Switching back to stock to take a look! It'll probably be .215 or something similar though.

If it's true, you seem to be the only one getting it.

Got a notification as well. Not sure what it is, but downloading now.

Cool. Post some version numbers etc when done.

My wife's phone is receiving the update as we speak... it was more like 320MB though, if I recall correctly. Will post back when it's installed.

Yep downloading as well

Downloading now...

my first one failed to install
now it is downloading the 320 mb one

I looked down at my phone and saw in the notification bar "download suspended, will resume shortly" and after 30 min it still hadn't resumed. i went to software update and it just says that an update is already in progress and then closes. i restarted my phone, waited another 30 min and still nothing. did a hard reset, now it isn't in the notification bar any more but software update still says something is in progress and then closes. i wonder what gives? I have left my phone in the same room as my router to ensure good wifi since the wifi reception on this phone has gone to absolutely miserable.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Everytime I check for updates it says my phone is already up to date. Is there any way to force it?

Strange
Have not heard of any soak tests and nothing on verizon site

Someone pull the update file.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium

I'm in the same boat.
Tried to do it, lost wifi, got it back stuck at "suspended". Read somewhere to wipe cache to start it back up and now its not in my notification bar and under check for updates says there's 1 downloading.
What do I do? Another reboot?
I'm sad I want my jelly beans!!

Were you rooted

Can someone post a screenshot of Settings > About Phone when on Jellybean?
Also if someone can pull the update..
Instructions for pulling an OTA update.zip:
Do NOT install the update! Do these first!
Be rooted. We got plenty of methods. Motofail2go for ICS, and my RAZRiRoot.zip for turl1's Clockworkmod.
Download the Root Explorer app, or the ES File Manager app. (Instructions are for Root Explorer.)
Open Root Explorer and go to the ~/cache/ directory, which resides on the root directory of the phone '~/'
Hit the 'Mount R/W' in the corner, if successful will then say 'Mount R/O'
Copy the update file .zip from the ~/cache/ to your sdcard, external to be safe. External is in ~/mnt/external1/ and Internal is ~/sdcard/.
Copy over the update file .zip from the sdcard(s) you chose to your computer and upload it.
You will want to use Voodoo's OTA Rootkeeper before updating if you have a locked bootloader, you can find my thread on a RAZR i compatible version here.
Send me or post a link here to the update and exactly what System Version you were on, and where the update takes you to.
The community will thank you for your help!

[Q] How to disable OTA update on Moto Photon 4G

Accidentally click on "update" when it prompts. It makes no sense to have OTA update enabled for customized ROMs, but anyway to disable it? Thanks all.
This might do it
Just try for errors. I used root explore to edit the file "build.prop" in the system folder. Changed the Blur version to a large number (much larger than a practical one) and also change the rdf link information to an invalid one, as follows.
ro.mot.hw.uaprof=http://uaprof.motorola.com/phoneconfig/MotoMB999/profile/MotoMB999.rdf
ro.build.version.full=Blur_Version.99.9.9.MB855.Sprint.en.US
Then you need to reboot and wipe your cache with CM. After did so, the OTA update windows has never popped up so far and I won't even get the OTA update through the setting menu. But not sure if these edits will cause other issues, so you may try at your risk.
I would be interested to know if that effectively solves the issue, my Photon is running Laser and just today has started bugging me about the update every 3 hours.

What do I use to clear the cache for this process?
you need to reboot to recovery mode and select "wipe cache" in the "advanced" tab. If you don't have it installed, pls check this post.

For those that might not be as technically inclined or you don't want to take the chance in editing your build.prop you can also do this:
1. Download bloat freezer from the market. (its free)
2. I should have said first you have to be rooted or it wont work
3. Open bloat freezer and it will list all apps and processes; scroll down until you see "Updater".
4. Freeze that process. It will stay frozen until you defrost it.
5. That is it no more OTA pushes or Notifications
I know we all don't like OTA updates when you're unlocked, rooted, and running a custom rom and/or kernel. The hassle of flashing back and forth can be annoying too so this is a simple fix until we get custom radio's for the photon
The new Joker ROM is based off the latest OTA. But I think you have to install to leak to update the radios and what not then install the ROM. But you won't get any OTA updates as you'll be on the latest version. Home Base/Alien/Star Wars are all running on the 154 build.
You could also edit the build.prop file so that the system thinks you have the latest version...but you won't have all the fixes, so you should probably flash the latest SBF.

