[Q] Crashes almost immediatley after boot - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a GTab 10.1. I was using CM10 nightly build and it worked like a charm. Yesterday it started to crash. It boots, works OK and then crashes 30sec to 1 minute after that. It reboots and here we go again, and again.
I wiped user data, but it didn't help. I also restored one of the earlier backups. No success. I formated /system, /data, /cache and /preload from CWM and installed an older CM9 rom, which I have on my sd-card. Same behaviour as before.
I wanted to install latest CM10 nightly, but I am unable to upload it to the device as it crashes before it finishes.
It works fine (no crashes) in CWM recovery mode.
What else should I try? And ideas? Could be something wrong with the hardware?
Thanks in advance!

Try starting from first flash ics, bootloader then the latest build of cm10.....

Sorry... do not undestand. ics meaning stock firmware?
In the meanwhile I also noticed that tab sometimes just freezes and does not reboot. If I leave it like this for some time it becomes quite hot (as CPU would be under very high load - some infinite loop maybe?).

Are you overclocked? Maybe have an overclock set on boot

I have a same problem, but i manage to fix it.
First I flash my rom to ICS 4.0.4 P7500XXLQ8 using odin.
After flashing complete, wipe cache, factory reset than reboot.
And whallaaa........your tab is back to normal again. ^^
I hope this info can help you.

Hm... that might be an issue. I was playing with overclocking a while ago and totally forgot about it. Now I restored from an old backup (honeycomb), where I still had an old kernel. It has been working without freeze for some minutes now.
What should be the right procedure to upgrade back to 4.x? Can I just install CM10 over it?
Thank you all for your help!

[Q] touchpad stuck in bootloop on CM boot after instal alpha 3.5!

Bad zip?
Are you coming from a earlier version of cm7?
Or is it a first time flash for the touchpad?

coming from alpha 3. not first time flashing. havent had problems before. tried redownloading the zip 2x
i had the same issue with miui. took me a day to figure it out, as there are few posts on this. you must "wipe sd" in cm recovery before installing the rom. do a backup first. it doesnt touch the webos area.

tried to do clockwork recovery. finished backing up boot, then went to back up system and restarted.
how do you wipe sd? do you mean partition it?
A sort of solution
I upgraded from 3 to 3.5 as well and I got in to a bootloop as well do I downgrade then re-upgrade or what, any help would be great.
EDIT: After posting this I reinstalled 3.5 and it's working but i'm never going to turn off android again at least until ICS

edit: i tried reinstalling 3.5. i tried redownloading it ot make sure it wasnt corrupt. nothing happened. it reboots during the installing system partition.
I wiped the cache and dalvik other than that I did nothing special, then I just re-installed it and it's working so far.

tab sticks then crashes on boot logo

Hi got a galaxy tab 10.1 ive got the Kang CM9 ICS rom on it, worked fine for about a month then suddenly just started crashing
did a hard reset device powers on charges starts to load boot image then freezes and crashes.
im able to launch recovery mode, tried doing factory reset and it wouldnt go through.
tried cache whipe was able to complete and the boot logo lasted longer then froze and crashed again.
not sure what happened and im thinking the only thing left to try is a full reflash
has anyone else experianced this?
thanks in advance

I've not experienced this because I haven't messed much with Kang CM9 ICS, but my first suggestion would to be restore from nandroid backup. If you're like me, in the past, you didn't do one or can't access it. So a full reflash or possibly going back to stock and then a reflash would be my suggestion.
If you decide to go back to stock first, or still need to after a reflash, the overcome ROM thread is a good place to lead you to 7500 & 7510 stock ROMs. You'll find a link to a guide outside xda there where towards the bottom part of the guide it says Restocking yer system.

thanks Benzoman was able to reflash the stock rom from rogers using ODIN after which it got stuck in a bootloop. then tried data wipe in recovery mode and it booted up like normal.
any idea what could have caused it?
Depends if you had HC 3.1 as a base firmware, more likely to crash, then another would be what version of ICS you used, because the kang is at milestone 4, the current stable march edition.

[Q] TWRP 2.4.4.x Boot Loop?

Has anyone else had a boot loop problem with the new V of TWRP?? I'm running SOAv3 ROM and had ZERO problems, upgraded my twrp and had about a dozen restarts and freezes and then when I tried to boot into recovery, it boot looped. Fixed it with ODIN, then tried installing it fresh, and got the same thing. Went back to my older version and things are fine once again just wondered if this is isolated or just a known bug??
Yes its a know issue right now go back to the previous working version of twrp and wait for it to get fixed. Also be sure to check big Biff's twrp page before trying to update again to make sure everything is good.

Just update from Padawan V8 to SOA build 3. Was skeptical for a day or so but finally did it last night. Was just about to update to the New TWRP, thank fully I read through all those pages before I did, I usually don't. Saved me a head ache except I forgot to wipe cache's before installing the GAPPS, going to have to re-do that I believe to get the new camera functions from what I've read.

Stuck in a loop with CM

I've been running 10.1.2, but this morning was notified of update. So I installed the update.
However, the update killed my Wi-Fi, in that I was getting signal, but no internet connection.
So I tried to roll back to 10.1.2, but now have the constant CyanogenMod loading animation and it's been like it for an hour. So I held down the power and volume button and it does exactly the same thing, reboots and get's stuck with the animation?
I can't turn if off or anything?
Can someone please help?

Have had similar problems would love a dev input here, think it has something to do with having to separately flashing a compatible kernel? Or a bug in cm recovery when whipe? Anyways flash meow kernel and ROM, then in twmp recovery wipe all under advanced, then reinstall cm, that should fix it for you.

Perfect. I managed to get into CWM, cleared all the old data and re-installed 10.1 that was still on the SD card. I then installed Gapps and updated CM, but not to the latest this time!
Thanks for the help, I can relax now and the Mrs can now go on Facebook again

[Q] HTC Desire X Keeps Restarting!

Hello,

I am now making a nandroid backup.

You tried pulling the battery? Or, wipe cache and dalvik cache from recovery?

Tried all those and only then I posted here. I don't want to flash a new ROM now. :/ Had everything setup to my liking.
Can you do a logcat while booting your phone, including the reboot?

Sorry, I got frustrated and now flashing a new ROM.
That's fine then, definitely the best choice...
Random reboots are mostly accredited to kernel and not ROM. (however possible in ROM as well).
First thing you should do next time if such thing happens is to flash stock boot or use a different boot then u are currently using.

I did the same, Returned to full stock. But then the problem occurred again after I finished setting up all my apps. Also I found out what the problem was.
The issue is with the latest update of DoubleTwist Music Player App. As soon as I installed that app and opened it, My phone froze and then the restarting issue started. Then I removed the app apk from Recovery and now it works fine.
So anyone having this issue try the above solution.
