, default should be disabled for me), the battery life is good
2. Under the battery usage graph, Awake is off when it is supposed to be for example at night in sleep setting as mentioned above.
3. Sometimes, the screen won’t turn off automatically after set time-out, for example 1min, and even with the power button. Reboot or reboot in recovery mode doesn't help. This happened this afternoon at work and had to power off until coming back home to re-flash. Does anyone knows why this happens and how to fix it?
4.4 (tested latest few builds)
1. I also tried to turn off all the communications and wake up settings (same as I have done with 4.3), but couldn't make the Awake bar in the Battery graph off. Something seems to keep waking the phone. Couldn't find what it was so far. Any idea?
2. Well, this is known issue, but the video recording doesn’t work. The latest build released yesterday seems to find a work around with Camera MX though.
If the 'Awake' issue can be fixed, I would be happy with 4.4.
I'm not a big fan of NFC and looks to me just a battery drainer, but it keeps turnning back on after uncheck. One tip to fix this (bad) behavior I found somewhere in this forum was to uncheck and without leaving the setting screen and reboot using power button.
Hope someone can answer my questions.
Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. Since I posted these questions, there were few times of Beanstalk ROM updates and now my phone is very stable. I'm very happy with the last build. I'm also using polluti0n's patch for the video issue. Since I updated the build on 3/7, there has not been a single reboot. So far soooo good. As a new member with less than 10 posts, I can't post any reply and thank Patch Adams for his great work. I could just click the Thank button.
Thank you.

Glad to see that more and more people are following the patch's thread with beanstalk for the i717, and also glad to hear your phone is working fine. I also suffer from the junior member restriction so I read and try and see what I can do to follow quietly but see if eventually could be of some help. As a kind of fyi you might wanna see what I believe they might work on from the most recent comments in the beanstalk i717 thread:
galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-roms/beanstalk-rom-with-android-4-4-2-for-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100sgh-t989
I found this while trying to find beanstalk for a friend who has an S2 T989 and realized that the version they have there is using diablo kernel rather than CM or PAC.. from the time I had to play around with it while I flashed it on my friends S2 it seems to be very smooth, like the one patch built for the i717. Pollution was mentioning something about maybe using diablo on the next build, so we'll see if it happens. Also, although totally unrelated I realized that the version used on the link above from galaxys2root is slightly more advanced build-wise than the version here.
Enjoy your day!

Thank you for your reply. I'm also glad to see more people who has i717 are interested in Beanstalk ROM. I have flashed so many ROMs for far whenever it gives me an error or reboots but Beanstalk is the longest one I'm using right now. I also expecting better versions with the new builds with diablo kernal or the updated CM (hopefully with video recording).
Cheers!

Hi! So the last thing you want to see is a reply saying I have the same issues. I was wondering what Camera MX is? My phone will not record on BS either along with youtube and any other video unable to play. It just keeps loading until it gives up. I noticed you hadn't listed youtube videos as a problem. Did you find a fix for it? Ill post back if I find anything.

Hey guys, can one of you test SlimKat that I built for the dlx? I am 93% sure it'll boot up
Hopefully, if everything works out, I would be able to build it for you guys on a weekly basis

testing
Downloaded a few hours ago. Booted first try, had an issue with supersu but worked through that. It is pretty smooth so far. Messaging works. Have not tested camera or video or Bluetooth calling. Only issue so far is screen flashes s on/off when call connects but I think that is probably after market screen and not the build; although I do think it has something to do with the kernel. Let you know more as I go forward.
Great I'm using the cm m7 kernel for now. I'll experiment with other kernel repos.
Is there another one you recommend?
Hey,
I wanted to thank you guys for the ROM.
It's way cooler than all the blinkfeed one floating around
I know that you are looking for a bugs. I've been using it for three days now and I've noticed a couple of things :
First, that su wasn't working right off the bat. That's easy to fix though.
The other thing that bothered me was that the apps off the play store aren't downloading on the first attempt. They sort of fail with an error code a couple of times.
The recent apps panel that shows up on the right doesn't have the most recent app until you open it a second time or you wait a while.
And for some reason, the spacebar on the keyboard doesn't trigger 100% of the time. I don't know if that's just because of the way I type or the fact that I'm used to the HTC keyboard on this phone.
Other than that, I haven't noticed any glitches or reboots or any other random stuff.
Keep up the good work.
