[Q] Lumia 710 - Sim Unlock - Nokia Lumia 800

Hi,
I've been trying to unlock my Lumia 710 from wind and I'm having a few problems.
What I've done.
- I have QUALCOMM bootloader, since I get the format disk popup in windows.
- Flashed WP Rainbow Mod 7.8 Custom Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654415 using Nokia Lumia 710 Downloader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1665821)
- Installed Zune (I guess drivers as well), Nokia Care Suite (WinUSB Drivers for x64), QUALCOMM Drivers (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1669498)
- Downloaded NssPro v0.52
- Followed this tutorial to set-up NssPro for WP7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721355
What's wrong
- When running NssPro, using the detect button the program says phone not found (yes, its in OSBL mode.), and if I click out I get a pop up saying Nokia Care Suite stopped responding and the program crashes.

- Phone not Found: http://i.imgur.com/bmcAI.png
- Crashed: http://i.imgur.com/j4Efn.png
I'm running Windows 8 x64.
If anyone could point out what I'm doing wrong would be great.
Thanks,
Karn.

I have your same problem and posted here a question but no one answer me

[Q] Lumia 800 + Qualcomm + NCS

Hi guys,
I've been trying to update my Lumia 800 (RM-801, detects as RM-819, Qualcomm bootloader) using Nokia Care Suite. I've tried just about everything that I can think of and still I cannot get this useless bit of software to go past the "lost connection" screen. Just to ensure clarity, I am on Qualcomm's bootloader (NOT DLOAD) and have tried on both Win8 x64 and Win7 x86 with no luck anywhere. I don't care if I have to lose the QC bootloader to do this, I'm done with custom ROMs anyway. Can someone shed any light on why NCS stubbornly refuses to work on my phone?
Thanks.
You need to use QPST instead of NCS for Qualcomm-bootloader phones.

Nokia lumia Update to 7.8 The easy way

Hi guys I have been following XDA Developers for years and I love it I have found many useful tips and tricks in my time from hear over at the Android forums and now I would like to share my first post with you all not only as a thank you but also even though the nokia WP 7.8 upgrade is close I was impatient like many of you and wanted it now I read lots of threads about using navifirm+ etc and renaming files but in all honesty I think my method is easier and quicker and cuts out a lot of confusion hope somebody finds this as useful as I did.
All you will need for this Update is Nokia Care Suite.
PLEASE NOTE THIS METHOD IS FOR UPDATING YOUR ORIGINAL PHONE AND CARRIER
For Example..
Before Update your phoneis running on Vodafone WP7.5, - After Update it will be Vodafone WP7.8 (carrier locked)
Before you start get your phone code pop your sim tray out and check the code by the Barcode/QR label it should be seven digits mine is 059N8H6
Write yours down and then put the sim and tray back in the phone.
Right lets get started
We need to find a decent version of Nokia Care SuiteThis I found a little hard as a lot of the downloads are full of bloatware/spyware however this is the one I used. softpedia.com/get/Mobile-Phone-Tools/Nokia/Nokia-Care-Suite.shtml ( as a new user I cannot post the Link)
You may need to update some windows components mainly Microsoft net framework 4.0 and all that is available including the extender. you may even need to update c++ redistrubutle to be able to install Nokia care suite. however Nokia Care Suite will tell you what you need.
Download and install Nokia care Suite this will take a little while and after it is installed you then install all Drivers in C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Drivers some will not be compatible that is normal.(my system is win7 64bit)
After all drivers have been installed you can then Open Nokia care center . you may have to go to your program files and open the Nokia Folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Application Launcher\bin application launcher then right click and run as administrator.( I had Too)
once it has loaded you will have a menu double click “Product Support Tool For Store 5.0” you will see a picture of a disconnected phone and cable Click File and “open Product”
Find or type into the filter RM-801 . YOU SHOULD THEN HAVE 1 RESULT this is Our Nokia Lumia 800's click open and you will now see it on the screen (left) with the disconnected cable and phone. connect your phone so that the phone drivers get installed (after install you can leave it connected)
check that in the bottom corner their is a Globe lit up saying online it should be. then click Programming at the bottom left of the window and select Recovery. a new field will appear on screen saying Properties and you will see three boxes. Code, Variant Name and Version.
Click into the Code box and type your 7 digit code from the sim card tray you wrote down and click find online.a Box will open and lots of firmwares should appear within the popped up box in the Code section again type your code and that will give you your specific update to WP7.8
Click download and wait until it has finished after it has downloaded then click update list it should appear in the properties boxes. (if not just select tools from drop down menu and click Downloads and then double click the file)
Then Just highlight the Firmware file and click Start The software will then take over and instruct you to turn off the phone( if it is still connected) after you have done this then connect the phone to the USB cable whilst holding volume up button the phone will vibrate a couple of times and the drivers may instal again give it a few seconds and . press retry Thats it Nokia Care Suite is doing your Upgrade.
Sit Back and relax as Your Lumia 800 upgrades to WP 7.8 I am pretty sure this method will work with any Lumia device however I have only done it with MY Lumia 800 and therefore cannot guarantee it.
obviously I cannot be held responsible for any bricking or damage you cause to the your phone so only proceed if you are comfortable doing so.
Hope you all find this useful cheers oobritoo.

