The only thing i can think of is rewrite it to point our custom recovery, cause i fairly certain that it normaly points to the recovery partition
I'm able to create a nano I just can't restore it.
Some of the files are in .tar format instead of .img

interesting sounds like theres an issue somewhere dealing with the formatting. You could try this to see if it works (have a valid backup or be prepared to flash if you try it and doesnt work), try renaming the file so instead of say system.tar rename it to system.img and see if it works.
No tar is a type of zip so it would have to be extracted.
The developer of the app said it's because it's not cwm recovery?
But thanks for trying
I'm going to try a few things and tell you how it goes or not:banghead:

have you tried installing cwm with rom manager, likely mess up bsr, but might help your progress

As above. Would like to have a tinker to see if it'll boot with the GSM ICS leak kernel and some lib swaps/build.prop edits. Not expecting any joy, but worth a shot, right?
TIA.

So, could I just restore from this on verizon cdma razr and have ICS, rooted, without following any of the more complicated methods for already rooted phones?

Not promising anything but there's only one way to find out.

No, you couldn't because CWM can't flash the radio, bootloader, or kernel updates that the leak runs on.

Damn, can't even get it to flash, CWM spits the dummy on the MD5. Tried using the same boostrap that's included in the data tar, tried recreating the MD5s, tried putting the files in all sorts of folder names, no joy. Kinda wish CWM still used .IMG so I could try fastbooting them, heh.

You DO NOT use droid 2 recovery for this. You need droid x2 and quote (droid x2) bootstrap recovery.
Hey, I know someone who accidentally accepted the 2.3.5 update on his rooted 2.3.4 phone. Is there any way to cancel this after its already been downloaded but not installed? I remember hearing talk about freezing the updater but I was wondering if there was an easier way. Thanks.
Edit: found it.

if your phone is rooted you can delete the update.zip and it will forget about that you have an update till you check again. for motorola phones its usually in the cache partition, i dont know if its in the sameplace on other phones
to stop updates
Rename /system/app/BlurUpdater_VZW.apk to BlurUpdater_VZW.apk.bak. Rename /system/app/BlurUpdater_VZW.odex to BlurUpdater_VZW.odex.bak.
reboot to recovery and wipe cache

The title says it all. I'm on a Droid X2 flashing eclipse and it ran into an error so I rebooted. Now I'ts constantly stuck on the M Motorola screen. Any suggestions?
You'll probably want to SBF back to 2.4.3 and start over.

HowTo: Perform a SBF ("factory restore") of your Motorola Droid X2
Sent from my XT862 using xda premium
Lol, should've proofread. I meant 2.3.4. But if you check the post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317707
That will give you directions to SBF to 2.3.4. Then follow the directions provided on the eclipse page.

or use ezSBF for dx2
no rsd lite, or moto drivers needed
find in my list
sd_shadow's list of links for Droid FAQs, SBF, Rooting, ROMs.... https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Goawxdx_UBF4Y8lqzHYWf8Ha3yUcRK4faq0UWIlXLWA/edit

there is a 2.3.5 sbf
then root with magic md5 root
both in my list
Also make sure not to use ota rootkeeper. If you have it installed on your phone after you're rooted, uninstall it or when you try to flash eclipse from 2.3.5 it will fail. I ran into that problem.

I personally would recommend using RSD Lite to SBF back to 2.3.4. ezSBF uses linux and could be confusing if never done before, plus using RSD Lite you literally just plug your phone into your computer and hit Start. I am new so can't post a link but i guess u can PM me and I can send you the link that way if you would like. Good luck!
links to 2.3.4 sbf and rsd lite are also in my list
Had 2.3.5 .418 originally. sbf'd down to 2.3.4 .380. Rooted using Zergush cause cudnt find a working link for Petes one click method. So now i want to install eclipse, i tried to flash back to 2.3.5 .418, but since Zergush deleted google maps, the flash failed. Installed google maps & it still failed. What are my options?
Your best bet would be to sbf back to 2.3.4. Then update to 2.3.5. Then root using the magic md5 method. Flash Eclipse and enjoy.

I was hoping there was some kind of easy fix like remove the battery, make a wish, put it back, & there ya go. Thanks.
Well you could try that! Not sure how effective it would be, but it's worth a shot.

Or skip the extra step and just sbf to 2.3.5
