Hi all,
My sister has a galaxy s2 and her little son tried to break into it by breaking te pattern.
But after a lot of tries it didnt work so u get at the part where u have to enter your google play/gmail account.
At that moment he turned down the phone and now it is every time stuck at the loading screen, or boot screen? (Where u see the Galaxy s2 text)
It doesnt shut down or loop to.
Phone is not rooted or a custom rom. Just a stock rom.
She got also realy important data on her phone so a hard reset is something i realy want to try to avoid.
I searched also on google but i just found solutions for a hard reset but as i said i realy want to avoid that.
Anyone got a other solution that i can try ?
Uhm... Im not really good at this, you still have warranty?
The simplest way is to go to there and they fix it for you, cause you guys are clearly not really good with software etc.

At first thank you for your reply
She still got warranty but as today she got no time to go to the mall to go to the shop where she got it.
And tomorrow and the day after that its christmas here so everything is closed.
At second i realy don't want to be rude or anything but you are kinda wrong..
i know how to work with software.....I rooted and do custom roms on my own galaxy s3. without any problems.
Its just that i dont how to solve this.
Go to recovery mode and wipe cache if not work try to flash stock rom and don't tick factory reset only pda flash...
Merry christmas and Happy new year

Okay i understand, im good with rooting/roms but thats it, just helped a guy fix his soft-brick.
But its possible if you root it and put a custom ROM on it it works, cause you get a new boot animation, im 99% it works after that.

What app did you download? And was it from the play store, or a direct download?
Also, what firmware are you on? If its 4.0.4, factory reset is out of the question, read about the emmc brickbug. If you're not on 4.0.4, then a factory reset will be ok. Before you do that, you can try to fix it by flashing a stock ROM using Odin directly over the top of your current setup. Go to Samfirmware.com, download the firmware you're on, and flash it. I really would think you're gonna have to factory reset, but give it a go.

You said me about Flashing a stock ROM.
here can u say what this method actually do?
is it delete all my important data,apps,contacts,messages...?
or it just repair the frozen firmware and leave all my data?

Alright, you need to do some reading before you attempt to fix it. The situation you're in is easily fixed. As MistahBungle said, you'll in all likelihood have to do a factory reset. That will wipe your data, but it's probably the only way to fix. As far as your data goes, it won't wipe anything saved on an internal/external sd card, but it will wipe all apps, and messages. Contacts are easily recovered assuming you have them synced with your Google account. Search how to factory reset from recovery.
To answer your question, flashing the same stock ROM on top of your old one with Odin will not wipe data. It is also very unlikely to fix your situation. You'll have to factory reset.

I don't know how else to say it. Factory reset will wipe everything that's not on internal/external sd. Contacts sync back through a google account. The rest you lose. As your phone isn't rooted, there's no backups for you to restore.

You can sit there wringing your hands for however long you want at the prospect of maybe losing some data which you should have backed up in the first place, or you can fix your phone.

Hi all,
I was running XWLPT and decided to try Chameleon 1.3. After flashing, it would not boot up. I've tried all kinds of things for the last 2 days, and read quite a bit. I've even tried the method in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458
At the moment, I can get into recovery and I can get to download (power+vol down+middle button). But it's stuck at the Galaxs SII GT-I9100 very beginning boot up. Nothing seems to be working. I've tried several pit repartition and I know it's risky. But at this point, I have nothing to lose I guess.
Can anyone help?

Boot into recovery, wipe data (factory reset), wipe cache and try to flash the custom ROM again.
Good luck !
The issue is, I can't even wipe factory data. It will start and then just sits there, unable to complete the wipe. I'm so out of ideas.

Have you tried upload stock rom to phone on download mode? I saw your checked link, maybe you should try with different stock roms like 2.3.5 and etc.. If you try that, what the say ODIN as error?
Flash a siyah kernel with odin.afther you have cwm...
Inviato dal mio GT-N7000 con Tapatalk 2
First of all stop doing things that you are not sure about...
If you can get into Recovery then your problem is simple.
1. Wipe Data/Factory Reset,
2. Wipe cache partition,
3. Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache,
4. Flash a new rom (from sdcars probably),
5. Wipe cache partition,
6. Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Let me know if this helped.
Hey guys, I apreciate all the responses. panagiostis4te - I am unable to wipe data/factor reset. It just hangs trying to do that. I've let it sit and it never completes.
sinasi11 - ODIN never throws an error. Depending on what firmware I flash, it either get stuck at datafs or data. It just sits there. I've even left it overnight and nothing happens.
I was able to flash to completion a few or the 4.0.4 rom (XWLPF) and it would reboot, show the android logo with animated progress bar. Then it reboots and is then stuck at the Galaxy S2 very first boot screen. I'm so out of ideas.