Freezing the updater was enough, have you made a backup of it? You might gonna need it when oficial ICS is released.

Akkk what obvious answer am I missing here;(

I rooted my nook and blocked OTAs with the indirects method....everything was perfect! And because I am a moron who thought she was be "proactive" I am a little stuck. I noticed people having trouble with their widgets moved their launcher apk...from data/app to system/app. I wasn't having trouble with my widgets but was so stupid and thought id prevent any future problems. Instead of moving it I created a link.....as someone had suggested instead.....when I noticed that didn't work.....I went back ib to try and actually move it....but it said not enough space.....I figured I shouldn't have messes with it at all...so I backed out...but it was on the stock nook screen. I couldn't figure out how to get back to my go launcher from there....so I thought perhaps if I erase and degresiter my device.....idiot. so now my device says 1.4.0.....NOT 9.9.9 anymore.....and it is on the stock b&N launcher still....surely I didn't unroot it right? Any one who could help an idiot noob? ?? I apologize for posting and not searching...but I am not quite sure what to search for because I font really know what I did and what the problem is.....

ok you have erased and deregistered your device from the nook tablet stock settings right? which means ur still rooted in terms of being able to run sideloaded apks.
if you want to take the short route u can just download go launcher ex on your computer and sideload it any do the same process for anything else you are missing, but i would recommend you start from scratch.
to start from scratch, find the superuser.apk which can be found in the nook and zergy installation folder, sideload it onto your nook tablet and also sideload the Nook Tablet Unroot App which Indirect created. Run that app and if all goes well you should have a stock nook tablet at 1.4.0.
just re-run your nook and zergy and you should be fine.
the other option is using adb hijack app, but seeing as you are a novice, i don't think you would want to go that route. hope this helps.
Oh thank you!! Ya I downloaded adb before to go that route and it hurt my brain a little Haha I was happy to find indirects method. Thank you a ton I will do that now!

Okay im getting pretty nervous that im royally screwed. My nook looks like stock 1.4.0 except the little mini book and back button in the status bar that came when I rooted. However....there is no internet browser application ....and every apk I have sideloaded it says.....the nook cannot read this type of file....so I figured I need to re load the appmenu.apk and enable third party....well dur it wont read that file apk either. What gave I done????? Anyone???

ok... what exactly did you do? did you run the nook unroot application that indirect created? I'm kind of confused as to what you did after I posted my suggestions.
I would suggest that you do this.
If it comes to it, power down, hold power and 'n' and it'll turn on, then come to the black background with the n logo then power off. Release just the power button and press and hold again for 7 more times.
On the 9th time just use the power button to turn it on and it'll prompt you with some warnings. Follow through with the continue and it will perform the steps.
BE WARNED: this will perform a complete factory restore so any installed apps will be gone but it won't touch your SD card.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Well I decided to start from scratch...so I moved the superuser apk over to my tablet and the unroot apk.....but neither of them would open in mu tablet.....it would just say. Nook cannot read this file type.....and when I click N button to search....nothing happens except it takes me home......I guess I could try the sd card I did that for my moms nook and it went smoothly....
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Well I tries the power and N 9 times thing....it did a reset again like normal but my status bar still looks rooted although the N button doesn't pull up a quick settings like the stock b&N should.....so I still cannot access the search or internet ....or sideload any apps yet it says 1.4.0..... but appears to still be rooted! Akkk
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Okay the sd card did it finally I could go into browser....allow third part appear and check the usb debugging and uncheck automount.....should I assume I am uprooted....ans reuse the Serge script....or try to unroot first?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
I really must be dense. Im very sorry for all the questions....but even after checking the unknown sources....if I go to my sd card and try to install one of the apks like superuser or unrooter it says it cannot read the format....am I missing something simple?

Thanks dodgepot! So it seemed to work great that time...so I downloaded the superuser apk from an email to myself and the unroot apk....when I like on the nook tablet unroot after installing it says...."could not echojava.ioexception: error running exec() command superuser working directory null environment null".....