Your solution is good but has a big issue, and I will try to explain it to you.
Imagine that you are like me, having a Lumia 800 that you bought to Orange (or any other provider). Mine was an Orange France Lumia 800 that I had desimlocked officialy by them, and after this, I installed, via Navifirm, an unbranded ROM for the phone. When using your solution, as you said in your post, you must provide inside the Nokia Product Support Tool the code of your device, closely linked to your simcard (you said by yourslef that this code is located on the Simcard compartment. The Nokia Product Support Tool will then download and install on your mobile a ROM branded to the operator corresponding to the code provided.
Navifirm allows you to pick almost any rom, independantely to your code number, and by using a little trick (renaiming 3 files), to install it.
This is the biggest default of this method for someone who cares about not being branded again. If you are using a branded phone and want a firmware customized by your operator, then your solution is for sure the best one.
But anyway thank you for your post, it will help many of us I am sure.
Hi
My brother uses 0 which has Windows 7 installed in it as operating system. From the system itself, it has a built-in Bing search, not just for texts/phrases, images, videos, but for songs as well. Whenever a song is playing, the search option automatically picks up which song is being played & shows option to buy it from Windows Store.
I myself have Samsung Galaxy S 4G (1st generation) with Android as built-in operating system. Though I love Android for its variety, I just can't figure out how to do such song search with Android phones. Google is pre-installed in these phones. But Google's voice search doesn't help with identifying the song. Is there another way to do this?
Thanks!

Glad it helped welcome to 7.8
This worked great up until it showed me a really old WP7.5 rom as being the latest for my phone
Looks like I have RM-819_NAM_US_CV_VAR191243_MAGENTA_V1 whatever that means.

Solution to have Bluetooth Share (preinstaled) in phone lumia 610 is to install firmware country variant Germany...and set region to Germany in phone. Tested.

Easy, you need to install the Nokia USB Drivers, located in the folder Drivers, found inside the installation forlder of Nokia Care Suite. Then your Lumia 800 will be recognized.

Does anyone know or have access to how these codes work?
I bought my 800 unlocked from a 3UK store and don't want it locking to that network as I use a different carrier. I would have thought there were generic codes for non-carrier versions....
Thanks,
I have an issue, my phone is unbranded sim free Lumia 710 with code 059n2l6 there is no software found for this product code, Can I use any?

[Q] Is it possible to bring DLOAD mode back if my Lumia 800 has QCMDM bootloader?

My original Vodafone Spain branded Nokia Lumia 800 had no problems at all since today. I have never tried to unlock it and has always installed the official updates through Zune.
Today I've received the notification for the 7.8 update! Yay! I started the installation through Zune (as always). Everything was ok: steps 1 trough 5 (downloading, transferring, etc.). And then, step 6: rebooting the phone. It rebooted, but the usual "do not unplug" icon didn't show. Instead, the screen was blank and Zune was waiting endlessly for the phone to reboot. A notification came through windows saying that the removable drive must be formatted, which I DIDN'T do. The device manager was showing a "Qualcomm MMC Storage USB device" along with another one with a yellow asterisk.
Searching the internet I found that my phone has a special Bootloader, which was not supposed to be available to the final users.
I know many people here would love to have the Qualcomm Bootloader, but what I would like right now is to have the standard DLOAD Bootloader!
So here is my question: is it possible to restore the phone to the standard DLOAD mode so I could install the 7.8 update through Zune?
I've tried installing the Qualcomm drivers, which installed flawlessly. Now I have no yellow asterisks, but a new COM port ("Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9006 (COM5)"), but Zune is still waiting for my phone to reboot....
UPDATE: I have tried with "Seven-Eighter" by Windows Phone Hacker wit the same result. Obviously is an issue related to the bootloader of my phone.
NOTE TO THE ADMINS: Should I better post this in the "Lumia 800 Windows Phone Development " section?
I've finally found the solution!
Just hold the camera button when Zune restarts the phone. Then the usual "do not unplug" screen appears and the process continues flawlessly.
Hi,
For lumia 800 - only way to change boot-loaders is through Test Points and ATF Flasher.