Questions:
1 . Have you seen This Warning Thread before?
# I don't think so
2. Were you running a safe Custom kernel before flashing Chameleon?
# I don't think so.
Here are my conclusions
1.
You were affected by the infamous Brick bug.
# You should blame yourself for this, for apparently failing to read that sticky warning thread, or even ask questions before messing with your phone while running the Dreadful ICS 4.0.4 firmware!
2.
The reason why your phone is still partially coming on is because you have a partially insane emmc chip.
# If you were using a fully insane chip, your phone would just black out without any sign of life.
3.
Your Nand /Emmc chip is corrupt!
4.
You can try combinations of pit file and ICS bootloader (where suggested). Who knows, you might be lucky
# Visit here and try the suggested solution
## If it doesn't work, then you can try the combinations suggested here.
5.
Jtag service will probably not work for you.
6.
The only (probably) solution (if the suggestions in 4. doesn't work for you), will be for you to replace the motherboard of your phone.
# Changing motherboard costs between $120 to $200
7.
If your phone is still under a valid warranty, the best solution would be to send it to Samsung Service center. Repair if free.
Sorry about what happened to your phone, but you really must shoulder the blame!
jokesy - thanks for the suggestions. I accept the blame. I was running stock and I read the Chameleon 1.3 thread and didn't see any warnings. I thought everything was safe. I guess lesson learned the hard way!

It's a Monday and I've got lots of things I need to take care of I've tried some of the suggestions prior to starting this thread but I'm going to give it another shot. Meanwhile, I'm going to try and survive without a phone for a few days. I'm almost ready to give up. I'm going to work on it more tonight. Will post if I have questions. Thanks again jokesy!

I seriously don't know but if you have any important thing you want to extract from your backup, follow these steps:
1. Flash siyah kernel
2. boot to CWM recovery,
- dual boot options
- restore ROM to 2nd ROM (you need about 2.1 Gig free in your internal storage)
- done
3. Boot to your Second ROM
- Extract all info you need
4. Restore these info to your 1st ROM
5. you can delete the Second ROM when done, using the same dual boot menu in CWM recovery.
Thanks Jokesy. I did have 2 backups, Titanium and another backup app (name escape me at the moment). I think I'll restore app data and do it that way instead.
Just go back to original OS

You can go back to the original OS using Odin and a package found on many sites for the original Gingerbread that came on it... then go to Kies and update to the ICS and there you go. I have done this several times and unbricked mine after a mod. This was the best way for me.

You said you have Titanium - it can restore elements out of a nandroid backup, almost everything, stright back into place. Much easier than second ROMs.

Good to know. I am actually waiting for my microsd to sd adaptor to arrive. I accidentally formatted my microsd card with all my data in desperation of trying whatever method to format the device. I accidentally selected format emmc. Took out the card immediately, and am hoping to be able to unformat it in windows since it's using fat32. Fingers crossed!
Hello Internet,
I'll go straight to the problem
I think I bricked my phone
It all started when I was trying to view those damn emoticons that iPhone users keep posting on twitter
a few google searches said that installing fonts to view these emoticons requires rooting
so I rooted my device using Odin
It worked fine
but then I tried installing the fonts
there were 4 of them
the first one installed ok
when I installed the second font
my phone rebooted and nothing appeared on the screen
it only shows the "Samsung Galaxy I9300" part and then nothing
I rooted it again thinking that it might help, and it didn't
now I am trying to unroot it or do anything to make it work
My country "Bahrain" isn't on the firmware download list on sammobile
so I chose Saudi Arabia which is right across the border and their carriers don't lock their phones
I am writing this while the firmware is downloading
but it is taking FOREVER
the old firmware ended in DLD as in XXDLD .. there are more letters obviously but I can't remember
There is another functional unrooted phone in my house from the same store I bought mine
ANY help I get would be welcomed
P.S. If this is in the wrong section, please move it
Try CHECKFUS .