You cannot install apks that way, it will always say that, easiest way is to install the GApps and then get root explorer and copy the files from your SD card to /system/app.

What he said
It says my su binary is out of date..but when I update it fails. I just want to unroot and start over. I emailed myself the superuser app from the indirect rooting folder....downloaded it ob my tablet and it installed just fine....so did the unroot file.....is this because I didn't copy it over the way you are saying? So I just need to download gapps and rootexplorer?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
But you can't install gapps....without first having root explorer correct?

Ok ready im gonna walk you through it.
Root your device
Download the latest super user package, the full package
Unzip the package on your computer, and then find the su in ./system/bin and the SuperUser.apk into the sdcard.
Using root explorer, mount /system/ as rw, and then copy su into /system/bin and superuser.apk into /system/app.
done
your instructions are very clear, but I am not sure how I can move anything in ROOT explorer when I can't get root explorer on my device in the first place....I finally found a download in my browser, and was able to install it on my device...but when I go in there is no option to MOUNT R/W it is simply mounted in R/O....
I keep RE-downloading Go Launcher from my email, and re-opening it....because every single time I hit my N button it takes me back to stock with no way to find the go launcher app....I don't care as long as I can get this dang SU issue fixed so I can unroot and be done with this. what am I missing here, I am sorry i must be very frustrating...but there is no option to change the system to R/W in my root explorer, where there was the button at the top to easily do that before. I am assuming it has to do with the SU not being updated, but I can't do that without rootexplorere akkk and I am not advanced enough to use ADB I dont think.....any ideas? my tablet easily downloads and installs things from emails.....thats the only thing I have going for me right now

[Q] Rooters, how do you stop ota notifications (P769)

Rooted, but constantly getting the system update (already downloaded) notifications .
Methods I found from search and did not work:
- Renamed and moved otacerts.zip.
- Deleted the ota update from Cache
Have not yet attempted:
- Accept the update, which will supposedly fail due to the missing files, thus stopping the update, and the notification.
Before I resort to making that leap, what did you guys do to stop it?
Thanks a bunch!

Wish I had know about that, mistakenly updated to 10g and lost root
Here's my dilemma. I had been getting tired of the notification. So I let it do it's thing. Upon reboot it gave me the Triangle Android boot screen. Nothing was installed. After a battery pull it started up fine. Now I don't have a recovery. I had CWM installed with the old Prada apk. I tried using the install again. Reboot to recovery just reboots phone. Any advice?
Getting frustrated with the ota 10g popping up. I am rooted and have voodoo root keeper. Update wont go through. Freezes with red triangle. Tried unrooting with voodoo and disabling su. Nothing seems to work. Anybody know how I can get this to either update or disable 10g notifications? I have titanium but not sure what to freeze.

All I had to do was watch it fail once and then the notification went away, but I have heard that if that does not stop the stupid update notices you can go into /cache and find the 28 or so mb file for the update (it has a fairly distinctive name), copy the filename, delete the file, and create an empty file, then paste that name you copied from the real update as the name for the blank file. Then, when your favorite little notification pops up, press install now and watch the red triange pop up. Now, just hold power button until it powers off, then turn it on, and alakazam, no more update irritation. Also, one reason the update sometimes doesn't go through is if you have deleted any of T-Mobile's bloatware. If you do want the update to install, your best hope for restoring the bloatware is in this thread HERE. Good Luck!
While I can't vouch for anything else besides the P675 10e Tmobile version, the following method will stop the update prompts. It *should* work on all ICS and JB devices, including Nexus.
0. Root, if you haven't already.
1. Download AutoRun Manager
2. In ARM, choose "Advanced"
3. Touch the wrench icon, and check
- Show System Entries
- Enable System Application Disable
4. Back on the application list, tap the refresh (circle arrow) icon if you don't see system apps. They should have a red background.
5. Find the app Google System Framework (aka: GSF) and tap it.
6. Uncheck the "com.google.<something>.gsf.update.SystemUpdate" receivers. I can't read my own handwriting at the moment, but they both end in SystemUpdate.
And there you go. I've been update free for at least 18 hours, and it's persisted through reboots. The receivers have yet to start back up.
Most ICS and JB devices should receive update notifications via the Google Services Framework, not the manufacturer's update applications. The manufacturer might have their own update procedures/apps/scripts once the update is downloaded and ready to install, but the notifications should all be handled by the GSF.
Personally, I tried freezing and even deleting all LGE update related apps (omadmclient [or whatever it's called], fota [several variants], and more), deleting the downloaded update, deleting the SSL certs, and even using a pm command in a shell script that ran every 5 minutes to kill all LGE update related modules. Nada. The only thing that worked was the above method.
I've also heard -- what DatNexus mentioned -- accepting the udpate then hard rebooting works, too. But it's not as universal (my Nexus 7 still kept prompting me, for example) and there's always a chance that accepting an update later on will brick or otherwise damage the file system rather than just fail outright.