(Solved)Rogers Lumia 710 update to wp7.8 and unlock sim

Hi everyone:
I am using Rogers Lumia 710. Since haven't seen the wp7.8 update pushed to my phone, I decided to update it by myself. What I did is following:
1. Downloaded the latest firmware with NaviFirm 1.5, and chose the APAC1 Black one under RM-803 (mine is RM-809)
2, Installed the Nokia Care Suite, changed the ROM's name to my phone's product code, successfully flashed it. All my apps were gone though. Using my live ID to logon, I could get all my contacts, calendars back.
3, Using the NssPro 5.0. I flashed the OSBL file to Qualcomm.
So far everything was fine. The problem started below.
4, In NssPro, chose Simlocks -> WP7 -> Unlock
The NssPro switched the phone to OSBL mode, I could see the screen turned to dark after a short vibration, then NssPro said could not find the phone. The snapshot is attachd.
I tried many times and NssPro just couldn't find the phone.
Is there any one knows what is the cause and how to solve it?
Thank you guys.

UPDATE: Problem Solved!
I was using Win7 64 bit.
Tried anther computer which is runing WinXP 32bit. Installed NCS, ZUNE and NSS Pro 0.54
The trick is:
If you connect the phone and use NSS to unlock it, NSS will turn the phone mode to OSBL mode, then it stops, just leave the phone there without any further actions. What I did was I disconnect the phone then re-plug it, click Unlock in NSS again, amazingly, it searched the phone and found a place to change. At that time the phone was recognized as NAND drive.
After NSS said successfully unlocked, I tried Fido card. The phone asked PIN and I typed in 8 zeros, then I could make phone call with Fido network.
Now my phone is unbranded, upgraded to wp7.8 and sim-unlocked. Bingo!
Hope this helps

I did not exactly understand what was your problem but I do have a problem with the drivers.
I looked in the sreenshot, what does it say in the list, just right from USB pin layout? For me, I get a not working Qualcomm driver and in this device list something like 'usb disk' appears 3 times (I don't remember the exact words, not at home to check). Instead of showing Nokia (or something) on first line.
I am wondering if we had same problem.. do I need to wipe my pc and install 32 bit win7? doesn't sound like a great idea. I tried virtualbox but I can't pass the usb through the host.

[How-To] bootloader-unlock your Lumia 800 and flash a custom rom

Dear XDA community,
everyday i'm reading new questions from users, how they have to unlock their Lumia 800 and how they can flash custom roms onto it...
So i decided to make this how-to-thread.
I'll keep this post updated as an overview:
post 2: Bootloader unlock DLOAD Lumia 800 to Qualcomm
post 3: Backup and flash your L800 with Ubuntu, flash in Windows using dewe's Lumia Downloader 0.5
post 4: How-To use USB-Video-Out
So please, guys, read this thread, and if you don't understand, feel free to ask. :good:
Bootloader unlock DLOAD Lumia 800 to Qualcomm
If you want to flash a custom rom, you need to have a Lumia 800 with qualcomm bootloader.
But it's a difficult way to make your DLOAD Lumia 800 to Qualcomm:
You need two main things:
1. You need ATF flasher box
2. You need good soldering skills or the special atf cables from gpg industries
Here's a tutorial to SIM-Unlock a Lumia 800: How-To SIM-Unlock your Lumia 800 - gsmhosting.com
This is almost the same procedure for "bootloader-unlocking" your Lumia 800.
You just do not need to click SP-Unlock, you need to click "boot repair" (and select qualcomm, of course).
Here's the thread of the special cables: No more soldering for lumia 610,710,800,900 easiest osbl swap ever
These cables do not require you to solder your device. You only need to open up your phone and connect it to the cable and your ATF Box.
So, if you don't want, or can't buy such a box, check for a local phone repair shop in your town/city. If they have ATF, i'm sure they can do this for you for a small amount.
Hope this helps.
Flash your custom rom using dewe's Lumia Downloader 0.5
Dewe's Nokia Lumia Downloader 0.5
I attached the Nokia Lumia Downloader 0.5 for flashing your Lumia 800 easily in Windows.
Thx to dewe for his great work!
This requires your Lumia 800 to have the qualcomm bootloader!!
First: make a backup of ALL 9 partitions of the phone!
This might really save your ass Id did save mine more than once :good:
1. Install Ubuntu to your computer, or use Ubuntu-Live-CD
2. put phone into "Qualcomm Mode" by pressing VOL UP + POWER and connect it to your pc
3. check with
Code:
sudo fdisk -l
how your phone appears in ubuntu
4. backup your partitions using this:
Code:
sudo dd if=/dev/sd[B]X[/B]1 of=/media/Data/backup1.bin
sudo dd if=/dev/sd[B]X[/B]2 of=/media/Data/backup2.bin
sudo dd if=/dev/sd[B]X[/B]3 of=/media/Data/backup3.bin
up to
sudo dd if=/dev/sd[B]X[/B]9 of=/media/Data/backup9.bin
where the X is your special letter, mostly it's b, c, or d.
if = your input file
of = your output file
And this might take up to 2 hours.
Restoring your backups is the exact opposit.
second: you can now flash your Lumia 800.
because you're already in Ubuntu, you can flash it using:
Code:
sudo dd if=/path/to/your/os-new.nb of=/dev/sd[B]X[/B]9
You MUST flash the os-new.nb file to partition 9!!!
Or you can use attached Nokia Lumia Downloader on Windows.
1. Connect your phone in "qualcomm mode"
2. open the Tool with admin rights in Windows
3. Klick "download" and select os-new.nb file
NOTICE: when you connect the phone in "qualcomm mode" in windows, you'll get a message of formatting the drive. DO NOT DO THAT!!!! CLICK CANCEL! If you format, your phone's broken.
How-To use USB-Video-Out
How to use USB Video Out:
As it seems to be a little "difficult" to use the usb video out package, here's what you have to do (this is a copy out of the readme file of the package):
You can download the needed files here:
USB-Video-Out.rar
Mirror @4shared
Enabling USB video out on the phone (ON THE PHONE)
- From Start Menu swipe over to the application list and run "USB Video Out"
- Answer Yes to enable USB Video out. This is a toggle.
- When the phone boots up it is in Zune Mode which enables it to sync data with Zune Client software on the PC. You will need to toggle this to Video mode using the above steps to get video out.
- Note: Toggling between Zune mode and Video mode requires the phone to reboot each time.
Setting up driver on the desktop (one time)
- Make sure Zune is not running.
- Your Phone must be flashed with a ROM that has video out bits on it, they must be enabled, and the phone must be on and plugged into your PC to continue. When the phone boots up the default setting is OFF for the video output.
- Start -> Right click on Computer, select Manage
- In "Computer Management" click on the Device Manager
- Under "Other Devices"
- Within the list of drivers Right Click on WM7VIDSTREAM driver, select "Update Driver Software..."
- Choose Browse and point Windows to appropriate driver folder.
- Approve the Unsigned Driver installation.
Starting application
- Launch VidStream.exe.
- This application does support disconnect & reconnecting of the phone's USB cable.
- If a previous instance of VidStream.exe was running with the device connected, you will need to simply unplug and replug the phone's USB cable.
- Press ESC to exit the PC Client application.
Re-enabling MTPz USB sync (Zune Mode)
- Open "USB Video Out"
- Answer Yes to enable MTPz
- The device will reboot to make the changes effective.