I would first try booting to recovery and wiping cache, then under advanced go to Wipe Dalvik, and if that doesn't work wipe data/factory reset.
If none of those work then reflashing via Odin should get you back up.
Hey bro, try rebooting into recovery mode and wiping cache and dalvik cache, also you may want to flash Poland Release from sammobile which is version 4.1.2 .
I already did a cache wipe and reset to factory whatever
didn't do the davlik thingy though
I sent the phone to a shop that said they knew how to repair it
I think they're over-priced idiots but if they can get it to work ..
once I do get it back I will try it your way if it is still not working
thanks for the replies guys

You should have just reflashed if a factory reset didn't work rather than take it to a shop, that's all it will have needed. The font you flashed probably messed a system file up, and a reflash is all it needed. Flashing a font as root can only cause software issues, and a reflash will solve any of them.
If you can get into download mode or recovery mode you can recover a phone yourself, these repair shops should only be used for known hardware issues or hard bricks.
I think you should read some more information about flashing. I dont mean to be rude or anything, just saying.

You can always run KIES's emergency recovery option to download the original firmware that came in your phone.
Hi everyone,
First of all I would like to say sorry if I am posting the same question as other users before this, but I haven't seen any similar one.
My phone is Samsung Galaxy S II (I9100G).
Yesterday morning after I fully charged my phone, I got some error which I can't recall what it was. (Sorry! )
Then the battery drained very fast so I offed my phone and took out the battery to check if it was alright. Then I put it back.. and I'm stuck at Samsung logo (the big sharp S). I tried restart many times, wiped cache, replacing another battery but the problem remained the same.
I haven't factory reset it as I am afraid the photos and videos in my USB Storage will be wiped. :crying:
My phone is running on ICS and I have never rooted it before.
Can someone teach me what should I do to get back my data in the Internal Storage??
You kind help is very much appreciated.. Thanks alot in advance!!! :crying:
Infact you can wipe factory data. If you connect your mobile to pc and if you have any recovery software installed in your pc then you can recover your data.

flash siyah kernel via odin n DONT do any kind of wipes in stock kernel if you are on ICS 4.0.4. it has brickbug.
And all yr pics music movies will be safe by flashing kernel so dont worry about that. Factory reset or wiping data will erase yr user accounts, apps, contacts, SMS, call logs.
Hi guys i have a issue here.
My phone was initially rooted in clockworkmod and running cyogenomod 10. But the rom kept hanging which pisses me a little.
So, i did a stock rom install using odin. After the reflash, i can see and hear the startup music, thereafter, it starts to restart. From there on, it reloops at the samsung S3 GT-I9300.
I tried to send to samsung for repair and they couldnt resolve this. Instead the recovery mode was restored back to the original (without clockworkmod now).
With my issues, can you guys help me on this whether can i restore the phone again? Appreciate your comments!
*BTW, i had backup in clockworkmod on my external sd card.

If you wont read the basics then yes take to service and pay for a repair as you do not have a clue what you are doing its safer .

I also think something went wrong while flashing. As stated above, try factory reset and flash again. My guess would be you forgot to wipe your (Dalvik) cache, had a similar problem.

The only thing to do is to flash a whole complete stock Rom with Odin, see in stock roms there's I'm general section to grab one. You can try also to use Samsung s3 toolkit in original android section, stickies.. if you have a Rom image it will be easier to flash it with it no risk messing with Odin settings.
Perhaps you should read about pit corruption, it can be this also.

Just a short update, i had install clockworkmod. But still facing similar issues.
Tried PIT flashing method, still no help...
Hello.. I have faced similar issue in India with looping of logo on my Galaxy S3.
I went to the official service center and they flashed my phone 2 times with original stock rom but the issue did not go.
Finally they have to replace my phone's mother board completely and it got resolved.
I am still not sure how this has happened or is it some kind of virus.. but i was watching a video and my phone hanged and looping of logo started on my S3.
Good that my phone was under warantee so i did not have to pay any money...
But some senior members should through some light on it...
Hi Guys,
i managed to get it back to stock rom by flashing the below linked rom.
The samsung service are really......What they can't solve, they would use the worst scenario which is to change the board...
Actually i have been charged (30 bucks) by them which they can't resolve. They told me that they had flashed the ROM and that incured the charges....I was thinking wat dafuq....Cannot resolve still have the cheek to charge me. Anyway in short, they void my warranty because they saw the cwm. They were very happy when they saw that.... Anyway the warranty left 3 months, not of a issue to me.
For people who have the same issue with me, just flashed the rom (JB) that was in the below link. All the best.

Yep nandroid...I don't think you have much choice but at least you will have a backup..Also if factory reset does not work you can flash back to stock with odin then restore your backup.. There maybe other problems going on but try the basics first then see what happens.