[Q] Help Strapstrap 3.11 Doesn't Work after rooting Droid RAZR XT912 CDMA

PLEASE HELP SOON, doing this as a BIRTHDAY GIFT for my younger cousin (I also bought a case protector too) He works 2 part-time jobs while still in school and doesn't have time to mod or time to deal with troubleshooting the install. He's a really good guy and cares for his parents and younger sister; he works really hard to pay for what he has and even sends some money back home to help out since money is tight for them.
I feel bad for him and want to do this for him. His birthday is coming up
-Help, Safestrap version 3.11 doesn't work after installed on rooted phone (Droid Razr spyder XT912 CDMA)
When I click on the Safestrap app a window pops up and it says "Unfortunately, Safestrap has stopped" with the only option of clicking "ok" button- this then closes the app entirely before Safestrap can open up.
*I've installed and erased Safestrap 4 times already, and boot the phone in Recovery Mode to clear the cache each time. I used the "adb" in the Android SDK to install Safestrap into the phone, and noticed that it was installed in a temp folder each time.
*I've rooted the phone 2 times already with Razr Blade program and it says it's "successfully rooted" each time
HOW DO I FIX THIS? Safestrap is stopping me from being able to go on with Cyanogenmod 10.1 steps. It's so frustrating
you sure it's rooted? do you have superuser app?
try installing the apk in normal way like copying / installing with airdroid or dropbox.
i keep all my apps on dropbox.
Figured it out

THANKS SO MUCH!! You're AWESOME. :highfive: After checking out your question- It turned out that the phone wasn't rooted because there's no superuser app and also I downloaded a root checker app and it said that I didn't have root access. The Razr Blade said the process was a success but I did noticed that a part of it didn't have the files or folder it needed to clear up, and the second time around I hard reset it to factory settings, and then actually rooted it using Razr Blade and it did have the necessary folder/files to clear up. Afterwards, I saw that I had the superuser app. Thanks for the dropbox advice too.
The phone is now completely modified with CM10.1.2.

It says that i am connected to cell service, but i can rarely get even a text to go through, let alone a call. I tried reflashing CM and Gapps, but still that same problem. I am still pretty new to roothing so try to go easy on all of the technical terms. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have been running CM roms since I rooted and have recently flashed CM11-20140130 and i am still having the problem but with a twist. It says that i am connected to cell service, but i can rarely get even a text to go through, let alone a call. I tried reflashing CM and Gapps, but still that same problem. I am still pretty new to roothing so try to go easy on all of the technical terms. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You open the .Zip file wit WinRar / 7zip. browse to the /system/app folder > Delete the .apk that was mentioned. and clean flash the rom.
Goodluck (i'm also trying this now.)

You can do it after you flash the rom, with Es File Explorer or some other file manager.

I did not know.
However my radio is working correctly now. Meanwhile i als had a thread submitted before, where i kept my 'testing' logged.

This also should work for OP.
Strange tho there is nothing on [ROM] Threads about such possible problem.

Start Es file explorer, tap on menu button, find the option Root Explorer, put it ON,give permissions to SU,then tap on Root Explorer, tap on Mount R/W and tick everything to RW.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I got the .apk deleted and reflashed the ROM and gapps, and restored my data. I still have the same problem. I tried making a call tonight and I keep getting cut off in a good coverage area. Any other ideas because I'm about ready to break the phone and claim insurance.