Isn't it better to put the windows method above the ubuntu? I think more ppl use Windows and possibly won't se the windows method as me

If i put the windows flashing above, most people will stop reading, and don't make a backup
I think this way, more people read the backup story, so it's their choice if they don't make one

Hi there,
sorry for late reply.
I you mean with "doing this" unlocking your bootloader, syncing data does not really have anything to do with your bootloader.
Generally, if you make your DLOAD to Qualcomm, your personal files are still on your phone, as bootloader changing does not overwrite any personal files (partition 9 of the phone).
It matters more, which rom you install, if syncing content with zune is still possible or not.
If you flash a custom rom, your data is whiped, as you overwrite your OS partition with the custom rom. But after that, with my roms for example, you can sync your songs etc. back to your Lumia.
I don't think this might work with apps, you have to install them again via marketplace.
Is it possible to use your ROMs on N9?
Is it possible to use your ROMs on Nokia N9? If yes how?

Hi there,
no, this only overwrites your bootloader, which is on a different partition as the phone operating system.
so this will not wipe your phone data.
just flashing a custom rom will wipe your data.
Remove Funkyrom
I am just wondering. If I ever want to go back to the Original Windows Phone OS, can I just restore to factory settings on my windows phone? Or do I need to do some other stuff, I can't find an answer anywhere.

Hi there,
if you've made a backup, you can restore this and reset your phone afterwards.
That's the best solution in my opinion, because you're back on the original rom, but you're still on the qualcomm bootloader, so you can reflash a custom rom whenever you want
Of course you can restore DLOAD and flash the original ROM with ATF, too. But then you have to do the soldering stuff again, if you want to use a custom rom in the future.
thanks for your support
What about the method from cyclone box?
Do you think there will be a method soon for changing bootloader without opening the phone and buying a box? The problem is I don't want to pay for cyclone box.

No. I think there'll never be an option.
Afaik, this is only possible with ATF, not with cyclone.

It is said on their website that it is possible to patch bootloader without opening the phone. (sorry I can't post links yet, but it is easy to find on google by typing "cyclone box lumia 800 no tp" ). Unfortunately we need a cyclone box . My question is : will there be a method with which we don't need a cyclone box?
